Deciding to just ignore the offending relative, Derian brightened and smiled at Chris as he was suddenly struck with an idea, "I know exactly what I want to do with the leftover hair, and thanks for the help. I'm hopeless with do-it-yourself haircuts anyway." He gathered his his hair and wound it into a bun that threatened to throw his sense of equilibrium off; to secure it, he tied the rest into a belt of sorts.

"Now, we just have to find some scissors..." Absently, he patted his pockets in the vain hope that a pair of scissors would magically be there.

Legend raised an eyebrow at the younger girl. She had heard about him? Was that...a good thing or a bad thing? He shrugged it off. It obviously had to be good, because people were talking about him. "That would be me! I hope it's good thing's your hearing." Legend winked then reached over and grabbed a graham cracker and some chocolate. "Now what's your name?" Positioning himself on the arm of the couch he waited until the fire was clear.

Personal family stuff. He understood. Legend shook his head. "That sucks mate. But it's good to have to back." Patting Rafe on the shoulder he grinned. "You still a major Quidditch head?"

YUP He was right she was a first year. "How are you liking Hogwarts so far? You know minus the smelly hat." Someone seriously needed to wash that barmy hat, it was too old for it's own good.


Legend seemed to have said the wrong thing, based on Sabel's reaction. Oops? It wasn't his fault though! That's what they looked like to him it was an honest question. Maybe one of them did like each other though? Legend wasn't about to ask that, in case it might be Sabel. You didn't go embarrassing your mates, it was like...a code.

"Sorry." He said holding his hands up as if to say he were innocent. "Just thought- the hugging and stuff. Never mind me." Friends got it. The sixth year would NOT ask again.

"Defense Against the Dark Arts for sure." She said. "I love learning new things. Though I especially can't wait until I learn some good spells for pranks. Tell me, is your little brother free game or is he just reserved for your practical jokes?" She asked smiling.

Heather turned back to Legend. "Heather Miller. Well, I didn't so much hear stuff as I observed it. For instance I heard someone call you Legend so I assumed it was your name. I also know that you were talking with Rafe a little bit earlier." She looked at him. He probably thought she was just another stupid eleven year old girl. "I'm good at reading people and observing them. I'm good at picking up on things and learning. And I strictly have issues with those who think I'm just a little girl." Heather looked up at him. "People judge too much by my age and size instead of getting to know me. It grows tiring."

She hugged back Adam and replied, "Hey look it's my favorite redhead."

When he asked her about the Common Room her eyes traveled around the room soaking in every detail with great delicacy. "Yeah," she replied breathlessly, "It's weird, but it feels like home. So you excited to be back?"

"Chayeah..."He said geekily.
"TO me it is home. But yeah it feels better than home trust me.Home is not comparable to this- not my home at least.
We'll be redheads in crime..."He said, pretending to sneak around the common room by hiding behind the couch and popping up

"Ok, I know it's wierd, but I have a couple pairs in my trunk. Be right back," Chris said as she ran up the stairs to her dormitory. She was back in a flash, scissors and wand in hand. "My mother showed me how to charm them to cut your hair for you. Just in case I get tired of my hair. Being the only girl and the youngest, she loves teaching my random stuff like that."

"Scissors, young Gryffie?" Rafe questioned. Well, if he was already having fun this far, he might as well go through with it. Rafe pointed to two toothpicks that were on the table, that were to hold the s'mores and said a few incantations in his head and they turned into very large garden shears. He picked them up and brought them over to Derian, despite him attempting to ignore him. "I don't think scissors will help, but these might," Rafe said as be forced them in Derian's hands. "Welcome to Gryffindor," he said rather smugly as he scratched his brother's head.

Rafe returned back to his seat on the floor by the fire. "Oh yeah! Quidditch all the way man!" Rafe smiled. "I can't imagine a life without it!" Rafe immediately signed up for tryouts already. "I'm just ready for tryouts to begin! What about you?"

