Default Out on the grounds (Charms 2 & Transfiguration 2)

_________________________________

After you have left the classroom, you are led to a wide open area on the school grounds. This is where the second portion of the joint lesson will be taking place so don't dilly dally in getting here.

In the sky, there are tiny hoops floating at even distances but those are none of your concern for the time being.

Gather around for the instructions to be handed out once the last of the stragglers have arrived. No worries about the crisp winter morning air as charms have been placed around the area to keep the temperature comfortable. Thoughtful; yes, we know.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Something was wrong with the hoops? Adi gazed up at them. They looked okay to him. Wasn't that a dragon doing loopy things through one of them anyway? The boy tilted his head, trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong.

It took him a moment but he finally did come up with something. "The dragons can possibly burn down the hoops,'' he suggested, his hand up. It WAS a possibility... unless the things were fireproof. Anyway, he had only one suggestion to offer, thank you very much.

Furthermore, in his staring and grinning and anticipating of said awesome activity, he chuckled at Hady's arrival. "Hey Lady Snake," he greeted in return. Lion. Yep, that he was.
Lady Snake huh? She supposed that was her. Zeke got a cute grin for that. Cause really she had called him Lion after all so it was both fair and true for him to call her a snake.

Hady's attention had quickly moved from the hoops to her little green Welsh dragon...sorry but he was more entertaining then some hoops right now. Klaus was headbutting the cage making some type of annoyed huffing sound. Could she let him out now please? Fitting a finger through one of the slots in the cage she stroked his head whispering to him, "Easy Klaus, I'm sure you can come out soon..."

Lifting her head to the hoops she shrugged her shoulders. They looked just fine to her so what was wrong with them?

Layla had taken her time to get out into the grounds, mostly because she felt no need to rush. She didn’t know anyone else very well around here and so had nobody to speak to anyway. She wasn’t paying that much attention to the dragon either, only checking back on it every once in a while as she sauntered down.

She did however make it there just in time to hear the Professor talking about what was coming next. Her attention was drawn up into the hoops and the otherwise straight-faced expression on her face fell into a frown. He hadn’t exactly explained what their task was but some of those hoops looked like they could be potentially human sized. There was absolutely no way that she was going to get on a broom and get up there. There was no need to either.

If professor thought otherwise he was clearly mistaken.

She stayed silent at the back, her attention focused now on the dragon and on the ground as she listened to the students proposing their ideas. She just hoped that what she thought was going to happen was wrong. Perhaps the mistake was that they were too big and needed downsizing. Or that they should be lower to the ground. Dragon could fly no problem, she on the other hand..

No. Just no.

Admittedly, even with a lazy stride he'd managed to somewhat keep up with the group, trailing behind only a little and miraculously ahead of some actual stragglers. Technically this would mean he was on time, yes? The others were simply early.

The Charms Professor approached the group, hands buried deep in his pocket and dragon making little screeching noises from his shoulder. Oi, should have put a silence charm on this one. It wasn't loud per say, not unless you had sensitive hearing.

Little conversations fluttered by but it was one in particular that got him interested enough.

Maddox came to a stop right next to Mister Earnest and gave a glance up at the floating hoops. "I'll wager 10 galleons. 20 if you do it in under a minute." And a perfectly solemn nod. No way of telling whether he was being serious or not...but he probably was because how funny would that be? Hah. His wife wouldn't appreciate him suckering galleons out of a little boy but he'd give them back. It was all for the experience.

But then he turned his attention to the rest of students gathering with their little dragons. For the most part they seemed to have gotten a handle on them which meant they'd done the spell right and there shouldn't be any surprises.

"Now we begin the charms aspect of this class." For anyone who'd missed the memo when they left the classroom. "Up there," Point point, "are a few tiny hoops, possibly big enough for a dragon to fly through. Possibly big enough for you to fly through. There's just two problems. Can anyone guess what those are?"

He would never admit it, but half the questions he asked were because of the kinds of answers he sometimes got. Occasionally, these children proved more entertaining than Quidditch.

Feeling a scratching at his neck, Maddox nodded a little then watched his dragon take to the sky. It was all the exercise he'd be getting so why not? So yes, any guesses before they got into it? Pay no attention to the tiny dragon doing loops through one hoop.

