There was a crisp, cool breeze outside, indicating that the holidays weren't too far away now. The leaves blow across the ground, racing you down to the greenhouses where Professor Bentley is waiting in Greenhouse Three.
Inside, Professor Bentley is standing beside two long rows of puffapod plants, each with pods bursting with seeds, just waiting to be harvested. Most of the students would recognise them from the previous year ... how time has flown! Stools are arranged along the perimeter of the raised flower bed, waiting for the students to be seated.
OOC: THE LESSON HAS STARTED, DO NOT ARRIVE LATE--JUST PRETEND YOU WERE HERE THE WHOLE TIME. Now the yucky work... Daichi opened up the pod a little bit and slide his hand in the pod. It felt slimey and squishy and ...the Slytherin didn't really like it. He wasn't afraid of getting dirty because he didn't mind dirt or mud and other stuff... but slime? eww. Daichi held his hand up to check on his gloved hand and made a face as the slime was dripping on the table. He went back in the pod and searched with his fingers for a seed..or bean. Feeling one against his finger, he reached for it and pulled it out. The second one followed quiet quickly and so did the third. But the fourth was proving to be a bit difficult as the Slytherin tried to find it with his fingers, yugh this was so not his thing! Then he felt the seed and grabbed it out just like the others. He checked his parchment and after reading there should be either 4 or 5 of them he checked one last time but didn't find any more. His pod had only 4 seed bean..thingies.

Having completed the first four steps, Zhenya consulted her notes to see what was left. What could be next? Agh, she saw she needed to clean up.
She got put her wand and said "scourgify" whils pointing at her scalpel. It was nice and clean. She wasn't sure if she should keep her apron on or not but she took it off anyway. Then she took of her gloves and put them in the bin. Her area looked nice and clean.

Seren began doing the rounds, making sure nobody decided to slice and dice themselves or their peers... because Tate wouldn't appreciate it, and she wouldn't appreciate the paperwork. Nightmare.

Oh? this one was done already?... Seren looked over her work station and everything seemed to be in order. "Just leave it on your work space for the time being. I'll collect them all when the lesson is over."

Seren was conscious of the fact that more students were finishing up now, which was good. It meant they were eager and on task. "We'll be moving onto the next activity in a moment dear," she said with a smile.
"Great work everyone, finish off quickly as we need to move on shortly," she called out as she continued to circulate the room. They were almost done anyway.
OOC: You still have approx 24 hours to complete this task and then we'll be moving on. So DON'T PANIC! there is time!
Also note: Pods yield ONE colour seeds only, not mixed. But they can either be pink, purple or orange... but NOT mixed. XD

Now, the last thing to do was to clean up, as what the list of steps on her notebook. So, Beezus placed the calico bag on the side, and took out her wand. She pointed it towards the scalpel and, "Scourgify." she uttered and the scalpel then turned clean. She also placed it on the side and started tidying up all the other things which were in work area.
Next was to wait for further instructions.

Jezzabelle pulled off one of her rubber gloves and pulled out her wand. She didn't want that goo on her little wand right? With a sigh and a smiled she said, "Scourgify." Her scalpel was all nice and clean now. She tucked it into the bin underneath the work station. Now the apron. "Scourgify." All that gooey mess was removed and she smiled a little more satisfied.
Removing the other rubber glove she rubbed her hands together and sighed. She needed lotion. She then cleaned those, not really sure if she need to or not. She then placed everything back where she got it from. Now to patiently wait for the next step of instructions.

