Default Astronomy Lesson: Here comes the Sun

The shadows were lengthening as Kalen walked around the chairs he had set up in a semi circle in front of him, the sun was in its decline and soon the world would be darkened again, but there was still a few hours of sunlight left, enough time for the lesson the Astronomy Professor had set up down by the banks of the lake.

He nodded at his work and made sure the mild heating charms were in place before he took his place beside a small table that was his makeshift desk for the afternoon.

Despite the early October date, it was getting a bit chilly and the wind off the lake was brisk, but the charms should hold and he could increase them if was needed.

There were no food or drinks present at this lesson, even his own precious cup of tea wasn’t anywhere to be seen. There may have been new leadership, but Kalen wasn’t taking any chances.

He leaned against the table and checked his watch again. Students should be arriving at any moment.

OOC: Welcome to Astronomy class!. Just remember that even though this is the first Rp’d class this is not your first class with Professor Kennedy! Come on in, say Hi and feel free to have a seat and we will continue on in about 24 hours.. ish! Also please keep the chatting to a minimum! Class has started! All late comers will face IC consequences, so feel free to pretend like your Charrie was here all along.

Natalie rolled her eyes. HARD.

She had been taking notes in her notebook while trying to formulate an answer that hadn't been voiced already (but honestly she was discovering that she didn't really know much about the sun). Maxton was smart, she knew he HAD to be, but sometimes his answers made her want to crawl into a hole. He was her OTHER HALF in the Slytherin leadership and consequently, HIS bad answers made HER look bad.

At least that's what she thought.

Natalie, unable to let his answer slide, (due to her need to be seen as practically perfect) raised her hand. "Professor, I think what Max meant to say was that humans need sun to survive. The sun provides Vitamin D, which is something that we all need to function at high capacity. So, when we go soak in the sun, we consequently are able to get tan. Or sunburned."

Was she done? No. "Furthermore, the sun provides heat to the earth. Without it, we would freeze to death." To say the least.

I mean, wouldn't you just end up pouring those savings back into maintaining the equipment, which was expensive in the first place? And heaven forbid you lived somewhere there was a lot of hail, high winds or tornados. You'd be replacing those suckers after every storm, practically! A thought that made her give a small chuckle.

Kalen nodded, “Those are very good thoughts Miss Calrissian. ” He said with a smile.

Raising her hand, and sort of echoing/adding on from the answer the first year, Charlie, gave, she said, "Most of the stars that we can see at night, except, like, a few really faint ones, are actually BIGGER and BRIGHTER than Sun. The Sun only seems bigger and brighter because it's closer to us."

So they were going to be studying the sun?

Oooooh, cool, that meant her sun and stars fact had related quite nicely to the lesson's topic.

ANYWAY. Yeah, how was the Sun useful? Maybe it was one of the more obvious answers but Tessa was going to give it anyway. "The sun can be used to tell the time. I think Hogwarts actually has a sundial somewhere, right? They designed to cast shadows that will, uh, line up with a certain time."

Kalen nodded. “Excellent answer Miss Roberts, they can indeed be used to tell the time. ” He was glad that answer had come up! And she would see why soon.

She didn't really know her yet, but she seemed like a nice person so far... definitely nicer than those idiots behind the polyjuice prank in charms class! Seriously, what had that accomplished besides trouble, lots and lots of trouble? Tina nodded politely to acknowledge the other girl, but class started before she had time to say hello. Oh well, she was shy about initiating conversations anyway...

Tina listened intently to Professor Kennedy, half-expecting the man to explain the unusual setting for the lesson, but that didn't happen yet; he said he'd get to that later. Why couldn't he tell them now and be done with it? Tina wasn't sure whether to be intrigued or slightly annoyed. She hated not knowing! Unanswered questions led to uncertainty; uncertainty led to upheaval, and so on... Kennedy's question had her even more curious. So, something to do with stars at a time when they couldn't see any stars? Tina thought. What could that be?

The dark-haired Ravenclaw was half listening to her classmates' answers, half thinking up her own. She didn't want to repeat what had already said; it was unnecessary and, in her opinion, showed a lack of effort. Her mind filtered through her knowledge of stars until... her hand went up. "Most stars are red dwarfs," Tina said when called on. "Red dwarfs are less than half the mass of the sun and burn with 1/10,000 the energy." Oops, that was technically more than one fact, wasn't it?