Of course, one could always drop the subject he supposed. Ehhh... principle still stood.

Once things settled down, he turned and payed attention to where the lesson was going with this.

And cue more ZOOMMMMGGGing.

HAND UP!!! HAND UP!!!!

"It'stoosmallforbothofustoflythrough!" he said in one single stream of consciousness. "I mean, if we're both to fly through them, we both need to be small enough." Ahem.

Best lesson ever... unless Quigley was just teasing. Was he just teasing?

Hmmm...a few trunk twists here and another look up at the hoops and Ezra was pretty sure he would try. One more glance around and...GAHHH Quigley had shown up?!??!

!!!!!!!!!! "W-What? Really? You're on!" The Gryffindor looked at Zeke and grinned widely. "I'm going to do it." Before Bellaire showed up, but he had permission right? There were 10 possibly 20 galleons on the line.

"Stand back professor!" Ezra made a large dramatic sweeping motion to make sure no innocent standerby would be hurt in the process. "Zeke make sure I don't die aka catch me." The Professor was more than capable yes but he might be mad once Ezra WON the bet.

Ezra bent down into a squat and prepared to jump. They were up pretty high. One, two, three!! "Ahhh!!" And he was in the air. No where close... The minute was passed. What was he going to do? He wouldn't loose and have to face the man again every Charms lesson. Think! THINK!

"Can I use magic, Professor?" He should be allowed. He pulled out his wand and tried to wrack his brain for a spell. He didn't know any good human transfiguration left but wings would be cool. Something to shoot him into the air. Another jump? This was going to be embarrassing if he didn't do it. Oh...that was it right? Ascend-me-o? Yeah?

Not knowing the correct wand movement and a variation of the incantation Ezra waved his wand in a jerky motion at the ground as he looked up at the hoop high above him. "Accendmeo!" Nothing happened at first but then he shot like a rocket, zigzagging like crazy until he thought he was going to break in half before the hoop was right in front of his face....

Now he was falling. Grab it stupid! He shouted in his head. In a second he grabbed the small hoop with one hand then two and hung from it. Even though it was small the Professor's spellwork kept him aloft. "More than a minute..." He said through gritted teeth and a smile. "But..I did it." Who said your spellwork couldn't be shoddy.

And a question has been posed to the class? What was wrong with the hoops for the lesson? "Umm...is it because...you all are down there?" Yeah he had won but he wanted down.

HELP Professor Dude.

Oh, look at that. Hoops. Hiiiii hoops. Norah looked up from King Phillip who was doing that ADORABLE thing where he just sat there to look around at the surroundings. SHE could fly through one of those? Now that was cool. The third year let her bag fall to the floor so she could raise a hand, still keeping a firm grip on the little cage because DUH. She couldn't just drop a dragon, especially the king dragon. "Well, I dunno about you professor, but I don't know how to fly. I don't think King Phil--I mean my dragon--knows how either." Unless he went off learning without telling her, but that'd be mean 'cause she MADE him, remember? Maybe dragons didn't need professors to learn how to fly. But maybe they DID and they had whole big schools like Hogwarts. MAN, that'd be awesome.

Halfway towards the grounds, the slytherin got bored of carrying the cage and pulled out his wand to levitate it instead. Much better. It sort of felt safer to not have the dragon so close to him. Not that any of them seemed to want to hurt anyone but just in case. They were dragons after all.

It seemed that most of the younger ones were racing out there. Dante was intrigued especially when he saw the hoops.

He carefully set the cage on the ground, dropped his bag and waited for the professor's instructions.

Evie still wasn't sure how she felt about being able to create a dragon, but she was trying to push the ethical questions aside for now and participate in the class. So, after she caged her little fireball, she followed the rest of the group out onto the grounds.

Distracted by the hoops, she wasn't watching where she was going and ALMOST bumped into Dante. Again. But she managed not to and instead kept her cool. But she did stand by him and give him a smile. "Hi," she said before trying to peek at his dragon to see what it looked like. Hers was just grey, but the scales got darker as they got closer to his skin, which gave him a cool look. She was pretty proud of that.

Walking to the grounds had taken forever right? But this was epic. There was a dragon obstacle course! Running her finger over her little dragon’s wings. Yes she liked her dragon – it just needed some friends right?

