Entering the common room through a still life painting near the kitchens, you will find the spacious room known as your House Common Room. Welcome! Your common room is your sanctuary. During your seven years here, your house will be like your family. The large room is designed around the fireplace, which sits in the very middle, and will more than likely be your favorite place on cold winter nights.
Flanking off and into the rest of the room, the room is furnished with plush armchairs, generally in clusters of two or four. There are also comfortable large couches that might swallow you up, if you're not careful. The wall decor is, of course, Hufflepuff house colors. There are also yellow and black hangings around the room.
A large solid wood table is set up to the far side of the room, the perfect place to study, and should you find yourself in need of inspiration, portraits of memorable Hufflepuffs such as Nymphadora Tonks, Cedric Diggory, and even Zacharias Smith, flying on his broomstick, line the walls around you.
Opposite, you will find two underground tunnels, each going a different way, to the right the tunnel will lead you to the boy's dorms, and to the left, the girl's dorms.
And... she was being talked to by... someone in the younger years. Yes. One of the younger years.
Kita smiled at the young girl. Firstie? So she was right about the girl being in one of the younger years. But Merlin, they had manners! "Nice to meet you Jesifur," she said, shaking the girl's hand, "I'm Kita, Kita Lewis, seventh year." Please, Merlin, don't let the girl be scared of her!
Now... about the dorm rooms. Kita looked around towards one of the underground tunnels. "You see that tunnel over there?" she asked, pointing at the tunnel on the left, "That's the girls ones. Just go along and find the door that says 'first years' and that'll be your dorm."
Jesifur looked to where Kita pointed and then back at the girl. Letting out a huge sigh she stood up.
"Thank you kindly, It was nice to meet you and I do hope to talk to you again soon Kita. I'm just ever so sleepy now and I want to get some things unpacked before I turn in."
Jesifur turned and walked off in the direction pointed out.
"It was cool, just like this. The teachers were nice and laid back. I loved the grounds because it was the actual grounds of the original witch trials. Have you been there before?"
"Hi Justin, it's nice to meet you. Amethyst I didn't know that you were from the States too. Which part? I'm from California," Alyssa told both of them.
Aaron gave her the thumbs up, he'd always wanted to go to Salem, but his parents being Muggles meant that they couldn't care less about what happened in Salem. 'That sounds great, he admitted before shaking his head. 'I've never been, but if it's as great as you say... I HAVE TO GO!'
To further show how much he'd like to go there he jumped up and down excitedly when ending his sentence.

Wait... she was standing up? Was she going to go? Had Kita scared Jesifur?
Oh. Tired. Sleep. School tomorrow. Made sense.
Kita smiled at the girl. "You're welcome," she said, "Goodnight! Hope you enjoy Hogwarts!" Her gaze turned from the girl to the fire. She should be getting to sleep and unpacking herself. Who knows, she could just oversleep and be late to lessons tomorrow. Again.

Perhaps it was that her mind was on classes, this being her last year and how much she was missing Nik that Mia seemed to be losing things or more correctly that she couldn't remember where she had left things. One of those things being her Puffeskin.
He was so small and she was rather worried that someone might step on him or claim him for their own. She had searched her dormitory but to no avail, so Mia made her way back into the common room and scanned the room for a moment before making her way over to a girl sitting by the fire.
"Excuse me. You haven't by chance seen a Puffeskin wandering around have you?" She moved around to stand in fron of the girl. "Oh hey Kita!" Mia hadn't really talked to her fellow seventh year before but she knew who she was.

Seeing all her Hufflepuffs chatting and getting to know one another made Hadley swell with pride and slight envy because she had never been into that during her own school days. Several more badgers, but still no Treyen, Arya, or Isobel.
Oh and someone had noticed her.

