Dance Lessons

The Great Hall has been cleared of all tables and benches, thus allowing for ample space to practice dancing in lieu of the upcoming Alumni Ball. A single table is off to one side and on it is an old fashioned record player. Next to the record player is your dance instructor, Professor Vindictus.

Welcome and please have a seat for the lesson will begin shortly.

OOC: Please keep the chat to a minimum as we await for people to arrive. :)

Hmmm, dance lessons. Well, it can't hurt, right, Maddie thought to herself. Though she could already dance. She'd had tp, at home. Ugh, the Waltz was boring.
'Hallo, Proffessor' she said happily, taking a seat.

Lottiepot 06-08-2010 08:22 PM

Trixie didn't fully know why she was actually here? Her mother had recently informed her that she had been trained in 7 styles of dancing since she was 3 since, well she couldn't remember that. But her talent always seemed to flow naturally back to her, so this time she was able to beat the memory loss. Still, this looked like immense fun and so she turned up, just to show everyone what she had. And well she hoped Milo would show up too. What was his dancing like? Oh dear.

"Hello Professor. How are you today?" she asked with a gentle smile.

Emzily 06-08-2010 08:25 PM

How horrible was this? Dance lessons? ..It was especially worse because she knew she didn't have a date for the ball yet. Maybe she wouldn't go. But she had to come here anyway. Noticing Trixie, Ella approached her but didn't say anything. She just stared at the scenery around them with a vacant expression. When could they leave?

Roselyn 06-08-2010 08:32 PM

Bahahaha! Evelyn was only coming to laugh at everyone else. No, really, she was. Secretly of course. Deep down inside...

Smiling, and holding in a snicker, the Slytherin made her way into the room and stood off to the side with her arms crossed. Spotting the Professor near a record player however, she was a bit surprised to see who it was. Professor Vinny? Teaching dance lessons?

Never thought that would happen. "Hello Professor." she said finally, before looking around.

Cedric 06-08-2010 08:39 PM

Figuring that he probably definitely needed to brush up on his dancing before he went to any ball, Aiden decided to go to this dance lesson thing. He may have been dreading it right now, but in the back of his mind, he knew it'd come in handy. The Gryffindor walked further into the Great Hall, noticing the record player on the table off to the side. He spotted Trixie and Ella a bit aways from him, then turned his attention to Professor Vindictus.

Davvy_Wavvy 06-08-2010 08:39 PM

Rhea hadn't gone dance since that summer when her and Tori went to Norse-Laggen and they had that ball. She could still remember that beautiful gold gown that she wore. The thought of that evening alone was enough to encourage her to come out to dance lessons even though she was already a pretty good dancer. It never hurt to get better though. Besides she could never compare to Art in dancing. Sigh, best not to think about Art, she wouldn't be seeing him around for a while, anyways, dancing that's why she was here. She looked at the professor and could hardly picture him dancing, then again he might surprize them all.
"Hello Professor," she said walking in.

harrypottterbroadway 06-08-2010 08:42 PM

Ew. Dance lessons. Keeley had no idea why she was here, as she had no coordination whatsoever and no boy was going to invite her to the dance. But she was here anyway, and maybe it would be entertaining. Probably not, but maybe.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 06-08-2010 08:45 PM

Vashti...wasn't really sure why she was attending this. She couldn't dance - she knew this for a fact - and she supposed it would be fun to learn...but this was for the ball, wasn't it? And she wasn't sure if she would even attend that. Invite people and encourage them that they'd have a good time, sure. She was on the Invitation Committee after all. But she didn't know if she'd actually attend herself for, well, many reasons that she didn't want to admit, aside from the lack of dancing ability.

Hopefully she wouldn't make a total fool of herself here, especially since her Head of House was apparently the one who would teach them. That would not be fun at all.

iBeJenn 06-08-2010 09:16 PM

Selena had take dance lessons before. Ballroom dance. She didn't know why she was even in here, she wasn't going to be attending the ball anyways. It would be a waste of her time. She glanced around the room. Not much people yet. She sighed and took a seat. At least she liked dance... right?

Kris 06-08-2010 10:08 PM

Alex hardly liked dancing..but it was something to do, after all she already had lessons when she was a little girl. She glanced around entering the room before taking a sit next to Selena smiling slightly at her, at least she knew one person that she talked to often here.

DANNNNNNNCING!

OHMIGOSH!

If Oliver were a girl, he would be squeeeing like a little one right now.. but he wasn't, so he refrained, albeit with a struggle, from doing so.

Heh.

Channelling John Travolta circa Saturday Night Fever, the Slytherin Captain strutted into the Great Hall with A Massive grin plastered across his face. “Hello, Sir.” He said brightly to Vindictus, a little surprised to see that he was running this show here and not some female professor, but hey, this was going to be oh so awesomely awesome.

Trixie spotted oliver and Aiden enter the room as well as her cousin who had said nothing. Woah wait? Oliver was here? She giggled and indicated to Ella that she was going over to speak to him. "Given up the Quidditch for dancing now have we?" she whispered laughing slightly. oh she can just imagine oliver stood there dancing.

