The first floor was... certainly busier in a different way than Professor Schirmer's own usual haunt of the third level. Less injured children she supposed, and more Dash. She wondered if the professors of the first floor were more social as a result and made up her mind to befriend the healer. Third floor solidarity.
The classroom she'd chosen for the defense lesson had been one of her favourites as a student, and the tall blonde woman was a little bit dismayed to see how dusty and unused it was. Really, Hogwarts was it so hard to keep yourself clean? Even with elves that were off doing goodness knew what? A few quick charms and minutes later the room was sparkling.
Literally.
Unlike most of the Defense rooms, this one featured bright windows that allowed the light to stream in, diffused with colours and generally giving the room a bright and happy feel. The view looked out over the lake. There were no desks or chairs in the room and even the professor took a seat on the ground, waiting there with her feet tucked up comfortably beneath her for the students to arrive. She had a stack of books next to her and looked serene, if a bit distant.
When it was time, she charmed the doors to open, and greeted the students as they begin to file in.
ooc: the lesson will begin approximately 7.5 hours from the time of this post I'm simply opening it now so you can post arriving if you want to. The lesson has begun! Please act as if you were here all along if you haven't yet posted, latecomers will likely lose points. Please remember to follow Professor Schirmer's rules which can be found here.
SPOILER!!: the room looks something like this

In addition the room is now decorated for a party. Balloons and streamers are everywhere, there are tables set up with food and drink, and music playing to add to the festive feel.
Questions: What do you know, or think you know, about the Patronus Charm?
Discuss amongst yourselves some famous witches and wizards and their known Patronus forms. Given what we know about them; their achievements, their experiences, what do you think their Patronus form indicates about their personalities?
For those of you who can cast a Corporeal Patronus and know what form it takes, see if you can match up how it fits your personality. Younger students, you can work with students who do have a known Spirit Guardian, or you can look up mine, which is a Dove, or Headmaster Tate's which is a Mountain Goat, or that of another adult you know, even some of the historical figures we were discussing.
"I want you to think of your happiest memory. Something strong enough that you can focus on it easily, maybe something that makes you smile. It doesn't have to be relating to love. If you have more than one, lucky you! You can experiment to see which is best. You don't have to share it if you don't want to, but feel free to put your hand up and share if you do.
----------------------------------
Levitation party activity! Click here for instructions. Read the post carefully and please take note of your classmates posts following this one too. Worth ten points!
edit: Activity still running, only please focus on the third part, AKA testing out your happy memory with a levitation potion.
The party is still going, you can help yourself to food or drink while we wait for a guest fetched via a patronus message. In the meantime the professor wants to know who can cast a patronus already and whether its corporeal or non-corporeal.
PLEASE be realistic with your character's abilities. The patronus charm is ADVANCED magic and little firsties should NOT be able to manage it. For the purposes of this class please pay attention to the following:
6th & 7th years: May be able to cast a corporeal or non-corporeal patronus, depending on character's skill level and experience. May learn how to do one or the other during the lesson.
5th years: May be able to cast non-corporeal patronus, depending on character's skill level and experience, very FEW and RARELY may a 5th year manage a corporeal patronus. May learn how to do one or the other during the lesson.
4th years: Depending on character's skill level and experience, very FEW and RARELY may a 4th year manage a non-corporeal patronus. May learn a non-corporeal patronus during the lesson.
3rd years: Depending on character's skill level and experience, may learn a non-corporeal patronus during the lesson. But its okay for them NOT to learn how yet too.
1st & 2nd years: Depending on character's skill level and experience, may learn an UNSTABLE non-corporeal patronus during the lesson. This means they might manage a slight whisp, but otherwise should NOT be able to cast a patronus. Its okay for them NOT to learn how yet too.
When we get to the spell casting aspect of the lesson, please note that anyone not being realistic may have their post edited or deleted, which I don't WANT to do but we're not all Harry Potter! For reference, Althea learned hers in 6th year non-corporeally, and managed a corporeal patronus in 7th year. Remember, just because your character might not be able to do it yet, it doesn't mean they never will!
As you saw, Professor Scabior came because I sent him a Patronus message. What do you think are the benefits of communicating via Patronus?
"Alright are you all ready to give it a go? Stand up if you are and make sure you give each other a bit of space. Wands out. The incantation is Expecto Patronum. Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num. You simply need to point your wand and focus really hard on that strong happy memory. Practice the incantation a few times to get the hang of it and then you may start. Those of you who can already manage it, please do encourage the younger ones and let them see how you do it. I have an activity for you too, that we'll start in a little while!"
Please note, I'm waiting to get an all clear regarding the recent Malware threat on SS before continuing, not because of any risk, rather because several people may be staying away right now and I'd rather be sure nobody is left at a disadvantage because they don't feel safe accessing the site. Expect that the lesson will continue on sunday. Everything is all clear Sorry for any trouble.
The latest instructions can be found in this post.

