Entering the common room through the same corridor as the kitchens the kitchens, you will find a pile of large barrels stacked in the shadowy stone recess to your right. The second barrel from the bottom, middle of the second row, will open when tapped to the enunciation of 'Helga Hufflepuff'. (*Note: non-Hufflepuffs who tap the wrong barrel, or the incorrect number of times, will result in one of the lids bursting off and dousing the trespasser in vinegar)
Following a sloping, earthy passage inside the barrel, which will then travel upwards slightly, a cozy, round, low-ceilinged room comes into view. Welcome! Your common room is like your sanctuary. During your seven years here, your house will be like your family. The room is decorated in the cheerful house colors of yellow and black, enhanced by the use of highly polished honey-colored wood for the tables and then round doors which lead to the boys' and girls' dormitories.
Directly over the wooden mantelpiece, which is covered with carvings of decorative dancing badgers, is a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff, your house founder and one of the four Hogwarts founders, toasting her students with a tiny, two-handled golden cup. There are small, round windows level with the ground at the foot of the castle, showing a pleasant view of grass and flowers, occasionally people. As a result of the low windows, the room has a year-round sunny feel to it.

Minerva smiled, "Yes he stood up for you. He was a real great brother to be honest. I know we weren't even speaking at the point and I think that pushed me further into being a git. But I am sorry for my words." She thought about if she remembered, but another thought crossed her mind, "How did Ari take the news? Geeze go out of the country and then get sick and you miss so much. Well I'm happy for both of them, and I'm sorry but I don't remember her, but if she is part of your family I bet she is great."
He couldn't fight the laugh that time, "That's hilarious... Rowan standing up for me." He shook his head, "I'm sure he'll love me telling him I know about it also..." Damon looked at her with a kind smile, "I really don't mind, it's not like you said anything to horrible about me after all." At the mention of Ariana he sighed, still didn't care for her that much, "She... could've responded better, locked herself in her room at Millie's, but that still wasn't the worst reaction... Because apparently Rowan and Millie are bringing another 'unholy' creature into this world according to Ariana's parents. Gotta tell you that they were... a few colorful words I'd get docked major points for saying. But Siobian... She's not the best girl honestly. She has a binding spell on me that if I do anything to make Taylor unhappy, I get major pain in my legs, can't even walk and if I try to fight it, the pain gets worse..." He winced just thinking about the unpleasant experience again, "I have two against me for Taylor's happiness, and still don't know which is worse, Siobian's lovely little curse or Henry's promise to banish me and my father."
Alyssa listened as Fin explained why he was back in Hogwarts. "O_o you got beat up. Wow! now that wasn't nice. Well anyway it's good to have you back here, even though I didn't get to really meet you before you left."
Then she laughed when he suddenly perked up when she reminded him about the pumpkin pie they had tried to make together. He wanted food! He was hungry. "Oh you're hungry? I'll go get you some, right away." Alyssa quickly rushed off to the kitchen to get him some.
"He loves pumpkin pie, I'll get him plenty of that and maybe some Irish stew...and what else?" Alyssa mumbled to herself as she rushed to the kitchen to grab what she thought Fin would like. "The best way to a guy's heart is through his stomach...that's what people say." Alyssa kept talking to herself as she carried the food back into the Common Room.
Then she stopped. 'Wait a minute, Alyssa what the heck are you doing? You're not a house elf. Just because you have a crush on the guy doesn't mean that you're going to do everything for him, just so he will notice you.'Alyssa thought to herself. John had told her, don't do the chasing. If the guy liked her, he should do it. 'Okay John you'd better be right here.'Alyssa told herself.
So Alyssa calmly walked up to Fin. "So you're really hungry. Well here I got some food for you. I brought some scones, some Irish Stew, a big whole pumpkin pie just for you and even a little slice with whipped cream on it. All just for you. Here why don't you try this slice of pie first." Alyssa said sweetly offering it to Fin, carefully bringing the slice of pie up to his mouth, before shoving it into his mouth.
"Next time get your own food." Alyssa told him before she turned from him and sat back on the sofa. She was angry at herself for doing what she just did, but she still felt the sting of rejection when she had asked him to go out with her on Christmas Day and he had said no.
Well duh I got beat up. “Yeah but I’m all better now. See?” he pulled on his nose.“My nose is no longer jacked up and my eye is no longer black and blue.” He smiled. “I think it’s better than it was before.” He laughed.
Wait where was she going? Nooooo don’t leave. Was he really that boring? He was wasn’t he? He frowned just standing there all alone.
Fin gasped. What was going on with her? Why was she being like this? Oh…um. She was the one that offered to get HIM food. He didn’t know what she was going to do with the food and now she’s mad. Well he was going to let her be mad.

