As you walk into the charms classroom, you will see the room as it normally is. Straight rows of desks and chairs, all facing the front of the room where there is the chalkboard and the professor’s desk to the left of it. Your Charms professor, Professor Fuller, is leaning against his desk with his arms crossed over his chest, waiting for you to enter and take a seat.
Do be seated quickly, class is about to start! Class has now begun!

Angel had no idea that Benny had taken a photo of her and then suddenly Ben was getting a photo with Adi but he had never replied to her she was a bit sad now and so she decided to go back over to her own table and got her own camara out, she then took a photo of her sister whilst she was standing there because well she wanted one of her sister, she thought about getting one of her with her sister but she probably was a bit busy and it seemed like AJ didn't want one of them together.
"Alacer!" Angel smiled as she practiced the spell. "AL...A...CER!" Angel thought this spell was going to be awesome.
"Alacer!" Angel did the wand movement and pointed the wand at the photo. Angel sighed as she realised the spell hadn't worked.
"Alacer!!" Tap!! Angel smiled as she watched as the spell work though it hadn't worked properly now she had to figure out what to do for her other photos.
There seemed to be no special wand movement for this charm. Nonetheless, Sapphire imitated the professor, tapping the middle of her notebook with her wand as if it were a photograph.
"Alacer," she continued practicing as she tapped her notebook with her wand. If she got a good feel of it, she might get her picture moving even at the first try.

Having repeated the incantation several times quietly to herself the small Snake felt she had it down. Now to make it work on her photo. Holding her wand firmly she tapped the center of the photo with it.
"Alacer." Hady spoke clearly as she attempted the incantation. Nothing. Taking a deep breath she tried again.
"Alacer!" Peering down at the photo she saw nothing had happened. It still hadn't worked. Third times a charm right? Sitting up straighter in her chair and clearing her throat she prepared to try another time.
Tap went her want on the photo. "Alacer!" Hady called out firmly this time. A grin spreading across her face as she watched the photo she'd taken begin to move right before her eyes. Jaxon was going to love this!

After a moment, Brooklyn stole a peek at the picture she’d just cast the charm on. It didn’t look like anything bad had happened to it, and if she looked really close she thought she could see a little bit of movement. The two girls were talking anyway, except there wasn’t any sound. There should have been sound, just because that would’ve been cool. Like making a mini movie in a photograph. Either that or if the picture Claws would turn and talk to her, like she’d been told the paintings here at Hogwarts would do. She hadn’t actually tried to see if that was true yet. Not all the stories she’d heard about Hogwarts seemed to be true, in her opinion, but she kind of hoped the paintings one was. It gave her more options for people to decide if they were worth her attention. Also more options for people she could be annoyed by, but still. It would be interesting. The little images of the two girls in her picture, though, weren’t doing anything other than what they’d done in real life when she’d taken the picture.
It was kind of boring, but she still had her selfie to animate. Plus any other photos she decide to take later on. At least she was awesome, so her selfie should be awesome. Tapping it with her wand, she cast the spell again. “Alacer.” If anything, she didn’t know what she’d really been doing when she’d taken it. She wasn’t about to go ask to see the Claw prefect’s picture of her to find out, so she’d have to count of the spell working for her again. She knew it would. She refused to fail now, not when she’d already done it right once on the less important picture. That meant she couldn’t mess it up this time. It wasn’t allowed. Yet a rare grin crept onto her face as she watched the image come to life. Well, as much as it could given the limits of the charm. She still wanted to know how the paintings worked.

"You look smart here." And in general but definitely here. "We still haven't dueled, y'know." JUST putting that out there. It'd happen soon, yeah?
Also, she had one more picture to take. Maddie brushed the hair out of her face and sat up straight. She then held the camera in front of her, preparing to take a selfie. A dignified one, mind you. None of that duck-face nonsense.
*CLICK*
The picture emerged from within and the thirteen year old set it down on the desk, satisfied with the result. She'd know for sure if it was a keeper when it was moving, though.
*TAP* "Alacer."
And there she was, eyes bright and her lips curving slowly into a smile.
Jasmine laughed when Maddie suggested that she might have photography potential. "Maybe I could, you never know. My mom's a professional photographer. Maybe it's in the genes." Maybe it was, but Jasmine knew that she was nowhere as good at taking pictures as her mother was. It was just something she liked to do for fun.
She looked smart? "Well thank you for capturing the me I want to be. Sometimes Jasmine felt smart, sometimes she didn't. She always did her best and she loved to learn, if that made her look smart.....cool.
Ah duels. "No we haven't dueled yet. I'd love to duel with you. I need all the practice I can get. We'll have to make a date soon." They would definitely have to make that happen.

