They did'nt make such a bad pair. Sure he was on his knees kneeling in bunny slippers, but niether of them had fallen, tripped, or stepped on the other ones feet. Which meant it was all good. She mentaly kept up with his beat counts, mouthing the numbers as she carefully let him lead her in slow circles, her eyes on her feet and his knees. This was the only good thing about dancing, that the guys had to lead. Otherwise this dance might not have turned out so well.

They were getting it. They were dancing! Sort of. But well enough. She seemed to like his verbal counting, so he kept it up. The only thing to be mindful of now, was not tripping someone else with his long legs. So he did his best to steer them into abandoned sections of the great hall. The less people, the less mess. And he had to admit, he was kind of enjoying this. It was...fun. A little awkward in how they had set it up, but...fun.

Rae smiled widely, who knew that this year was going to be the best she could ask for? Who knew that she would meet HIM! Rae was so crazy for this kid. She took his hand with her wrapped up one. For some reason she wasn't nervous about making a fool of herself. She was perfectly comfortable around him. "Did I tell you that i'm totally in love with you?" Because if she didn't through with that before, she would now.

She was seriously making him want to kiss her. Seriously. Xylon resisted the urge and grinned down at her. "I think so," he said, placing his right arm on her shoulder blade and offering her his other hand.

"You'll need to adjust," he told her quietly. What he wanted to do right now was to throw caution to the winds, lift her up and spin her around. "Your left hand on my upper left arm."

Perhaps Destiny should have been a little more enthusiastic about this dancing thing. The way she accepted the dance must have made her sound like a jerk, and even though she was at times, she didn't mean to sound like one..this time.

As she was moved to the dance floor, she secretly wished that she was able to escape. If only she had thought of that plan sooner, she would not be standing there with Raiden about to make a fool of herself. Great.

"Yeah, I had a plan and everything." she gestured her head towards the door out of the Hall. So close yet so far. Further now, since they moved to the middle of the Hall. Slightly relieved that he didn't know how to dance either, she looked up and gave a smile, "It's okay. I never did this either." Unless you consider breaking out in an occasional sprinkler type dance, but that doesn't happen in front of people.

She was hesitant at taking his hand, for fear of the cooties, but since he was much older than Carter, he had to be cootie free. It was just the way these things worked. "I'll try not to step on your toes, either." she said, and finally took his hand. Well, she wasn't sick yet..

"What do we do now?" Since he was the boy and all, he was supposed to lead..or something.

She was enjoying herself, and it was clearly showing on her face as they danced. Because she was watching their feet/knees, she didn't notice that they had moved away from most of the students until a few moments later. Eyes glancing around briefly at the other students, she grinned at Sabel. "And you said you couldn't dance." Well she had said that, but he had implied it.

Smiling Sabel shook his head. "I can't. Technically, you're dancing, I'm...knee-waltzing." Yes, he was going to put a patent on that label and sell bunny slippers along with it. "And if I recall, you said you couldn't dance. Ooookkay missy." Grin grin.

As more and more people crowded to the center, Christopher grew more and more uneasy. Now it seemed there were less and less people on his side of the wall. Moments ago, it had seemed like the wise thing to wait and try the 'let them come to you approach' but fortunately/unfortunately? that didn't seem to be working.

Now his brethren were succumbing to feminine wiles and making their way across the room to ask for their hand to dance, leaving him one of the few guys left. Dragging a hand through, his hair he stood up a little straighter aware now of the acute out numbering of girl to guy ratio.

And most of the guys had already been asked...and quite frankly most of the girls for that matter.

Never one to be outdone, Christopher quickly analyzed the possibilities. He could either A. stay here against the wall and wait for someone to ask him, B. leave and risk his Head of House's wrath, or C....he could actually ask someone. Ask someone and risk rejection. Rejection..bah.

Since when did he fear that. If he was going to do this, then he was going to enjoy himself. And how did CJ best enjoy himself...well with a challenge of course. Hiding his fear of rejection behind a mask of overconfidence, he strode across the room and made a great show of looking around, rolling his eyes, and then heading in a direction at 'random.'

Making it seem for all the world as if he'd headed this way as a last resort. Because he didn't know anybody else...which was mostly true. Standing before supply list girl, no she had a name, Ivory he corrected himself mentally, he gave her his crooked grin and extended a hand.

"So I wonder...after falling and tripping," He caught himself at the last minute since he'd been about to say 'for me' and continued casually."- so many times would you give me a chance to return the favor?" He meant of course that he'd give her the chance to trip him and for him to fall for a change. But of course she didn't know he knew how to dance, there'd be no falling on his part. Hopefully it would be a surprise. Maybe even a pleasant one.

