Checking to make sure the chalk board was clean, Airey gave his wand a flick to charm the chalk to write down answered and any additional tidbits students shared.

"While I am sure others appreciate such public displays of affection, I would prefer that they remain something not done in my classroom. Especially to me." He had to keep a professional environment after all, with the one exception being graduating seventh years on the final lesson of the term. But even then he was really just throwing them a bone because they had asked first. "Two points from Slytherin, as a reminder for how to handle future hugging urges."

And now he was going to awkwardly sidestep awaaaaaaaaay...

He gave her an bright smile and encouraging nod for her answer though. Yes. Thank you.

Ah yes, the leaves changing colors. A time Airey, and several others it seemed, quite enjoyed. Especially leaf piles. Those were lots of fun. The professor had just added the boy's tally to the board and was about to move on when...............oh he wasn't done yet. Okay then.

"We are quite lucky when we can see the Aurora Borealis here at Hogwarts," he nodded. Pity the school wasn't located further north so they could see it more often. "Typically the closest the Lights usually gets to Britain with any intensity is northern Scandinavia. However, my mate Northumberland has told me he has seen it from his home as well." Just....rare. VERY rare. Perhaps a field trip in the future to be able to see it properly. You know, just zap on up to the North Pole.

"That could very well be Astronomy's slogan. Take two points for your answer."

And he was going to put that somewhere in his office.

Chicken-Leg-Boy was certainly enthusiastic about winter, and Airey grinned at the mention of snowball fights. "Thank you, Mr. Scabior," he nodded, that connection to a former colleague still not entirely firing in his brain just yet. "Perhaps come winter time we should have a snowball fight on the grounds?" His blue eyes darted towards Mr. Rehman as well.

He had seen this answer coming, but really was surprised that it took so long to get here and...well...now the astronomer felt awkward and it FINALLY clicked why the quaffle was getting such forlorn looks from various students.

"When it comes to the Earth, these four seasons are vital to life on Earth and they effect the way EVERYTHING grows. Now, as most of you indicated in your answer, the key difference between these seasons is a climate change. This is something that our ancient ancestors noticed as well. More specifically, they realized that there were four seasons that occurred every three moon cycles and that creates 12 months which makes one year!"

Ahem. Anyway. Back to getting into the real meat of the lesson here...oh...meat...food...NO! Teaching.

"Now, the reason why the Earth's seasons occur as they do, two reasons really, but I am looking for one in particular," he smirked as he lowered his top had a little more to one side and gave a knowing look at their desks. Since they all seemed to be having some issues with the quaffle being there, he might need to make a sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiight adjustment to how this lesson would be done today. Might be more entertaining for him with this new plan that was festering in his head anyway. Heh. "So." Serious game face time. "In four words or less, five if you must, who can tell me why the Earth has seasons?"

And in case they were not aware of it already, he had given them a very large hint already. Two very large hints really. Heh.
