Gryffindor Common Room
The official home of the Lions, the Gryffindor common room, is found on the seventh floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Because the entrance to the common room is the portrait of the Fat Lady, Lions must know the password and speak it to the Fat Lady in order to get through. "Flibbertigibbet!"
Remember that word...and keep it a close secret, for it's the current password you'll need to speak in order for the Fat Lady to swing away from the hole and allow you entrance to Gryffindor Tower. Once you're lucky enough to crawl through, you'll find that the common room is a circular area full of squashy armchairs, tables, and a bulletin board. A window looks out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace takes up one entire wall. It's the perfect place to relax and hang out after a long day of classes!
That is, unless you're in need of a nap or ready for a good night's rest. In that case, there are two doors leading off from the common room that open to spiral staircases. Boys dormitories are upstairs and to the right, while girls dormitories are upstairs and to the left.
For whatever reason you're here, make sure you take good care of your home away from home! There's bound to be a perfect, your Head of House, or maybe even a house elf lurking nearby! | |

Heather blushed. "Sure." Heather said as she sat down and tried to hide her bright red face. You're eleven and he looks older than you. It wouldn't work if you tried. Heather thought to herself. Flibbertigibbet. A big, amazing school with such a great reputation, and they use such nonsensical words as flibbertigibbet. Derian's only consolation was that he would have no problem remembering such silliness. The portrait swung open to reveal a sizable throng of kids his age and older all milling around and talking, but all of this faded into the background when he caught sight of Rafe.
His sibling had apparently beat him to the common room. Lovely.
With a mental sigh of resignation, he stepped into the room and stared at the decor. In this one room he was seeing more red and gold than he had ever seen in his life before. It was kind of overwhelming. Blinking, he shoved his hands into his pockets wishing he had his guitar as something to do instead of standing about looking awkward. Ahh, the plight of a new student.

The Gryffindor commonroom was even better than Christina imagined it. She looked at everything in the room, trying not to look like another stupid first year. She hadn't gotten the courage to talk to anyone at the feast, but she was determined to find a friend in this strange new school. She looked nervously at the older looking students standing around, only making herself more nervous. Quote:

"That sounds just like her." He'd only met her during the feast, but the little thing sure knew how to leave an impression. Not as big of an impression as Legend just did though. If he had been chewing, swallowing or anything else but breathing, he probably would have choked. Wide eyes seemed an adequate substitute however, and for a good moment he tried to remember how to speak.
Seconds seemed like hours, but if he rewound and re-watched the scene, it really didn't take him long to respond. "No. Just friends." He'd leave the rest up for Lexi to explain, which would hopefully include the mention that she did have a boyfriend. For now, he was going to focus on maintaining the happy excitement that was teetering on the edge of embarrassment and less pleasant memories. Quote:

Heather did as she was instructed and pulled out her wand. She copied his motions and said "Wingardium Leviosa." She wanted to try it so she pointed her wand at a one of the white fluffy marshmallows. "Wingardium Leviosa".... A marshmallow shot up into the air and she moved her wand so the marshmallow would hang over the flame. "Like that?" She asked the boy. "I'm Heather by the way. Heather Miller."

But, just before he began a full-scale panic attack, he growled and riveted a glare on his chortling brother. "Rafe!" he didn't bother disguising his anger, "I don't know what the bloody well you just pulled, but you had better end it! I was in the middle of a conversation for cripes sake!" Chris smiled back at the boy and looked down at her feet. "Pretty easy to get lost in a place like this," she said.
She looked up in panic as Derian started to yell, but was even more surprised to see the massive amount of hair that was still stretching toward the floor. She glanced in the direction Derian was shouting to see an older boy doubled over in laughter as he started teasing him. "Nice shot. Bad timing though," she said, trying to lighten the mood.

He grabbed a couple of handfuls of his extremely heavy mane and shrugged helplessly.

" Anyway, sorry Chris, but I need to go find a pair of scissors so that I can get this mess back to normal... if you want company, you can come with?" He did not anticipate that his introduction to the magic world would be so vexing. Rafe would get his. His older brother did not know what he had unleashed this night.

Selina walked into the common room in awe. After she gave the Fat Lady her password she stepped through the portrait hole to reveal the bright red room full of people reuniting with friends they did not see on the train or in the Great Hall. The room was just as she had imagined it.
The fire was the heart of the common room. A few large couches were strewn about and the famous seating in front of the fire that had once sat the Golden Trio was situated in the same spot it sat for them over seventy-five years ago. The furniture had a homey wear and tear to them. They were all dim red and at the same time very vibrant.
The walls held what seemed like battle wounds of the past and Selina could not wait to make her mark over the next seven years. Quote:
