Cardigan scavenged around for the perfect thing to practice Glacius on next. Should she use a stick?Should she use a leaf?Should she use a rock?She lazily stuck her hand in her pocket as she hunted around for the perfect item,inserting the Sickle back into her pocket.When her gloved hand emerged from the depths of her pocket,she was holding a Chocolate Frog card of Bertie Bott.Cardigan repeated it to herself before doing it once more on the card."Glacius,"she said as the ice encased the card.Sucess!Now all she had to do was wait for Professor Bentley's instructions.

Aside from a couple of minor mishaps, the students seemed to be getting a rather good handle on the charm. Hopefully there wouldn't be too many disasters to come. Seren was beginning to wonder whether or not the last activity was a good idea... she could always leave that for another day, even if it would be the most fun--in her opinion.

"Right well done class!" she said clapping her hands together. "Now come and get a flame resistant mole skin pouch and find your bush!"

Seren summoned a box that had been sitting away in the corner, and removed the lid. Flame resistant mole skin pouches for everyone. "Come and get 'em." She wasn't about to go around and hand them out, they were all capable of walking.

"Now remember you want to cool the seeds only, not the whole plant..." that was very vital. "Also make sure you don't FREEZE the seed, you only want to cool it down enough so you can pick it off with ease. You'll know that it's sufficiently cool enough when it changes from red to brown... do not under any circumstances freeze it entirely, that will only kill it."

But it was bound to happen at some point. "If you do happen to kill a seed, take a breather, refocus and try again... practice makes perfect! and the key to success is focus and concentration."

That was about enough talking now yes? Nobody wanted to listen to a crazy plant lady harp on about not killing her little babies.
"Right get to it! you need to collect six seeds, we don't want your bushes left bare."

"Once you've done that, put your pouch of seeds back into this box here and then we'll move on to the last activity. I promise you it'll be a beauty."

OOC: you have 24 hours to complete this task before we move on to the very last activity of the lesson. For this section you may post as many times as you like, BUT you need to post a minimum of 2 times! Have fun! and we won't eat you if you accidently kill a seed or two XD

She got a pouch and moved over to her bush,"Glacius." She said carefully as she pointed at the seeds and used the spell on a few to cool them off.

Beezus was too engrossed with practicing the charm when Professor Seren announced that they move on to the next activity. She let go of the leaf she was holding and pocketed her wand. Then she moved closer to where the Herbology Professor was in order to listen more carefully.

When the box of the resistant mole skin pouch landed, the eaglette walked over to where it was a got herself one. She was about to head to where her bush was when she suddenly got intrigued by the pouch's appearance. Facing their Professor, she asked, "Ermm..Professor Seren.." Blink. Blink. Gaaaah, her eyes were watering again. "Is this pouch made of Muggle mole skin or the moles in the Wizard world?" Her fever was making her curious. Maybe she should have it more often?

Minerva was finishing up practicing on her leaf when Professor Bentley called them to get a flame resistant mole skin pouch. Minerva walked up and took the pouch then headed to pick up Chuck her fireseed plant. Minerva put her gloves on so that she wouldn't get burned and picked up the plant. Once she had Chuck she went back to her work space. "I promise not to hurt you Chuck, I just need some seeds." Minerva took her wand and pointed at the first two seeds. ""Glacius" The seeds seem to freeze just enough. She picked them off the plant and placed them into the pouch.

Alyssa listened as the Professor gave instructions on what she needed to do next. Once the Professor was done and had given them permission to start, Alyssa went over to the box where the mole skin flame resistant pouches and picked up one, before she went looking for her Fireseed plant. She looked in the darkest corners of the greenhouse until she found the one labelled ALYSSA POTTER.

She picked it up and placed it on the nearest empty workspace. Alyssa unholstered her wand before putting on her dragonhide gloves again. Then she looked at her plant until she spotted one seed that she could easily get to. She first practiced the incantation again in her mind,'GLAY-see-us...GLAY-see-us..GLAY-see-us...'. Now she was ready.

Pointing her wand and aiming it at the seed, she concentrated on the freezing spell, and how cold and strong she wanted the air to be before saying,"GLAY-see-us". Icy air wafted out of her wand and hit the seed. Alyssa concentrated on the spell watching as the icy air enveloped the seed she was targetting. She watched closely and once the color of the seed changed from red to brown, she said, "Finite" ending the spell and with one gloved hand reached out and gently removed the seed from her plant. 'One down, Five to go,'Alyssa thought to herself and she placed the seed into the mole skin pouch. Now for the next.

Alyssa turned back to her plant and looked for another seed that she could retrieve. Once she found the second one, she closed her eyes and concentrated on the spell and what she wanted it to do. Then she pointed her wand and aimed it at the seed and said,"GLAY-see-us". Again icy cold air wafted from her wand and enveloped the seed.

Concentrating on the spell, Alyssa watched as the icy air started to chill the seed. Once the seed changed color from red to brown again, Alyssa pointed her wand away and ended the spell saying,"Finite". She retrieve the second seed from the plant, and placed it into her pouch.

It was time to get started! Amelia found it rather exciting because she had never done it before, but the more Bentley talked, the more unsure she was that she'd actually do a good job. She had never just cooled something down with that spell before, just frozen things. She didn't want to kill half the seeds on her firebush. There could only be room for one error.

Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, she tried to fill herself with self-confidence. She would do a good job on this task, and she wouldn't kill all of the seeds.

Opening her eyes again, she headed over to the box the Professor had gathered and grabbed a pouch. Now she needed to find her fireseed bush.

Very slowly and nonchalantly, Louisa turned to look at the freaking-out Bentley. Oh, look, she took points from her. Well that was... not good but Louisa merely blinked. "Oh. I'm so sorry professor. I must've misunderstood you earlier." She tucked her wand in, glanced at the poor Wasima? It seemed alive to her.

Cool.



Listening to Bentley giving instructions again, Louisa tried to focus this time as much as possible. If losing points was completely indifferent to her at the moment, it wasn't without consequences to her entire house, right? So she might as well shake this attitude off.

Moving on to the box that was summoned. The girl with blank expressions knelt down and grabbed one of those sacks before marching on to the fire seed bushes. The Ravenclaw knelt down before one and stared at it. She needed to wear her gloves and start cooling it down.

After listening to the professor once more, Violet got up and took a moleskin bag from the front of the classroom and found where her fireseed bush was. Okay Violet. Relax and concentrate and don't kill your plant., she said to herself. Violet calmly pointed her wand at the seeds and said clearly, "Glacius." A cold breeze wafted over a seed and Violet quickly placed her wand down to see the effects of her spell. She tapped it lightly with her finger and seeing that it was cool, she carefully twisted it to pluck it off the plant. Until as she made a grab for the moleskin, the fireseed was already becoming warmer...hot. Burning hot. Violet fiddled with it between her fingers and managed to throw it into the moleskin bag

Violet wiped sweat off her forward from her first attempt and checked her fingers to see if the seed caused any damages to them. Seeing that there was none except for a small cut from her fingernail, there was no big damage done. This harder work than she thought. She hoped that it wasn't going to be like this for every seed to pluck. She needed to collect at least 6 seeds for crying out loud!

Now that Amelia had the pouch, she placed it on her workstation that had the still-frozen leaves on it. Next, she changed to her dragonhide gloves so that her hands wouldn't get burned by the plant.

Now she just needed to actually find the fireseed bush. Strolling over to the plants, she scanned each pot until she found the one with her name on it. Carefully, she picked the pot up and headed back to her table before placing it in the centre.

GLAY-see-us...GLAY-see-us..GLAY-see-us... She kept repeating the spell to herself as she picked up her wand. She tried focusing on not freezing her seeds but cooling them instead.

Olivia practiced the spell again, this time on a peice of parchment from her bag. "Glacius", she said. She needed to try again because only half of the parchment froze, she waited a bit for it to thaw before practicing again. Even though the parchment would be wet, she could still freeze it. Once ready, Olivia aimed her wand and said "Glacius" a second time. The parchment froze correctly.

Leaving her seeds on her table, she followed Professor Bentley and the rest of the class to Greenhouse 2. Grinning at the Ivy, she raised an eybrow when Professor Bentley called it Wasima. Pretty name for an Ivy.

So... they were collecting Fire Seeds? Great! Now, for the charm. Professor Lafay'd made them do it last term, but it wouldn't hurt to get the incantation perfect.

"GLAY-see-us," she said, testing it out a little. "Glay-SEE-us." Not quite as nice... "Glay-see-US?"

The first one. Definitely the first one. "GLAY-see-us," she smiled. "Glacius."

Perfect.

After what she felt was the millionth time of going over the spell in her head, Amelia finally decided to try it for real.

She pointed her wand at one of the berries on her plant, and tried to focus really hard on not freezing it as she said, "GLAY-see-us." She watched as the cool air hit the berry and it changed from the red colour to a brown. She was succeeding.

Until...

It was getting out of her control, and now her berry was becoming semi-frozen. She quickly moved the icy air away from her poor plant and stopped the spell. Next time she needed to stop sooner and not let it go too far.