Grinning she brushed her finger against the little guy. “Duke we’ll be good,” she grinned and chuckled as she thought about how utterly awesome this guy. Her eyes widened at the Professor.

“Do you mean that we are going to shrink ourselves down in size?” She asked and gulped slightly. Really that was the only thing that made any sense. She was excited okay so excited.

Professor Quigley was actually taking the bet that Lux heard Zeke and some other boy making. The man just earned some awesome points in her book.

... But they would be taken away again if she was expected to fly because no that was not going to happen for a million Chocolate Frogs. Her gaze drifted to the hoops and she wondered how she had missed them before.

Raising her hand, she answered the question. "I think they are too small for us to both fly through." They wouldn't really have to go up there, would they? Because if so she was going to have to tell Professor Quigley that she was too scared of heights.

Angel raised her hand and smiled at the Professor as she held the dragon in its cage in her hand. "Is it because we all can't fly through the hoops together otherwise we would be trapped and we might all get hurt?" Angel hoped that wouldn't happened because the dragons were really scary and she didn't want to get hurt by even a small dragon.

As Kace was waiting for the Professor to catch up, he noticed Lux made her way and he smiled and nodded towards his fellow puff. "Heyy Lux. Well you got a nice looking dragon too. Great minds think alike." he winked and grinned. Now onto the lesson since the Professor made it here finally. He wondered what took him so long? Maybe he had to stay back and help others? Possibly.

He pointed to the hoops from what he could see through the bright sunlight. He needed his sunglasses or something. Quigly wanted to know what problems could they have with the hoops? He wondered about this..

"Professor could the hoops shrink on their own?"

Well... Toby could see more than two problems here. The problems depended on the intended goal and stuff. He was just going to go on the assumption that... he maybe wanted them to go through the hoops with the dragons? Because he'd MENTIONED the dragons AND them being possibly big enough to get through the hoops, so... that was the best logical leap Toby could make. He raised the hand that did not have hold of Ella's cage.

"One problem is that we can't get through the hoops because we can't get up there, because flying's not allowed at school right now." Sigh. "And another problem is that if we were allowed to fly up there, the dragon is too small for us to fly on. But we could just trust them to go up there and fly through the hoops on their own, no big deal. But we still wouldn't get to go through the hoops."

How big exactly were those tiny hoops supposed to be? Because like... his dragon was tiny. Toby was... okay, yeah, sorta tiny for his AGE, but not tiny-dragon-tiny. He squinted up and tried to gauge just how big they were.

A few of the answers that the others were saying made sense, but she was thinking outside of the box, she was. "Is it because professor no fu--" What? The nick name that she had for Bellaire was coming out of her mouth. She was only supposed to be thinking it. Thank goodness 'fun' didn't come out of her mouth. This way Quigley couldn't be sure what she was going to say and she was totally safe. AJ hurriedly put on a show with a coughing fit to cover her tracks.

Cough, cough, splutter... WHEEZE.

Ahem. Nothing to see here. Besides that was only ONE of the many nicknames she had for a certain professor. Unicorn hater was another one, but there wasn't enough hours in the day to go through them all, and they had way more fun things to discuss anyways.

What was the question again? Oh yeah. The hoops. "The only problem I see is that we aren't flying our dragons through them right now." Wasn't she just the perfect little student?

So Dante was here with Doom. Doom was pretty cool about the whole walk over here. No banging on the cage and shooting fire. Well Dante did not even know if Doom could do that. So better not put his face up against Doom's cage just to be sure.

"One, i do not think i am big enough to fit in those hoops and Two would you actually levitate me up there to go through the hoop if i was small enough, Professor Q....uigley?"

He would only really trust Professor Q to do it. Since he was a Professor and all. And it sounded like fun. Well as long as he did not get hurt that is.

Still it was something worth doing if Professor Q would let him.

Dima was thinking about this question long and hard, he was. After a few moments, he raised his hand to answer. "The hoops are too tiny. They can fit the dragons, but not us. So we'd have to shrink ourselves down. Would that cause some kind of bodily issue? Shrinking organs and stuff? If it does, we'd have to make the hoops bigger."

Someone would have to levitate them too, like Dante said.

The dragons were still TINY dragons, after all.

...

.....

