In a continuation of Lupin Cottage Maxwell and Taylor return for Christmas break at Hogwarts and Jack's long lost mother comes looking for him only to find she's not quite welcome.

Jack chuckled lightly at all her questions. "Your name is Carina McIntyre, you're not Italian...you're Scottish...A Scottish princess...I Am your Step-father...My name is Jack Lupin...She loves you dearly and has never stopped missing you for one moment...it's been about two years..."

Carina looked at him, "Carina?" She nodded, "Okay... I never did like the name Christina... never felt right..." Her eyes grew, "Scottish princess?" She smiled, "So I get to see you everyday then?" Her face had a worried look on it, "What if I dont fit her expectations? What if I am a disappointment? Would I just get sent away or pushed aside? What would happen to me if I dont please her?" Tears started coming to her eyes.

Jack nodded. "That's because Christina's not...." Then he nodded, she was indeed a princess. "Yes, I'll be there every day...The only expectation she has is that you're happy and healthy and she will love you no matter what, I promise you that nothing bad will ever happen, You will never be pushed aside.."

Carina laughed, "Feels so weird to be a Scottish princess... it is every girl's dream." She smiled, "Okay..." She stepped closer to him, "Am I too old and heavy to be picked up?" She glanced at him and shifted, still a little nervous.

Jack chuckled a little. "It must be a lot to take in...but i understand, believe me.." He said thinking of his own moment of revelation. He shook his head. "No..come on, ready to go home?" He asked, holding out his arms.

Jack picked her up and smiled. "Okay...let's go.." He said apperating to the estate, he was supposed to take a plane home, but he could always call and tell them something else...He walked down the path to the cottage with her, they had more than enough rooms for her to sleep comfortably...it was a large cottage.

Carina smiled up at him though she clinged to him as she became even more nervous. "Pappi... please tell me all I need to know... I dont want to disappoint her..." She looked at him, pleading.

Jack smiled at her. "There's nothing you could ever do to disappointing her. Just seeing you will make her so happy...if she cries, it's not because she's sad but because she's happy to see you, okay?...when we get there, let me go in first, she's not expecting me, but she's really not expecting you.."

Jack laughed a little. She hadn't changed much at all, still so sweet. "It's not that she's easy to please....She just loves you that much..." He said getting closer to the house.

Jack put her down and walked up to the door. "Stay here, little one...I'll come get you in a moment, okay?" He asked with kind eyes, Elizabeth wouldn't expect him home for another day...so there were a few surprises.

Elizabeth was cleaning and humming. She had finished early that day so she was taking care of a few things while Lucas and Alice were over at Henry's still. She wasnt expecting anyone.

Jack walked into the house, leaving Carina on the porch, he knocked a little first not wanting to startle his wife. "Elizabeth? I'm home a little early..Are you home?" He asked wondering where her and their puppy was, they needed to name her..

Elizabeth turned and beamed at him. She stopped cleaning and instantly went over to him. "Hey, handsome." She kissed him, wrapping her arms around him, "Ya a little early but that is good with me." She laughed and pulled him closer. "I missed you."

Jack smiled, he could never help but smile when she looked at him like that, He threw his arms around her and kissed her back. "Yes, i finished my meetings early...i missed you too...and i brought someone with me that you've missed too..."

Elizabeth smiled as he threw his arms around her and kissed her back. "Well that is good." She looked at him, "You went to Henry's already?" Her eyebrows raised and laughed, "I was gonna do that after I finish some other things." She shook her head, thinking he meant Lucas and Alice.

Jack held up one finger to say just a second and went to the front door. "You can come in now, little one.." He said holding the door open and looking back at his wife, how would she react...maybe he should have explained..but knowing her he thought seeing her daughter would make her so happy she wouldn't care how..not at first anyway.

Carina came in but stayed near Jack. She was afraid of disappointing her real mother. She clung to his leg.
She looked to see who he was talking to. Her eyes grew and she shook. Tears came to her eyes as she went over to the girl. Elizabeth kneeled down and took the girl in her arms. "Carina..." She held the girl as close as she could.

Elizabeth kept holding her daughter and looked at Jack, "How? She is dead..." She had tears in her eyes as she held her daughter.
