The brilliant colors of the sunset have been painted over by the mystical navy blue of the night sky and as you enter the Astronomy classroom you can see the moon clearly through one of the many windows. The desks are arranged in their usual semi circle to help created a more personal environment, only something seems a bit off as you go to sit down. Both the desk and chair wobble as the legs on one side are longer than the other and cause you to lean quite a bit. Try not to fall out of your seat or have your things fall to the floor, yes?
Did you remember to use the lint roller on the small table outside of the classroom? It was there next to the sign that reads, "Not to be used as a brush for your hair."
A lamp, a quaffle, and 3 can lids painted black rest in the middle of the professor's desk. Professor Flamsteed, wearing the same top hat you may have spotted him with at the Opening Feast, can be seen standing to the right of his desk with a giddy expression on his face and offers you a salute as you move to take your seat.
So come on in and have a seat. Class will begin shortly.

Gwen's hand shot up at the question. This was a question she loved. "My favorite season is summer!" the twelve year old said excitedly. "Because it has my birthday in it, and the Fourth of July!" As the words came out, the American girl realized that likely, that was not a favorite holiday for anyone in this room besides herself. But it was special. She got to go back to New York for July and spend time with her dad and her siblings, and eat hot dogs, and watch baseball games, and the FIREWORKS! It was the most exciting holiday ever.
"'Cause that's a holiday where I'm from," she explained. In case they didn't know. Which some of them probably didn't. America's Independence, as it turned out, was not as important to British people as it was to American people. Even less important to British wizards.
Trying his best not to fall out of his wobbly desk Ezra couldn't help but stare EVERYWHERE. There was no way THIS was the classroom. It was pretty awesome but the guy that had been there with their Head of House for the Gryffindor Meet-and Greet was their Professor so that was good.
Did they get any more of those s'mores?
He was going on about a lot of words he didn't know but he'd caught the universe and the fact that they were going to stay close to home this time. So no spaceships? Did wizards use spaceships?
Favorite season, EASY. "Professor," he raised his hand eagerly. "my favorite season is definitely summer because, before I came to Hogwarts at least, I didn't have to study or work on school work with my dad." he liked school now if it stayed like this all the time. "But I'm looking for other good reasons to like it now. Everyone had good things I could do, MACKING sounds fun." Innocent. He looked over to the first year Ravenclaw who said he older brothers did that. He could do that NO PROBLEM!
Did he not see the problem here? Newell just landed on her bum and that was okay? Actually, it was better than okay. Beverly got to witness quite a nice show. Too bad she didn't carry her camera around. Pitty. She was about to ask why the chairs were in poor balance when she heard a familiar voice, and that familiar nickname...

Entering the classroom, Michael gave the Professor a salute of his own along with a cheerful. "Hey there Professor. Looking good." Of course he wouldn't be caught dead in a top hat, but you know whatever floats the man's boat.
He passed by young Beverly Wayne and tipped her a wink. "Long time, no see Little Bunny." Michael chuckled to himself as he found himself a seat and had to immediately use the weight of his own leg to stop himself from sliding off it. He raised an eyebrow but said nothing as he reached into his bag and pulled out a couple of textbooks and placed them under both the desk and chair leg that seemed to have been cut too short.
There was always something strange going on.
Oh.
She got a wink. He got a tiny grin. "You've been hiding, Train Boy?" she said, not as shy as before, but still quite reserved. Seeing as the lesson might start soon Beverly took a seat next to him, carefully balancing herself to avoid any embarrassing mishaps. She did NOT like this. Thank Merlin she learned about balance this summer.

OOC: This lesson has officially started! Please do not post your character arriving now or else risk loss of house points for your house or some other punishment that Professor Flamsteed feels is appropriate. If you are joining us now, please just pretend as though your character has been here all along!
Class will resume approximately 18 hours from the time of this post.
Turning her attention towards the front, she wasn't sure whether to feel curious as to why the furniture was all wonky on purpose, or scowl because she could fall at any given moment her balance slipped. Who was she kidding, she couldn't scowl at Professor Airey. He was nice and had nice hair, and his eyes and...
Favorite season? RIGHT. THAT. Raising her hand, she grinned to herself. No more stiffness or aches. BAH. Life was good. "Autumn, because it isn't too warm nor too cold. Just right." Although...summer was tied with Autumn because of reasons. It was something she wasn't going to share.
Nola peered around the person in front of her so she could see the teacher more clearly. The first question was simple but then Nola realized that she didn't have a favorite season.
After waiting a while for others to answer the question Nola finally raised her hand. I hope he sees me. I'm short. Nola thought to herself. When it was finally her turn Nola stood on top of her chair to deliver her answer.
"I guess I like the winter. There aren't as many hurricanes in the winter, and I don't like hurricanes. Do you like hurricanes, sir? They mess up quite a lot but I know some people think they're neat because they're so big and powerful." Of course, no conversation with Nola was complete if it didn't involve at least twenty or so questions.