Right...Gryffindor Syndrome was taking over. So excited he could hardly make words happen. Perfectly understandable. He spent seven years in the Gryffindor Common Room and had been a victim a few times himself so naturally he understood exactly what the young Gryffindor was saying. Obviously. "Very true. The hoops are ridiculously small. Only the dragon would have a chance and that's no fun for the rest of us."

Oh. Huh. "I suppose..." He mused, rubbing at the little stubble by his chin. "Though I was thinking more along the lines of the problem we would have trying to get through those hoops with the dragons."

It was a fair point though. The dragons could scorch the hoops but only if told to do so and if that was the case the student wouldn't be so happy.

Fitting a finger through one of the slots in the cage she stroked his head whispering to him, "Easy Klaus, I'm sure you can come out soon..."

Lifting her head to the hoops she shrugged her shoulders. They looked just fine to her so what was wrong with them?

It wasn't the answer to the question he'd asked, in fact it wasn't an answer at all. Maddox had caught the voice of the Slytherin who'd been muttering to her dragon. "Do try to stay focused, Miss Lynch. We're talking about the hoops now and it's something you'll need to know."

Did he have to take her dragon to get her to pay attention?

No. Just no.

Still not a peep out of this one. Huh. Maybe she was having an off day...off week....off life. Who really knew with students that got to that age? Maddox would simply content himself with the fact that she looked like she was paying attention, unlike the young Slytherin he'd just had to lightly reprimand. He couldn't be bothered with the repetitive plea to have them paying attention. No thanks.

!!!!!!!!!! "W-What?

"Of course you can use magic." More like--how do YOU plan to without magic? They were not muggles, they did not need to suffer the inconvenience of...well...muggling around.

Forgive him for overestimating this one, however. Apparently it was too much to hope the boy knew something as simple as Ascendio...

Maddox jumped back, not willing to be pulled into the sky with the young Gryffindor and for the briefest moment he held his breath and prayed to Merlin that he wouldn't get fired for this but then miracle of all miracle--the boy LIVED! Nevermind he was currently suspended on a floating hoop, he was still LIVING and this no longer counted as an act of negligence so of course Maddox laughed. Lots of snickers and stifled laughs and at last just outright amused laughing as he lowered the hoop that supported the boy. "Splendid work, Mister Earnest." He said watching the hoop approach the ground. "You can collect those ten galleons when you've got some time." Because that, right there was classic entertainment and a reward was in order. A bet was a bet.

That...that was also really true. "This...yes. Flying is an issue, though I wouldn't discredit your dragon. He's well aware of how to use those wings of his, you just have to let him out--but not yet." No, that could happen a little later on but not right now. Were they clear on that?

Good.

It seemed that most of the younger ones were racing out there. Dante was intrigued especially when he saw the hoops.

He carefully set the cage on the ground, dropped his bag and waited for the professor's instructions.

And another one that seemed more distracted than all here. "Attention this way, Mister Malloy." It wouldn't hurt to answer the question being asked; just saying.

And there was Mister Malloy's distraction. Lovely the two could be off in a little conversation but he would prefer they answered the question he asked instead. Er..."Not exactly, Miss Grevyson." Maybe not at all actually. They could shrink themselves but then how long would it take to fly up there with them so tiny? All day maybe and they didn't have all that much time left in the lesson.

Raising her hand, she answered the question. "I think they are too small for us to both fly through." They wouldn't really have to go up there, would they? Because if so she was going to have to tell Professor Quigley that she was too scared of heights.

"Precisely, the hoops are too small for us to get through them even if we were up there with the dragons." How big were they again? He couldn't actually remember. They'd been set up there before he went to the classroom at the start of this hour. Something to think on. Hmm.

Blink blink.

"I think you misunderstoo, Miss Valentine. What I meant was each person going through the hoops with their dragons...not with each other." The hoops were DEFINITELY too small to accommodate everyone. It simply wouldn't be a good idea.

He pointed to the hoops from what he could see through the bright sunlight. He needed his sunglasses or something. Quigly wanted to know what problems could they have with the hoops? He wondered about this..

"Professor could the hoops shrink on their own?"

Maddox wasn't certain, but he might not have been understanding where this Hufflepuff was going with his question. "The hoops wouldn't shrink unless we made them shrink, but that would hardly help with the current problem we're having of not being able to fit through the hoops with our dragons if we wanted to." They didn't need anything getting any smaller at this point. Not at all.

