HAIIII, I'm Dee!

Alrighty, so I was discussing this idea with the awesome people at The Shh/TP, and everyone seemed to like it so I decided to give it a try!

Plot:
What happens to the many witches and wizards who attend Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, and all the other wizarding schools of Europe (and the rest of the world too, I guess) after they graduate?
According to HPL, nothing.

But that's no fun. College is one of the most exciting times of your life (or it's supposed to be, anyway. Lol)!
So, why not start up a university just for witches and wizards around the world? This isn't going to be the first university ever, in this RP universities are as normal to every witch's and wizard's life as it is to us muggles; nothing out of this world.

Wenlock University, founded in 1479 in honor of the popular witch Bridget Wenlock, is one of the largest magical universities in London, and it's well-known for its high standards and notable alumni. This is where our RP will be taking place, where a large group of students coming from different wizarding schools all around the world will meet each other for the first time (or not, perhaps some of them had already attended school together), and together enjoy some of the best years of their lives - there's still exams, and classes, and that stress that came with their first schools, but there's also a lot more freedom. You get to choose what classes you're going to take, when they'll start, how many days a week you'll go; there's no such thing as "detention" anymore, you're free to walk out of class whenever you want; and there's no nagging parents waiting to scold you for getting home at five in the morning. You're in dorms, there's no parents to give you rules! You're finally… an adult.
What you do with your time is entirely up to you; whether you do your homework or attend class is, again, up to you. You don't have to eat your vegetables anymore, and no nagging teachers will take House points away from you if you wander around past curfew. There is no curfew. But you still get to have the fun of joining sports teams if you like, and this time the matches aren't friendly little games between Houses - you play against other Universities now, against people who are seriously considering these sports to be their career. If sports are not for you, you can always join sororities or fraternities - as long as you make it past initiation.

So what will become of your characters once they begin living "the college student lifestyle"?
Some kids might go wild, they can't handle so much freedom. Will they go to class only once a week, take only two classes per semester and spend the rest of their free time playing Quidditch, partying, and chasing after girls until three the next morning?
Or will they continue with their goody-two-shoes personality? Take three times more classes than the average student, spend weekends locked up in their dorms studying?
Perhaps.
Or perhaps, some people will change… the nerdy girl will suddenly become the one everyone looks up to as the most beautiful, the most charming? Will the typical jock with his perfect grades and amazing Quidditch skills become a failure, too lazy to attend his classes and suddenly shunned by his classmates?
Who knows!

What your charries do in college, who they socialize with, what cliques they join, how they spend their weekends, how they perform in classes, everything is entirely up to you. Make them kings and queens, or make them failures. It's up to you. =]

So, the RP is obviously about kids attending the same wizarding university.

The layout for this school will be the same as any other muggle college or university, the only difference would obviously be their majors and classes which would have to match something kids in the wizarding world would take, obviously.

Some Must-Knows

All the kids in the RP should be either in their freshman or sophomore year. No seniors about to graduate or anything, please.
There will be two students per dorm room.
Roommates must be girl-girl or boy-boy (bahaha, no, you don't get that much freedom yet!)
Your character's class schedule is entirely up to you. It would be nice to have at least some charries with similar schedules so they can attend a class together and have a bit of it RPed out, though not the whole thing.
If your character is a sophomore, he or she may already be part of a fraternity or sorority, and he or she may help come up with the evil tasks they'll have the freshies do as part of initiation into their frats/sororities.
Characters are not limited to just students - you can RP a sports coach, a professor, anything you want.
Since this is a university, not everyone will be native to its location (which would be England, I suppose). Your charrie may be an international student, if you want them to be.
Since we're starting up a whole new school from scratch here, it would be a LOT of work and too much info at once to give you guys like a whole layout of the school's buildings and classes and this and that, so you may make that up as you go along.
Be crazy, have your charries perform wild stunts, get them in trouble, put them in unlikely situations, just add on to the plot to keep it fun!
If you guys have plans with someone else about dorming your charries together, just add in your bio something like: "Roommate: Bob Smith." If you don't have a roomie yet, we'll randomly mix the charries up together; aaaand if your charrie just doesn't want any roommates at all, he or she may have a single dorm room for themselves (just make sure to clarify that in your bio.)
We'll be starting the RP about a month after the first day of classes, so everyone should be at least a little familiar with each other.

Alrighty, guys! So… I'm kinda dumb.

Turns out there's no sororities or frats in English universities, or they go by another name, I'm not sure. Either way, it's too late to move the school to the US now, soooo… uh… here's a Wiki page on what sororities and frats are?

But since this is just an RP not a REAL univ. and stuff, we're just focusing on the putting-freshmen-through-difficult-tasks and hardcore-partying parts of being in sororities or fraternities.

So!