She'd be happy with a non-corporeal right now, even though she was going to try her hardest to accomplish the other.
She'd raised her hand as another question was asked, as well. "One can send their message without interrupting anything else they're doing, as well. It's not exatcly a good idea to have to stop to send an owl, or a Floo message, if you're in the middle of a fight or something like that, and a Patronus is harder to intercept as well," she stated, glancing at Lexi. The last part had been kind of similar to the Gryffindor's answer, but she liked to think it was a bit more explanatory. Maybe that was the Ravenclaw in her.
"Right."

She looked at her little first year lion and flashed her a small smile. Getting kicked out of a lesson could be quite the shock...as was losing 20 points from your house in the span of a few minutes.
Kurumi's attention went back to the front when class moved along. Hmm...why send a patronus to deliver a message? Her guess was as good as anyone else's really. The principles behind one were still a little foggy to her. Still, she raised her hand to give it a go.
"Perhaps, one would chose to send a patronus to deliver a message because it cannot be interrupted? A patronus is also highly resilient to interference from Dark wizards and isn't affected by physical barriers for example. Also, um...along that same line of thought...with owls, someone could always catch it and read the message before it arrived at its intended destination, but with a patronus you cannot do this? "" Now, whether or not you could catch a patronus was something the fourth year did not know. She imagined it would be like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands. "It also seems like it would be much faster than any other form of communication. Owls could get lost or take days to deliver a message depending on how far away the receiver was, but a patronus is almost instantaneous." It hadn't taken very long for Professor Scary Face to arrive, unfortunately.
She thought a bit more, since her ideas were somewhat synonymous with Lexi and Stella's. So, one more thought on the matter it was. "Each patronus is distinct, you cannot conjure another person's patronus, so there is no danger of a false message being given." Unless your patronus changed and no one was informed of it and they therefore thought that the patronus that had delivered the message as a fake when it really wasn't. But that was her mind spinning off into orbit.
"Yes those are all right." Good thinking as usual.

Then Raven tried to answer the question.
"I think deliver the message through patronus were safer than owl. Also, the risk off the undelivered message is smaller and It can reached the place who was can't reach by owl."
She just guest it. Communicating via patronus was fun rather than a howler.
"That's right in comparison to using an owl."

"Right." She smiled in agreement.

So what were the benefit in communicating via Patronus??? There were quite a lot actually. His father did tell him the pros to be able to cast a patronus charm. Jonathan raised his hand to answer the question "Well for one, it's faster than an owl" he said. It's true. Cast a patronus charm to deliver a message is so much faster than a flying owl. "Also another benefit would be the fact that you would really know who is giving the message."Now Jonathan can't wait to actually have a corporeal patronus.
"Both right."

He considered the question. "Well, I suppose it's similar to the benefits of an owl, Professor. Owls can find the recipient even when you have no clue where they may be. I expect Patronuses work similarly, unless you were sure of Professor Scabior's exact location at the particular time."
"I wasn't sure of where he was, but I had a general idea." She glanced at Dash. "Either way you're right that the Patronus can find its intended recipient without the sender knowing their location."

See...Victoria had been ignorant of that fact until now. But using her best logical sense, Victoria hoped that her given answer would be correct. "Well...certaining a Patronus would be a more stable way of transportating mails. Owls...see owls may run into some sort of an accident, like hitting into a tree or hitting into a glass or window. If someone was trying to stop a mail from getting through, I suppose that an owl would be an easy target. But it's hard to target a Patronus, wouldn't it?"
"Definitely hard to target a Patronus."

Erin raised her hand upon hearing Professor Schirmer's question, "Professor, looking from what you have done, your Patronus relayed the message to Professor Scabior and he came here right away. Also, even without the actual message, for example a friend or someone who knew your Patronus would know the person who's sending it."
"Yes that's right, not just from being familiar with the Patronus form," Since Dash likely hadn't known hers was a Dove, "But with the voice of the sender." That he DID know, but probably far less politely and kindly than her Patronus would have delivered its message.