"Oh uhh... Right.." Rae looked at her hands, then put her left one on his arm. Now having the confusion of what to do she kinda looked at her wrapped right arm. Then sighed with the defeat of having no clue about what she was doing. She laughed softly at her own stupidity. Rae stared into Xylons eyes, waiting for him to do something, or nothing at all, she was fine with that too.

Good Lord, if they hadn't been in class he would have kissed her. He needed to stop looking at her or he really, really would. But how could he possibly bring himself to do that? Xylon shook his head at the fact and ----- noticed her arm. He had just realized it was wrapped up. Because he had been too busy trying not to look into her eyes before. Why was it wrapped up?

"Rae," his eyes flickered with concern. "What's wrong with your arm?"

Forget the dance.

Sammy stood up stuff this waiting around I'm dancing by myself she thought adjusting herself so it looked like she was dancing with someone. She didn't care if she was known as the 'crazy hufflepuff firstyear that dances with herself' at least she could laugh at her own stupidity

Rae had been staring at his eyes too long, she had barely noticed what he had said Hmm? Oh! Well it's really nothing, but Destiny, Evelyn, and I went pillow sliding in the second floor corridor.... And my handstand sliding turned into crashing with the wall and might've...." Rae slowed down because she didn't want to be dragged to the healer or him to worry. "Broken.. My..Wrist.. But don't worry, because i've had a broken wrist before, and i know how to treat it without a healer."

Okay. Alright. So neither of them had done this before. That... that was good. So if they messed up, they'd both be able to laugh it off.

He glanced at the people next to them, noting their stance and where hands and arms were.

"Like they're doing, I guess," he murmured, moving his right hand to her waist. "And you put your arm... up like that?"

They could totally do this. Raiden was more coordinated than Sabel so... at the very least, he wouldn't fall over or knock her down.

Oliver glanced over at Miranda to see her giving him a look. What? She looked hella uncomfortable and Oliver gave her a soft reassuring smile. Meh – she'd be fine and even if she couldn't dance this class would be fun. Turning back to Trixie, he crinkled his nose at her words. As much as the Snake!Boy liked to show off, Trixie was just putting him on the spot here. He raised one eyebrow.. like he could refuse her. He was about to go into his moonwalk when Vindictus started the class. Oh what a shame. Heh.

Haha! Prefects in the middle – poor old Sarah. Oliver patted her shoulder before he headed off to the left hand side of the room with all the other boys. He watched the interaction between all the prefects with vague amusement.

Oooh.. and now they had to go ask someone they didn't know to dance? Frown. Could the Captain really handle being rejected twice in one day? He pouted a bit but then his expression brightened when he spotted that pretty blonde bombshell that was Brody (le sigh) Summers... and no Torin. 'Excellent'. Yeah, he knew her but what the hey.

“Sooo...” He said nonchalantly as he approached the pretty blondie girl. “Would m'lady care to dance?” And he bowed his head slightly. Should this be embarrassing? Because Oliver wasn't which surprised even himself considering he was asking Brody Summers to dance. If it was Cam, would he be a nice shade of Gryffindor red right now? Eh.. he inwardly shook his head. Cam was his FRIEND! His friend dammit!

Oh Merlin....

Brody like dancing, she had learnt from a small age, so she was pretty good, but still it was interesting standing here and watching everyone dance. She didn't know where Torin was...so she kind of didn't have a partner yet. She had spotted Oliver sitting opposite her as they have been sitting down before, but she really had no idea where he had gone. So that was kind of stuffed as well really.

oh...but here he was. She smiled as he came over to her, because she knew what he was going to ask. "Hey Oliver." She spoke in a friendly way, so that she wouldn't make him too nervous hehe. "Ermmm...." She giggled, becauase him bowing his head like that made her giggle. "That would be very nice." She smiled at him. Well this was going to be interesting. Could Oliver even dance?

Torin needed a partner now. Hmm. He just spotted Brody and was about to ask her when Oliver came in.

"Could I have a dance after? Or no?" He wouldn't really mind if she didn't. He could always go see if someone else wanted to.

He just didn't want to be a loner.

'Ermmmm?' What kind of a response was that? Still, the girl's giggling was hella cute and it made Oliver smile. Brody was... such a nice person. And she agreed! Woot!

Would Cameron have if she was here?

