After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

Harry avoided her question, felling that it was better to talk about things in a solid sort of way, instead of about emotions. "Well, she came to the Burrow the other day and kind of kissed me..." Harry said, then braced himself and said, "After I kind of told her that I love her."

Harry looked down, and instead of directly answering her question, said "And today I kissed her." He hoped she didn't ask the previous question again.

"I love Ginny," Harry said simply. He would not say that he loved her more, because he didn't want to break her heart, even though he probably already had, as big-headed as it was to think.

Elizabeth was beginning to feel a bit frustrated, as well as hurt. Why couldn't Harry just give her a straight answer. Hearing him say that he loved Ginny, it felt like a knife was being slowly twisted into her heart.

"So" she sniffed. "I guess this means you don't want to marry me then?" She quickly dived into her handbag for a tissue, and started to cry.

"I can't, Elizabeth." Women crying always hit Harry hard. But he couldn't change his mind now. He loved Ginny. "I have to do what I feel is right, and my heart is telling me that I love Ginny."

"O-k then" Elizabeth said in between sobs. She looked around and saw a couple of people giving her weird looks. she attempted to compose herself, the last thing she needed now was to cause a scene.

"I-I think you should leave now Harry"

"Elizabeth..." Harry was honestly afraid that she might turn up to the Burrow... or now his house, because the wedding plans would be over, and try to hurt him in his sleep or something. Women were strange creatures, with minds even more strange. "Look, I'm sorry, but I would be setting you up for a life you wouldn't want to live... and it's better to be honest than to have had something terrible happen later in the marriage."

Elizabeth stood and walked away down the street, not really knowing where she was heading, but knowing she couldn't go back to the burrow, not just yet.

Well, at least it's over with, Harry told himself and he trudged gloomily down the alley with his hands in his pockets. He couldn't have possibly believed her to take it well and say something like 'Oh, Harry, that's fine, do what your heart desires because it is good for you.'

He couldn't help feeling bad, however, because he had given so much of himself to Elizabeth and when he proposed he was so sure it was the right thing to do. This all seemed so much like something Aunt Petunia would read in a book or watch on the television during the summer holidays.

He glanced up as he passed a young couple, holding hands and peering into a Quidditch store window. They had matching rings on and Harry could not avert his eyes from their hands. That could have been he and Elizabeth. But on the other side, the side that seemed so much brighter, that could be he and Ginny someday. That got him thinking. What would happen if he and Ginny just went out sometimes and never really went anywhere with the relationship? What if Ginny found someone better like Harry did with Elizabeth? He shook his head and told himself not to worry for now and continued walking down the street.

Suddenly, Harry remembered Mr. Weasley saying that he needed to escort Harry home because there had been some sort of development. It had something to do with Voldemort or the Death Eaters, Harry presumed. How could have been so thick as to have been caught up in his silly, childish, tangled love life and not even care that his life may be in danger?

This made him turn around and look at where he was and with whom. He had wandered into a dark, desolate sport of Diagon Alley... it almost reminded him of Knockturn Alley. He was feeling very vulnerable right now... almost as if someone was watching him. He shivered and started to make his way back up the alley, walking a little faster than normal.

"HARRY POTTER!" Molly Weasley stood at the head of the alley and her sharp voice echoed around the cobblestones. "What do you think you are doing?" She proceeded down the street, where she grabbed Harry and forcibly dragged him out into the sunlight on Diagon Alley. "Arthur just owled me, telling me that you were not to leave the house alone, and what do I find? That you are gone. No note, no word, no explanation. You are coming home with me right now."

Tara walked in silence with Snape for a ways. She was a woman who was used to the quiet, and she was unencumbered by the need to fill any spaces with needless conversation, finally, she shook herself from her own thoughts and offered back some of the same curtesy Snape had offered to her. "And for you, Professor? How is your research going?" She had no idea what he was researching, and she wondered if he would answer her honestly and tell her of some amazing new life-enhancer he was creating for Voldemort. Still, polite people asked about another's work.

Snape was nearly startled out of his thoughts, not being a man easily startled, as Professor Sinistra spoke again. So, it was idle chatter about work. Well, it was certainly better than speaking about the weather. "Slowly," he answered.

"However, I expect more progress wil be made over the next few months. I find it easier to concentrate on my own work when I am not constantly surrounded by the infestation of students," he said, sneering.

Harry was being dragged down Diagon Alley before he had a chance to assess what was happening. "Mrs. Weasley..." He gasped, trying to dodge people who he was being bumped into because of not being able to change the postition of where he was, for Mrs. Weasley's grip was so tight. "I didn't know I wasn't allowed out. I had come to see Ginny." Not allowed out alone? What was going on?

"Ah, yes," Tara said, stopping abruptly in the hallway and peering at Snape closely. "I had quite forgotten that you don't actually like the students. Fascinating." She turned and continued on down the hallway as if she had never stopped. "Surely there are places for you to continue your work, Professor, that would be free of such a problem."

"Arthur didn't tell you that it would be best for you to be accompanied since your life is at risk?" Molly asked skeptically. "And what are you doing with Ginny? I assumed you were having breakfast with Elizabeth since she was out as well. Where is Elizabeth?" She pulled him into Flourish and Blotts, where there was a safe apparation point.