"Cerchiamo rock e roll... cerchiamo..." Jill repeated with slightly furrowed brows; though her accent was so thick and strong, that had she been in Italy at the moment, she probably would've only received odd looks from anyone she addressed. She was distracted from any failed attempts at improving her pronunciation, though, as the boy at her side asked if she felt alright, right as they walked down the stairs to the first floor of the building. Jillian's eyebrows rose slightly and her light brown eyes widened a bit - what, was she that obvious? "Hah, what? Nervous? What makes you say that?" she asked with a clearly uneasy chuckle, trying to wave it off as silly - always count on Jillian not to admit when she was feeling nervous or uneasy. She felt it ruined her I'm-so-tough-so-don't-mess-with-me image (which, though she thought she had it, she really couldn't even scare a fly. Her childlike features and small, slender frame worked against her in this case). "I'm not nervous, just... excited! Yeah, I'm... excited."

Faris snorted as he tried to hold back a laugh. He had heard people try to impersonate an Italian before, but Jill's impersonation had to take the cake for being the most... overdone. "Not quite Italian. I think you nailed something close to... a Cambodian cat with laryngitis. But keep practicing, you'll get it." Faris laughed as he held the door of the building open for her before exiting himself. Once stepping onto the grounds, Faris felt that the usual calm, academic atmosphere had changed. It seemed different, competitive, excited, and almost savage. He looked about warily before continuing to follow Jill. "You just seem a bit... jumpy. But whatever you say." One corner of his mouth curled into a small half-smile as they neared their destination. He felt a bit anxious about even attending Rush Week events. He could only imagine how tense Jill might feel about actually participating in initiation.

Jillian's jaw dropped to the floor as Faris compared her attempts at speaking Italian to 'a Cambodian cat with laryngitis'. "Oh, thanks a lot!" she said sarcastically, though there was amusement curving the corners of her lips. "Nothing to encourage a student to improve than comparing them to a cat with laryngitis!" she said before chuckling to herself, obviously amused by this. She shrugged her shoulders slightly as the boy then went on to tell her she seemed a bit jumpy, though she was relieved that he was quick to drop the subject. "C'mon, the Alpha Pi Delta house isn't too far off," she said, beginning to lead the boy through the crowded campus and toward the houses. "Maybe seeing it will help change your opinion" - ever the stubborn one, she still hadn't given up hope on Faris joining a fraternity - "it's truly amazing."

Faris almost began laughing when he saw that he had lightened her mood. He might have (somewhat) insulted her, but at least she had gotten a laugh out of it. "Remember, practice makes perfect." He wagged his finger in the air in an imitation of Professor Connelly, their mutual instructor. He might not have cared for the Professor that much, but making light of his silly antics always made him feel better about Connelly's frequent chiding insults and snickers at Faris's choppy work. "Oh, sure," Faris began as it was his turn to be sarcastic, "Especially since Alpha Pi Delta happens to be a sorority, sì?" He shook his head as a low chuckle escaped his lips. Maybe Rush Week wouldn't be so bad if this light humor would continue all the while through.

Jillian couldn't help but laugh lightly as Faris began to imitate Professor Connelly. Poor Professor Connelly; but he brought it upon himself that his students got so much fun out of teasing him; had he not been so strict, they probably wouldn't find the need to mock him. Either way, the girl could already feel her nerves calming as they neared the Alpha Pi Delta house, its large front doors wide open as they welcomed the freshmen inside. Jillian turned to Faris as they entered the house and the boy sarcastically agreed that this would help change his mind, especially since Alpha Pi Delta happened to be a sorority. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know it was fraternities you were interested in! You just.. seemed more like a sorority type of guy, y'know," said Jill playfully, as if sororities admitted guys. She chuckled softly to herself as she led the way into the house, her light brown eyes going over its interior with a sort of fascination, the memory of her first visit coming back to mind. "Oh, you should see the pool! It's huge!" she said, now beginning to lead the way over to the back of the house in hurried and excited steps.

"Very funny," Faris simply smiled as they entered the house. Upon their entrance, Faris noticed a bevy of girls that were surprised at the entrance of a male. A couple snickered while a few simply stared at the dark-skinned alien. After swimming through the sea and females and having caught up to jumpy Jillian, he couldn't help but keep his jaw from dropping. It wasn't just a pool; it was almost like an ocean. "Wow," A single word escaped his lips as he surveyed the lush swimming pool, complete with a jacuzzi on the side. There were even a few cabanas. "These girls know how to live," He murmured as he looked on in awe at his surroundings.