Rafe laughed at how enthusiastic the young first year was. "If you can get away with a few curses here and there I won't mind! Maybe I can make it a competition! Whoever can pull the best prank on Derian will get a 100 galleons, compliments of Raoul Lycaon!" he said rather loudly for everyone to here. "If you want some more lessons too, I'd be more than happy to help, I've made up a few spells up myself," he said rather proudly.

He took the shears and promptly dropped them, "Thanks for the warm introduction, old man, but your doddering help is not needed." He smiled warmly at his brother before turning again to Chris, "So your mum's a witch? Mine's a muggle. Must be convenient to have someone spell household objects. Back home in Kent, its manual labor for me." He jovially held out his hand to begin so she could hand him a pair of the scissors. He was eager to begin the much needed haircut.

This girl was nice. He rather enjoyed her company.

"Hmm... Tempting." Heather said smiling. "I might just take you up on that."

"There, there brother that wasn't very nice," he said as he noticed Derian dropping the shears. He pointed his wand at them on the ground and cast a spell turning them back into the toothpicks. "I'll leave you and your new little girlfriend alone," he had an evil little grin on his face as he cast one last spell that make little fluttering hearts soar around Derian and the girl he was talking to. He returned his focus to the fire and continued to make s'mores.

Rafe laughed. "Good luck, us Lycaon men can be quite tricky," he said with a crooked grin. He gobbled up another s'more.

"Well, you know how cool the redheads are. People don't understand our special talents." Selina joked as Adam played James Bond.

When he mentioned the fact that his home was not comparable she perked an eyebrow. She did not want to push the subject, he was in such high spirits. But earlier in the summer she had brushed it aside in discomfort. What friend would she be if she ignored it now?

"Why is that?" She said looking intently at him.

Simon chuckled back in return. "Pretty much," he answered with a nod. Accepting a ready made s'more," he took a bite and settled back to relax as the conversations continued on around him. Hearing many mentions of quidditch he perked up slightly but stayed quiet not about to bring attention to himself but rather listen and observe for the time being.

"Parents ignore me all the time."He said in a sullen tone.
Hadn't he already mentioned this information to her, or was it his memory loss.

"I think I could take you given enough time to learn." Heather smiled. "Besides, I've always had a knack for controlling men." She said giving him a wink.

Lexi nodded as Legend mentioned Dumbledore. Interesting. Perhaps he had read Hogwarts, A History. "Who knows, perhaps that Ministry bloke will prove to be a likeable guy," she mentioned offhanded as she waved her wand as a marshmallow, causing it to levitate from teh pile in the floor and toward the open flames of the fire. "I think we should all be careful around him though," she added for good measure.

Quirking an eyebrow she shook her head. "I can't argue with you. Most girls are wretched." Exactly why she tried not to associate herself with many of them. Boys were simple. And you could typically trust them.

Lexi put turned her attention to the little girl and smiled. "Sabel couldn't keep his balance if his life depended on it, honey. And I... well, I still can't walk a straight line and fall more than I stand," she said with a wink.

Snuggling her back against Sabel she sighed contentedly. Good times. Then he prodded her in her teeny tiny ribs. Giving a flail and a snort she lost her concentration on the mallow she had been roasting and it flopped into the open fire. Boo. When he curled his legs up she was right there in a cute little Sabel sandwich with a smile on her face. "Truth. It is all I speak, my friend."


Summer. Her summer had been mostly wretched thanks to her breakup and all the family issues. Shrugging as she had with Madame Donovan she let the subject drop. "I, for one, am so glad to be here I can't put it to words," she said quietly and full of warm emotions. Truth was, she was happy to be anywhere besides the Leaky Cauldron all by herself.

Spotting her little friend, Lexi motioned her over and smiled brightly. She had SO much to talk to Alice about when they went to their dorm. SO MUCH. She also wanted to know how her family was doing. Poor kid. "S'mores?" she asked as she motioned toward the pile of food.

Lexi smiled at Simon and nodded. The quidditch captain was going to have to get to know these guys. If he was smart he would put Rafe and Legend on the team RIGHT AWAY. Hehe. If Legend would try out. He was really quite good.

