After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

Harry smiled. This did seem somewhat surreal. Two days ago he was engaged to someone completely different who he was lying on a couch with now. And he had made the decision to do what he felt was right. And today, he had been accused of doing something with yet another woman, gotten punched in the jaw, and now was lying here with his best friend's little sister. But she wasn't just Ron's little sister anymore. She seemed like his other half.

He stroked her hair softly, loving the feeling of her hair and her head on his chest. At the moment, he was insanely glad there were no photographers or cameras in the flat.

They sat companionably for several moments, until Ginny's eye caught the clock sitting on the counter. It was new, so at first she just admired it and wondered where they were going to eventually put it. Once that wore off, however, and she studied the time, Ginny sat up and gasped.

"Harry! Its almost lunchtime and I haven't been to the store yet. They're going to fire me! I'm a terrible employee." She sighed heavily and rose to her feet, drawing him up with her. "I need to go back downstairs and work." She pulled his head down and kissed him with all the passion she could muster, leaving him quite breathless. "That'll have to serve you for a while, Potter. I don't think we can be seen doing that in public."

Harry blinked, like a camera had just gone off in his face, quite surprised by Ginny. "I think that'll do," he said, trying to regain his breath. He followed her downstairs into the store. "Well, I did need a few things here. Tomorrow I go back to work, so..." He gave her a quick kiss on the forhead as she went off to attend to some customers and he walked outside into the sunlight.

Ron looked up and smiled at Elizabeth, looking preoccupied. He put down his glass of pumpkin juice and started, "Hello Elizabeth. How are you? I hope that you're adjusting well." He sipped more. "I didn't know that you and Harry would end just like... that, you know."

People were talking all around Fred, and yet he couldn't focus on much of anything they were saying due to the amount of alcohol he had consumed in such a short time. A ladybug crawling across the table had his undivided attention for the time being. Fred had built an entire fort of toothpicks for the Ladybug, unnoticed by the others. He grabbed the arms of Luna and Guin, and pulled them both close to him, bringing them eyelevel with the table to show them what he had done. "What do you think, should I name her Lucy or Ethel?" he asked whispering to the girls that were close to his sides. "I bet she would like some of Mort's finest too," he said continueing to whisper and pouring the last drop from his bottle in the middle of the fort.

"Yeah, it was kind of all of a sudden, but i should have confronted him about the gut feeling i had earlier - i knew something wasn't right, but he seemed to be avoiding me"

Before George responded, Luna found herself pulled down to the table by his inebriated twin. "I think Ethel would be most appropriate," said Luna, seriously. "You are experiencing the effects of too much ethyl alcohol in your system, after all."

She chuckled at her little joke, completely unaware of the fact that no one else, with the possible exception of Hermione, would even be able to appreciate it. "Though I'm not sure she would appreciate Mort's finest as much as you do," she smiled at Fred, attempting to stifle a yawn, yet failing miserably.

Fred sighed. He was 20 something old, and was catching a hard time from everyone for drinking too much. "Ethel it is then." Fred prodded the lady bug toward the huge drop of alcohol in the middle of her fort, finally putting her right in the middle of it. "Well, at least someone else appreciates your finest, Mort!"He said yelling back at the bartender.

Fred set back in his chair, and let Ethel have free reign of her Fort for a while. He looked around the table at his company. How on earth did a pair like Fred and George always have such pretty girl surroundings, and yet neither of them had ever dated a girl over a couple of weeks? "George, " Fred called over everyone, "how is that we land ourselves with such lovely company? I mean, come on....we have three beautiful girls sitting all around us as we speak. How do we mangage it?" Fred was letting Mort's finest speak for him again, but it was a genuine good question in Fred's head.

“Well...” Ron started. “I think he still needs some time to think. He's been always like that. It also happened when Sirius vanished, you know, after our encounter with the Death Eaters and Voldemort.” He paused, “Give him some space so that he could think about this.”

He watched her as she ordered firewhisky. He interrupted and said to the waiter, “Just give her a glass of pumpkin juice.”

"Well, I don't know, Fred," George said, humoring his quite inebriated twin. "I suppose it has something to do with our dashing good looks and witty repartee." Fred was eyeing the girls speculatively, so he hastened to add. "Of course, I don't think you'd get any farther with these lovely ladies than a brisk shake of the hand, so maybe you better rein it back in over there, old boy. I'd hate to have to carry you home drunk AND bleeding from some sort of poking wound." He glanced significantly at Guin when he said that.

Fred eyed each of the girls around the table probably a little bit too long for comfort to the girls, then back to Fred. "Sheesh George ole boy, you make it sound as if I'm going to jump the girls right here right now. We all know I'm the gentle one. Just look at Ethel!! Ask her! She'll tell you I'm the gentle one.." Fred nudged Ethel onto his finger and held her up. Ethel immediatley took flight, and flew around the table. Fred, already kind of growing attached to her leapt up with his wand, and tried summoning her back to him. He was failing miserably, and his summoning spell was shooting all sorts of things to him from around the bar: a stool, a weird old ladies's hat (that he put on for safe keeping), a broom, a camera. A camera? Something in the fuzzy mind of Fred clicked, making him forget about Ethel for a bit. The photographer in the street...Ginny..."AHA!!" and Fred dropped the camera with a loud crash to the floor, pretended to fall onto it (which wasn't hard due to the fact his legs were still numb), and rolled around in the pieces of the camera on the dirty floor. And who said Fred Weasley can't hold his alcohol?, he thought as he broke as many pieces of the camera as possible. He had just saved Ginny a lot of embarassment.

Fred, somehow, managed to get up from the floor. The weird old lady marched up to him and took her hat back, and Fred returned to the table. Then......he spotted her. Ethel...two o'clock....Hermione's shoulder. Fred pounced at her, caught Ethel, but couldn't stop his momentum.He took himself and Hermione to the floor, conviently enough landing right on top of her, and surely squishing her.

Fred, again, somehow managed to stand with numb legs, and pulled Hermione up with him. "I...I am so sorry Hermione." He started brushing her off and set her seat back up for her. "Are you alright? I know that had to hurt...." Fred took her hand and made her sit. "George? What was that about just getting a handshake?" Then he grinned back at Hermione..

"It doesn't count if you grope them against their will, you prat," George jumped out of his chair and checked Hermione to be sure she was okay. He gently lifted her chin to check both sides of her face before he left her side to steer Fred back to his seat. "Now, I hope I can trust you not to molest any of the rest of these ladies?" He looked uncertainly at Fred, wondering if he should sling his brother over his shoulder and head back to the shop. "Unless any of you lovely young things want to volunteer?"

Fred put Ethel back in her fort, then gave all his attention back to Hermione. He was really feeling bad about his last little display, and seriously not wanting her to be hurt in the slightest. "Mione, I am so sorry again. And despite what my very blunt brother said, I wasn't groping or molesting you. You are ok aren't you?" Fred picked up Ethel again and put her into Hermione's hand. "There..you can keep her for my nearly killing you.."Fred said smiling expectantly at her.

Hermione was quite taken aback when she found herself on the floor with Fred on top of her. She blushed deeply as she took her seat and smoothed her skirt, not looking up as the boys were talking of what just happened and what it could be classified as.

She lifted her head only when George did it for her, apparently checking for wounds on her face of some sort, which, too made her go a shade pinker. Fred asked her if she was okay, and she felt the tiny ladybug placed in her hand. She smiled at looked at him, "I'm fine, Fred, don't worry about it."

Luna pushed away from the table when Fred lept up; she was too tired to be caught up in whatever he would end up doing. Fred and George were normally quite mischeiveous and she could just imagine what Fred might do while inebriated. As if on cue, Fred started rolling around on the floor and then, fell on top of Hermione. Luna moved to help her up but, it seemed Frad and George had that under control as Fred brushed her off and sat her in the chair and George looked her over to be sure she wasn't hurt. Luna leant back in her chair, grateful their attention was focused on Hermione and not herself. She put her hand up to her mouth as she yawned again, continuing her observation and wondering if she should start heading back to the flat.

"Well, I don't know her that well or anything, but she seems to like you alright, Hermione." Fred spun his empty bottle around with his fingers a few times, thinking about Ethel. "Hermione? What do you say we walk up the street to that little patch of trees? We can set her free....unless you were wanting to keep her that is?...She does seem to like you good bit..." Fred leaned in close, "But you might have to help me walk a bit...if you haven't noticed, I might of had a little too much to drink and it's a pretty long walk.."