Well someone was being a bit of a Debbie Downer.

"....Yes." Yes to both responses. The hoops were too small to fit through and something about flying being restricted at the school. Honestly, that hadn't been the most pressing issue for the Charms Professor. "Let's put it this way." He paused to be sure they were on the side of the castle that got overlooked by the Headmistress's Office window before looking to the Hufflepuff again. "I won't tell, if you won't tell."

What was the question again? Oh yeah. The hoops. "The only problem I see is that we aren't flying our dragons through them right now." Wasn't she just the perfect little student?

Hah. Snort. It took all the Professionalism the man held which admittedly wasn't that much to refrain from outrightly laughing at Aubrey's mix up. No amused looks over here. Nope. None. He would even try for a straight face for as long as it lasted.

Maddox grinned at her response. "A very serious problem indeed but only patience can fix that part." Just a little longer. Had to make sure they were capable enough and all that other responsibility stuff.

This one might have missed the point completely. Maddox stared, not sure what to say at first. "Um...the problem isn't that you aren't big enough, Mister Formy, but rather that at the moment you're too big to fit through such small hoops." A little backward this one was but he would chalk that up to the excitement the kid must have been feeling. Half the class looked hype on sugar anyway.

"And as much as I would love to levitate you," except not really, "I have something else in mind." He would see in a moment.

SPOILER!!: Dima

Someone would have to levitate them too, like Dante said.

The dragons were still TINY dragons, after all.

"Rest assured, Mister Toussaint, we won't be shrinking ourselves and even if we were that charm maintains proportions so we wouldn't have any problem with organs." Funny how THAT was what concerned him most. "But yes, the hoops are too small."

Maddox glanced up at his dragon again, figuring he'd gotten enough exercise by now. If not, it was a pity but he needed him for the demonstration now. The Charms Professor whistled a calling and held his hand out for the dragon to land.

"So you all have the basic idea right here. The hoops are too small and too high. There's no way to get to them and even less a way to get through them with your dragon as is. This brings a few questions. How do we fix this? How do we get up there? What do we too about the hoops. Everything can easily be fixed with one spell."

He waved his wand about in the air causing it to create glowing red lines that finally spelled out:

ENGORGIO

"Can you all see this?" He took a step back so he wouldn't be blocking anyone. "Engorgio. This spell makes any object bigger and it's perfect for our current situation. Make the dragons bigger--you can fly them to the hoops. Make the hoops bigger--you can both fly through them." Easy as cake. "Mister Tempus brought up the point that flying isn't allowed anymore. Can I see the hands of the individuals that intend to report this to the Headmistress after we get through here? If so you may be excused. Head to the kitchens or back to your Common Rooms for a nap; whatever makes you happy. You have my expressed permission."

He'd even pause to give them a chance to leave. "As for the rest of you, the wand movement is an incomplete circle in a clockwise motion. Remove your dragons and cast on them. Remember the intent and do remember that enlargening beyond a certain point will cause the object to explode so I'll need you all to really focus. Try for nothing bigger than 8 ft from tip to tail." Did he need to repeat that for anyone? "Go ahead."

So I was meant to post this hours ago, whoops but this is pretty straight forward. Have your charries make their dragons big enough for them to mount and fly--within the limits stipulated by the Professor. It'll take 1-2 posts depending on how good your charrie is, their skill level, etc (I trust you guys with this realism thing). We'll move on to the final activity tomorrow evening.

This was so cool. Professor liked bets... he was sure to remember this for next time - because there WOULD be a next time. Yep. He flashed Ezra a grin. Totally had his back in all this, totally... though that didn't mean he was going to try to catch the guy, that would be plain silly. He'd just watch. Hehehehe.

It surprised him that Ezra bothered trying to jump, being a muggle sucked in times like this, you needed fancy pants levitation spells and stuff to get you what you wanted. He was fascinated though that Quigley was letting him do all this. Awesome. Just, AWESOME. "C'mom Ez!" he cheered his bud.

The spell he used was weird, so weird, and he'd never heard of it. Was that a third year thing??? But it was kinda cool at the same time. Zeke watched as the older Gryffindor rose into the air and snagged the hoop.