Tina felt a little stupid when she heard the subject of the lesson. The sun, of course! It was so obvious... or at least it should've been if she didn't get so caught up overthinking it! Okay, this could be interesting. And Kennedy said they were going to be studying the sun for months. Did that mean they were going to have more outdoor daytime classes? Tina was so up for that!

Practical uses for the sun? Tina thought for a minute, but both of the answers she came up with off the top of her head were taken. Now she really had to think harder. Ooh, she had something! Her hand went up and she said, "In some parts of the world, people use sunlight to treat drinking water. They fill plastic bottles and leave them in the sun for at least six hours; the process is supposed to kill bacteria..." Though personally, Tina doubted it.

Kalen nodded. “Indeed they can, good answer Miss Dantes. ” He said with a warm smile.

But as for the questions they weren’t that complicated and Caolan was able to answer them without thinking too hard.

The fifth-year enjoyed science at school and biology was one of his best subjects. It took very little effort to search his memory for an answer that hasn’t been mentioned before. He raised his hand like he did the first question, politeness and all.

“The basis of life itself comes from the sun. Without the sun, plants wouldn’t be able to photosynthesise. We’d have no oxygen to breathe, no food sources to grow, little materials to build with..” I mean it was pretty obvious that humans needed plants for practically everything. These magical kids knew what photosynthesis was too, right? He continued just in case.. “Sunlight is used for energy- it’s converted into chemical energy to help the process along.” That will do.

He lowered his hand and slumped back in his chair as he waited for everyone else to answer.

“You are correct, Mr. Wilson, it does indeed do all
Of that. With no sun, we would have no life, ”
He said with a smile.

Abra raised his hand. "This is both modern and old, I think, but people use the Sun for Divination. It's called Heliomancy and you look at the sun's rays and the shapes they make, and also shadows and omens and stuff like that."

Listen, Abra BELIEEEEEVED in Divination, fully and totally, so it was only natural that his brain should stray to an answer like that. Actually, it was sort of the easy option actually, because there was a kind of divination for practically everything, so naturally there would be one for the Sun. It just helped that he already knew what it was.

Kalen nodded as Abra spoke. “Mmmm, you are right. Very good answer Mr. Botros. ” Kalen wasn’t much for divination, but he appreciated the magical answer. He hasn’t thought he’d get one, so cheers to you!

How people make use of this star we call the sun?

"Professor," he started, raising his arm in the air once more. "Some people use it to try and catch a tan."

Kalen had to hold back a laugh as Max spoke. “You are not wrong Mr. Carden.” He said with a grin. “Not wrong at all.”

So many facts about the sun crossed Drewett's mind. Whether it be about botany or astrology or even divination, all of the things were basically written in their textbook. He liked to be well-rounded on things, even with topics they never really learned here in Hogwarts. Honestly, they could get something out of a few Muggle lessons here and there. Drewett was particularly biased when it came to science and mathematics. "Vitamin D, p-professor..." he shared after raising his hand.

And aaaah, photosynthesis. Drewett quite liked that lesson even if his typist did not.

What did she know about the stars? Not very much aside from what they had learnt last year and what she had happened to read in her encyclopedias growing up. However, her hand moved into the air easily enough - waiting her turn before answering. “I know that every star we see at night, is much bigger and brighter than the sun.” Nodding her head, she twirled her quill within her fingers, getting ready for all of the notes that she would be taking.

After all, this would be important… Right? He wouldn’t ask them to do something that wasn’t relevant… Not like Professor Dopple. She was crazy… Actually, more like Krazy with a K like her dead kneazle… She really should check on that poor thing and make sure it was still moving….

How was the sun used? Other than to get a tan and to make everything bright and shiny and happy? Hmmmm. Holly thought about it for a minute or two as she listened to some of the answers her classmates were giving before she slowly raised her hand. “Professor? I’m pretty sure the sun helps to make our weather patterns… Like how the moon affects the sea’s tides.”

Or so she thought. Once more, she continued writing down everything that was said - scribbling Professor Kennedy’s own notes next to it if there was anything interesting.

Kalen nodded as Holly spoke, “You are right, Miss Tamesis. ” He said with a warm smile at her.