Hermione smiled down at the little bug crawling over her palm. "Okay, I guess she deserves to be free, huh?" She watched the ladybug a few more seconds before looking up at Fred. "Come on, then," She said, getting up, and pulling Fred with her, really hoping that he would be able to support himself.

Fred was so pleased that Ethel was going to be let free. She was a good ladybug and only deserved the best, or so Fred thought. Fred let Hermione help him to his feet, but paused to get his balance before taking any steps. He put his arm around her shoulder for balance, but managed to keep most of his weight up himself. "We'll be back after we emancipate our little Ethel. Everyone say goodbye to her!"He said reaching for Hermione's hand and holding it up so everyone could see Ethel one last time. Everyone humored Fred and said farewell, and Hermione and Fred left the pub.

They stepped out into the sunlight and Fred nearly fell down it was so bright. "Sheesh.." and he pulled out a funky pink pair of shades."They're Ginny's. I swiped them the other day to ...um...well, to better them, but I kind of forgot about them. I was going to put a "Sticking Charm" on them so she couldn't remove for a couple of days. I'll have to put them back tonight...but what do you think? Is pink my color?" he asked slyly as they moved slowly up the road.

Luna got up after Fred and Hermione began walking out the door. "I really should be going," she said. "I promised my supervisor I would get some rest. Goodbye George, Guin."

With a slight wave, Luna turned around and left the pub. Hermione and Fred were slowly making their way down the street so, Luna decided to run over to the other side in order to make better time.

Hermione spotted Luna and tried to keep Fred looking at her, because Luna obviously had the intent of going somewhere, and Hermione knew that if Fred saw her, he would joivially invite her to Ethel's goodbye party. She looked at Fred, "Uh... Fred..." she searched her brain for something to say, and moved a little closer to him, with a little giggle, "You know... you're quite... cute when you're drunk." Had she really just said that? Well, the good thing was, in the morning, chances were, he wouldn't remember.

Fred felt Hermione pull him closer, much closer than he had ever been to her before. Well, with the exception of his latest act of mischief where he was flat right on top of her he hadn't been that close to her. That was an accident...she was being all close to him on purpose and stuff, even him with his pink glasses on. "Um...really? I thought someone like you would be all grossed out by me and my well, we won't call it drunkeness...let's go with ...'Not quite soberism'. Sounds more sophisticated, if you ask me, although you aren't asking me, and I'll be shutting up now..."Fred said awkwardly then blushed. He didn't have the slightest idea what to do. But he let Hermione stay close to him and he started walking again.

A huge black bird flew over head and Fred leaned his head way back to watch him. He leaned back just a bit too far, and his funky pink glasses fell of his head, landing in the street behind him. "You know what Hermione? That bird might eat Ethel..maybe we shouldn't.."and then he spotted Luna hurrying down the other side of the street. "LUNA!! Where you off to? Did you see that bird??"

Luna looked over when Fred shouted her name loud enough so that everyone on the street was suddenly looking at her. Quite used to people looking at her oddly, this didn't bother Luna so much. But, she was tired and she sighed as she crossed the street over to Fred so that she wouldn't have to shout back to him. She had the distinct impression that, now he saw her, he wouldn't be letting her off the hook so easily. It was safer, in the long run, to comply.

"No, I didn't" she said, casting Hermione a querying glance in regard to her extreme closeness to Fred.

When Luna walked over, the purpose of distracting Fred had disappeared, so Hermione should have moved away a bit. However, she didn't, consciously aware of it, and wasn't sure why. "Hello, Luna," She said to the girl, watching Fred, who seemed to be searching the sky for the bird.

Fred picked up his, or rather Ginny's, sun glasses from the street. He was about to put them back on, but had then thought better of it. He lightly put them on Hermione's face with an abnormally sweet grin. "They look better on you anyways, and besides...I have to keep an eye out for that bird. We have to make sure we let Ethel go somewhere far away from that beastly bird!" Fred scanned the skies again, checked Ethel in Hermione's hand, then took a step towards Luna. "So? You coming Luna? You are the godmother of Ethel afterall, you know..you did name her...I think it's only right that you come along too." Fred, put an arm around each of the girls shoulder and marched off the down the street.

"What do you say we sing a song along the way? I'll start and you two join in on the second verse, "OHHH The ants go marching one by one.. Hoorah Hoorah!!" Fred sang to top of his lungs, but as usual, the people of Diagon Alley were used to him and Goerge, and not many heads turned his way.