While she’d been taking her selfie, Brooklyn had tuned out the rest of the classroom. Of course she’d wanted a good picture, and distractions wouldn’t work. She wanted to be completely focused, until she’d suddenly heard someone saying sorry. Looking around, she saw the Ravenclaw prefect lowering her camera and realized that she must’ve missed another picture being taken of her. “‘Sokay. As long as it’s a good picture,” she’d called out. Even as the girl had walked off to go take a picture of another girl. Hmph. There went her attention, and she almost pouted. That wasn’t fair.
Nobody walked away from a princess. People were supposed to want to take pictures of her. People were supposed to want things from her, so she could decide if she wanted to say no. Instead, they were taking pictures and then walking away, and that wasn’t fair. It wasn’t nice, and she was tempted to go over and ask for the picture. Instead, she lifted the camera in her hand again and pressed down the button, taking a photo of the two Claws talking. And practicing the charm, which she was going to need to do eventually. The question was which picture she wanted to test it out on first. She wasn’t going to accidentally ruin her selfie after all, but that one deserved to be moving. Unless she just took more later since she’d get to keep the camera. That was always possible too, along with the pictures of her cat. And maybe her dormmates, since she figured at least Maggie wouldn’t be against having her picture taken. They could get pictures of each other even, except she wasn’t going to let anyone borrow her camera. It was hers, and nobody else deserved to use it.
As Jasmine was talking with Maddie, she noticed something or someone out of the corner of her eye. Turning around, she saw the little red haired girl taking a picture of them. Jasmine was so getting paid back for all of the secret photos she had taken. Turning to Maddie, she said, "Excuse me". "I need to go speak with someone for a moment."
Walking over to the girl, Jasmine extended her hand and said, "Hi, I'm Jasmine.". "Thanks for being my model before. I got a great picture of you. Want to see it?" Jasmine pulled out the now animated picture and showed it to her. "What do you think?" Hopefully she liked it because Jasmine thought she looked beautiful.

"Where should I take my first photo..." Sapphire wondered quietly to herself. She spotted the professor and decided to take his picture as he stood in front of the large windows of the Charms classroom.
Sapphire didn't waste a moment, not wanting to let her nervousness get to her. As soon as the photograph was clear and developed, she put it on her table and said "Alacer," while tapping the middle of the picture with her hand.

One down and one to go. Now what should her next picture be of? Looking around the room Hady tried to find something that would make a good photo. Not seeing anything from her seat she got up and began to walk around the room with the camera in her hands.
When she reached the windows she stopped and looked outside. There in a tree she spotted a bird on a branch. That would do just fine. Lifting the camera she snapped the button just as the bird began to take flight!
Hady caught the photo as it came out of the slot on the camera and returned with it to her desk. Setting the camera down along side the photo on the desk she pulled out her wand. Without wasting any time she firmly tapped the center of the photo with her wand. "Alacer!" She recited clearly. This time it worked on the first try and there in the photo was the tree it's leaves moving slightly in a soft breeze and a small bird taking flight off one of the branches. It was prefect.
Since she had her two photos she sat back down on her chair and studied them both while waiting for the Professor to continue the lesson.

Now for the spell: Alacer. Should be easy, yeah? He knows what he wants to happen with his picture so intent wasn't going to be a problem. Ethan got his wand as he muttered the spell under his breath. "Alacer...alacer...alacer."
It must be because he's excited that he didn't waste any more time to practice the incantation more. "Alacer!"
...
The piece of photo paper shook...and nothing happened. Well something changed though, because half of Grayson's face is now animated, while the others remained frozen.
Ehh. Woops.

It seemed Adi really did want a photo with him, the Hufflepuff moving to stand beside him and pose while AJ took it. Benny himself worked to keep his camera and two photos out of the shot as he stood casually beside his friend. Inwardly hoping he still wasn't all red from Angel's previous exclaimation. "Unicorns..." he said smiling softly amused before he caught himself.
Another click let them know his and Adi's picture was done, the image looking good according to AJ. However when he looked around for Angel to do their picture, he noticed she was gone. She had walked off back to her seat. "Excuse me..." he said, taking his leave of the other couple, he followed after Angel, noticing her practicing the charm and getting an idea.
"Its Ah-lay sur," he said as he came up beside her as if helping her out, knealing down a little. His camera was out and faced towards both of them as he stretched his arm out in front of him. Ben had never done a self portrait before so he hoped this worked. "Say lion..." he whispered before taking the shot.