EllaKins! 06-08-2010 10:25 PM

Blech, dance lessons. She looked around at the others. Violet didn't really want dance lessons she had done some dance lessons when she was little but still needed some practice. She just patiently went to a seat and sat down, until she realised who the professor teaching was. Professor Stric-Vindictus?!
Hehe. Well this was definatly awkward now. She gave him a little smile. "Hi professor!" she said brightly.

Stormdancer 06-08-2010 10:28 PM

With Nancy by his side, Steven slipped into the Great Hall. His right hand was around Nancy's left and he smiled at the way her ring felt against his grasp. Geez, he loved her. He was so happy that she had accepted the day before; he hadn't stopped smiling yet. He wasn't truly sure if he ever would. They walked fully into the room, and he moved to stand behind her, his hands around her waist. "Hey Professor." He said with a grin before he kissed the top of Nancy's head.

William had no idea why he was there; it wasn't like he was going to dance anyway. He'd probably just stand to the side and watch anyway. Spotting Keeley he grinned however, making his way over to her with a smile. "Hey Keeley." he said standing beside her a bit awkwardly. He nodded to Prof. V with a sheepish grin wondering why he of all people were teaching them.

Keeley smiled as she saw William looking just as awkward as she did. YAY! It was always comforting to know that she wasn't the only one totally out of place here. Heck, she'd probably trip at least five times during this little lesson thing. "Hiya, William" she smiled, wondering why their head of house was going to teach ballroom dancing. Well, the outcome would be pretty funny. (Or scary)

Oliver smiled at Trixie as she approached him and raised an eyebrow in mock disdain. Like, was it really that surprising that Oliver Greenwood liked dancing? He chuckled at her comment and shook his head. “Nope. But this stuff helps on the Quidditch pitch, believe me.” He whispered back. “So what about you? You can remember to dance, can you?” Smirk. Or was that why she was here? To learn?

This was going to be embarrassing on SO MANY levels.

As much as Sarah was looking forward to the Ball, it was more for that fact she'd get to wear a gorgeous dress, than get to dance. She couldn't dance. Not even a little bit.But that was the point of this lesson, and as a Prefect she had to go.Meh.

What she wasn't expecting though was to see Professor Vindictus hosting the proceedings.Like...WHAT? Sarah stood and blinked several times as she entered the Hall.Shaking her head, she smiled in greeting at him. "Heyy Professor....Sir." WEIRD.

That was when she spotted Oliver. All confident looking, stood over to the side.Did he need dancing lessons? Huh.Creeping over to him, Sarah tapped him on the shoulder, and whispered so no-one else could hear. "Hide me.I don't want to do this..."

Holmesian Feline 06-08-2010 10:38 PM

Ok so when he had first saw the notice for dance lessons Simon nearly laughed at the thought. Why would he want to learn how to dance especially anything that required lessons plural. But the more he thought about it over time, the Gryffindor teenager debated whether or not it would in truth be worth it.

Discretely making his way down from the common room to the Great Hall to see about at least checking the set up out, Simon noticed a few of those who entered the hall as he reached the bottom of the steps including one that was part of a couple.

You call yourself a brave lion and act afraid of a little dancing his inner self berated himself as he walked across the entryway to the doors. Can't hurt in case I do go at the end of term he added with a shrug before casually slipping into the Great Hall. Noticing who was to be teaching them Simon relaxed in his final decision as he nodded to Professor Vindictus and made his way off to one side.

Luna Laufghudd 06-08-2010 10:39 PM

Dance lessons.

No wait, WHY WAS SHE HERE!? (...her duties demanded it of her? *snort*)

oH Merlin... Miranda cringed as she walked inside the great hall. This was STUPID. Seriously.

WHY WAS SHE HERE!? (To be all good role model crap...Right? )

Miranda gave the Professor a sort of smile grimace...and...looked like she had eaten whatever the tail of her broom had picked up.

She could just WATCH...right?

Merlin.

Trixie rolled her eyes. "Of course it does Oliver. You believe that" she whispered teasingly. Well if he was telling the truth then she would be pretty good on the pitch then wouldn't she? "Oh shut up Oliver, I haven't forgotten everything you know. Dancing is a talent I have had for a very long time. It's not something I can easily forget. Memory loss hasn't effected my movement"she whispered again poking her tongue out at the end.

William grinned, "Did you know that he could ballroom dance?" He asked curiously, glancing again at the head of House with a quirked up eyebrow. At least this wasn't a full fledged class, or at least he thought it wasn't. If there was one thing William was good at, it was standing still and looking cool. Dancing while looking cool was another thing altogether, and he really wasn't looking forward to it, but it was important. Kind of.

Emma smiled as she entered the Great Hall. "Hello Professor!" she greeted cheerily as she walked in. Dance lessons! Yay! Maybe we could learn something fun!, she thought. She saw Sel, and Alex sitting together, she waved to them and went over to sit by them. She looked an saw her cousin Trixie and waved to her. She wondered how Trixie was going, she was hanging out with the Quidditch captain, Oliver and some other people she didn't know.

Angie 06-08-2010 10:46 PM

Well.

Well.

WELL.

Jack quietly slipped inside the hall and went to stand in the very back of the room with her back lightly pressed against the wall. Not wanting to stand out because she really didn't want to be the first one to be asked to dance or ... whatever, she took of the ribbons she'd tied at the ends of her braids.