Deciding that her bag with 5 puffapod seeds OF THE SAME COLOR would be safer under the table, Kurumi picked it up and tucked it safely there before returning her attention to the plant placenta goo covered surface. Where to begin? The table was a slight mess, she had it all the way up her arm, and there was a glob of it on her head.
Kurumi removed her wand from her pocket and pointed it towards the table's surface. "Scourgify...Tergeo," she said, repeating the spells from earlier a few times to ensure that it was just as clean, if not cleaner, than when she had come in. Kurumi then set her wand down on the table and removed her gloves starting with the elastic around her wrists and pulling downwards so that they turned inside out and none of the goo got onto the clean surface of the table and then banished them with another flick of her wand.
Her station all clean, Kurumi forgot about the goo on top of her head and checked over her list of tasks. Having accomplished them all, Kurumi bent down and pick up the calico bag from under her station and set it on top. Now...to wait.
She should keep her apron on for now, right?

Slime, slime, slime.... Eww gross. But Selina was glad that she at least had her hand out of the pod now. Thank Merlin for that. Bentley was going to get a visit later. Selina was going to inquire if they could do a lesson without getting plant juices all over themselves; although, that was just part of herbology. She was just going to stiff her upper lip and deal with it. At least it hadn't exploded all over her ARM like kurumi.

Selina then threw the four seeds in her bag that she had been provided. That part was easy. Then she stuck her hand back I'm the plant and ripped off the membrane. Once that grossness was done she threw it in the composition heap.

Now that everything was done and dusted, Elise pulled off her apron. It was just too slimy to be good for her, no matter how good it may be for her skin. Didn't change the fact that she loved Herbology, though.
Pulling her wand out of her left pocket, she pointed it at her apron. "Tergeo," she muttered, letting the gooey substance slide off her apron. "Scourgify."
"Scourgify. Scourgify," she mumbled, pointing her wand at the various places all covered in goo. Gross.
One everything was finished, she folded her apron and set it on her table. That was fast enough. Now, to wait for further instructions.

Wiping his slimey gloved hands on his apron, Daichi read the next instruction and got back to work. He collected the four seeds (Purple he was interested to notice) and carefully placed them in the calico bag provided for them all.
Daichi removed the remaining membrane from the plant by pulling it off the stem and as he walked towards the compost heap he wondered if the Professor had been right about the membrane being good for you skin. Looking around, Daichi ungloved one of his hands and smeared a bit on the top of his hand... now waiting for something to happen. Dumping the membrane in the compost the Slytherin turned back to his working space for the final step. Cleaning..yay...

Something slimey came out from the part he incised earlier. Hades' facial expression immediately changed. He looked so disgusted and somewhat relieved that he had the gloves on. Imagine if he was being stubborn and chose to use his bare hands in the first place... That thought made the so-called-tough guy shuddered. He will be needing hand sanitiser afterwards. Did they have it at Hogwarts? It didn't matter anyways since he had his own.
Putting down the scalpel next to him, Hades used the same hand to retrieve the seed. His face still looked disgusted when he inserted his hand into the pod. Merlin! This was like searching for lost pieces of bullets in someone's body! Frankly, Hades would've fainted if it was a human. The hand inside the pod was grasping for something which he later pulled out and they were actually four Puffapod seeds.

Then Minerva looked under her work space and pulled out all her tools that she would need for the day. First she put on her apron and made sure it was positioned the right way. She remembered not having an apron at muggle school on correctly once and getting paint all over her new shirt. So this time she double checked her apron. The she put her latex gloves on her hands. Time to get to work she thought.

Standing in front of his work station, Daichi wondered how to clean the slime on the table. He looked around in the hope of finding someone who was already cleaning and saw several students using magic ..scourgify to be exact to help them. Of course..magic.. duh. Moving his hand, his wand shot out of it's wrist holster and in to his hand. He pointed the wand at the slime and said. "Scourgify!" A proud look became visible on his face as he watched the dirty table got cleaner. Scourgify was the only spell so far he had mastered without trying. And he was proud of that!
Cleaning the gloves and apron as well, Daichi placed them back from where he had found them and waited for further instructions.