She tried to figure out what the Head of house was doing the common room. They didn't usually come to the common room unless they had good reason too. Looking at the doorway, she still didn't see any prefects and she wondered what was taking them so long.
"Evening Miss Dixon. Welcome back," Fina greeted politely. So much for invincibility until she was ready. "My holiday was quite splendid. Thank you."
No prefects still. Ah well, she'd start without them, she supposed.
....
Stepping forward from the wall, she clapped her hands together in front of her. Clearing her throat to grasp their attention, she began. "Greetings! Pardon me as I take a few moments of your time...To those of you who have just been sorted, welcome to Hufflepuff. To those who are returning, welcome back. Faven walked back into the common room, having deposited her belongings in her dormitory room. She noticed a glamorous, official looking adult at the front of the room who appeared to be addressing the room. Head of House....that was a good person to get on good terms with. Did that mean that she was the caretaker of the Hufflepuffs? Faven really hoped that Arithmancy didn't have to do with math...that was her worst subject and she didn't want her Head of House to be disspointed in her for poor grades in her class. Gathering her nerves, Faven walked up to Professor Hadley. "Hello ma'am, my name is Faven Dragomir, I'm a first year," she said politely.
Nessie grinned. Hmmm Beauxbatons. Yes she had heard of it before. If she wasn't mistaken her mom went there for a few years of schooling before she ahd gone to Hogwarts. "Yeah alot of people have moved from there to here." she said sort of stating the obvious, but it was true. Most tranfers did come from Beauxbatons.
"So you happy to be in Hufflepuff?" she asked. It was a stupid question. Who wouldn't have been happy to be in Hufflepuff the house of the best people ever.
A lot of people? "Oh, really?" When Daphne was studying back in France, she'd heard of a couple of students who had moved to Hogwarts but not a lot of people..maybe, she didn't know those students.
"Yeah. Of course, I am." Daphne said, with a grin. She felt definitely excited about the fact that she was sorted in Hufflepuff.

Um. Honestly, Daphne didn't know what to say. She wasn't really good at comforting people. "Hi Ronnie. I'm Daphne." So..maybe, that was a little lame. She cleared her throat and continued, "Do you want to tell to me what's bothering you?" She asked the younger girl with a small smile. "Only if you want to talk about it, of course."

"Good evening Prof. Hadley. I'm Justin. Pleased to meet you . " said Justin as he introducued himself with a slight bow. Justin wanted the teacher to know that he was respectful and had proper manners. After all , if his mum were here that is how she would expect him greet his elders.
Rose walked around the common room and was taking in everything. Everybody seemed so nice and welcoming. Rose really hoped that somebody would make the first move and introduce themselves. She really hated that she was so shy especially since once she warmed up to people she would be the exact opposite. If only she could be brave from the start.

Minerva was looking around and saw a girl alone looking around. The chair beside Minerva was empty so she decided to see if she wanted to sit. "Hello, My name is Minerva would you like to sit for awhile?"

Minerva just introduced herself to this new girl when a boy came over to her as well. So Minerva thought the more the better on her new friends list. So she looked at him and said "Hello, My name is Minerva. I just asked her if she would like to sit for awhile. Would you like to sit as well?"

Adanna had dazed off again, but was brought back by a sudden jump from Toffee. She hadn't heard anything that might alarm him, but she looked to see anyway. Ah! A woman was standing there, speaking to the students in the room. Adanna listened as she did so. Head of House.. Professer Hadley.. Arithmancy teacher.. Alright then!
She arose from her chair and approached the professer. "Good evening." She said with a small curtsey. Wouldn't hurt, right? "I'm Adanna Patching. First year. I'm afraid I have no knowledge of arithmancy or what it is, but I'm looking forward to learning!"
"Why am I always late?" Elodie murmured to herself as she hurried down the corrider and arrived outside the Hufflepuff common room. As much as she had enjoyed talking to new people at the feast, she now wished she hadn't been one of the last to leave the hall. Repeating the password one of the prefects had told her and hoping her late entrance wouldn't be too conspicuous, she stepped inside..
..and immediately wished she could turn round and step right back out again. She had almost collided with someone much taller than her, someone who had been addressing the whole room when Elodie had entered and now she felt as if everyone was staring at her. Panicking, she attempted to edge away and into the closest seat quickly and quietly to avoid drawing futher attention to herself, but instead proceeded to stumble over the hem of her robes and toppled headfirst into an armchair. "Well," she thought to herself as her face burned a fierce scarlet. "at least I made a memorable entrance. Now if I can just find the dormitories, I think I'll go and bury my head in a pillow and emerge in a few weeks when everyone's forgotten about this."

Aaron roared with laughter as he saw a first year rush into the common room and just a few seconds later topple headfirst into an armchair. He made his way over, almost tripping over his robes himself, laughing to hard to walk straight. When he had reached the chair he stretched out his hand, trying hard to stop laughing, being a first year was terrifying enough. 'Great fall you made,' he chuckled, 'I suppose it's a good thing those chairs are so soft huh?'
He remembered falling over quite a few times himself as a first year and a grin spread across his face. 'I'm Aaron Roberts, almost as good as falling headfirst into armchairs as you are.'

Elodie was mortified. "Oh my god. That's it. Reputation as a clumsy, stupid little first year gained after just a few hours at Hogwarts. Fabulous." she thought to herself. Struggling to regain some dignity, she clambered out of the chair (not an easy feat- he was right, the chairs were ridiculously squishy) and tried to brush off her humiliation. "I'm Elodie Niamh Valente," she said, then fearing her introduction was a tad too formal, added with a grin "I'm a first year, though you may have already guessed that. How about you?"

Mickey barked out laughing, she threw her head back and she couldn't breathe. This guy years older than her, was jumping around like her neice when she found out she was giong to Disney World. Her neice is five. "Yeah Salem's great," She said through her giggles. "The best part is you don't even need to dress like a muggle to go and they won't even look at you twice. If you live in the city you could go home and have lunch there when my great grandmother went to school."
"Hi Nessie, thanks for the welcome. I was starting to feel a little lost but now that you're here, I'm feeling lots better," Alyssa told Nessie. Alyssa was definitely feeling lots better now that Nessie had come to welcome her. She was glad that there were people like Nessie who were always ready to step forward and help out the newbies like her.
Ness smiled glad Alyssa was already starting to get used to everything. She remembered it took her a long, long time to find her way around Hogwarts but at the end she still did. "You'll get used to everything soon" she told Alyssa.
She looked at the door once more but she still hadn't seen her sister yet. What if her sister was lost or something. Nessie really worried now. Where was she?

"It's great to hear you enjoyed your holiday Professor." said Nessie smiling. She couldn't wait for Arithmancy classes to start. It may have not been the easiest subject but it was very interesting and she liked a challenge.
As Professor Hadley started talking Ness headed back to the arm chair and took a seat. She could barely stand anymore her legs were starting to hurt she was just too tired and so she needed to sit. She listened carefully to what the Professor had to say.
OMG! Professor Hadley was going to be their new head of house. This made Nessie very happy. She smiled widely as she knew for sure Professor Hadley was going to be an amazing Head of House. She was already an awsome teacher and she was a true Hufflepuff. Ness wouldn't have to hesitate at all if she had a problem that she needed help with. She trusted Professor Hadley.
"Congratulations on Head of House Professor" she said as got up draging her feet a little. "You deserve it"

"Yeah" Nessie nodded, hadn't Daphne noticed. She ahd already met about four and she saw a lot of new faces that didn't look like first years.
"Hufflepuff is awsome" she said giving Daphne a thumbs up. "You signing up for the quidditch team?" Ness asked. She knew she was. She was thinking of signing up as a beater, she didn't tell anyone incase they'd laugh because she did look more delicate then tough, but she needed to do something different and also she felt it would help with her anger issues. "Well then I guess I'd better make the most of having someone to witness my epic failings for the next two years! Maybe by the time you leave, I will have gained some sense of balance.."
She looked around the room, eyeing the badger-adorned walls and cosy-looking fireplace. "It's really quite nice in here, isn't it? I've gotta admit, I was er.. less than enthusiastic about being sorted in Hufflepuff at first but I'm definitely warming to it." She grinned. "I guess you could say I'm beginning to find my inner Hufflepuff."

He held his hand out and flashed them a smile. 'You DO look new. I am the one and only Aaron Roberts.'
Daphne raised an eyebrow. "One and only? That's...um..interesting." She had no idea what to say..
"Well, I'm Daphne Green. It's nice to meet you, Aaron." The girl extended a hand.