What are the benefits of communicating via Patronus? Well, apparently it summoned hot professors into the room. Heh. But, no. She'd come up with something a little less...detention-worthy. She raised her hand. "It's a good way to call for help or let others know there's a danger," she said. "Some situations just don't lend themselves to finding parchment, a quill, and an owl, and taking the time to write out a full message." Oh, and... "With a patronus, you can identify the caster, only..." She looked thoughtful for a moment then added, "...what happens if a person's been captured, and their kidnapper forces them to cast a patronus to summon others to danger?"
"Well the great thing about it is that you need to be able to focus to cast it, so if that was the situation, likely calling on a happy memory wouldn't be easy."

The only thing with patronuses was.... "You'd just have to be ready to write the message down since they're verbal and only play like, one time." Yup.
"That's right, you'll have to remember it or record it somehow."

Still, he raised his hand and said, "The benefits of communicating via Patronus is that it's the quickest way to communicate be it for a simple or emergency situation." He could think of few. "Like to remind your mom that there's no milk at home or to warn some one that there's a dark wizard at large." Things like that. "A Patronus is also a way to communicate without looking so suspicious," he said. Like for an undercover spy who didn't want to give away his identity.
"Milk is an emergency?" The Dark wizard part made far more sense. She hid a smile. "Right you are though."

"It's possible, professor." She raised her hand after listening to other responses and finishing off her marshmallow sandwich. "That an early benefit of communicating via patronus is that it can help strengthen your casting ability. Casting a corporeal consistently at our age is hard enough without having to tack on a message. Sending messages via patronus is a fun way to help strengthen that skill, and maybe even make you better able to cast a corporeal when it's most needed. When your life depends on that patronus." Arya had paused in nomming her food to consider her response as it was given and a for a moment after. Probably wasn't in line of what the professor was expecting from them, but it was the first thing to pop into her mind when the question was poised.
The prefect went back to the food on her plate when she was finished, ears picking up on all the other responses while she ate.
"Absolutely. Helps with skill at focusing and that is why we're doing it today, even though some students won't manage it at all, its good practice to try."

So the message is sent faster. Plus a patronus is harder to intercept and of course one can't torture it to get the message since it's not alive. The Patronus knows to whom the message is intended for and won't reveal it to anyone else. An owl can be caught and the message can be taken from it." Alyssa hoped that she made sense and she did check to make sure that she wasn't repeating someone else's answer.
After she had given her answer, Alyssa slowly slid over closer to Arya, her House Prefect, because she said that she knew how to make a Patronus. Who else better to learn then from her fellow housemate.
Since they weren't supposed to be talking, Alyssa tugged on Arya's hand and pointed to herself and then to her, then nodded with a questioning gesture on her face to indicate that she would like to join her and whether it was okay.

Minerva didn't know anything about this spell so she was curious.
"They couldn't stop it no. Some suspect that death of the sender might stop a Patronus before it is sent, but it isn't something which has had studies done, for obvious reasons. Though the trouble in that situation is being able to cast the Patronus in the first place, having the focus and ability to call on strong happy memories in a moment where you are at risk."

So she asked,"Professor is there a specific distance that one can send a patronus? How far can one's patronus go? It looks like one doesn't need to keep eye contact with it, but does that mean that the Patronus may be able to travel to the other side of the world, if the message receipient happens to be there or does the strength of the Patronus wane over distance and time?" Alyssa hoped that she wasn't asking a stupid question.
"Like any magic, the further it is, the harder it is to maintain. It definitely wanes over distance and time."

Sending a Patronus is easier if that person is fairly close to your location and you don't want or aren't able to walk there. Finding a parchment, quill, ink, and an owl to send it with is more tedious for sending a message only a short distance; it'd almost be better to just walk there yourself and talk to the person than go to all that trouble. A Patronus just needs a wand, which most people carry with them, so it doesn't take up as much of your time."
"That's all true."
----------------
So they seemed to be aware of the benefits then.
She decided to save the next question she'd intended to ask as homework, to keep it simple.
"Alright are you all ready to give it a go? Stand up if you are and make sure you give each other a bit of space. Wands out. The incantation is Expecto Patronum. Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num." OOC: NOW you can start trying to cast the spell. See the information in the FIRST POST of this thread regarding what your character should and should not be capable of. I don't want to see any firsties managing to cast a perfect patronus. Have your character work at it guys!
We'll resume in 24 hours. This first attempt is worth up to five points, I'd like to see some effort in your posts! Remember, I will edit or delete a post where I think you're being unreasonable about your character's skill. While its not something I'd normally do, the nature of the spell means that there SHOULD be difficulty and its okay not to master it! The point is to try. Again: read the first post of the thread.