Jill grinned as Faris expressed his disbelief over the scenery that surrounded them, mentioning how the girls of the sorority knew how to live. At this comment, she couldn't help but laugh lightly. "And I'm pretty sure the boys in the fraternities aren't too far behind," she said, turning away from the pool and to the boy at her side with slightly raised eyebrows. Poor Faris; there was no way Jill was going to stop bothering him about this. "Actually, since you've been so kind as to accompany me here, I think it would only be appropriate to accompany you to some frat houses too, once we're done here, don't you think?" she asked. "Just to have a look around, I promise I won't force you to try out!" she quickly added.

At her next statement, Faris snapped back to reality as a smirk appeared on his thin lips. "Nice try, Jill," He shook his head in mock disbelief as he took a hand to rub the back of his neck. "I'm good with helping you get into a sorority. My opinions are the same, and a pool the size of the Atlantic Ocean wouldn't make me change my mind." Faris looked the small girl directly in the eyes, wondering if she would dare try to force him to shuffle his feet along to a frat house. Just in case, his free hand traveled to his back pocket and grasped his wand, ready to fend off Jill and her stubborn ideals.

Jillian sighed and shook her head slightly as Faris told her it had been a nice try, obviously not falling for her failed attempts at persuading him, though her features seemed amused as she gazed at the pool absentmindedly. She listened quietly as the boy at her side spoke again, explaining to her that he was alright with helping her get into a sorority, but his opinions were going to stay the same. She returned her gaze to him with a slightly creasing forehead. "Oh c'monnn! I'm just asking you to look at the houses, not to actually join the fraternities!" she said, before resorting to different methods and more bluntly adding, "Or else. I'm sure the water in the pool's nice and refreshing, maybe I could convince you to take a swim instead," she said, raising her eyebrows just very slightly, mischief in her eyes.

Faris remained still, not sure if Jill had another trick up her sleeve. His eyes flickered between hers and the pool before he looked inside of a pair of sliding doors that led into the sorority house. "It would be nice to take a swim," He gazed at the calm waters of the pool, "I mean, I haven't swam since I've been back home. But... I don't have my trunks, and wouldn't it be considered trespassing since we're not members of Alpha Pi Delta?" His brow furrowed as his mind remained indecisive. He bit his lip as he tried to decide which road to take.

Jillian listened as Faris spoke, and her light eyebrows rose slightly with amusement. She wasn't sure if he was being playful and sarcastic, or if he had honestly taken her seriously and didn't catch that she was threatening to push him into the pool (ever the little devil)? "You don't need trunks and who cares if we're not members? I'm sure you can flee the scene before the house mum catches you," she told the boy. "Or, you could just accept my offer to check out the frat houses," she added more innocently, smiling.

Faris, ever the naive Italian, stuffed his hands into his pockets as he continued to think. "Still..." His face scrunched up in thought. Was it worth gaining the enmity of all of the members of Alpha Pi Delta simply over a little swim? He could always go to one of the frat houses and see if they had a pool, but this one was here and it was magnificent. "You think I'd get it trouble if I rolled up my trousers, took off my shoes, and just put part of my legs in?" He asked contemplatively, still ever the indecisive.

Jill could not believe her ears. The boy was honestly taking her seriously! And worst of all, he was actually considering to take a swim in the pool! But wait a minute - he wasn't supposed to like or even consider the idea of swimming in the pool! That was the whole point of threatening to push him in, in the first place! Jill shook her head slightly to herself, but opted best to get a little fun out of this before coming clean. "Oh no, no, they won't mind," she said, waving it off as completely harmless. "It's still early, there aren't that many people around, and most of the freshmen are distracted checking out the second floor anyway. You'll be fine, go on," she assured him, urging the boy into the waters.

"Alright..." Faris relaxed out of his defensive stance and sat down, beginning to unlace his trainers and pull off his socks, tossing them to and fro. "Are you coming in as well?" He asked, looking up at Jill's mischievous face. Poor, poor Faris. Sometimes, he was a little too naive for his own good. He would discover Jill's traitorous treachery soon enough, though, as events played out. He began to roll up his pant legs, hitching them up to his knees as he waited for Jill's response.

Jillian tried her very best not to laugh as Faris began to unlace his trainers and pull off his socks, the most amused of smiles on her face until he asked if she was coming into the water as well. "Oh, uh-- see, the thing is... I, uh... I'm allergic to chlorine," she lied. And she couldn't help but feeling a little guilty about tricking the boy like this, but... was it really her fault he was so naive? And was it really her fault she found his nature to be so amusing? Nah. "I'll just be right here, keeping a lookout in case anyone comes," she assured him.

Faris simply shrugged his shoulders, none the wiser to Jill's devious plan as he rubbed his hands together, ready to make his trek into the sparkling clear waters of Alpha Pi Delta's sea of a swimming pool. He approached the edge of the pool and dipped a tentative toe in. The water was perfect; the girls of the house probably kept a charm on it to keep it working well all the year through. Becoming a bit nervous, Faris sat at the edge of the pool and let his his legs, from the knees down, be submerged in the water. He kicked around a little, glad to gain this small bit of freedom.