Cool beans. SOOOO cool.

"Nice one," he offered him with a pat on the back, and expectant looks at the Prof. HE WAS GETTING THE GALLEONS!!! HAHAHAHAHAH ... this was just too cool, he pat Ezra on the back again.

....

But back to lesson stuff. Dragons. Hoops. Flying.

And pfftt... no, NO he was not going to tell Headmistress lady about the flying. Why on earth would he? Hhhmm? He did have a question though, he ALWAYS had questions. Hand up, he interrupted. Whoops "Professor, we've flown on hippogriffs in Care of Magical Creatures last year, so how is flying on a dragon any different? I thought it was just brooms we weren't allowed?" Or so he'd thought all this time. Whoops?

But this whole Engorgio thing, he had it down pat. He'd already learned that one last year since he wanted to use it for one of his geocide attempts.

"That does NOT seem safe," Dot set down her cage and used it as a stool. They were going to make their itty bitty dragons big enough to be people eater dragons? And plus the little ones were much cuter. And Dot's dragon was lazy and might roll over and sleep on her until she died or something.

So she protested. "Also, if I exploded my dragon, then I wouldn't have one anymore, and I'm attached to this one because I already named it. So I think I'll just ride on someone else's." Any volunteers?

And then there were people moving. And her cage was rattling.

Blinking, Amur slowly looked down at her dragon. It had climbed up the bars and was trying to claw at her, as if saying 'wake up silly. I want to fly.'

Good. Because she wanted to fly too! And she would not, ever, ever, ever utter a word to any Professor about this. This, was pure Charms-Transfiguration-Class-Secret.

Starting, Amur put her cage down and squatted in front of it. She pulled out her wand and looked between the two. She really didn't want to explode her dragon. The Professor had said intention was key. She looked at her wand again. She was really excited to fly. Not exploding said dragon would be very good, both in being able to fly and well not killing her creation.

Which brought up the question....Did rocks have guts?

So she protested. "Also, if I exploded my dragon, then I wouldn't have one anymore, and I'm attached to this one because I already named it. So I think I'll just ride on someone else's." Any volunteers?
Amur's head came up as another girl voiced her concern about exploding dragons. Wasn't safe?

Her eyes went to the Professor. She didn't think it was supposed to be safe. And well, safe wasn't the point. The experience was.

"I took my dad's girlfriend's car for a joy-ride in the field behind our barn. It was a convertible too." Reaching into her cage, she held her hand out for her dragon, who eagerly hoped aboard. "It wasn't safe, but it was something I'll never forget."

She gave the older girl a grin. "But if you don't want to try with your dragon, you can ride with me." Just saying, if she truly didn't want to try.

King Phillip knew how to fly she didn't even TEACH him? What was the point of making something if they were already smarter than you? Oh, right. 'Cause it was ADORABLE. Norah hugged the cage a little tighter as Professor Quigley explained the activity. On one hand, FLYING COOL, but on the other hand what if she exploded King Phillip? The Dragon kingdom peoples would probably behead her or something and she liked her head, even if it did have all that annoying hair on it.

The third year got to her knees and set the cage on the ground, opening the door with a little click and adjusting her dragon's crown as she coaxed it out of the cage. "Hi there, I'd curtsy if I was standing but you're gonna be a BIG dragon now." No talk about exploding, 'cause they didn't need to think about that NOPE. Norah scooted back until she had space to point her wand at little KING Phillip. Engorgio engorgio engorgio. That wasn't too hard, right? Only four syllables and there wasn't even one of those things where there were a bazillion consonants in a row. "Engorgio!" She did a circle-y thing almost all the way around. Nothing happened. At least it hadn't exploded though, right? "Engorgio!" Some more circle-y thing. She imagined it getting all big and NOT exploding but STILL he stayed small. D'awww look at him all curled up in a ball. NO, spell. She was gonna do this. "Engorgio!" Noooothing. Was her wand broken or something? She poked it with her index finger and it just sat there like a plain old stick of wood. Lame.

Wait a second. Which direction was clockwise again? The third year thought for a moment before coming to the conclusion that she HAD been doing circle-y thing in the right direction. So why wasn't it getting all big, hmmm?