She grinned, ignoring the obvious cliche in her statement because starting at Hogwarts was just so exciting she decided it deserved large scale acknowledgment. A class full of older student is pretty large scale when you're eleven.
Marigold grabbed the desk for support as she carefully lowered herself into a sitting position. Eeeek... There. Balance. She was tempted to take her arms of the desk, but she figured she would probably fall off again. So she struggled to get her quill ready for notes. Which she probably wouldn't be taking for a bit because they were answering a question about FAVORITE SEASONS. Marigold heard the girl (still needed to find out her NAME!!!) say a really adorable thing, so she shot the girl a grin before raising her hand.
"My favorite season is... Probably summer. Because I get to spend time with friends and family I don't usually see. But also, Autumn, because I get to come back to Hogwarts. Or winter, because you can stay by the fire and just talk all day. Or spring, because like Marty or whatever his name is said, it's the hope after thinking winter is never going to end."
... She didn't answer the question, did she. Sigh.
Vinnie sat on her wobbly chair and tried not to fall of. Her foot tapping the floor the brunette listened to the professor. Wait...what?! How did the seasons influence anstronomy? She really needed to pay more attention in classes. After all she had promissed herself this term would be her term.
"My favourite season is autumn", the Slytherin said raising her hand,"the beginning of autumn to be precise." When the leeaves turned from green to orange and slowly fell to the ground. It was like the world took of its mask. Turning into what it really looked like, colourful and full of variety. "I guess its because everything looks like a mild sunset, its calm. Feels a bit like peace." Did that make sense to anyone but her? Vinnie wasnt sure but her brain just worked that way.

This proved her theory that 'fessor F was crazy. Why would he purposely mess up the furniture in here? Had someone hit him on the head? Maybe his brain had been taken over summer or something. She was betting on the blow to the head, though.
Balanced as best as she could, the Hufflepuff waited her turn to answer with her hand in the air and spoke when it was. "Spring. It makes me think of new things. New beginnings and little lambs or something." Did that mean she wanted a lamb or a new beginning when it was spring? No. But it did mean she'd probably gut their dorm of the paper chains and colourings in there and switch them out for new ones.
Lana threw her hand up into the air and beamed. "Spring is my favorite, sir. I love it when all the flowers broom and the snow melts and the birds start to come back and sing! It's when all the baby animals start to be born, too. I just love it." She pulled her hand back down and crossed her arms, smiling again.
Airey puffed out his chest a little and tugged on his jacket. "Why thank you. Just had it pressed this afternoon." He was getting better at using the iron these days.
Especially since he hadn't tried to use it as a make-believe microphone recently.
Suit proud much? He didn't blame him, the suit was nice. As far as suits went, of course, Donny wasn't a suit-guy. Suit-kid? He preferred comfortable clothes, like for adventures. "It shows!" Donny smiled and gave him the thumbs up.

Donny leaned back on his chair in an attempt to get comfortable, but sat straight, or as straight as he could, when they were told to. It wouldn't do to fall off your seat once class had actually started.... but it'd be funny.. He grinned a bit before focussing on what was being said. So.. they were meant to be broken. Were they going to stack the chair like circus people? If so, could he climb them?!
He didn't understand much of what was being said and didn't know what seasons had to do with this, but he raised his hand and cleared his throat anyway.
Duh, easy! Summer! Even if his birthday was in December, summer was best. "Summer! Yeah! Yeah, I like the beatss and and.. swimming. Outside. The outside swimming, you'd freeze if you went swimming in December."
Simple enough. If this lesson was full of these kind of questions Donny was sorted!

The wacky chair and desk were going to be annoying and clearly Ben wasn't the only one having trouble. Part of the plan? Then all he could do was deal with it. As Professor Flamstead started the class and asked them all a question on seasons, the third thought about his own answer as he listened to what others had to say. All had good and bad qualities and as he decided to loop his ankles around his chair's legs to keep himself in place, he finally made his decision and raised his hand.
"My favorite season is fall," Benny remarked, noting the very few in the class who had said it as well. Including a Ravenclaw girl who looks a little like Angel. The missing triplet perhaps? Summer and Winter seemed to be the preferred seasons of most and he could see why. It just wasn't his. "Its usually not too hot or cold, doesn't rain a lot and you can eat, drink or do many interesting things then."

