Gryffindor Common Room

The official home of the Lions, the Gryffindor common room, is found on the seventh floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Because the entrance to the common room is the portrait of the Fat Lady, Lions must know the password and speak it to the Fat Lady in order to get through.

"Gobbledygook!"

Remember that word...and keep it a close secret, for it's the current password you'll need to speak in order for the Fat Lady to swing away from the hole and allow you entrance to Gryffindor Tower. Once you're lucky enough to crawl through, you'll find that the common room is a circular area full of squashy armchairs, tables, and a bulletin board. A window looks out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace takes up one entire wall. It's the perfect place to relax and hang out after a long day of classes!

That is, unless you're in need of a nap or ready for a good night's rest. In that case, there are two doors leading off from the common room that open to spiral staircases. Boys dormitories are upstairs and to the right, while girls dormitories are upstairs and to the left.

For whatever reason you're here, make sure you take good care of your home away from home! There's bound to be a perfect, your Head of House, or maybe even a house elf lurking nearby!

Lukas saw movement out of the corner of his eye and glanced up in time to see the sleeping boy uncurl himself and sit up. He smiled politely. The boy addressed the cookie girl as 'crummy' or something like that before turning to Lukas. He grasped the outstretched hand briefly and smiled more widely. "I'm Lukas," he answered, "Ferdinand. Sorry, Lukas Ferdinand." he said, mentally kicking himself. This introduction thing, with surnames, it was so weird.

Kurumi flushed a little with just a slight change in hair color to pink, but not enough for anyone to notice unless they were looking. Really, she wasn't that amazing. Adam was probably just saying that because they were such good friends. "Adam is a really nice guy," she said smiling at the two boys. "He could really use some guy friends." She giggled.

Mr. panda was about to approach a sleeping adam, attempting to touch him, but Heather caught the doll and lifted it.

"oh no! Mr. panda! don't! he's asleep! don't disturb him!" she said and then turned to Kurumi. "he's probably excited to be alive and seeing us excited at him being alive...maybe he'll clam down a bit if we calm down as well." she smiled as she hugged the doll that hugged her back.

The panda doll was now looking at Kurumi, then stretched its arms out, obviously wanting a hug. "oh look Kurumi, Mr. Panda wants a hug from you as well!"

Kurumi was in total geek out mode now watching the panda running around. It was just like when Cam had animated her lion cookie. She jumped up onto the couch in her excitement. How could she possible be calm when there was a panda walking around! "THAT'S SO AWESOME!" she exclaimed looking like a child who was meeting Santa for the first time.

Adam's heart stopped beating, she touched his hair. "Hey, I was resting my eyes...Midweek, is good. Let's just remember we have school work and a social life to live... but I wouldn't mind working and cooking with you for a hour or so.I can get to know you better, more privately."Adam said.

"Hi," he replied from his chair. "Second year, yeah," he said wondering how Adam knew that. "Well, it's been okay, it's my first day here," he corrected Adam. He blinked surprised. He seemed rather, what was the word, smitten? Maybe. "Well, her cookies are nice," he said fairly. Coming up with something to say about someone you'd met five seconds ago was quite a feat he thought.

Privately, that seemed like an interesting word choice. Still, Kurumi was happy to have a baking buddy. Making cookies with someone else always made them taste better. "Then it's a date," she winked.

"You bake?" he asked with interest. "Did you bake those?" he asked, pointing at the cookies she had offered him. He looked impressed.

Lukas smiled back. "I know how that feels," he replied. "I've only met two girls so far," he added. "So, you can come to me for guy time, Adam," he said friendlily.

"That's great," Kurumi smiled flashing her violet eyes towards Lukas. "Adam could really use some guy time. Maybe you can help him with a certain...err... situation," yeah...that was the best way to describe Adam and Katie's relationship, wasn't it?

She put her box of cookies on the floor and covered them with its white griffin engraved lid. "Yeah, it kind of became a hobby of mine," she explained smiling at Lukas. "I didn't have friends growing up, besides my other brothers, so my mother was always baking things with me."