Sighing, she picked the poor half-dead berry off of her plant and placed it on her work station.

After putting the first two seeds into the pouch Minerva went back to Chuck her plant. "Ok there is two now lets get more." she pointed her wand at the next seed "Glacius" she must had held to long because the seed shriveled with the cold. "Oh no, Oh no.." she hurried and pulled the frozen seed off of Chuck. "I'm sorry I hope I didn't hurt you." Minerva put her wand down and decided to take a short breath to get her concentration back.

Only because we were supposes to cool the seeds, Olivia practiced one more time on another piece of parchment to cool it and not freeze it. Olivias head was spinning after she dissapointed her house like that, concentrate Olivia told herself. Glacius, she watched as the parchment became slightly frosty, It was cool and not frozen.

Now onto the seeds. First things first, she got a fireproof bag. She walked over to the bush she had already froze by accident earlier. Hello my little friend, the Slytherin told it. She held the bag underneath a seed, ok, just concentrate on the seed, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Then she opened her eyes and practiced the spell Glacius, a cool breeze came out of her wand and the seed turned a brownish color. She stopped before it became any colder. Gently knocking the seed off the bush with her wand. It wasnt made of poplar for nouthing! She did the same with two more seeds, trying her best to concentrate. She was doing good.

Alyssa got ready to retrieve her next 4 seeds. She examined her Fireseed plant until she found the next two growing close to each other. Alyssa decided that she would try to get both of them at the same time. Concentrating on the incantation again, and the amount of air and how cold she wanted it to be, Alyssa pointed her wand at the seeds and said “GLAY-see-us”.

Icy cold air immediately wafted out of her wand and enveloped the seeds. Alyssa continued to concentrate on targeting the seeds and when she saw them start to change color from red to brown, she ended the freezing spell by saying “Finite”. Alyssa then reached in to retrieve the seeds, slowly removing it from her plant and placed them in her pouch.

“Two more to go.”Alyssa told herself hoping that she was going to be able to retrieve all the seeds without any mishaps.

Minerva took a deep breath and went back to her plant. "Ok Chuck I will try not to do that again." she pointed her wand at two seeds close together. "Glacius" Once the seeds were frozen just enough Minerva picked them off the plant and placed them in the pouch. She sighed with relief that didn't do the wrong thing again.

The failed first attempt made Amelia even more determined. You're a Seventh Year, you can cool a few berries. She needed this pep talk to herself, because she knew that she was good at casting charms, she needed to not act stupid about this because she had a semi-frozen berry on her table.

Pointing her wand at another seed, she said, "GLAY-see-us." This time when the seed went from red to brown she pulled the spell off immediately. And she had a cooled berry. With a satisfied smile, she carefully pulled the berry off of the bush.

Then she continued the process until she had a total of six berries collected and stored away.

Messer stopped trying the Freezing Charm on the leaf as soon as the Herbology Professor said to move on to the fireseed. She said not to freeze the plant but just cool it down. Okay, he was not so sure about that. When he was practicing the charm earlier it froze the leaf litter not cool it down. He hoped when he use the Freezing charm on his bush it'll cool it down not freeze it.

First he need the pouch. Messer made his way toward the box where Professor Bentley put the flame resistant mole skin pouches. He picked up one and then move on to find his bush.

Now that she had 4 seeds, all Alyssa needed to do was to find another 2 more seeds, as instructed by the Professor. She spotted more seeds growing further inside her Fireseed plant. “Whew…now that’s going to be hard to get to, but I think that I can get it,” she told herself.

So concentrating again on the spell and what she wanted to do, Alyssa picked up her wand and using one gloved hand to move aside some of it’s branches so that she had better view of the seed she wanted to retrieve, Alyssa said the freezing spell, “GLAY-see-us”.

Immediately a waft of cold air emanated from her wand and engulfed the seed she was targeting. Concentrating on the spell, Alyssa kept watch on the seed to make sure that she didn’t overdo it and end up over freezing it. The moment the seed started changing color from red to brown, Alyssa said “Finite” to end the spell and reached in to retrieve the seed. She extracted the seed from the plant and examined it to make sure that she had not overdone it this time. The color of the seed remained red. “Good. Now all I need to do is retrieve one more seed and then we’re done.” Alyssa told herself as she placed her fifth seed into her pouch.

Flame resisted mole skin? O... Okay. She nodded slowly... and walked over to the little box that Bentley had in her hands she took the pouch and examined it.... In a weird way... was it like a baby.... But NO! She wandered back to the place she was standing! Then she walked over to fire seed plant! Examined it, vaguely and retrieved her wand from her cloak ''GLAY-see-us... GLAY-see-us! Glacius,'' It seemed the practice bit was pretty much covered by now!