Harry counted off her questions and tried to answer them. "No, he didn't tell me. I... just wanted to talk to Ginny. And Elizabeth... well... I'm not sure where she went," Harry said with an uneasy look about him. He felt now might be a good time to ask why exactly his life was in danger, not even seeming to realize the people in the store. "Why is my life at risk?"

"There are," he said, prepared for this qeustion.

It was always inevitable that someone would ask him why he was a professor when he hated the students so much. Since he couldn't give his real reasons, he always settled with a half truth; the more truth you can put in a lie the more believeable it was. He'd had a lot of practice with lying, as well. Even the Dark Lord couldn't tell when he was or was not telling the truth.

"However, none of the other options provide me with an income and a place of residence," he replied.

At this point, most people would begin to ask him about a job with the ministry and either stop before the words left their mouth or in the middle of asking the question as they recalled the rumours surrounding his particular loyalties. He wondered how this soft-spoken, carefully discrete, witch would react.

Molly shook her head. "Let's go home first," she said impatiently. She apparated in a crack, and waited for him to appear in the Burrow. "I don't know why, Harry. You'll have to talk to Arthur. He did tell me he mentioned to you that you needed to be cautious. I suppose we both should be used to you ignoring such advice by now."

She pushed him into a chair and accio'ed a cup from the countertop. Tea poured from her wand, and she settled the cup in front of Harry. "Now, dear, how is Ginny doing? Have you seen the flat? Is it lovely?"

Tara weighed Snape's words. It was a careful answer, really not giving much information away and either assuming ignorance on the part of the questioner or the power of intimidation on his part. While she wasn't really intimidated, she also recognized a plea for privacy. She nodded as if his answer were acceptable. "Yes, Hogwarts is an exceptional place to live, isn't it? I haven't been in the dungeon in years, but the towers are quite satisfactory for Astronomy work. Of course, one always has to clear children out of the towers to work, but such is life."

"Oh, yes, it's quite nice," He said, recalling Ginny's flat. He thanked Mrs. Weasley for the tea and wondered when he would be telling everyone else about his decision. "Mrs. Weasley..." He started. He knew he could trust her, but she was the last person he wanted to have a conflict with, "If something really wasn't what my heart was telling me to do, and I acted on that evevn if it caused lots of ...pain for other people... well, one person." He hoped she didn't misunderstand and think he meant Ginny.

"Yes, they tend to pop up all over the place," he sneered. "I imagine the astronomy tower is as popular a place as it ever was for midnight rendezvouses."

They arrived at the apparation point and he stopped, unsure of what to do next. He actually quite enjoyed his shallow conversation with the astronomy professor, though he was loathe to admit it. "You're heading back to Hogwarts?" he clarified, checking the clock upon the wall. "Would you care for some lunch before your slumber?"

Molly dropped into the chair across from Harry and summoned her own cup of tea. "Harry, I have no idea what you are asking me. Just tell me what's going on with you lately. I couldn't possibly get angry; you're like my own son. And maybe I could even help you a bit."

Tara gauged Snape carefully. He was the enemy, she knew that much to be true. She was on the side of good, or at least on the side that her logic told her was right and worth helping, and he was a man whose allegiance lay with the Dark Lord. He probably hurt and killed people. But that didn't mean she should have to put aside her obvious fascination with the interesting man. Plus, she did have to eat.

"I hate to inconvenience you, Professor, but it is nice to eat with another human. I find that most professors are not around on my schedule and the house elves aren't much for conversation. Their linguistics are rather fascinating, though." She bit her lip, knowing she was about to start rambling about something interesting only to herself.

He thought for a extremely brief moment that just telling her everything would do the trick, and so, on a whim, told her. "Okay, I don't love Elizabeth. I love Ginny." He wasn't sure how much to tell. "And we kissed. Twice." He looked up at Mrs. Weasley, trying to predict her reaction, but could not even start to think of what she would say or do.

Snape wasn't sure how to respond to that, but at least she hadn't turned him down. Now, where would they go? It would take a while to walk all the way back to the castle and he didn't want Minerva to get any ideas. The woman was insufferable. Always trying to poke her nose in his personal life; she was almost as bad as Albus. "Was there any place in particular you would like to go?" he asked.

Molly stared at Harry for several moments. If he was anyone OTHER than Harry, she would suspect he was having a go at her, but Harry's entire countenance exuded honesty and a bit of pain. She had always wanted Harry as part of the family, and there was no part of her that objected to Harry being with Ginny, but she had never seen any indication in Harry that he cared for Ginny. It would be tragic for both of them if this went further only to end abruptly.

"Harry," she said gently, putting her hand on his. "Are you sure you love Ginny and this isn't just about nerves? Everyone gets nervous and thinks they might be getting a mistake. Just a few days ago, you loved Elizabeth and didn't even think about Ginny. I know Gin is all grown up now and very pretty in her own right, but that's not love."

"There's a nice Muggle pub just around the corner," Tara suggested blandly. She knew, of course, that he would despise being around Muggles, but if he was taking suggestions... "I actually eat there whenever I have an appointment here because the food is good and its close. They never even blink at my robes, either, which is a bit of an amazement in itself."

He was more than a little uncomfortable at the thought of emerging into the muggle world and eating with them, but he had asked her where she wanted to go. She also assured him they wouldn't be risking exposure. He really had no reason to say no. "I suppose one must be open to broadening one's horizons," he said. "If you would lead the way, I haven't had the pleasure of arriving to the ministry by any other entrance than the apparation point or by floo."