Beaming, Lexi bowed her head and in a dramatic voice declared, "I do try my best to please my fellow Lions, kind sir. Only the best for you lot." She was just so happy to be with her extended family again. Her friends and housemates. Warm fuzzy emotions again.

Really? Was the thought of dating her so repulsive? Frowning slightly Lexi didn't turn to meet Sabel's eyes. "As he so eloquently put it, we are just friends. Not for my lack of trying awhile ago. I do, however, have a boyfriend. You met him, Legend. Jimmy's friend, Ivan. Yeah. Him," she said softly. Sighing slightly she decided it was probably best if she go to bed.

Clearing her throat she smiled around the room, still not meeting Sabel's eyes though. "Alright. Welcome home, everyone. I am so glad to see you all here. I must get some beauty rest, though and let Juniper out of her cage. Boys, I will see you all tomorrow. Girls, I will see you in the dorms. Feel free to finish off the s'mores, I brought them for everyone." That was all she really had to say. PAtting Sabel awkwardly she rose from her spot on the sofa beside him and reholstered her wand before turning to make her way toward the stairs.

"Why is that, if you don't mind me asking." She did feel bad asking, but that day they had seen each other in the park she was preoccupied with Demitri. So when he was about to open up she changed the subject from hopes of avoiding further depression.

But she was ready now and would always be ready because friends were always there when you needed them. So Selina would be there for Adam.

Woah. Legend had to blink a few times to clear his head. Heather... was...JUST LIKE HIM WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER! Heck, she was just like him NOW. "You're a smart one then. I wouldn't have got that and DADA is like my favourite class." He snorted. But no one ever said he was brilliant. "I know what you mean. That was me a couple years ago, until I had my growth spur. Everyone was like 'you're a little kid' it was so annoying." People just didn't understand right? "My dad still does it even now. How I see it is...your as old as you act." Yeah, and Heather seemed to act older.

Legend chuckled. "Knew you couldn't change too much man." Rafe was actually good at Quidditch so Legend had no problem with him. He just disliked the people that thought they were so good for doing one thing, with no style at all! Those people shouldn't even be allowed to call themselves true players. "I hate the sport man! I just did it too prove that I could play." He had thought he did a good job at it too. Showed some style and scored a few points. It was all good. He just didn't like the sport. "If you ever want to go Pro, tell me. My sister is on the Magpies so she knows like a few good agents." Gryffindors had to stick together right? Help a fellow Gryffindor out.

...and then if Rafe got famous Legend would be able to say that HE helped him. Mwaha.


Likeable? Legend doubted it. All Ministry people were scum. And that was saying something, since his dad AND mom AND other family members he knew were Aurors. Wasn't their fault though. They agreed too. Plus he had heard the stories of the year when Ministry Professors took over, and the school was separated between boys and girls. "Careful yes. We can't trust him guys. At all."

IVAN. Lexi was dating Ivan? They didn't seem like a couple at all! Well...maybe they did he wasn't really playing attention then. Oh, maybe he shouldn't haved talked to another guys girlfriend so much when he was around. "Night Lexi. Sweet dreams." Poor Sabel. She seemed upset...or something.

Legend honestly didn't understand females.

Rafe scooted away jokingly, "Well, should I take that as a warning?" Rafe asked with a raised eyebrow. "I'm not one that likes to be controlled!" Rafe had already been there several years ago, when someone slipped him a love potion and he was completely not himself and had no idea what happened to him.

"Well, thy is pleased with milady's choice of dessert," Rafe said in a humble dramatic tone. Rafe smiled as he took another one. How many was that five? Six? However many the event, his tummy was certainly feeling it as it made a loud grumbling noise. He gave it a nice rub, "It's okay little guy, one more won't hurt ya." He picked up another s'more and began to chow down.

"And you can play! You're awesome, you have to at least try out, it's so much fun flying, it gives you a whole new sense of freedom," Rafe said as he close his eyes for a moment and pictured himself on a broom. And then Legend told him some of the best news ever!!! "Really the Magpies?! Are you serious!? That would Be TotALLY AWESOME!!!" Rafe's eyes completely lit up. He always wanted to go pro and if Legend had a way in he'd be more than happy to take it. "Thanks man! You're definitely going to live up to your name I can tell ya that!"