“One more to go, Alyssa. You can do this.” Alyssa whispered to herself. She decided to try for another one of those seeds that was growing near the one she had just retrieved. Concentrating on the spell again, Alyssa gently moved aside the branches and aiming her wand at the seed, said the freezing spell. “GLAY-see-us.”

Without warning a huge amount of icy cold air blew out from her wand and engulfed the seed that she was aiming at. “Finite….Finite....Finite” Alyssa called out ending the spell and hoping that she had acted fast enough to save the seed. But to her dismay when she retrieved the seed, it had turned a very dark shade of brown. “I’m so sorry little one. It’s my fault that you will not get a chance to bloom.” Alyssa whispered to the dead seed. She sighed in disappointment and put the seed in her pocket. She would give it a decent burial later.

Alyssa decided that she needed to take a break and try to compose herself. Killing a seed made her very sad, but she knew that she needed to get herself together and gain back her confidence before attempting to retrieve the last seed.

Messer went to where they kept the bush, his eyes went to each pots until he spotted a pot with his name on it. He carefully picked the pot up and went back to his work station. Messer placed the bush on his work station. Now he need to collect 6 seeds from it.

He already wore his dragonhide glove so now he need to find the seeds. He easily located his first seed. The young badger grabbed his wand and pointed his wand to his first seed "GLAY-see-us!" he said clearly. But nothing happen. No cold air burst out from the tip of his wand. When he was trying for the second time, it worked but the Freezing charm only last for a few seconds. Maybe he's not calm enough. Once again he pointed his wand to the seed "GLAY-see-us!" cold air burst out from the tip of his wand toward the seed, it didn't froze. The seed slowly changed its color from red to brown. Yay!

Carefully he pulled the seed off of the bush and placed it into his pouch.

Alyssa walked around for awhile to gather her thoughts and to calm her nerves. She had been feeling confident retrieving her seeds until her last attempt where she messed up and over froze the seed she was trying to retrieve, killing it. Even though Alyssa knew that killing the seed was unintentional, it still affected her badly. So she talked to herself as she walked, trying to boost up her confidence again.

After a couple of minutes, Alyssa decided that she was ready to collect her last seed. She walked back to her Fireseed plant and examined it looking for another seed that she could freeze. She found one growing from one of the front branches of the plant. But Alyssa knew that although it would be easy to get to, if she didn’t control her spell, she would kill this one too.

So she closed her eyes, and concentrated on what she wanted to do. She concentrated on how much cold air she wanted to come out of her wand and how cold the air should be. Then she opened her eyes, rolled her shoulders and tried to relax herself before she picked up her wand and aimed it at the seed. Concentrating on the spell, Alyssa said the freezing spell,”GLAY-see-us”. Icy cold air immediately emanated from her wand but it streamed out slowly like she how she wanted it to. Alyssa continued to concentrate on the spell until she saw the seed turn from red to brown. She quickly ended the spell by saying,”Finite". She then holstered her wand and reached in to gently remove the seed from her plant.

She was glad to see that the color of the seed remained brown like the others had. She quickly placed it into her mole skin purse to join the other five seeds that she had already collected. Then she turned to her Fireseed plant and whispered to it,”Thank you for giving me those seeds. I hope that what I did wasn’t too traumatic for you. You can rest now.” She patted its leaves before laying the pot back on the ground in the dark.

This definitely was her bush, right? Well the tag said it was, no reason for it to be manipulated. Louisa knelt closer toward the bush and the seeds. They were pretty flaming orange. Or was it red? Either way, she thought the seeds were fascinating.

And would make a perfect honest mistake if they were thrown at a certain boy with a certain accent. Maybe when his pretty face won't be as pretty and would keep his hormones at bay? That sounded a very brilliant and awfully dangerous plan.

Shaking her head slightly, the girl took her wand out and pointed it at one seed. "Glaicus." A cool breeze erupted from her wand and the seed started to shiver veeery slowly and its color started to change. Louisa watched in awe as the orange went into deep red, then burgundy and lastly it was very close to brown. Quickly, she moved her wand away and the charm was over. With both of her gloved hands, she picked that seed off and tossed it into the sack.

The second seed took a bit longer to cool off and change color but Louisa managed to be patient with it and the one following as well! Her mind was taken off the evil thoughts that took over her ever since she opened her eyes to the day.

Working with fire. That was a bit ironic, actually. Heh.