Benny turned to Adi as the Hufflepuff came up beside him. "Uh huh," he agreed, quite prowd of his little dragon buddy. Getting a look at his friend's own dragon, he reconized the markings that identified the creature's made-up breed. "Oooo Opaleye." Nice choice of dragon as well. It really has been a tough decision on what breed to pick but his Welsh Green was plenty great.

When Professor Quigley called for their attention again, the Gryffindor obligued, following the man's ge back to the hoops in the air. He was clueless, well other then the ideas that came to the mind of the others. Although his thought process was completely shut down when the professor revealed just what they were doing next. The floating red words quite visable and Benny was aware of what the spell did before it was explained.

They were going to make their dragons...BIGGER?!

And then they were going to FLY them!!!

AWESOME!!!

Okay so he was going to have to calm down again to focus. Benny certainly didn't want to explode his poor stone dragon or do something to harm the creature. Even it wasn't entirely a real dragon creature. Engorgio was the incantation and once he slipped his wand out once more, he began practing the broken clockwise circles in the air.

He wasn't going to tell the headmistress nothing.

LALALALALALALA... this was going to be awesome. SO awesome.

Larch wand in hand, Zeke - smirking satisfactorily - placed his caged dragon on the ground and proceeded to open the latch. "Wanna spread your wings, boy?" he asked, ASSUMING that it was a boy dragon, of course. Duuuhhh. He stroked the top of its head a few times as he held the mini beast in his hands. It was cute like this, but it was about to become INSANELY awesome. He wondered if they did this kind of stuff at Beauxbaton's or whatever it was called. He would have to find out...

"Now just sit here a second while I make you bigger, 'kay?" he informed his dragon, despite being confident that it didn't understand a word of English. He didn't do dragon speak - YET.

Visualising the size that he wanted his dragon to take, Zeke cracked his neck to the side - because he meant business - and cast the charm.

"Engorgio," he annunciated as he formed an incomplete clockwise circle movement with his wand. Much like the hundred times he'd tried it last term, the charm worked, and it worked quickly.

Zeke took a small step back as his dragon grew and swelled to the appropriate size. Not so big that it would POP! and not so small that he couldn't sit comfortably.

... "Wicked."

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

Cilla placed her bag and cage cage on the ground next to her feet. Cilla then got out her wand to start practising the spell. She moved her wand in a clockwise motion, drawing an incomplete circle. This was repeated three times more until Cilla felt confident. Cilla then put her wand back in her pocket and practised the incantation.

"Engorgio," Cilla repeated in her mind three times.

She got down on one knee to unlock the cage that Ava was in. Cilla held out her hand to Ava and the tiny dragon hopped onto her palm. Cilla gently placed Ava on the ground in front of her feet. Wand at the ready, Cilla made the proper wand movement and imagined Ava the size the Quigley had recommended.

"Engorgio," Cilla said.

The dragon was only about 4ft in length so Cilla tried again and now Ava was 7ft. Cilla felt that this was a good enough length. Cilla was feeling nervous about flying though because she hadn't flown before. This was not like flying in an aeroplane. The nerves were beginning to show.

The only reason Brooklyn would have had any inclination of telling the headmistress, or anyone else who wasn’t at the lesson, about them flying would have been if it had any incentive toward her. As in, if she’d get something from it. She couldn’t think of anything right now, so therefore, she wasn’t apt to tattle. Besides, she remembered riding the hippogriffs last term. Riding Balerion would just be that much better, and as for Dot’s worry about if it was safe or not… dragons were supposed to be dangerous. They weren’t housecats after all. She wasn’t afraid, and since she’d figured her dragon had wanted out of his cage, she opened the door and reached a hand in to let him crawl on.

Once he was out, she set him on the ground while she took her wand out again. Practice first. She didn’t want to explode her dragon after all, or make any other sort of mistakes. “Engorgio,” she whispered, slowly getting louder as she repeated the incantation. Just to normal levels, though. She didn’t need to yell, and she was still watching her tiny dragon prowling around again. Once she’d figured she had that down, she started twirling her wand around. Clockwise circle, but not finishing it. That was almost as easy as pointing. It was like making a ‘C’ shape, sort of. Maybe a little more of the circle. Were they supposed to just focus on how big they wanted their dragons, or was there more to the spell than that?