Cris was waiting for class to start when, from the corner of his eye, he noticed someone sitting next to him. Turning his head, he realized that it was Jasmine. His day just got much better. Smiling at her, he mouthed a hello greeting. Of course he would have said it aloud if not for the fact that Professor Flamsteed had officially started his lesson.
Giving Jasmine a conspiratorially wink, he turned to the front and listened as the Professor posed his first question. What was his favorite season of the year? No brainer there. Cris waited for the others to share their answers before he raised his hand.
"Professor, my favorite season is Autumn. I love it when the fauna and flora start to change colors, especially when the leaves change from green to red, orange and yellow," Cris paused for a second to savor that memory. Then he continued with his reason.
"I also like the brisk cool air. Not yet freezing though so it's still nice to go hiking. One of the other reasons I love Autumn is, when the time is right, I can gaze up at the night sky and see the Aurora Borealis. Now that sight is breath taking. However, if I'm not lucky to see that, I know there's still a whole bunch of constellations I can spot, for example Andromeda, Cassiopeia, Pegasus and even the Triangulum."
....Hey this was Astronomy class....and Cris did love to star gaze. What a coincidence indeed.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Was the Professor mocking him? Kevin had the feeling he was and he sighed loudly and threw his hands in the air dramatically before leaving. He knew he wasn't going to get any real answer, he was wasting precious time. And he was also not going to beg ask the Professor if he could remove the writing on his forehead. His pride was too big for that.
Finding an empty seat, the second year Gryffindor grabbed the desk and lowered down until he was seated on the chair. He had to maintain his balance but eventually it worked. Yeah, he had noticed the people around him falling down, he was rude not stupid.
Raise your hand...How about NO. The didn't want to give him a real answer? Then Kevin was not going to raise his hand, simple as that. Beside, if he tried raising his hand he would probably fall and that was probably what the Professor was looking for. So without raising his hand in the air, he spoke. "Spring because it's not too hot and not too cold" easy right?
Emmylou had to think about it for a moment and while she did she listened to what all the other students were saying about it. Emmylou looked around and thought about it, she just knew that she couldn't pick two answers. She loved spring but she had to admit that summer was her favorite and winter was her least favorite but she didn't hate any of the seasons but she was just used to the warm weather.
Emmy didn't know much about the stars but she knew that she would learn more about them and any space in this class. "My favorite season is Summer because it's nice and warm out and you can go eat ice cream, swim, surf and look at all the stars and stuff." Emmylou's voice was soft with her southern accent. She was just shy, she didn't know any of these students or the professor.

Austin thought about the question. Favorite season? He really liked summer, but it always got way too hot, and he would spend a lot of his time indoors, where it was cool. Winter was way too cold for his liking, and he never seemed to have enough layers. There was always Spring, but his allergies starting acting up in spring, especially when there was a lot of pollen everywhere. Which, by process of elimination, his favorite season would have to be fall. But why? He didn't really know, but decided to wing it anyways.
He raised his hand, and once he was called on, answered the teachers question. "I particularly like Fall because it's not too cold, but not too hot. You can wear sweaters and be fine, or walk around in shorts and a T-shirt and be fine too. It's also the time when the leaves start to change color, and it always reminds me that not all beauty needs magic. Things can be changed and created on their own, without the help of wands."

Class could be held this late? Clearly because it was dark outside and here they were just starting class. Kyroh yawned, eyes watering just a bit as he stared at the professor. It wasn't that late so normally he wouldn't have been tired, but he had gotten up EXTRA early this morning just because he was so excited for more classes.
"Winter sir!" Why though? Uh wasn't it obvious? "Because it snows in winter and you can play with snow of course. Like you can have snow ball fights, make snowmen, snow angels, igloos, you can even live in an igloo you made for the winter." The list was ENDLESS with snow. "And when Winter comes you know that Christmas is coming and that means Christmas break so then you get to hang out with all your family and stuff, and you get really good food and everyone is always happy and there is always cheerful music and you get gifts for no reason really." That was his answer.
Oh LOOK there was Ezra! And that girl. Macking...what?

Good question! EASY in fact. Ava didn't even have to think about it.
She raised her hand high. "My absolute favorite season is the Spring," she announced proudly. The reason why was just as easy to explain. "All the baby animals are born in the Spring. My momma says that many of the creatures, magical and non-magical alike, have their babies during the springtime because it's easier to take care of their young when there's plenty of food and plants and grass around," she recited, hoping she'd remembered that alright.
Before coming to Hogwarts, Ava always got to help with the new arrivals. Thinking about it for long would only make her homesickness return so instead of elaborating, she lowered her hand and returned it to her lap.

