Scott smiled back at her, smoothing his napkin over and over again - he was nervous, and seemed to be in constant need of fidgeting.
"Pretty good, tiring forst day at work but all right, thanks," he replied with a smile.
The conversation had a strangely intimate air about it, but he liked that for some inexplicable reason. He liked Nina, too, he was beginning ro realize - more than he had thought originally.
"So..." he cast his mind for something to say, but drew a blank. This wasn't good. He didn't want to look like a stuttering fool in front of her! perhpas she'd say something, anything, to get him out of this awkward moment...
Nina cleared her throat before anything else.
"So I've got a new head in my department." she said.
"Armen Recard. Ever heard of him?" she asked.
Oh good, they seemed to be getting back on track from all the silence.
She gazed into his eyes, wowza, they were amaaazing. She smiled as he agreed, she was glad in a way imagine if half of his relatives were muggles and she'd just said they were rude and insulted them luckily he thought the same. "Mhmm." she mummbled, too busy staring into his eyes to give him a proper answer.
What ? Oh um right. Ehh. What was she meant to say ? She couldn't say, well no not really I think our conversations a bit awkward. But then she didn't really wanna lie to him. "Um. Yeah i'm...fine." she said with a smile, trying to look believable.
She nodded at his next comment. "A little Brother." unfortunately, he was like 20 years younger, so she had to baby sit him ALL the time. But she didn't mind it when he shut up about spider man. "My parent's are a bit. Old fashioned, they like to keep 'em years apart." Apparently a LOT of years apart. "He's called Cody, hes 6."
James wondered what she was staring at. Was it his excellent bone structure? His gorgeous tan? His superbly styled hair? Hm. He couldn't decide. They were all so lovely.
He grinned at her distracted answer. Ahh, he was so intensely awesome he didn't blame her. "They were bad then?" He teased, watching her with a cheeky smirk.
The twenty seven year old sighed, "We're doing a bad job at this.." he stressed the word 'we' because it was impossibly that it was only HIS fault for the awkwardness. "Just relax.."And let James Parker charm the senses out of you..
They both had younger siblings? Guarghh. "What's he like?" Her tone gave James the thought that Cody was a little terror. "Cody? That's a cool name!" Much more interesting than James. Urgh. "Six? That must be fun.. " He'd had that when Callie was six.. she'd been a nightmare and a half.

Stepping into the restaurant after work Kenzie looks around hoping to see Erik. They were to meet after work there at the restaurant, and she couldn't wait to see him. It had been a long day, and she looked forward to their evenings together.
Nodding to the waitress, she smiles and says she's waiting for someone.

Erik walked into the restaurant across from the ministry and smiled as he saw Kenzie waiting on him. Straightening his collar and tie he wandered over and sat down across from her, "Sorry I'm a bit late." Smiling he watched as the waitress came over and he ordered a glass of water.
His eyes went to Kenzie and he relaxed. Here was a woman he didn't need to impress, didn't need to put on the charm for cause she already knew him and liked him for who he was, not the act he put on. "How was yer day?"

Looking up as Erik approached, her smile brightens. "You're not late at all." she replies happily. She was just thrilled he was there. Didn't matter if he was five hours late she'd still be happy to see him.
"Mmmm, getting better." looking across at him, her eyes twinkle. She wonders if she would be able to get him to sit next to her instead.

Erik laughed at Kenzie's reply and looked at his watch. "Nope I'm a bit late in fact." He smiled as the waitress brought him his water and then turned his attention back to Kenzie.
Hearing her remark he met her eyes and smirked. "Is it now...well what did ye do all day then..." He asked with a smirk as he sipped his water.

"Well, I had an interview." she replies with a wink. "I think the job will be a nice change after the work I've been doing at the ministry."
"How about your own?" she asks sweetly. His must have had more to it then hers, considering his new placement.

"Fantastic!" Erik replied with a smile. She hadn't told him she was going in for an interview. "Where was it at? The interview that is."
He gave a shrug and took another sip of his water, "Oh it was alright. Didn't do much except talk about shrunken head bowling and introduce people." Of course in his line of work a slow day was a good day so he'd take it.

Grinning at him, she replies "You're looking at the new DP photographer." Taking a sip of the water the waitress had brought earlier, she sits back a little relaxing more.
Her eyes widening Ewww!!! she thought disgusted. She always found those things repulsive, but bowling? Instead though she said "Fascinating." Trying to keep her voice from being sarcastic. Mentally shaking her head, she wonders where that sport came from.

Humming happily and holding Brian's hand as she walked into the restaurant to meet up with Mackenzie and Erik, Becca smiled at them both "Hey guys!" she waved at them and then looked up into Brian's face "C'mere mister." she hugged him tightly and kissed him on the cheek gently before grinning "Shall we ask to sit with Kenzie and Erik? Erik is the new Law Enforcement head and Kenzie is my ex-employee" she looked into his eyes, smiling.

Brian's face was smily as usual. The cool head made his way into the restuarant with his lovely wife Becca, hand in hand. "Ofcourse, why not?" he responded to her with a big grin across his face. Spotting the two people at the direction where Becca had waved her hand, he coughed. He knew them, vividly..especially the guy, Erik.