She tried a smile on, remembering smiles are always best to wear when meeting friends, as told to her by her mom, and then pointed to her panda doll that she held. Kurumi noticed Lukas' discomfort at her question and thought it best not to push the matter...at least not for now. Maybe after they had gotten to know each other better. "It's Japanese," she explained trying to give him some reassurance with her smile. "It actually means chestnut in English. My mother is Japanese, but my father is British. I grew up in Japan." She paused for a moment. "How about you?" Yes, nice normal conversation was what this boy seemed like he needed. She had liked the smile he made before.

Watching Adam give Lukas a pat on the back gave her the giggles for some reason. She was glad that he had made another guy friend.

Heather was happy to see Adam shake hands with her doll. Then he aksed, what she meant about 'charmed'.

"oh...my parents put a spell on him, you know, magic, for when i get homesick or lonely even...he used to be just a muggle doll my dad bought for me all the way from china in one of his travels. Now, i can really play with him whenever he's magically alive!..." she answered as the doll waved its arms around. "i just tap him with my wand and say 'flubby' to make him alive and tap him again and say 'hibernate' to put him back to his inanimate state...mom said it only works with me and my wand..." she leaned closer. "and my dad wrote in his letter that when i lose my doll, he'll just magically appear in places i am familiar with."

Lukas nodded understandingly. "Fair enough," he said chummily, not pressing her further. There was evidently something not good for her in Japan but what did that matter, they weren't in Japan. "I'm only half-French," he said, self-depreciatingly and shrugging, "but I'm sure she's lovely," he said politely.

He spotted Kurumi's face switch from worry to pride at Adam's achievement at finding a boy to be friends with. He giggled slightly. These two were certainly an interesting pair.

He spotted Kurumi's face switch from worry to pride at Adam's achievement at finding a boy to be friends with. He giggled slightly. These two were certainly an interesting pair.

"Then we are both...halfies," she laughed awkwardly coming up with the term off the top of her head. She was curious about Lukas, it wasn't that he didn't seem comfortable talking about himself, but he was certainly reserved about it. "Lukas," she said trying out his name. "Did you always know you were a wizard?"

Lukas laughed. Halfies. It was cute, he liked it. "Halfies," he repeated happily. He considered her question. Hmm, that was an interesting one certainly, not something he'd been asked before. "I mean, I knew once I started doing magic by mistake, when I was pretty young and my parents told me what I was, but not before then," he finished looking pleased at the challenge of answering. "My mum's a witch but my dad isn't magic," he added.

Pleased with herself that she had made Lukas smile again, her eye grew big when she learned that he was also of the half-blood variety. "We are double halfies," she exclaimed throwing her hands in the air. "Adam here is muggle-born," she said making sure Adam was still included in the conversation. She turned her gaze back to Lukas. "I remember doing some magic when I was little...I didn't know it was magic though. I would tell my father about what had happened - like a boy's chair vanishing in the middle of class - but he always had some way of explaining why it happened without the term magic." She laughed. She really was too naive for her own good.

He yawned again and leaned over the arm of the chair. "Oh, what's that like?" he asked Adam. Then he burst out laughing. "Really?" "You made a chair disappear," he said between chortles, "and he managed to pass that off as normal?" "He must be quite the storyteller," he said, his father's language formality coming through.

Knowing Adam was sitting next to her made her feel comfortable enough to continue with her story and besides, Lukas has very kind eyes and a good laugh. "Well...with the chair...it happened to a boy who was, well, particularly mean to me," she paused as she could get into the why factor later. "He had just finished throwing my school shoes out the window and I was so angry with him when *poof* he chair vanished. He went to sit down and ended up falling on the floor," she paused to laugh at the memory, maybe that was a little vindictive, but she really didn't like that guy. "I told me dad about it and he said that someone must have taken his chair when I blinked..." That was a good reason, she had to admit.

Lukas still looked sceptical that she could believe such a sory but he listened with interest anyway "How did he get ahold of your shoes anyway?" he asked, confused about this minor point. "Weren't you wearing them?" He snickered again, this time at the image of a little boy falling through empty air where a chair had stood. "When you blinked?" he said incredulously. "If anything that'd make me think that somebody else had the magic to do that..." Lukas said trailing off thinking about all his mishaps with magic early on.