Eamon's eyes had been long distracted by the surface of the water. So much so that he'd missed the first question entirely. But that was fine. He didn't exactly have all the answers here. Or any? Astronomy wasn't exactly his cup of juice. It wasn't something he prided himself on being good at. But that didn't mean he didn't enjoy the lectures. Which was why he was here year after year (and also because it was mandatory).

His gaze lifted finally, falling on the professor as the students began answering the second question, quickly picking up that it was about the sun.

His hand went up carefully, not completely sure if this had been said or not but.... We'll give it a go. "It makes the moon shine." Wait no. That sounded stupid. "It well... the uh, the sun reflects off the moon so that we have a bit of light at night."

Flustered? Eamon? Always.

Kalen nodded as Eamon spoke. “You are right, the sun does reflect off the moon, Thank you for your answer Mr. Macnair.” He said with a smile.

Lucas sat there, head tilted slightly as he tried to take in everything the man was saying. They were going to be learning about the Sun? Huh. He glanced up at the sky, his thoughts now wandering away, and not because he was distracted by the lake. He really didn't expect them to be learning about the Sun - and it wasn't the first star he thought of when the professor mentioned stars - but he probably should've seen it coming. The time, the setting.....

....... oh? A question?

Blinking, he tuned back into the lesson just in time to hear other students' answers about the Sun and its...... uses? There were a lot of smart answers here - and he meant a LOT - but all he could think of was the most obvious one. And it was, uh, probably dumb? But it was TRUE!

So, up went the hand with a bit less confidence than it had done before. "We need the Sun to see." Pause. "I mean, we have Lumos and fire and electricity but before all of that, people used to rely only on the Sun to see the things around them and go about their day. And we still kind of do. Kind of. "I guess it's why we've..... grown to do things in the daylight?" That last bit he..... wasn't sure about but he was throwing it in there.

Kalen nodded as Lucas spoke and he grinned at the boys answer. “You are correct Mr. Dakest, and that’s indeed why we do things in the daylight. ” He said with a nod

And as it turned out, the sun would be the subject matter for a bit of time. Cool…or rather…hot.

As for its practical uses, the current question of the lesson, the fourth year had to admit that it wasn’t hard to think on them. You just had to speak up and give them before your classmates said anything. There was heat and light. Powering your homes which was mostly a muggle thing. Telling time. Treating water. Getting plants to grow and prosper. Divination. Tanning, vitamin D and keeping oneself cheerful. All were good uses of the sun that his fellow students were spouting.

“To dry things. Whether your clothes after you wash them, or surfaces affected by rains and floods.” That was what he could think of that hadn’t been said already.

Kalen nodded. “You are right, thank you for your answer Mr. Hadley-Nairne ” He said with a smile.

Plus the dreaded O.W.L.s next year.

But what did she really know about the sun now? All of the quick ones, like vision, energy, warmth, they were spoken of. Giving it a random go, she raised her hand, "Er... does it help with gravity?" What did she mean by that? She had no idea. But like the moon and tides, perhaps the sun did something else to something else.

Kalen nodded. “Indeed it does, the sun’s gravity helps pull us around it in our orbit, so without it, we’d just be a ball of dust spinning randomly in the cosmos. ” He said with a soft laugh.

Although, the Head Boy himself had just suggested that very thing, so she'd been beaten to the punch.

Oh, well.

As another thought came to mind, Torii raised her hand. "The sun helps us measure time. For example, when the earth makes one full revolution around the sun, we know that a year has passed," she said. There was also the measuring a day, too, but she decided to save that idea for somebody else to suggest.

“Miss McKinley, Mr. Carden, while I appreciate both of you elaborating on each other’s answers, any more of this and we will be having a meeting in the common room yeah? ” Can they please not make Slytherin look bad? Hmm?

Kalen grinned as he heard the answers, but there was one in particular that he had hoped to hear and thankfully it was said fairly early on.

Sundials!

“All of those are excellent answers, and I wish we had more time to expand on them, but for today we will be studying, sundials. ” He said with a grin.

“Or rather we are going to be making our own sundials, with materials that you all will be finding around here, now these sundials won’t be fancy, unless you all want to fancy them up yourselves, but for now.. I want you to go find a large flat rock, and a stick. A fairly long one.” He said with a smile.

“So, up you all get and go search around the lake and the pathways for your materials.” He said with a nod.