Jillian watched Faris with amusement for a moment before turning her gaze back to the house. There were a number of girls wandering around in the kitchen, it wouldn't be long until one of them caught sight of the boy dipping his feet into their pool -- "Just what do you think you're doing?!" one of the girls nearly growled as she burst through the glass doors that led outside to the swimming pool. She looked old enough (and scary enough) to be in her third year in school, maybe even about to graduate. She was already pulling out her wand and making more angry demands when Jill took the boy's arm and began to drag him out of the pool. "Oh, look! You've been caught! You won't be allowed to even glance at this pool for the rest of your time in this school!" she said with fake worry and concern as she now began to drag the boy back into the house, leaving his shoes and things behind. "C'mon, we better go before that senior hexes your head off." And head where else but to a fraternity house?

Faris tried to pry Jill's hand from his arm, having little to no success in doing so. Picking himself up and walking on his bare feet, he began, "But my shoes! My clothes! My WAND!" He attempted to slow Jill down, ready to face the angry sorority girl in order to gain back the most precious object that he had ever possessed. "JILL!" Faris was yelling now. "Stop it!" Jill must have either been really determined to get out of the situation or have been taking steroids, as she didn't seem to want to stop in her tracks or release her iron grip.

"I'll summon them back with my wand, just move!" Jillian repeated, though there was the most amused of grins on her face as she made her way through the crowds of girls and toward the foyer. Most of the girls gave the pair odd looks - here was a little freshman girl running around like a maniac, and then an Italian boy barefoot with wet feet yelling about something. Eventually, as they made it out of the house and were at a safe distance from the angry senior sorority girl, Jillian slowed her pace and released Faris. "I think you could get expelled for this," she told him, putting on a serious face. "You've gotta hide - what about this house?" she suggested, pointing at the nearest fraternity house. "Just walk in there, blend in with the crowd, and wait til things cool down at Alpha Pi Delta."

Layla came down the stairs from the Sorority house. She stopped in amazement when she saw Faris, along with Jill, dipping his feet into their pool. They then disappeared and Llayla went running off after them. "Faris?" she asked in her thick french accent. "What are you doing?" she asked and then looked at Jill. "Bonjour Jill. I hope you are ready for today" she smiled at the younger girl.

Faris groaned but followed Jill until they were outside of the house. Had it been his imagination, or had he caughten a glimpse of Layla? He could have sworn that he had heard that thick French accent, but maybe it was his racing mind playing tricks on him. His brow furrowed as he looked back and forth between Alpha Pi Delta and the frat house for a moment before he crossed his arms, an irritated expression clouding his usually friendly features. "Hey," He began, "You tricked me! You-you..." He rubbed a hand over his face, peeking through his long fingers to take another look at the frat house. "I suppose you're right. No use being expelled after only a single month here." Before shuffling his bare feet in the direction of the frat house, he gave her a serious look, his eyes narrowed, "No funny business anymore, alright?"

Jillian nearly jumped as she heard her name, though when she realized it was just Layla and not an angry sorority girl, a smile came to her face. "Layla!" she greeted the girl enthusiastically. "Yes, of course I am! I just... Faris here kind of got into a bit of trouble back at the house, but aside from that everything's alright," she explained.

She then turned back to Faris as - oh my! He agreed to go into the frat house! Triumphant, Jillian gave the brightest of grins. "Oh no, of course not! I'll be good from now on. Promise," she said innocently, though it would be rather naive of Faris to honestly believe she wouldn't cause more trouble after this. Though if she did, it would be completely unintentional. She had achieved her goal of getting the boy into a frat house now, there was no more scheming in her head at the moment, just pure triumph.

Turning, a smile appeared on Faris's annoyed face. Maybe Layla could save him. "Ciao, Layla," He smiled. "I know this might be a bit awkward, but would you mind gathering my things? I left them by the pool when this ragazza-" He felt the need to inject some of his own language; he didn't swear at all but had simply used the Italian word for 'girl,' "-dragged me away too quickly." He made an attempt to laugh at the embarrassing situation, hoping Layla would understand and not think him a freak, wierdo, or anything of that nature. That had been the last time that Faris Patino would trespass anywhere again.

Jillian's jaw dropped. Huh? What?! 'Ragazza'!? What was that supposed to mean? "Hey!" she said, turning to Faris with furrowed brows. "What did you just say?" she demanded, poking the boy with her wand. "It had better been something nice! I just saved you from a sorority girl's wrath!" - after getting him in that situation in the first place. But of course, Jill wasn't going to mention that bit.

Layla grinned at Jill. "Well I am glad you are. Ze girls are all getting ready right now." She raised an eyebrow at Faris. What had he been doing? Although she nodded and agreed. "Err...Oui Faris.