"Miss Parker, I'm done with your misbehaviour in my presence." She had been one of the students late to the first charms class of the year too. "Ten points from you for continuing to misbehave and disobey the rules."
"Politely." Althea warned. It didn't help to start yelling.
"Miss Parker, that is enough. This is the third time you have blatantly disregarded the rules I have set for your learning environment. An additional ten points from you and you'll leave the classroom immediately and inform your head of house why you have lost yet more points for misconduct."
"Too late for that." Professor Schirmer eyed the girl, waiting for her to leave.
----------------------
She let out a breath.
"Today's man activity will involve attempting the patronus charm -when I instruct it. A reminder for those of you who haven't been paying attention, if you even try to cast the spell without permission you will lose points." Would there ever be a nice lesson where she wouldn't have to take so much in the way of points?
"If you don't know how to cast a Patronus or haven't managed one yet, move nearer someone who can. It doesn't matter if they can do a corporeal patronus or not themselves, I just find it is easier to be inspired to work hard and focus on your own when you can see one in action!" Patronus stuff was exciting right?
"And I have an activity for those of you who can cast a corporeal patronus too." She waggled one finger at the students and her eyes twinkled.
"As you saw, Professor Scabior came because I sent him a Patronus message. What do you think are the benefits of communicating via Patronus?"
ooc: remember, no casting yet! We'll start that from my next post In the meantime, the question is worth points, so give it a go with answering!
Ariana couldnt believe it because of her Gryffindor had lost points which she REALLY could care less about but then she got her best friend kick out of class! She knew how much Josie loved DaDa Ariana felt a pit in her stomach as she watched her best friend leave the room
---------
Now the time Ariana had been waiting for.. time to cast the Patronus charm! She raised her wand and focused on her happy memory, the feeling of her wand, the smell in the shop, the flick, the Snow & the shopkeeper's reaction. the happiest moment in her liffe. & then "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num" Ariana Said. Pronouncing it as clear as possible. Nothing happened. not even a shimmer of anything.. She tried one more time this time she wont over enunciate things "Expecto Patronum!" she felt a warm feeling inside but still nothing from her wand. Ariana waited to see if she could watch a 7th year produce a patronus.. or anything for that matter.

William looked at the older HufflePuff who will be helping him. William pointed his wand at the air. He said "Expecto Patronus" but nothing happened. William tries a second time, points his wand in the air again. He calls out "Expecto Patronus and still nothing is happening. William looks at the HufflePuff older student for help on this spell. Oh Willaim must say it slowly for ahle like the professor told him. Here goes nothng. "Ex- pecto Pa-tron-is" William tried it. Agan "Ex- Pec- to Pa- Tro- Nus" Willaim raised his hand. " This is really hard for second years but am I slowing down the spell right?" William asked her.

She decided to save the next question she'd intended to ask as homework, to keep it simple.
"Alright are you all ready to give it a go? Stand up if you are and make sure you give each other a bit of space. Wands out. The incantation is Expecto Patronum. Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num." She enunciated clearly. "You simply need to point your wand and focus really hard on that strong happy memory. Practice the incantation a few times to get the hang of it and then you may start. Those of you who can already manage it, please do encourage the younger ones and let them see how you do it. I have an activity for you too, that we'll start in a little while!"
Maxwell felt nervous. He wasn't sure anything would even happen considering he just saw Ariana fail twice. He raised his wand. "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num" he said and waited but nothing happened...maybe he wasn't focusing hard enough. He thought about being in the tree house with all of his friends, being there with Josie...but then thoughts of his father came into his head...too many questions accompanied it. He tried again and failed. He thought to try one more time. "Expecto Patronum." He said closing his eyes, he opened them slowly and noticed a small whisp of of silver light, in the shape of a ball, no bigger than a pea. Maxwell felt proud it must be a strong memory he thought. he knew he wasn't a powerful wizard at all but he was proud none the less.