She smiled and took her scalpel. She made sure she was holding the scalpel tight and correct before reaching for the pod. She knew it was just a plant, but she was hoping the incision wouldn't hurt it. It just seemed like everything had feelings at the school no matter living or not. Once Minerva took the pod she leaned it to get the best angle for a good visual. She took the scalple and made a careful and straight incision from the top of the pod to the bottom of the pod.
Even though his hand was no longer in the membrane, Hades looked disgusted regardless. The slime was still on the seeds, thus it made his hand covered with the slime. Using the hand he used to support the pod earlier, Hades grasped the end of the pod which was attached to the stem and pulled it off with a jerk. Then, he picked up the scalpel he layed down earlier and put it onto the table before going to the calico bag where he deposited the seeds and the compost heap where he threw the membrane.

After double checking, and triple checking the time on her watch, Seren then let the door to the greenhouse close and she turned her attention to the students. "Good morning everyone! I hope you've all come prepared, because we have a busy lesson ahead of us." Busy was probably an understatement. "We have a lot of work to do and a lot to learn, so brace yourselves," she warned with a small mischievous smile.
"Now many of you will recognise these puffapods we planted last year... well now it's time to harvest this seasons seeds!" And yes this was a VERY exciting task, especially if you liked getting a little messy. She looked down briefly at the rows of puffapods in front of them, large ostrich egg sized pods sat upright, attached to low stems. They varied in colour, ranging from light pinks to bright reds, some containing pink seeds, others orange or purple.
With a swish of her wand, the blackboard that was over to the side rolled into position. It's old wheels squeaking in the process. "Note down the following instructions as I walk you through your first task for today."
After pausing briefly, waiting for the students to pull out their notebooks, Seren then stepped up to one of the puffapods. Time for a demonstration. "So first of all, if you look under your work space you will find all the necessary equipment you will need. These include a scalpel, latex gloves... you won't need your dragon hide ones until the next activity... and then you have a bag for the seeds you harvest." She held up her small calico bag as an example.
After pulling on her latex gloves, she then gestured to the puffapod in front of her. "Puffapod seeds... or beans as they are sometimes known, develop and grow within these sizable membranes we call pods. They are very tough and very firm, but as the seeds within them ripen, the membrane becomes softer and easier to pierce." Taking up her scalpel she conducted the first step, making an incision down the side. "The membrane won't harm you. It is not poisonous, if anything it would probably do your skin some good. But I'm guessing not many of you like sticking your hand into a lump of what is essentially plant placenta." Mmm delightful thought. "It is very slimy, and is very much like jelly... but you probably shouldn't eat it, you'll get a stomach ache."
Sticking her hand into the incision, she took hold of one of the ripened seeds and pulled it out, wiping off the excess jelly with her fingers. "And there you have it... a puffapod seed... or bean... whichever you want to call it."
"It's a messy task, which is why you have aprons and gloves, but you should all manage it."
"Good luck, and .... go!" Of course, it wasn't a race or anything.

Harvey listened and watched as Professor Bentley demonstrated how to harvest puffapod seeds.. he watched as Professor Bentley made an incision down the side of the pod.. and then she inserted he hand into it and pulled out a seed with some jellylike stuff on it.. yuck! it WAS messy.. he thought as Professor Bentley said it.. he kept a straight face as he watched all this... but feeling a bit sick watching that.. and then soon it was his turn..

he promptly crossed off the first on his list and started putting on his protective gear.. he took out his apron and put it on with a little difficulty trying to tie it up behind his back.. but he got there in the end.. he then took out the latex gloves and put those on too making sure they were on properly. He then got ready for the next step

LuLu turned to the instructions, refusing to look inside the plant did not seem to be an option, sadly! At least it wasn't another episode of the dung! Ewwww! She smiled and put her gloved hand into the incision without looking at it she felt for any seeds, so small.... things! She took her hand out and there was only one in the palm of her hand, disappointing! She put her hand in searching better this time, this, this feeling was odd but it didn't really affect her but it seemed it was otherwise for some of the other students! She took her hand out and looked at the five seeds in her hands which was including the one she picked out earlier
His workstation was full of gooey slimey stuffs. Eew! Hades was about to take out his wand, but realised that the glove on his wand hand was also covered by the gooey stuff. Taking the latex gloves off, he threw them onto the workstation. Only then he pulled out his wand and pointed it to the whole workstation including the Puffapod, gloves and table covered with slime. "Tergeo!" spoke the blonde clearly as he performed the spell.
After that, he took off the apron and hung it over his shoulder before grabbing the cleaned gloves. Next, he went to return them to store and cupboard.