Were all of the needed photos taken? Was everybody satisfied? The only other person that AJ didn't get a picture with was Angel, but now that they knew this spell they could do this anytime. It wasn't as if they needed to do this right now.
The lion really needed to work on charming another photo. This time she turned the camera around to face her. Selfie time. For the first time during this lesson, AJ smiled naturally. Click. Done and done. The photo popped out, and she looked it over. Yup, it looked like her.
Hopefully this time around she wouldn't have as much trouble with the charm. "Alacer!" Jab, and nothing. No worries. "Alacer." Jab, and still nothing. "ALACER." Super hard jab happened. Results!!! Finally. You just had to let the photo know who was boss. That was all.

Though one of the students mentioned something about videos and a website and he was so lost in her confusing sentence, that she didn’t really get much acknowledgement from him other than a half-nod. This wasn’t Muggle Studies.
”Right, good job. Most of you suggested the development potion and different charms that could potentially work. Since this is charms class, we’re going to be learning one of the charms today.” Fuller walked over to the cart of cameras. ”What we have here are specially designed cameras for the charm we are going to learn. You simply look through the window and press the capture button on the top,” he demonstrated by holding the camera up to his face, looking through the lense at the class and pressing the button down, ”Just like taking any ordinary picture.” And when he let go of the button, the picture slid right out of the bottom of the camera. Fuller grabbed the photo paper and a few seconds later, he showed the class the photo he took of them. But it wasn’t moving.
”Now you’ll notice that the picture isn’t moving yet. That’s where this new charm comes into place.” Fuller set the photo down on his desk and took out his wand. He tapped the photo right in the middle and said, ”Alacer,”. In an instant, the photograph began to move, showing the few seconds during the press of his button. Then he used his wand to make it hover in front of the classroom. ”And voila, a moving picture.”
He then waved his wand at the board to reveal the charm written down
ALACER AH-LAY-SUR
”I want everyone to come up and grab a camera for yourself, there’s plenty to go around. And if you don’t break it by the time you’ve finished, you can keep it.” See? He could be nice. ”Once you have a camera, feel free to pick a partner if you wish, unless you’d like to work by yourself. Take pictures and see if you can get them to move once they’re printed by using the charm.” It was a fairly easy spell, so, it wouldn’t be too hard. ”For full credit, please charm two photos.”
Finally to the practical portion! Sorry it’s been taking so long! For full points, I’ll ask that you make at least FOUR posts, with at least TWO of them containing your character practicing the charm. The other two can be actually taking the picture. This is a pretty activity for you guys, both IC and OOC! Most importantly, have fun!
Gabriel was just not himself this lesson....nor had he really been during any of the lessons thus far...but he was ESPECIALLY non!Gabriel AND annoyed this one.
Why hadn't CB sat with him? He'd nodded his head and everything. Of course, he'd been slightly relieved when she'd walked away...but it still bothered him. And when Dot had taken a seat, well...He liked Dot. Dot was okay...but he hadn't paid her the least bit of attention.
He hadn't even continued taking notes. THAT'S how unGabelike he currently was.
Hmph. Whatever.
They were starting an activity and Gabe immediately looked around for Ruby; mostly to make sure she was okay...AND to see if she needed his help. He shuffled forward to grab two cameras. Everyone was busy with their own stuff. They weren't even looking his way...So, he felt some of the pressure fading. The annoyance, however, remained.

Yeah. She needed help. She HAD been paying attention but also hadn't taken notes for her own reasons. Ruby waved her brother over and then whispered something in his ear about the professor... and Aina.
... well it was true and also it might shock him out of his obvious funk right?
"You can take pictures of me, Gabey. And I'll take pictures of me too." Well Gabe wasn't exactly mr smiles in front of a camera was he? Ruby however, she could ham it up with the best of them.
She took one of the cameras and then snapped a few selfies, appropriate poses and movements that the resulting pictures would hopefully show. Kissy faces mostly.