OOC: NOW you can start trying to cast the spell.
Alyssa moved a couple of spaces away from Arya to give her more room to produce her patronus. She took out her wand but remained sitting and observed Arya to see what she would do next. Alyssa first tried pronouncing the words to the Patronus charm. 'Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num'. She let the words roll off her tongue. Alyssa didn't try to attempt to cast the charm because she first wanted to see what happened when someone actually produced one. So she just continued to sit and observe Arya while practicing the incantation to the charm. She did it silently though because she didn't want to distract Arya who would be attempting to produce her own and would need to concentrate.
Aiden moved away from the wall, pulling out her wand from it's holster. Finally they're getting into the practical! Nevertheless, she knew very well she couldn't conjure a Patronus. Who'd be able to do it at her age? Besides Harry Potter of course. He was in different level as they were. But that's not a reason no to try.
Wand pointed to the air, Aiden closed her eye trying to recall a happy memory. "Expecto Patronum," she called out. Nothing. Maybe one more time. "Expecto Patronum!" she exclaimed pointlessly since nothing was conjured.

Schirmer had an activity for the ones that could produce a patronus? Evelyn didn't know if she wanted to know or didn't want to know. How many activities could one do with a patronus anyhow? Seeing as how that previous one turned out...she didn't want to know. Nevertheless, once they were finally given the green light to do this, the Slytherin actually took a moment to look around and watch the others give it a go.
She did narrow her eyes glance at Arya though when her gaze moved that way. No reason. Or was there!? She shall never know.
Since they had to be all encouraging for the younger students and whatnot, Evelyn stood up and took out her wand, thinking of that happy memory that seemed to work for her before pointing her wand in front of her. "Expecto Patronum." The words were easy to pronounced from having done so a good handful of times before, however, no matter how many times she's done this spell, or will do in the future, it still caused a smile to appear on her face. As usual for her, it started out as a wisp of silvery light first before it grew into the corporeal patronus she'd seen before.
A caracal.
It bounded around her once before sitting still in front of her, staring at the others. Obviously, it was the cutest patronus. Well...in Evelyn's opinion it was.

Kennedy stood up and took out his wand. He understood the annunciation of the charm, but the whole getting a happy memory to contribute to produce the charm baffled him. He looked around and his green eyes landed on the Head Girl whom had just said the Patronus charm. He witnessed as a silvery light came out from her wand and turned into what looked like a cat with weird pointy ears.
"Awesome," he whispered.
The snake casted his eyes down to his own wand. "Expecto Patronum!".....
.......
... Nothing.
He shook his wand to see if his patronus got stuck inside it, but nothing happened.

"Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num..." Kurumi repeated, trying to get the proper inflection on the words. After uttering the spell a few more times to herself, Kurumi stood up for a moment, thinking that perhaps standing would make this sort of spell casting easier. Whenever you wanted to project a strong voice, for example, standing up always seemed to help.
So...there she was. Standing in the middle of the classroom, wand in hand, still trying to think of a memory that would be strong enough for her to be able to at least make something resembling a patronus come out of her wand...and she felt kind of ridiculous.
Changing her mind and deciding to take this one sitting down, Kurumi folded her legs under her and leaned back on her knees. This position wasn't really comfortable for the wooden floor and was better suited for tatami, but it was what she was used to and it should help her focus. Her thoughts were still a jumbled mess and she was finding it hard to focus on any single memory. But...maybe she didn't have to? Was a concept enough to be able to produce a proper patronus? Everything in her mind was revolving around one concept and one concept only: friendship.
Of course, Selina was the one that was most prominent in her mind, but Jonathan, Salander, Lexi, Heather, and many many others were also there. All of them smiling. All of them reaching towards her with open arms.
It wasn't really a memory, but it was the best she had for now.
Closing her eyes, Kurumi held out her wand, waved it slowly, and uttered the incantation. "Expecto Patronum..." She felt like of...warm...and fuzzy - if that was even possible while performing a spell - and when she opened her eyes she saw...SOMETHING...maybe...
It wasn't much, in fact...if you blinked you probably would have missed it, but there WAS something small and silvery coming out of the tip of her her wand..possibly. It was no bigger than a cotton ball, but she was sure that she had seen it. Either that, or she so wanted to be able to produce a patronus that she had imagined she had seen it - which was entirely possible. She moved to try the spell again, but felt drained and unable to do as much as lift her wand above her knee where she sat on the ground.
Nope, it was time for a break.