Welcome to the mini activity! What you need to do is go have your student try to find the materials that Kalen listed for them. They can feel free to gather other materials as well if they want to make their sundials their own. But the main materials are a flat rock and a stick!
Feel free to go post the students on the grounds looking for and or finding the materials and then put links to your posts in here!
Thanks guys! You have about 72 hours for this task.

Patrick listened intently to what they were going to be studying today. He got to thinking about all the things you could do with the sun. He knew you could tell time with the sun, and use it to dry your clothes which he hated doing. But there was another one that most people hadn't said. At least he thought you could because his brothers had always told him that when they went camping.

"Similar to what I said earlier, you can use the sun to navigate. Right?"
he muttered the affirmation because he was fairly certain that you could. The sun's position always told you east and est directions, if you could remember that. "Because the sun goes east and west, which allows you to know which direction you're going in." He supposed he could have it totally off.

He heard the sundials and the directions before he began to head off and find a flat rock and long stick.... flat rock and long stick.... flat rock and long stick.

Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space.

So Jó had been quiet throughout the questions because really he didn't care or have anything extra to add and watching the Lake to see if the Giant Squid would make an appearance was WAY more interesting.

And then people were getting up and the second year had to concentrate hard to try and remember what the Professor had just instructed them to do. Find a flat rock and a long stick.

Didn't seem too hard. With another glance around him, Józef got to his feet.

COMMENCE THE SEARCH.

Sundials. Huh. You know, for as long as Abra had known about sundials, he'd been confused by them. Like, how exactly they were supposed to help you tell the time, and whether it needed to be set up facing a specific direction or something. He supposed that now, in this lesson, he was going to have his questions answered. Presumably.

... Huh. Not exactly very specialist materials involved, were there? A stick and a rock. Abra had seen sundials before and he was fairly certain they usually involved more than that, BUT... Kennedy did say they wouldn't be making very fancy ones, so he was just going to roll with it.

When they were given the go ahead to get on and start looking, Abra got to his feet along with everyone else. Before leaving the sanctity of the warming charms, he pulled his robes a little tighter around himself, and then went off on his search.

curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog

How was the sun useful to them? Well, they'd all die without it. Which was a point that both the Slytherin prefect and that Natalie girl were - for some reason arguing about? Trying to one up each other? What was happening?

She got so distracted by it that she totally missed her change to answer the question. They'd already moved on to sundials - which, ironically, was what she was going to talk about if she hadn't gotten distracted with her answer.

They had to find their own materials? Well, it was an excuse to get up and move around for a bit which was nice. She stood up and cracked her knuckles. Time to get started!

OOC: Thank you guys so much for your participation! We, Kalen and I really appreciate it! The question for this part of the lesson is “How is the sun useful to us.” Thanks! You will have 36 hours ish To answer this before we move on.

Though Steph could do star charting faster than anyone she knew, talking about the sun wasn't much of her favorite. Mainly because she couldn't talk to anyone about how useful a star could be. "Back in ancient times, when people used a sundial to tell time, it was the sun's positioning that would cast the shadow onto the dial. To this day, people can use the sun to tell time without a sundial. If the sun is positioned right above you, its 12 noon. to your left, morning. To your right, afternoon," Though Steph would never recommend looking directly at the sun. Permanent damage that way. "Sunlight also helps plants grow on Earth, which is useful to humans. It also provides us with light during nights when the sunlight reflexes off the moon," Nod nod.

"Also, sunlight helps bring up levels of serotonin in your body, which help improve your mood," Okay, Stephanie, that was enough.

BUT YAS THEY'RE MAKING SUNDIALS!

Stephanie wasted no time in heading off on her own and looking for the materials she'd need. Though her best bet to find a flat rock would be by the lake so she stayed around the section first. She doubted it would be hard to find a long stick near the trees.

Valencia grinned. Sundials. Those were cool too. She's also made of these before. She put a flag on her playhouse in the yard and arranged the rocks on the perimeter in Roman Numerals. It was fun, until the animals ran through all the arranged rocks with Connor chasing after them.

Anyways...

She followed the class out, heading toward the lake once on the grounds. That was the best place to find a smooth rock.

Oh, a SUNDIAL. That was terribly clever and useful, although Chloe had a feeling they were building something too unwieldy to carry with them from place to place. But it would be fascinating to learn how to create something like this, and perhaps she could build one again someday.