He had no idea what to take a picture of next. It was HARD choosing a subject matter when they were just in class. There were people, yes, but nobody that he really wanted to have a picture of. But... perhaps he ought to take a selfie too? Like what some of the others were doing.
He could definitely send one of THOSE home. It'd be like giving Emily HARD EVIDENCE of him DOING things in CLASS. Not only was it a picture of him in class, but it'd be proof that he'd learned something toooo.
So with that in mind, Zeke peered around to see how he could BEST capture the moment. Considering he was a little shorter than most, he decided standing on a chair was vital. AND on top of that, he had to face the back of the room, so that the front with the board, maybe the professor and some of the other students would be in the shot. Then lastly, he just needed to take it. His arm had to be far enough away from him that things would fit in his picture, but then he also needed it to be facing him at the right angle and not chopping his head off (a sign of a terrible photographer).
Once he was certain the frame was right, he took the shot. CLICCCCKKKKK, and the photograph paper slipped out the bottom ready for him to take.
Cinna was animating the first photo, and it looked amazing. They were so silly and Lux giggled as she watched them making their silly faces. They were so cool. "My turn to animate!" Tapping the model picture in the middle she said, Alacer." Hehe. Now they were moving in that picture too. "We look even hotter now!"
She was loving this and was ready to take another picture. Looking around the room, she smiled when she spotted Bay. He was the one she had been wanting to take her second picture of. It wasn't creepy when he was her boyfriend. Giggling, she pushed the button and grabbed the photo as it came out of the camera.
Cinna watched as Lux animated the photo. Good job friend! Lux had successfully animated her photo. She giggled. Yes the animated picture made them look hotter. Hehe. What was that duplication spell again and can she use it on this photo?
Now what else was she going to take a picture of? She scanned the room. Mmmmmm what was snap shot worthy around here. She stopped and watched as Lux took a picture of her boyfriend, Bay. Awww how sweet. Now what was going to take a picture of? "Hey, Lux. I want to get one of you and Bay together, okay?" Aww that would be cute. So stinking cute. Ugh. She wanted a pretty boy to take a picture with.

Once he had the film thing in his hand, he hopped off his chair and wiped the goofy grin off his face. How was the shot?! Had it worked?! Was it goood?!
The image, once revealed, was decent. He couldn't fit as much as he wanted into the frame, because it was small, but it still worked. It was OBVIOUS he was in class, and LOOK it was HIM, in his smart Gryffindor robes and learning things! It was still kinda perfect, and it was a good thing he didn't bruise from the stupid bouncing bulbs too, his nose looked fine.
Sitting down, Zeke repeated the process he had completed only moments before with his first picture.
Wand out, he tapped the centre of the picture and recited the incantation - though this time he was sure that his intention was strong and that he was saying it correctly.
"Alacer."
As with pretty much EVERY other spell or charm he had learned since being here, after the first couple of goes... it became SO MUCH EASIER. He had a good wand, that much he was certain of.
The selfie he took had become animated. He saw himself reflected, his grinning face blinking on occasion and peering over his shoulder at the work that was being done in the back ground. This was so neat!!!!! SO NEAT!!!!
Ian smiled as she jumped while he held the button down, looking through the viewfinder part. He was excited to see how this would turn out. He'd never had the chance to take pictures of his classmates. His mobile phone wouldn't work here, except in the technology center and so he couldn't take pictures using his phone. When the photo was done taking and being spit out of the camera, he set it on the desk, waiting for the image to present itself. He saw her, looking cute as her hair framed her face and curls bounced up. He took out his wand and performed the wand motion as he said Alacer! He watched and clapped his hand excitedly as the picture began to take shape. She was very clearly jumping and saying the name of their house founder. He looked at her excitedly and grinned like he'd caught a prize winning fish. It worked! He picked up the picture and showed it to her. It was then he noticed a second picture of himself. This one was less goofy looking as he was serious about developing her picture. That one is rather nice. You are doing very well at this moving portrait thing.
Norah craned over Ian's head to see how her jumping picture turned out. "Hey! It did work! Nice going." She grinned at him and slapped him a high five. She was pleased with his excitement now, and he was looking a lot less uncomfortable than he had before. Yeeeah! So any accomplishments.
Looking towards her second picture, the second year picked up her wand again to tap it, saying "Alacer" in a clear voice. She eyed it apprehensively, but her face split into another wide grin when she saw it begin to move. Hey! She'd done it again. Her face shining, she turned back to Ian trying not to sound too pleased at his compliment. "Thanks! This is really fun. Thanks for being my partner, too." It would've been far more boring if she had been working by herself, as most things tended to be. "It is a nice picture. Here, you should keep it." Norah held the photo on the edges and held it out in his direction. Everyone deserved to have a nice picture of themselves, especially the ones with the low self esteem. She knew that for a fact, uh huh. She conscious of her little brothers' feelings whether people thought she was or not, and making them feel better was always a priority. She gave Ian a small smile, hoping he was feeling a little better himself.