Alyssa hoped that she made sense and she did check to make sure that she wasn't repeating someone else's answer.

What was that for, huh??
Attention back to the spell. Right. Her wand twirled between her fingers slowly for a moment while she concentrated on the happy memory and the charm. With one last twirl, she aimed in in front of her and spoke the incantation. "Expecto Patronum." She smiled at the silvery light flowing out of the tip of her wand, instantly transforming into a hummingbird.
The silvery creature flew circles around the prefect excitedly cheerful before flying around the classroom in every direction possible. She watched it with a grin before turning to the younger badger. "You wanna give it a go now?"
She wouldn't be able to cast much, but it shouldn't stop her from trying.
Surely hadn't stoped Arya.

Alyssa almost clapped out loud and cheered with glee when she saw Arya produce a beautiful hummingbird patronus, but managed to catch herself at the last minute. She remembered that she had to try to be quiet so as not to distract the other students. So she gave Arya a two thumbs up sign congratulating her on being successful at her first attempt. Now that she had seen how Arya had produced the hummingbird, Alyssa was prepared to make her first attempt at producing a patronus herself. So she nodded when Arya asked her whether she wanted to give it a try.
Alyssa stood up and raised her wand. Taking a deep breath, she concentrated on the happiest memory she had which was of her playing her first Quidditch game and how her team had won that day. She felt that same warm feeling of happiness again, just like she had felt when she managed to levitate. Opening her eyes, Alyssa pointed her wand and said "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num". She was expecting something to come shooting out of her wand just like Arya's had, but nothing did. Not even a little whisp. Alyssa's shoulders slumped in disappointment and she sighed. "Maybe I should close my eyes the next time I try. Will that help me hold the memory better?" she asked looking up at Arya.

Finally they were going to cast the charm. Knowing that they're going to do that right now just even made Jonathan in a happier mood. There were a lot of things going to his mind right now and it's a mixture of producing his first corporeal patronus or nothing goes out of his wand, which would be more embarrassing since he has done it once. He should be able to do it again, right? RIGHT?!
He took out his wand as the professor had suggested. Incantation as always: Expecto Patronum. Easy to say hard to produce. It's advance magic as well and a few of the students can barely produce a non-corporeal patronus. And he saw Evelyn producing her own patronus already. Awesome-r.
Jonathan readied his wand and did the incantation like everyone else. Concentrate. Happy thoughts. Jonathan let his thoughts flow and as he pointed his wand "Expecto Patronum." he uttered. Of course, he expected to produce a non-corporeal patronus but he was ready enough to produce a corporeal patronus. He should start practicing for that.
He saw a silver smoke came out on the tip of the wand. Oh! He was really expecting for a creature. Maybe he should try a different memory. A powerful one or something like that. a little more practice and he'll get it.

Activity huh? This sounded good indeed. So smiling a bit he first looked at the professor then around once people had started to practice the spell or at least try to practice it. He could still remember himself when he was trying to do it on his own and how it was, so he thought he was all in and willing about that helping and encouraging the younger students part. Then, walking around a bit, he unholstered his wand and watched younger ones try until some animals of light bounce around caught his eye. There was a small and cute hummingbird flying around and what looked like a big cat. He assumed this one belonged to Evelyn since he knew she had the skills to cast the animal patronus easily or even beyond it.
Anyway, it looked like it was his turn to practice the spell. Therefore, pointing his wand at nowhere in particular, the lion boy did his best to focus on the very special happy memory he had. Even before he could cast the patronus, he memory brought a huge smile to his face.
''Expecto Patronum!'' he spoke out, then, eyes closed and once the light appeared on the tip of his wand, he opened his eyes to look at it.
The light there grew, grew, grew and shot itself forward in a form of ray only to form a silvery Friesian Horse which had started to gallop around immediately.
''Mine is the biggest.''
That was probably because it was a large horse breed but...whatever.
Hahahaha...

