Rhea nodded. She always hated the parties, all the formalities were enouhg to drive her up the wall, though she didn't mind the good looking boys that got dragged along with their parents as well. Boys. Their only purpose was apparently to make her miserable. Her dad was right, boys were evil and it was best to stay away from them. Well Aiden wasn't evil, but he wasn't a boy boy, he was her friend, so he didn't count.

Rhea was about to shrug but was once again reminded by her mom's voice in her sub conscious telling her that it was not a good idea to do that while dancing, might throw off her partner.
"Family business. He didn't elaborate and I didn't ask." She replied. Her voice was held no emotion, neither happy nor sad. She had long perfected the art of hiding her emotions. She had to accept that this was how it is.

Still looking around to make sure he was doing it right Theo began to move with the music. He knew as the guy that he should be leading but any dancing his sisters had taught him would not help him here. "You said you took classes, does this seem right at all?" He asked, laughing a little.

The music wasn't exactly his taste either but it's not like Theo had much choice in the matter.

Still swaying and moving as best they could to the music the longer they did it the less awkward it got. "Third year, huh. Well that's cool. I'm a fifth year myself. Have you had a chance to visit Hogsmeade yet?"

Okay, this wasn't good. Yes, Rhea wasn't hinting at any sort of emotion with her flat tone, but that was clear proof that she was upset about it all. It was so like her to keep herself so composed and emotionally in-check. "You're his girlfriend, I think you had a right to ask.." Hopefully she wouldn't take that the wrong way. How come it seemed everyone's love lives were going to shambles lately?

Milo came into the classroom where the dance lessons were to be held and looked around for his girlfriend. He was late. Like reeeeeally late and she was probably going to be mad at him for having to wait for so long.

Spotting her blonde tresses, the boy smiled and went over to her, wrapping his arms around her from behind.

"Guess who?" he murmured in her ear gently.

Ohhh.

There wasn't just her then? Simon was one popular firstie, she had to admit that.Putting her hands up, Sarah stepped back slightly.She didn't want to step on anyone's toes...that would come later - when she found a partner. "It's okay, Simon.This girl asked you first, I can wait over here until you're finished....If you want to dance eventually that is?" She had no idea if he would.She was, after all, a taller, older, girl....who he probably found scary.

Violet smiled as they began dancing. She giggled a bit at his question. "Yeah, it looks like were doing it right. I've seen worse." she replied.

"Awesome, I know some fifth years. But no sadly I haven't visited there yet, I might soon but I don't know. I went a lot last term though." she replied. Ah, this dancing all wasn't too hard after all.

Emmy took the proffered hand, and smiled back. What a lovely smile... she thought, as her heart gavea little flutter. I wonder if he's got a girlfriend? But she quelled that thought immediately he's waaay too old for you! "Um, nice to meet you, too Keltan! I'm afraid I haven't waltzed before, so I hope you can! By the way, what year are you?"

Rhea resisted the urge to sigh, if she did it would be sad and she couldn't risk exposing any sort of emotion, one crack in the dam could break the flood gates and she told herself that she was not going to cry, so she continued waltzing along to the music gracefully with Aiden, He clearly didn't need the help.

"I suppose, but we haven't been official all that long anyways and with how Art's family is, I suppose it's for a good reason. I don't like to pry, unless it's in your life that is." She managed a weak attempt at her usual smirk but couldn't help but feel like it came out as more of a grimace. She hoped not. She grew up in an upper middle class family and Art well his was upper upper class, so if her family was so drama free and hush hush about everything, she was sure that his was much worse.

Trixie jumped as someone came up behind her. But as she turned she spotted that face she wanted to find so much. "Milo" she almost squealed. "Where have you been? I was stuck with Oliver" she said jokingly. Nah she loved being with oliver especially as they were so alike and both complete show offs when it came to dance. "Doesn't matter now. Your here" she grinned. Now he just had to ask her the question then they could dance.

Delilah smiled. "Looks like you're quite popular..." She said. "I'm Delilah." She held out her hand for him to shake.

Dylan could do with someone to dance with, but he wasn't too bothered. He could bop by himself. Not that you would call that learning how to dance. He didn't need a girl really. He watched Chris and Gold dancing. Ok he needed someone to dance with.

Evan blinked at the people dancing, trying his best not to look at Marie's side. So this was how it was going to be at the ball, too? Then no thanks, he'd skip it. It wasn't like he was afraid of girls or anything, he was afraid of dancing. He never had the ability to dance well, and he didn't see it changing now, just because there was a ball coming at full gallop!. He sank in his chair even deeper. It looked like he should find a girl too, but every girl seemed to have a partner now, which suited him better. Eyeing the door, he wondered if they were allowed to leave. 'Cause he didn't think he could learn dancing in one lesson, therefore he wasn't going to ask a girl now. Not to mention all had sweet partners who could dance.

Kel half smiled as he put his hand on Emmy's left shoulder blade. "I know how to waltz." he assured her, kind of grimacing as he said it. He knew how to do a lot of dances, sadly. Curse his mother.

"Just go like this..." he trailed off, showing her how to do the dance, a bit slower than the music that was playing so that she could get the hang of it. "Oh, and I'm a sixth year. Ravenclaw." In case she couldn't tell from the Ravvie badge on his robes. Way to point out the obvious, Kel.

Simon looked at Sarah appologetic. "Well people know I can dance." Simon smiled. "Hi Delilah, I'm Pr.." Oh he wasn't at a ball or anything they didn't need to know that. "I'm Simon Leonarder De Simpson." Simon smiled. "But you can just call me Simon." He shook hands with her. "So do you want to dance?"

Aw, no. No, no, no. Rhea definitely deserved better than that. Her boyfriend couldn't just go run off randomly right before the ball. Not that he could help whatever happened with his family, but still. He smiled slightly at her attempt to make light of it all by poking fun at him. "Pry away." He continued dancing, only realizing now that the steps had sort of came back to him easier than he had expected. Heh. Well, he'd have to thank Madison this summer; she was the reason behind his being somewhat decent at it. "Well, I'm sorry about Art. I'm sure he regrets it already.."

Mina was starting to get a bit worried. There had to be someone without a partner. She did want to make a good impression at the Ball and that required she knew how to dance. Seriously, she didn't want to be one of those wallflowers or something.

Looking back towards where all the boys were, she craned her head. There had to be someone willing to ask her. Or maybe she would just have to walk over and ask a boy herself. It was just a dance and nothing serious.

Emmy looked at another couple nearby, and copied the girl's stance, and placed her hands accordingly. "Do you dance a lot then? I love dancing... I actually have lessons at home, but we hardly ever do partner dances..." Although it was completely different to the style of dance she was used to, it was surprisingly easy to pick up. As she became more sure of herself, and relaxed a little - but not too much! - she said "Ravenclaw, huh? I'm Hufflepuff myself... I thought you were older than me - I'm only a second-year you see!" Babbling again, Emmy - it really doesn't suit you! She hoped her age wouldn't put him off, as he really was a fantastic dancer - Emmy just hoped she could live up to his standards...

Taking a few more steps, Evelyn looked up at the boy, wondering if she should answer the question honestly or not. Well, he did ask. "I was, but he doesn't seem to be here. So..." Shrugging her shoulders, the Slytherin stopped walking when they were good enough away from the benches and, well, in a good spot where it wasn't so crowded, before taking one more peak around at everyone.

People dancing, people...not dancing, then there was Destiny, who was partners with Raiden? Bahahaha! Perhaps that'll do her some good. "He's probably off exploring or something as usual." she muttered, before looking back to him. And to think she hoped that he would've come? Now THAT was laughable. But, not is not the time to dwell on the matter. There was quite an important question she needed to ask. "Are you a good dancer?"

Rhea chuckled. Thank goodness for friends. She shook her head while smiling at him. He would get off easy today since she was down in the dumps about Art not being around.

"I won't pry today actually, you've hit a stroke of luck." She continued dancing, now she remembered why she continued going to those parties even though she hated them and was forced by her mother, ballroom dancing was fun.

She shook her head slightly again. She didn't want him feeling sorry for her or anything, besides she had already made up her mind to spend the evening in the common room with a good book. The lake was out of the question though she would much rather spend it there, because she would definitely be able to hear the music from there and she just didn't want to hear it.
"It's ok. I'm not going to the ball anyways. Tolkien and I have a date in the common room." There was no one she was going to dress up and go to the ball and stand around like..like..she just couldn't.

Delilah laughed. "I'd love to, Simon." She said. Her smile dropped a little and she bit her lip. "I'm not completely sure how though..."

Kate giggled.

Great! I´m thinking about dresses when NOBODY asked me to dance...and obviously I would not have a parter for the Ball...I shouldn´t go... she thought

Maddie sighed and pressed herself closer to the wall so as not be trampled by the dancing couples. Although hiding seemed a good idea at the moment. Yes, she liked the sound of that... where to hide? Or maybe she should just leave. That would work too.

"My mom taught me to dance." Kel answered, his voice coming out a bit mutter-ish. "I've been waltzing forever." As he said this, he dropped his hand from Emmy's back, twirled her around once, then brought her back in and put his hand back on her shoulder.

He couldn't help but smile at the girl. "I don't know many Hufflepuffs." he mused, picking up the pace of their dance, so that they matched the music's tempo. "So you're... twelve? Thirteen?" he asked curiously, leading them slowly to a less-crowded spot on the dance floor/Great Hall.

As they danced, Chris felt Gold move very gracefully in front of him and wondered what they looked like to the other people. Gold, graceful as a bird and him thundering along behind her.

Continuing to do the same steps and turns over and over so that he wouldn't mess up Chris continued to think over the dance. Did Gold have to do this much thinking in order to dance like this? No she had to do at least double what he was doing. Then a more important thought had hit him. He was kind of dating Gold, and all of this dance stuff (the food committee and the dance lessons) should have shook his brain enough to remind him he still had to do something.

'ASK HER!!!' the not-so-little voice in his head seemed to scream at him. After clearing his throat and looking down into her deep, green eyes Chris spoke up. "Gold," another turn around and step step. "I was wondering if you wanted to you know," pause for dramatic effect. "Go to the Ball with me?" he said through a shy little grin.

"Well it's easy." Simon smiled as he looked at Delilah. "I have been dancing since I was four." Simon was great at dancing and so he could hopefully be able to teach Delilah a few dance moves." Simon was glad that this was one lesson he should be good at.