Smiling at him, she kissed him again "I know what you're thinking" she looked into his eyes "And I'm still upset about it.. But can we put it behind us? We're gonna have to work together in the Ministry and the annoyance over this wont help." she reasoned, wanting to make Brian feel more comfortable around Erik in the future too. "Come on love." she encouraged him, taking both of his big, strong, flawless hands into her own and then pressing them against her cheeks gently as she kept looking into his eyes, smiling the whole time.

Looking up as two people walked into the restaurant. A smile lighting up her face as she recognized Becca, she waves back "Would you like to join us?" she calls over to them.
Maybe now Erik would sit next to her instead, she thinks scooting over so there's plenty of room.

Giving an approval smile at the young lady who was seated with Erik, Brian's gaze came back to Becca. He wondered why Becca was talking like this. Was she worried? Did she think he was annoyed or losing his temper?!
The cool head shook his head, "Hey, wait. You know me, right? " he grinned and squeezed her hand softly, looking back into her eyes as conveying his thoughts silently.

Smiling at Brian's approving smile and nodding, she cleared her throat "Yeah, sorry love" she kissed him again and fell silent at the look he gave her. Looking apologetically back at him, she turned slightly and pulled his arms around her as she led the way to Mackenzie's table.

Erik saw the grin on Kenzie's face and then when she spoke he grinned himself. "Daily Prophet Photographer? That's awesome!" He was really happy for her and now he knew she was going to stay for sure and that made him all the happier.
Seeing her eyes widen at the mention of shrunken head bowling he laughed, "It was somethin' an employee brought up. Don't really know why either..." He shrugged and took another sip of his water when he saw Kenzie wave at someone. Looking over his shoulder he saw her old department head and that security guy and he sunk down a bit. Greeeeeeeeat. He looked at Kenzie and shook his head with wide eyes as she invited them over. Looking back over his shoulder he sighed and stood up as Kenzie moved over. "Ye do remember the last time I saw them..." he whispered to her as he sat down next to her and brought his glass of water in front of him, his arm slipping behind her comfortably.

"Thank you" she replies with a smile. Now she had absolutely no reason not to stay. She had a job, a home and a wonderful man to keep her there now.
Watching him sink down a bit, she looks at him curiously. Her thoughts turn to the last time he'd met them, suddenly it dawns on her. Whispering to him "It'll be fine, Brian's just very protective of Becca." Having seen him take care of her when the illness had struck, proved that to her.
Cuddling closer in the nook of his arm, she smiles at the two approaching.
She was unpredictable, sometimes, even for him. Silly Becca.
Brian shook his head, "Dont be. Let's go and meet them Mrs. Mysteries." he smiled at her and Kissed on the side of her neck softly as she pulled his arms around her and leading towards the table.
Sensing the guy's thoughts through his gaze, he sat down on the seat across them and pulled Becca next to him gently, arms snaked around her waist now. Well..very well hidden under the table, right? "Hello guys! How is life?" he started the conversation casually with his big smile that touched his eyes too but not really liked the uncheery atmosphere around the restaurant though. He was a cheerful person, never liked a dull moment, "Why this place is dead calm?" he asked in general and enjoying the scent of her hair greedily.

She giggled at Brian's kiss on the side of her neck and grinned. She sat down with Brian and giggled happily again as he pulled her next to him and put his arm around her waist. Leaning her head against his shoulder, she beamed and then looked up at her husband "Good point" she took his free hand into hers and started playing randomly with his fingers. "You look happy Mackenzie." she observed, smiling. She was happy for the woman!

Had he noticed her staring ? Hm. Maybe, probably. Oh, awkwardddd. She wrinkled her nose before quickly covering her face with her hand so he couldn't see her cringing. DUH. Now hes gonna wonder why your covering your face, stupiddd. She pretended to flick a peice of hair out her face, before biting her lip. Why was she so stupid ? EURGH. They were bad ? Who ? Whoops. "Uhm. Yeah." Lets go with that.
What had she done now ? Obviously something bad because he was sighing. A bad job at what ? She'd better ask. "Uhh. I dont mean to sound stupid..." but I probably do anyways... "But um, what are we doing a bad job at ?" she tried to relax. It didn't really work in these chairs they were like those posh ones that made you sit up straightly and it was impossible to slouch on.
What was Cody like ? Oh, weeeeell. "Being completely truthful." which she always tried to be..."He's loud, strange, runs around too much and talks about spiderman non stop." And VERY annoying, she wasn't gonna say that though it'd make her sound obnoxious. "Yeah. Its a complete party in my flat when he stays over." Not.

Erik smiled at Kenzie as she got comfortable in his arm and kissed her head, "I can understand that." He smirked and held her close to him as he watched Becca and Brian come up.
Looking around at the restaurant he nodded, "It does seem that way doesn't it." Listening to Beccan an Kenzie he smiled and gave her a hug. Of course she was happy..they both were. "What are we eatin' I'm starvin'." he said with a grin.