Recovering just a bit, Kurumi got up and walked over to the tables to grab a piece of chocolate and nibbled on it a bit. Chocolate was supposed to help with this sort of thing, right? Kurumi continued to munch on her chocolate and decided to observe the older students for a bit for some pointers.
Of course Evelyn had produced her patronus, they had been discussing its form earlier, so there was no surprise there. Kurumi didn't venture asking her about how she conjured it, the memory she had chosen, because Kurumi still found the Head Girl intimidating. It was something in the eyes...Yep.
She saw that Jonathan produced some silver mist from his wand and instantly recognized that what he had produced and what had come from her own wand were two very different looking things. So it really had just been a figment of her imagination...well that was disappointing.
Walking back over to her spot, and smiling at Jonathan as she passed, Kurumi nearly feel over backwards when something MASSIVE and silver ran past her and...well...through her as it were. "KYAAAA!" she exclaimed, stumbling backwards and actually tripping over her own feet. She managed to land somewhat gracefully on the floor, and the proud cry of 'Mine is the biggest' told her exactly who had cast the spell.
Josh.
Semi crawling towards him, Kurumi sat in perfect seiza in front of him with her hands on her knees. "J-J-Josh...how did you...um...focus your memory enough to produce your patronus?" After all, Josh must have a REALLY happy memory to have been able to produce something that big and vivid. Kurumi was beginning to think that she just didn't have enough life experience to produce one properly.

Lexi rose from her seat and moved a LITTLE closer to Kurumi as she took her wand from its holster. She needed that MEMORY. Hehe. Of course most of her Patronus conjuring memories revolved around Salander these days. Hey! What could a girl do? She was happiest when Sal and she were happy. Heh.
A smile spread her lips as she closed her eyes for a moment and thought hard about her summer holiday to Asia. Pulling Sal's face up in her mind, him smiling brightly at her when he was covered in mud from a poorly timed portkey... his face when they stood in front of the Taj Mahal. She allowed the emotions to fill her up and held strong to those fantastic memories as she spoke loudly and clearly, "Expecto Patronum!"
She was still holding to the good vibes when the baby lynx patronus burst from the end of her wand and stood blinking at her for a moment before beginning to pounce all over the room. Hehe. HER PATRONUS WAS THE CUTEST IN THE WORLD! She cast a glance around and smiled before turning her attention back to her baby lynx, so as not to lose concentration and lose the patronus.

Harvey was very excited that they would get the chance to try out the spell and their happy memory. So he had a go, he let the memory fill him up "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num!!" he said as he pointed his wand in front of him. He waited to see what would come out.. waited... waited.... nothing. Harvey was disappointed he was sure something would come out.
He looked around the room to see many creatures come out of the older students wands. He looked in awe! he couldnt believe the beauty of this spell, such beautifil creatures were appearing. Some other slightly younger students were producing smokey things out of their wands, but at least they ARE able to produce SOMETHING he thought to himself. I got nothing yet. Maybe I need to concentrate harder he thought to himself.
He closed his eyes, let the memory fill him up, he concentrated on that memory "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num!" he opened his eyes and he waited to see what would appear out of his wand. He waited... suddenly he saw some tiny bit of a wispy wave come out of his wand. He was very excited he HAD actually produced SOMETHING at least.
He then tried again to see if he could produce some more wisps. He closed his eyes, thought of the memory, let it fill him completely, concentrate ON the memory "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num!!" he pointed and he opened his eyes and looked at his wand at first nothing seemed to be appearing but then he saw a wisp, bigger than last time but still small.
"Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num," said Erin in an audible but unconfident tone. It almost sounded like a sigh. She was not thinking about her happy memory yet. That's probably the reason why nothing came out from her wand. How could she do this task? Looking at the other students who tried, some had produced a slight whisp of smoke and others, like the sixth and seventh years could cast a corporeal Patronus already. How awesome!
She stared to the others for a moment, she hoped someone would join her on casting the Patronus Charm. Deciding to look for one herself, she tried the charm once again, "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num."

Alyssa decided to try to produce a patronus again. She knew that the chances of her producing a corporeal one was totally zero to none. As for a non corporeal one, well the chances of that were maybe 20%...when she was a little older and more experienced. For now she just wanted to see what kind of memories would help produce a better result for her. She knew that the best memory still was the one she had tried using earlier, so she decided to use that memory. Taking a deep breath, Alyssa pointed her wand and closed her eyes to help her concentrate and capture that memory again. As she relived those moments on the Quidditch field again, she began to feel that same intense joy and happiness she had felt that day. With a smile on her face, she opened her eyes....she decided that closing her eyes would be stupid because she wanted to be able to see what was happening, if anything ever did....and said the incantation to the charm "Expecto Patronum".
She saw something shoot out of her wand. Something silvery and whispy. She had done it!! But then when the silvery substance didn't grow or change or even disappear, Alyssa knew something was wrong. She wiggled her wand and the silvery, whispy thing, wiggled too. With a sigh of disappointment, Alysss stopped pointing her wand and brought it closer to inspect it. Sure enough, there was a piece of silvery string hanging from the tip of it!! It was from one of the streamers hanging above her head. Alyssa had failed again.
Jesifur thought back to her happiest memory. She closed her eyes and allowed it to fill her mind, fill her spirit. She felt herself smiling. As her smile widened she opened her eyes and joyfully shouted, "Expecto Partonum!" The end of her wand was a glittery white and beginning to expel a whitish smoke like substance. Jesifur's thoughts wandered to what was happening with her wand. As soon as her focus was not on that memory her wand went dark.
Jesifur shook her head. Maintain focus, isn't that the first rule.

"EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!" nothing happened again. Maybe she was too young to produce the Patronus
"Excuse me Professor Schirmer?" she raised her hand and wanted to ask a question.
"First, does a corporeal patronus only deliver the message? and second, actually how can we speak the message that we want deliver to someone by patronus? I still didn't... understand."

Lilly knew she'd have no chance of casting a successful patronus, but she tried anyway. 'Ex-PEC-to-pat-RON-um,' she muttered, trying to say it correctly. Nothing. 'Expecto Patronum,' she repeated. A tiny, dim light stayed at the tip of her wand for about three seconds. It was obvious she wouldn't get it for a while. Fifth, maybe sixth year she'd succeed?

After taking a short break to free her mind, and mainly to de-stress from the 'pressure' of having to produce a patronus, Alyssa was prepared to try again. She wasn't going to just give up. That wasn't the Badger way, which she knew that would be what Arya would say too.
So Alyssa stood up and took out her wand. She then closed her eyes and brought back that happy memory to mind. She concentrated on that happy moment. She concentrated on how happy she felt that day. She concentrated on the feeling of joy when her team won and how she felt when the team hugged each other and how she felt like she was finally part of a family. She concentrated on how she felt when students she didn't even know came and hugged her. She concentrated on how much she laughed when she saw Aaron and Simon wearing their mascot suits. Just remembering that moment made her laugh as she opened her eyes, pointed her wand and said the incantation, "Expecto Patronum".
The strangest thing happened. The tip of her wand started to glow and something whispy-like slowly appeared...or rather it looked like it was flowing out from her wand. "YES!!," Alyssa said laughing with joy and punching the air in triumph. She had finally made 'something' appear. As she continued to laugh, delighted with her success, the whispy thing grew to a size of a small intsy wintsy ball...like a large dust particle...just for a few seconds...before the tip of her wand stopped glowing and the whispy thingy disappeared.
Alyssa was disappointed that she wasn't able to hold the whispy thing longer than it did. But at the same time she was really happy and excited that she did manage to produce something. She knew that she wouldn't be able to produce a Corporeal Patronus being young and inexperienced, so being able to produce a non corporeal one, to her opinion, was totally amazing, even though it looked more like smoke than anything else. She looked at Arya to see whether she had done the charm correctly.

Harvey decided to try again to produce something from his wand. He concentrated on his memory that he was happy about "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num!" he opened his eyes and looked at his wand nothing happened. So he decided to try again but concentrate EVEN harder this time. He closed his eyes and concentrated on his memory I wish that this memory would happen again. he thought CONCENTRATE!!! he thought angrily at himself "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num!" he opened his eyes and he thought he saw a whisp of something come from his wand. He decided to try one more time. He concentrated hard on his memory "Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num" he then opened his eyes and saw a definite whisp or something come out of his wand. He was soo happy that something had come out of his wand.
Jordan waited and listened intently, he thought out the incantation, Ecks-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num, it trailed in and out of his mind. He would do this!
He cricked out his next, which had tensed up slightly, in an attempt to get ready for this complex spell. He thought of his most powerful memory, well here goes...
"Expecto Patronum!" he yelled defiantly. He pointed his wand, expecting a silvery animal to burst from the tip. He waited, and waited, no animal. Not anything. Disappointed, he made a noise which could only be audible as "Hmph!"
He tried again, his memory clear in his mind. "Expecto Patronum!"pointing his wand once again. He noticed something happening at the tip of his wand. It was very faint, but there was definately a silvery mist coming from the wand. "Yes!" he punched the air, before realising that he had lost concentration and that mist had gone no sooner than it had appeared.