Adjusting his sideways position is his Comfy!Chair, Jayce glanced over at the rather large group that had formed. Meh. He was too lazy to get up and go talk to people. So, his only option was eavesdropping on their conversations. The boy leaned back, propping his arms at the back of his head, resting on the arm and keeping his head up all at the same time. Now he REALLY wished Opal was here. Jay was lonely. Frooown.

Heather was starting to like Legend even more. A friend, he may be. Heather thought to herself. "Oh my God, finally someone who gets it." She sighed. "My mother just tells me I have little person syndrome." She scoffed.

"Nah, stay on my good side and I won't do anything to you... well at least not too bad anyway." She laughed as he scooted away. "I don't like being controlled either." She said. "It's not the best way to leave your life."

Shaking his head a little, Sabel offered the girl a reassuring smile. "Just grab someone from the common room or the halls. People here are friendly and willing to lend a helping hand." He may have offered her assistance, but at the moment, Legend's topic of conversation had his mind occupied.



He was about to tell Legend it was fine and not to worry about it when Lexi was suddenly up and leaving. One moment she was perfectly happy and the next she was throwing out jabs and dismissing herself with less ease than before. It was a bit of a touchy subject, fine, but he figured perhaps they were old enough to be able to deal with it without getting dramatic. Apparently not.

With a sigh, he righted himself and gave everyone a small smile, his eyes stopping last on Legend. "Pleasure to meet you Legend. We'll have to catch up sometime if it appeals to you. Goodnight everyone." One last wave was given before he pushed himself up and followed after Lexi; after all if this talk didn't go well, he was going to turn into a warm bed and comfy pillow.

He caught up to her at the staircase, slowing down his strides as he frowned slightly at her, his voice of questioning concern. "Lexi?"

"Well, I defnitely would hate to be on your bad sad young fiesty one," Rafe grinned as he scooted over to his original seat. "You're definitely picking up on magic quick, I'd hate to be on the other end of one of your curses." Come to think of it, Rafe couldn't really recall ever having a curse thrown his way. Once Derian started to pick up on a few things or two, he'd definitely have to watch his back, but it would be a couple of years of so before he'd able to be fast enout for something like that.

"So, tell me your life's story," Rafe said as he stretched out his legs and leaned back on his elbows.

Derian raised his eyebrows as he spotted Rafe getting comfy with a lady and a s'more on the couch. With his hair back to the way it was, he had just come down from getting a little revenge for Rafe's hair stunt earlier. He may not be able to manipulate magic yet, but one didn't mess with a Chemistry buff and get away scott-free. With a few... ingredients from his trunk, he had finagled a very stubborn glue with which he had constructed a gift for his brother. The gift was waiting all over the other's spare robes. Rafe would have to do some extensive laundering in order to make his clothes look normal again.

He sauntered over to his brother and plucked the s'more out of his hand, not caring that Rafe had already taken a bite, and plopped the rest of it into his own mouth, "Bonsoir, brother dear. Who is the creamy lady you are entertaining in so debonair a fashion?"

Legend rolled his eyes as Rafe began to talk about him trying out. Of course it was playfully though. "You're really a bonafied Quidditch head. Do you eat broomstick shaped pancakes too?" Trying to convince Legend to like a sport? Nah. He liked Sports, just Muggle ones. "I'll sign up if not enough people do...but that's still not making any promises." He didn't want to torture himself. "Yeah! Her name's Alexis Chosen, she's a Chaser. Have you heard of her?" Lex tried to keep a low profile so he wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't but then again she was one of the Magpies main Chasers. Legend laughed, only recently had people actually been pointing out his name so much. "No problem dude. But you better make the team this term. Or it'll be hard." Legend really didn't have any doubt in that though.

Legend grinned. "It's a curse. Trust me, people find it hard to understand. But don't try proving it to them by words. Act how you are and they will see." Words of wisdom FINALLY right there yo. He yawned. "Next time she says that tell her she has old people syndrome. I do it to my dad all the time." Mwaha. Could parents take what they dished out.