He looked around and walked away.

Minerva frowned, "I knew her parents were jerks, but geeze." That was horrible for people to think that way. "Well I hope Rowan gets a good laugh from you, but he really did stick up for you." She smiled, "Well that was quick for them to be having a baby already." she smiled "I am happy for them though." She then looked shocked that him, "You are fifteen, people need to stop over reacting. That is ridiculous. We have plenty of time to decided and change then decide again what our future is going to be." She didn't like hearing people where being jerks to her friend.

Laura wasn't happy she had heard from her sister that a Hufflepuff had been spreading rumours that she had been kissing boys in the common room, well she wasn't happy she sat in a chair and waited for her three friends to come in they had some explaining to do.

Laura looked at Oakey, she really liked him but did he like her and had she just ruined her friendship with him, this was the first time she had felt this way about anyone but well did Oakey feel the same way, well he was blushing but was that more of shock than anything else.
Laura looked at Oakey and then smiled. "I don't think so because they said I was kissing loads of boys in the common room but your just one and well your special so you don't count." Laura replied truthfully, wondering what Oakey would say next, she hoped he wouldn't run out of the common room and never speak to her again.
I see them differently... what does that even mean? And more importantly, was that a good thing or a bad thing? He didn't seem to understand the meaning behind half of what she said. Or perhaps he was just over-analyzing it all. Maybe she just means I'm looking at how everyone plays, while the rest of them just.. play. Yeah, that must be it. Hers had been a statement of fact, and that was it.
Good. "I thought so. No one likes to not be good, after all." Wow. What a dumb thing to say, Keef! Stop sabotaging yourself by being an idiot! He mentally told himself to relax and focused back on his task. His hand gripped a crumpled letter in his pocket. He opened his mouth to change the topic, but was completely distracted by her next action. His shoulders tensed and he sharply drew in a breath. His head twisted sideways to stare at his shoulder, but he couldn't see it through the mass of wavy gold that was blocking his view. The sight both paralyzed him and emboldened him.
He ignored what she had to say about Vindictus and Kimalia. It was now or never. Treyen had said to just go for it. Just be as straightforward as possible, he quoted to himself. He had read over Treyen's advice enough times to have it mostly memorized. Right, just do it.
"Kate, I like you. Will you go out with me sometime? On a date."
Short and simple, brief and to-the-point.
...and now an agonizing wait for an answer.
No, no one does. Keefer was right about that, of course. No further comments were made, however, because maybe he had some other news about what had happened on the Pitch? Yet no words were coming from him.
Kate had missed his reaction, mainly because her mind was too preoccupied with the fact that he still wasn't saying anything. Even a nod would've sufficed. Then again, if he'd nodded, she would've missed it too.
His breathing had changed. That much she noticed.
And then..., and then..., and then she was completely caught off guard. Her head was no longer on his shoulder, that's for sure, and her mind was having issues as it tried to make sense to her answer. One she should give him soon, right? The weird thing is, she already knew what her answer was, but she was speechless.
So, she'd been right about the kiss, then? That was why he blushed? Because he likes her? Kate was the one blushing now. There was even a smile on her face as her eyes found his. "Yes, of course." 'I like you, too' would've been a perfect reply too, but she couldn't bring herself to say that yet. Even if she felt the same way about him.

Minerva smiled, "Well at least he likes somewhere." she smiled and stood up, "Damon I have to get going to the library to work on some homework. Are you sure you will be okay? Do you need anything?" She looked at her friend worried, but glad she had become his friend so he had another puff friend to help in the common room if he needed. She leaned down and hugged him, "I'm glad your okay."
He nodded, "I'll be fine," He hugged her back slowly standing, "But I think I'll head out of a little while. I've been trapped in here for so long I haven't seen anyone." In other words he hadn't seen Taylor in a week, "But before I do I should probably go grab a little more pain potion." Damon turned towards the boys dormitory, "Thank you Min, one more second alone I probably would've gone rightfully insane."