Chloe popped to her feet and immediately began to study the ground in search of a flat stone and a long stick. The stick would be much easier to select than the stone, unless she was determined to pick a stick that had fallen naturally to avoid damaging any trees unintentionally. She shuffled her feet as she walked, turning over smaller twigs and pretty leaves to reveal the stones underneath. Annnnd perhaps she also collected a few pretty leaves because she liked how they looked, all red and gold and sepia toned.

You'd think collecting a simple rock and a stick would be easy to do. You'd think, but that wasn't the case. Maybe Torii was trying too hard or something, because it was taking her forever to find a rock that she deemed flat enough. She'd never thought about it before, but rocks just weren't flat. Most of them were odd shapes that somewhat resembled round balls. Very few were flat, though.

When Torii finally did find a flat rock, it was only the size of a coin, and she doubted working with something that small would do her any good. Frowning, she tossed it back onto the ground. The fourth year walked along the pathways, gently kicking a few leaves to the side as she walked. That was when she found it. It was a rock she thought was just perfect for a sundial! It was large and flat and just so perfect!

Torii bent down and brushed some the dirt off the rock. Holding it in her hands, she began looking for a stick to go along with it.

Patrick quickly joined the group that was all beginning to have a flat rock and stick in their hands. He was a little winded as he had jogged back to the group since he had walked all the way down to the pathways to find his rock and stick.

It had paid off because it was a very flat rock. One that if it wasn’t so large would have been perfect for skipping across the lake if he hadn’t been afraid of the creatures in the Lake. He looked down at his stick and wondered if that would be too large or not. Deciding he would just wait for further instructions he stood patiently with his rock in one hand and the stick in the other.

Huh? Sundials?

Merlin, Eamon. Stop daydreaming in class.

There was something about rocks. He knew that much. So he stood with the rest of the class and as they all headed off, he changed course and went toward a different area of the lake. More rocks? Better selection? Something like that. Anyway, what else did they need? It couldn't just be rocks, could it?

Well, time to find out.

Max barely heard Professor Kennedy's threat of a 'meeting in the Common Room.' No disrespect meant, Professor, but he was still delivering LOOKS across the semi-circle to Natalie McKinley. She was so annoying. But..... it was the kind of annoying he didn't mind too much. It was entertaining teasing her.

He was so distracted he didn't even hear the next set of instructions and quickly turned his attention to the others in the group who were getting up and moving?????

"Uhhhhhhhhhh."

Caolan wasn’t big on being the first person to answer a question, nor was he one of these enthusiastic raise your hand and wave it in the air type of people every time a question was asked but this school seemed to have given him a bit of a confidence boost when it came to his education. He wasn’t dumb by any means, in fact arguably he was quite intelligent, he just hadn’t put as much effort into his school work than he perhaps should have. The professor praised his answer and his body visibly relaxed, a small smile gracing his face.

The lesson moved on and the smile fell momentarily from his face. What was this? A treasure hunt for kids? He got that some of these students were only 11 years old but did they really have to waste time looking for a rock?

He wrinkled his nose and headed off in the direction of the lake looking for the ‘perfect’ pebble. Or really just any old stone that looked like it could do and an ordinary stick. He was really into Astronomy but making sundials wasn’t on his agenda.

With the rock in his pocket, bouncing against his leg with every step he took, and the stick in hand, Abra walked (still sort of speedily) back to the lesson area. He didn't slow to a stop until he felt himself enter the boundaries of the warming charms that had been set up. Ahhh. Better.

Taking up his same seat again, Abra took the rock out of his pocket, lay it on his knees with the stick, and waited for the rest of the class to return from their respective searches. While he sat, he wondered to himself exactly how they would be using these two components to make a sundial, and exactly how well it was likely to work.

Aaron loved the Sun, so that was great. It was vital to all life, so who wouldn't be fan? He zoned out for a few minutes, thinking about flowers and bees, considering other important uses for solar energy. To put it plainly, the Sun was pure energy. And the longer he sat there, thinking as deeply as he was capable, the answers flew. His classmates were smart, and didn't leave much to be debated. With a notebook, qulll, and inkwell out, the Hufflepuff started a list. Professor Kennedy had mentioned this would take up half the year. So, it seemed a good idea to keep track of what had been said

Huh. Too late for him to offer new insight, however.

Welp, you snooze, you lose. As they say.

A-ha! Sundials. That made sense.