Yeah, this was definitely a question anyone could actually answer since it was something everyone had. Or at least, most did, since she wasn't entirely sure what her favorite season was. There were things she liked and disliked about every season for the most part.
Her first thought was to say summer though since it meant no school, but then it hit her that that wouldn't be a thing for her after this term. All seasons would mean no school, just work. There were still other things to like about summer, but was it still her favorite? Hmm.
She considered the question a bit more before finally raising her hand. "Winter's my favorite 'cause it's when I was born," she said with a grin. Obviously that meant it was the best season. But her hand stayed up. "No, actually," 'cause that was just a joke, "I think my favorite season's spring. I like when it finally starts warming up but isn't TOO hot, so it's less of a pain being outside." There was also something else that she particularly liked about spring, but she wasn't sharing that in class. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't any random classmate's business.
Also...Quidditch. She glanced at West when he mentioned it, and though she agreed it was also the best "season", she wasn't gonna comment. Or think about it much. Because it would just upset her all over again and she didn't wanna be upset right now.

The tilted chair and desk were uncomfortable. As if coming to class wasn't a chore enough, they didn't even get proper chairs. Richard could just imagine someone falling off their chair before the lesson ended.
Actually, that would be pretty funny. As long as it wasn't him, of course.
He didn't understand much of what the Professor was saying - Earth's function in the cosmic machine that is the universe whaaaa? - but he did understand that last question. Sigh. It was time to actually come through with his promise to his Mum about participating in lessons more. Wiggling a bit on his seat, trying to sit up straight and fight gravity, the fourteen year old raised his hand. "Summer, definitely! 'Cause there's no school and I'm actually home so Mum can take me to gigs! But there's not much Quidditch either, so ... that's not very good."

Not broken?! Of course her chair was broken! Did he not see her on the FLOOR five seconds ago? She just looked up at him, still kind of embarrassed, then did her best to settle in her seat.
Broken. Yes. It was broken.
She gave an inner sigh when he insisted, even still, that nothing was wrong with the chairs. Anyway... She gave him her full attention when it seemed like the lesson was officially starting. Oh, good--an easy question to get them started!
Sophie waved her hand in the air. "Spring, because like other people said, it's not too hot and not too cold. Also, we have the whole summer ahead of us to look forward to. During summer, we know the next school year's just up ahead," she said.

Now sitting with one leg extended out to keep him in his seat, Declan slightly raising his hand, opened his mouth to speak, but shut it back up when he heard an answer different from the others. Quidditch season?? His eyes shot to the quaffle on the desk next to the cool lamp. Clever min, that boy is.
Being that the boy's answer was brilliant, Dec didn't really have to urge to answer anymore. He shifted his focus to his leg, just to make sure he didn't trip anyone. And did anyone really want to know what his favorite season was?? No. But, just in case, "Winter." He missed the snow after seven years of rarely seeing it.

And he knew the answer to the first question too! Or not really, 'cause Dima liked ALL the seasons. There was something nice about every one of them. But that freakishly tall guy to the right of him had a pretty good answer, so he'd just ride along with it. Good job, guy!

Kace was in Astronomy again. He liked this class might due to the fact that the teacher was quite awesome. He was sitting in his desk and was surprised his chair wasn't broken. But he asked what his favorite season was? That was a good question. Well he was born in the winter....was that his favorite season? Eh nah....
He raised his hand and said, "My favorite season is Summer. I love the idea of being in the sun and going to the beach. Plus i love the idea of barbeques and eating outside." he nodded. Then he heard someone mention Quidditch season and he smirked. He liked that too but quidditch season was during a little bit in the summer so it fit right in.
"Not from you Bunny." He grinned back at her. He'd kind of been too preoccupied with a certain Minister's daughter. Hehe. When she sat down beside him, Michael leaned over and whispered to her. "We should catch up. I want to hear about your summer and what you've been up to since I last saw you." He straightened up when the Professor began talking again.
Eh this should have been an easy question to answer and it would have been, but things had happened to change his mind. Michael raised his hand. "Originally I would have said summer because that is when school is out and the weather is nice and warm. That's the time Zahra and I got to spend climbing trees, swimming, camping...stuff like that."
But their parents had gone and ruined all that.
"Since we can't do that anymore, then I guess my favourite is now autumn. That's when school starts back up and I get to get away from my parents."
Angst much.

Silas chewed his bottom lip for a moment before slowly raising his hand. "Spring, sir. All of the plants start to... bloom and stuff." With that he lowered his hand equally as slow and looked down at his desk. He liked plants. They were cool.