Ok now for the...incerting.
First off that just sounded horrible, who, other than a surgeon would ever want to place their hands inside of a wound in a membrane? Glad that he had on gloves, Auggie held the thing open before sticking his hand inside the pink pod and feeling around for the seeds. "Ugh...gross." He said softly to himself.
After a few minutes of fishing around the gooey stuff inside, Auggie found 1, 2, 3, 4 seeds. He plopped them into the calico bag that was instructed for them to use and was about to give up when he found one more seed.

Olivia reached her hand into the center of the pod, and fished arround for anything that felf like a seed. She grabbed onto something hard and pulled it out. Yup, it was a bright orange seed. She stuck her gloved hand back in pulled out the rest of the seeds.
The patch on her arm was getting itchy, but she refused to scratch it so her arm was doing slight invoulentary twitches. this is not an alergic reaction Olivia thought.
She dropped the 6 seeds into the calico bag provided.

Autumn placed her scalpal down on the table and held the pod in her left hand and inserted her right into the insision, she moved her fingers around going a bit deeper searchign for the touch of the seeds, she found one and pulled it out, It was a pretty shade of pink, she dug a little further and found another 3, all pink, she placed them in a pile on her workspace and checked for anymore seeds, she was farely certain there was none left.

Alright, now it was time for messy, ooey gooey business. Quite frankly, the only ooey gooey business Ellie wanted to get into was freshly baked cookies or brownies, but that obviously wasn't going to happen anytime soon. Sigh.
Once her scalpel was down, Ellie reached inside her red Puffapod. Her face pulled into a weird, slightly disgusted, slightly confused, and slightly curious look as she felt all the goo around her hand.

Ellie found a seed and pulled it out, setting it on her work space. Then she eventually found four more and set them next to each other on the table. Wow, this was... weird.

Harvesting Puffapod Seeds
1. Put on your protective gear.
2. Using the scalpel make an incision down the side of the pod, from top to bottom.
3. Insert your hand into the incision and remove the seeds from the membrane. (You should get around 4 or 5)
4. Collect the seeds into the bags provided, remove the remaining membrane from the plant by simply pulling it off the stem and place it in the compost heap.

Time to insert her hand. Hmm wonder what it's going to feel like she thought. Then she stuck her hand gently into the incision and felt around for the seeds. It was very slimy and cool. She pulled out her hand and had one seed. Placing it carefully down she put her hand back in and pulled two more seeds out this time slime came out along with it. It was gross to look at, but kind of cool as well. She put her hand back in and pulled out the last seed.

Harvey then picked up his scalpel and took a deep breath.. this was quite nerve-racking hoping that he did it correctly.. now he knew how those muggle surgeons felt when they were operating.. he touched his scalpel to the pod and got ready and then slowly but carefully he made an incision from top to bottom.. he watched as he could see the big cut that he had just created on the pod.. it was open slightly now.. he then put his scalpel down and crossed off this task on his list

Once all the seed were out Minerva tried to get all the slime off her gloves so it wouldn't get every where else. She wiped her gloves on her apron trying to be careful not to get any on her robes, but just as the paint she some how got the slime on her as well. She shrugged and looked at her parchment. The she picked up the bag she was to put the seeds into. She wondered if they would be breaking these seeds. Then she opened the bag and placed the seeds in one at a time trying to take some of the slime off as she went.