Can't deny that he's enthusiastic about this project. After grinning at Chloe again, because she looked very pretty today, the Fifth Year set off in search of his supplies. He didn't know that much about rocks, but he knew what he was looking for. Something pearlescent. With a pretty sheen to it.

Aaron's wandering took him closer to the water's edge, where he tugged his robe closer around his body. Not because he was cold, but because he didn't want to get them wet. Especially as he leaned over to get a better look at the rocks available just beneath the surface. It was his reasoning that even if he found something that didn't appear that big, he could always magic it to spread out the "face". Like a clock face.

It took several moments to find what he was looking for, but the Puffer knew it when he saw it. Pulling it up from the water, his fingers trembled from how frigid the water actually was. Sweetie-chum, that was freezing. BUT...he got the rock he wanted. So.. brightside.

Hmmm. A stick... Aaron peered around, mind quickly trying to come up with solutions. The grounds were well-maintained, so it was difficult to find "sticks". However, there was a beech tree near the lake's edge... After securing the rock in his pocket, he moved closer to the tree, prepared to climb and pull one off. If he needed to.... Yeah, because he wasn't actually that tall yet.

Wrapping his arms around the trunk, he began pulling himself up gradually. It was only made easier due to his fit Beater arms, but hindered by the school robe. Needless to say, it took more time than made sense to crawl his way up. But once he did, he sat on a branch. "Hey, does anyone need a stick while I'm up here?"

It was always a bit of a relief to know that an almost guestimated answer wasn't incorrect, as was the case with the sun gravity. At least she knew what topic needed to be studied now, she hoped she would be a pro at it before too long. She didn't know much about sundials either, let alone make one, and had never used one, so this class would be a great learning experience.

Hopping up, as Professor Kennedy had asked, and started her search for a large flat rock, and a long stick. Not thinking it would take too long to find, she put her head down and got her search on. Further back from the lake she spotted a stick that she figured would be good enough, being that it was almost the length of her arm. She walked back to her seat and put the stick on her seat, saving her from carrying it around with her. The rock took a bit longer to find, but find it she did. Back on the grass further away from the lake. It wasn't too heavy, so she carried it back to her desk without needing any magic to assist.

After the questions Taddy was given the go ahead to search around for a nice large rock and big stick. That shouldn't be a problem for him. After all there were many rocks and sticks with all the trees surrounding this area. So he went near the lake where many rocks were to be laying. He squatted down to a pile and picked up one at a time to compare it's size. There wasn't all that many large ones, so he picked up biggest of the bunch before going off to search for a stick.

Tad approached some trees when he heard a voice above among the others. He looked up to see an older Hufflepuff. Oh, he had found some up there. "Can I have a stick, please?" Tad called up to ask. It didn't seem likely he would be able to reach up there with his height.

They were going to be making their own sundials. Now that was pretty interesting. However, first she needed to go take a walk and find herself a nice flat rock and a good sized stick in order to create the sundial.

Rising to her feet she slung her bag over her shoulder and headed off when told to do so. It shouldn't take to long to find what she needed and maybe a few other things along the way to help make it look 'Rylee-ish'. Only the very best would do.

So off she went in search of the items with a bright smile on her face.

"Uhhhhhhhhhh."
"...materials. We need to find a stone and a stick."

Cameron was being helpful, seeing as Max looked EXTREMELY lost. He wasn't really aware of why his friend had been distracted but the look on his face was unmistakably one of confusion. Not that this kind of activity was particularly challenging right now. A stone and a stick. That should be easy enough to find, yeah? They WERE outside after all.

Now, off to find a stick.

Kalen smiled as he watched the students hunt around for the materials, the sun disks were going to be rough, but they would get the idea pretty well.

“Okay guys, a few more minutes! ” He said as he looked around, no one seemed to need him and Cameron seemed to be informing Max what they needed to do, so he leaned carefully against his table and looked around.

OOC: Less than 24 hours to go guys!! Thanks for participating!

Rock? Check!

Stick? Check!

"Nice one. Mission success," Max commented, giving Cam a shoulder bump right back as they made their way back from the lake and re-joined the others gathered by Professor Kennedy.

He still thought this was a little odd for an Astronomy lesson and it wasn't quite as cool as looking at the stars but he was ready to get this sundial made. And hey, at least this meant there wouldn't be Astronomy TONIGHT and that meant more SLEEP.
