Being a dude, he sometimes let his room get waaaay too messy when CDs, comic books and other things were strewn around. He would not object to learning those types of spells. It would save him precious time where he could be doing other stuff. Fuller nodded at this one too. ”Very helpful, good.” Quote:

She hoped that would be a nice enough story. It might not be entirely legal to just jump off a bridge into a lake...or had it been a river? Eden didn't know. Not the point.
ADRENALINE. He nodded slowly...... and waited for the story to go somewhere in relation to his question. But it didn’t. Aaaand still didn’t. Fuller blinked at the student. ”Alright, so...? Charms? Anything?” Was she going to relate this story to the lesson at all? Quote:

Ian took a deep breath and tried to think of the magic he would have preferred to use. THinking about carrying those heavy traps around, Ian knew exactly what he'd wished he could do. Even if there was no rule against underage magic, Ian had been lectured by his dad there would be no funny business on his boat. Ian would loved to have levitated his traps about. Professor... Ian began before clearing his throat. I would have liked to be able to use wingardium leviosa. Would have made part of my work easier. ”Good. Thank you.” Honestly, the levitation charm was such a lazy one. But he wouldn’t complain. Quote:

He tried not to laugh at that one. ”Yes, I can imagine that would have been useful.” Quote:

Sure, they weren't exactly fun charms, but with her chores done quickly, it left more time for fun things. And an actual seventh year who could use magic! Lovely. ”Ah, yes, cleaning charms. Time savers indeed.” Quote:

Now that would be awesome spells to learn. ............. ”Interesting.” Not a spell he had ever heard of. ”Let me know if you learn how to do that.” He’d be interested to watch. Quote:

Scratch that idea. AJ raised her hand. "I wish I could have used magic on my chores." Who liked helping to cook, wash dishes and clothes? Not her. ”Yes, chores are a pain without magic. Only a couple more years now.” Right? Maybe more. He didn’t pay attention to his student’s ages. Quote:

She put her hand up. "I don't need to do spells, I get boys to do things for me." PAUSE. "I'm Ruby Banner by the way sir, its SO NICE to meet you."
The getting boys to do things thing was a thing, but honestly if Ruby was putting any particular thought into an answer there were a few things she could say that she'd like to be able to do.
For instance it was totally handy being able to quickly dry your nails without waiting around. She was new, wasn’t she? He didn’t remember her from last term, but she definitely wasn’t a first year. ”That... always helps.” Whatever worked for her. Her being Ruby Banner. ”Err... nice to meet you too.” He wasn’t sure why that last name sounded familiar... Hm. It would come to him. Quote:

There wasn't time for an answer though. Nope. Because no sooner than the question had left his mouth had the Charms Professor come swooping in.
.........
.........Detention? "...Didn't say that Professor." His voice came out strangely calm. Not upset in the least bit. He had offered the Professor help with his hair, that was all really.
Maybe he just needed to clean out his ears? Surely Professor Piersi-wait......no.........his name was Fuller.
Oops.
..."A spell to make myself invisible." Because that would have worked excellent in the summer at any time. And now. Couldn't give detention to an invisible person. Oh, no? He didn’t want detention? ”Be careful of how you speak then,” he said warningly.
At least he answered the question. He got a nod. Quote:

He had to put on a good show for the rest of the class, didn't he? Let them think if they were cheeky with him, he'd glare at 'em and be scary? So she didn't let it bother her too much. It probably wasn't a personal thing.
...But then he gave the threat of detention to poor little Kyroh who OBVIOUSLY was so innocent that Fuller couldn't have REALLY thought the kid was being deliberately cheeky - which was what had made it SO funny in the first place, though, because Kyroh HAD been so obviously unknowing that what he said was not right.
Fuller... was really not a happy camper, however, which made it easier for Soph to stop laughing and sober up a little, only traces of a smile lingering on her face. He... wasn't REALLY mad, was he? Wasn't he putting on a show for the class again? A tough facade so the others who he didn't love as much wouldn't bother him like that in the future?
Riiiiiight??
She tried to look really, really innocent despite the look he was giving her and Tobes, and she managed to peek at her boyfriend and make sure he wasn't taking the scolding from his father figure too terribly. And... it seemed he was taking it pretty hard, based upon the way his whole posture had drooped and he seemed very keen on not making eye contact with anyone ever again in his whole life.
Sophie sighed a little, her expression turned apologetic as she turned her gaze back up to Fuller, wondering if the man realized how quickly Toby's mood had just plummeted, too, and mouthing a "sorry" on behalf of both herself and Tobes.
She was all about remedying the situation as best as she could, of course, and stuck her hand high in the air at the professor's question. She could cheer them both up in an instant, she knew she could. "I wish I could've been able to cast Orchideous to present a bouquet of flowers to people as a congratulations when they shared good news with me." Heeeeeeehehehe. He knew what she meant, right? Even though she was super vague and no one would suspect she meant anything about him? "And using magic to cook stuff and clean up messes would've been good, too." ALSO things he knew all about firsthand. Though she said it all so casually that no one would suspect a thing and it was like a little secret inside joke between them. And Tobes a little. Something... that would... hopefully make him smile? Remember the good times? Et cetera, et cetera? Yes, Sophie, he saw Toby. They both had to know that he was being the TEACHER now. Not the friend. Not the fatherly-figure. Sigh.
Fuller couldn’t help but chuckle at her answer. ”How lovely.” Quote:

You think people would take a hint after she'd gone to the trouble dying her hair black and finding more suitable robes. Slow, that's what these people were.
In all this she didn't move an inch from her spot on his desk. It was quite a lovely desk. The chair looked good too but she'd sit here for now. Thanks for the suggestion though. "I use whatever spells I want whenever I want regardless of the season. What sort of question is this?" Didn't everyone with the capability use magic? It'd be a pity if they didn't. "Though I suppose if you must specify.....In the summer things get hot and I'm more easily irritated. I'd say spells to make people permanently disappear."
That was her take on the matter. Fuller heard the next answer... from behind him. ”I thought I told you to go sit at your own desk. Five points from Gryffindor for not listening. And you’ll lose ten more if you don’t plant your rear end on YOUR chair in the next ten seconds.” HE WAS SRS. SRS FACE. He didn’t care about her silly Mistress of All Evil act. It was CHARMS class for crying out loud. Quote:

She twitched a bit before raising her hand to answer his question. Since he was the professor and everything. A mean one, though. Super mean. "I wanted to make sequins with my wand, but I couldn't even practice it until I got here." Well, she was adorable, wasn’t she? ”Let me know how it turns out.” He’d never seen anyone conjure sequins before. Quote:

He raised his hand. "I wish I could use magic so I could magically vanish all of the Crup poop I had to pick up in the backyard from Baldwin," he said bluntly. It was true, that was the worst chore of them all! Okay, he did laugh at that one. ”That’s a good one.” Poor kid. Quote:

Hand up. “Professor? I’d like to use a charm that could help me clean up my room, putting back all of my stuff where it belongs.” Now that, is dead useful.
Uh-huh. Fuller nodded. ”That’s a good one. It does come in handy.” Not that he was rubbing it in his face or anything. Quote:

That was a very good question actually, which magic would she have liked to have used? Come to think of it there quite a few things she would have had liked to have used, if only she were allowed to that was. But there was one that came straight to her head that she really wished she could used & made her raised her hand, "W-Well...A-At night I-I couldn't really see the text in m-my books too well when I-I had been reading them..A-And there was a constant feeling that I-I wish I could use L-Lumos.." And with Lumos she could definitely read more clearly, all without her father thinking she were awake. Plus, she would have probably have hidden under her quilt & blankets to hide the bright light.
But yes, Lumos would have been something very resourceful to use over the summer Professor Fuller. Fuller always thought Lumos was such a minor spell to use that the Ministry didn’t even pick up on it. But he wasn’t going to suggest that to her. Quote:

Cutty's hand went up and a buncha blah-blah-blah came out his mouth. Like so, "I wish I knew a few good hoodwinking spells. So I could override the trace and practice magic at home during the summeh." Ah, yes, there was a good, solid Slytherin answer. ”Thank you for answering.” He wouldn’t say anything else though. Quote:

She knew that spell from home, and then the ones she’d learned in other classes so far, but she hadn’t known those before she got here. And anyway, obviously her brain couldn’t have turned to mush from not being in class. She’d only had what her mother taught her before now, and she wasn’t allowed to cast spells at home. That was clearly the most upsetting thing going on in his life right now. "Is there a spell to muffle sound, sir?" What was it called again....? "Muffle.... Mufflio?" Yeah! That! Sure! "I could have used that." Fuller was impressed that he could actually understand what this kid was saying this term. Not having a scarf in his face helped. ”Muffliato, yes. It always helps.” Always. Alright, that was enough input. ”Good answers everyone. Without further ado, let us move on to our lesson. What I have planned today is a rather fun activity, one that I think you all will enjoy.” Hopefully. Usually when adults said that, it ended up being the opposite.
During his pause in speech, Fuller flicked his wand a wheeled out a cart with a GIANT pile of old cameras on it. ”Can anybody tell me how moving pictures are produced?” Hmmm? ”There are a few ways, so don’t be afraid to answer. You could be right.” Or you could NOT be, but he was trying to be encouraging. |