"Ah-LAY-sur.." Repeating it once again as she tried to get it comfortable in her lips & from the looks of it, she was feeling rather comfortable saying it. Now perhaps she should try to figure out how to work this camera? She certainly hadn't the slightest idea how they actually worked, although she'd seen them & read about them multiple times, but she'd never actually had the opportunity to work one herself.
Perhaps she should ask the Professor how to work the camera?
...
Josie jumped at the sound of someone speaking to her & her blue eyes scanned around briefly before she saw that girl who was sitting by the Bewildered Boris statue was the one who had been extending the invite to partner up towards Josie? She looked at her camera nervously & then back at the girl. She paused momentarily before nodding quickly to the older girl. Josie collected her camera she made her over to the older girl's table area. "H-Hi..."
....
"D-Do you have any i-idea how to..work a c-camera?"
Eden smiled at the girl. "Yeah--I do--" she said, and she picked up her own camera and stood next to Josie to show her. "See this button? You press it, and it takes the picture. Watch--" and she moved in front of Josie, held up the camera, and looked through the lens. She could see Josie's nervous face. "You look through here, to see what you're taking a picture of--now smile, so I can take the picture--" and she pressed the button, snapping the picture.
There.
She smirked and waited for it to spit out the other end. Setting the camera down, she grabbed her wand. "Alacer....AL-UH-SUR--" she said softly. "Yeah--you're saying it right." She told Josie. "Think you know how to use the camera?" she asked softly. She pulled out the photo and waved it a little to dry it. "I'm only doing this so that it'll dry--" she said, and she then let Josie see. "Is this picture good or do you want to take another one?" she asked with her eyebrows raised. She knew she'd have her picture taken too--ugh.
She HATED taking pictures. Her smile was so...big. She hated it.

Ruby and her gossip. Gabe gave her a particular LOOK...and then focused on the task at hand. He didn't give a fig about people's relationships. Relationships were lame AND stupid, anyway....and girls were certifiably insane. Good on the professor, in Gabe's opinion.
HMPH. It was the frustration peeking through. Yes. That.
Anyway, he'd managed to take a few of his sister with various Ruby!face on...and was now inspecting the 'not yet' developed photos. They were slowly coming into focus...and he SIGHED...and then looked at CB again...

He would never understand girls. Ever.
Okay her brother was DEFINITELY giving that girl the eye. Ruby raised her own camera and then SNAPPED a picture of her... she'd give it to Gabriel later. Mhmm.
But in the meantime, her own pictures were developed now. Ruby had a polaroid camera at home actually, so she wasn't all that fascinated by the whole process, that part she was familiar with.
But now she was supposed to animate it? She peeked over at Gabriel and decided to let him go first and she could watch. That would be easier.

Snapping the photo quickly and hurrying back to his desk Cyprien made sure that he had gotten the picture correctly and started the spell. Hmmm...Cyprien decided he wanted to try and get it in one go. He would practice the spell later but just to try and get it correct on the first try would be awesome.

Gabriel hadn't seen Ruby take the picture...and after glancing CB's way a few more times, he went back to his work; laying the photos out on her desk. Like Ruby's, they were fully developed now...and ready for the charm.
Gabe side-glanced his sister. "Try to pronounce it, okay? Let's practice it together. Alacer. Ah-lay-sur..." His voice was low when speaking to her, not wanting anyone to see that she struggled with this.
If anyone tried to embarrass or make Ruby feel dumb, Gabe would retailate on them.
"Alacer. Ah-lay-sur..."

It was far easier to copy what he said rather than try and work it out by looking at the board. Ruby repeated obligingly.
"Ah lay sur. Alacer." A lacer? Okay. She could remember that. And... they just touched their wand to the picture right? She looked down at the pair of them in front of her. This would be SUPER useful for checking out an outfit from all angles.
With this inspiration in mind, she was ready to give it a go and she nodded at her brother.