Back to Brody... focus on Brody.. pretty blonde Brody with that giggle of hers. Now the question was... could this broad dance?

“Great.” He replied and offered her his hand to take. “You know how to waltz, right?” He eyed her. Surely she did – she was from the same sort of family as himself. It sort of came with the territory.

And then.. sigh... Torin appeared on the scene. Oliver had to force himself not to pull a face. Every time – EVERY!TIME he went near Brody Summers, there was the Huffie prefect. Maan. “It's alright, mate. You dance with her.” He told the older boy and dropped his hand to his side feeling suddenly rather dejected.

Pout.

Who else could he ask?

Brody actually giggled again when he asked if she could waltz. Could she waltz? Was he seriously joking. "Oliver....of course I can." The blonde beamed at him, as she nudged him with a little grin. She did come from a family that had dancing as a background. She had been taught to ballroom dance when she was a small child. "I'm assuming you can?" She grinned at him. They came from the same sort of family, so she assumed he would be ablle to dance she hoped that he could anyway, or they were going to look a little silly.

Oh....Torin was here. She frowned at him, before smiling. She should have known that he would want to dance with her. But what? Oliver was going to let him? "No Oliver...it's okay...you asked me first." She smiled at him, before turning to Torin. "We'll see? You can always dance with me at the ball right?" She smiled. Surely he wouldn't get jealous?

He was about to tell Oliver that it was okay when Brody beat him to it. He just shrugged at her. "Yeah, it's fine. I'm going with you anyway." He walked off so that he could find another partner. But who?

Nancy had very subtly - *cough* - hid behind her boyfriend as Vindictus told the Prefects to join him at the front. No way was she going to demonstrate something involving dancing. No way. Unless they really wanted a Slytherin Keeper with a broken leg...or two broken legs probably. Which was why she had NOT gone to the front. Even though, it turned out that Gold, Chris, Cela and Miles didn't have to do any dancing. Yet. Which reminded her...where were the other Prefects? Scanning the hall Nancy noticed Sarah who it seemed had hid too to escape the embarrassment. Hehe, good, which meant she wasn't the only one.

Oh, crap! Well, it was to be expected right? This were DANCE lessons after all. Which meant the would have to dance at some point. Still, this was going to be mega-embarrassing. And probably a little dangerous. For her AND for Steven. Better not show off your dancing-skills - or lack of rather - in front of everyone. Which was why Nancy simply grabbed Steven's arm and dragged him off to a place where there were more people. Like that they wouldn't be seen that easily right? "So, would you like to dance?" She asked him with a little curtsey, her blue eyes twinkling in amusement. Heh, now hopefully HE knew how to waltz because she certainly did not.

Not at all.

Emmy stood alone, watching all the other couples twirling sedately about the room, wishing she had a partner. There were plenty of boys still the other side of the room, but not one of them looked as if he was about to ask her to dance - which meant she would have to pluck up the courage and ask one herself. Oh, cripes. Here comethe nerves, the sweaty palms, the racing pulse... Get a grip, girl! Steeling herself, she cast another look around... Aha! She wended her way across to the other side of the room, and tapped a random boy on the arm. "Hello!" she said cheerily, and rather more confidently than she felt, "Um, neither of us seem to have a partner... Would you dance with me?" PLEEEEEEEAAAASE say yes! she thought desperately, as she waited for his reply.

Aww.. more giggling. How nice.

Brody's words made Oliver feel a little dumb for asking her that question. Of course she could dance and it was rather insulting for anyone to think otherwise. He grinned back when she elbowed him. “Is that dance etiquette?” He teased and raised an eyebrow. He nodded... yeah, he could dance.... like Michael Jackson but that wasn't going to work here during a waltz now was it? Heh. Maybe he could improvise.

He noticed the look Brody gave Torin and looked away from the pair. Awwwwkward. Wait? She didn't want to dance with her own boyfriend? Oliver blinked and looked at Torin feeling a little bit bad now. He hadn't seen the dude in the class and if he had, he would have thought twice about asking Brody to dance. But the prefect seemed ok with it.. and Oliver patted him on the back as he wandered off. “You can have her when I'm done.” He smirked and then focused back on Brody, his green eyes glinting with pure mischief.

Bad Snake!Boy.

Out went the left hand again for Brody to take. “M'lady.” He smirked.

Destiny turned to look at the people next to her to see how exactly this dance was done. Why did Professor Vinny have to pick a dance that involved touching? Probably because he was crazy.. And she knew he liked to torture people, especially children.

As Raiden placed his hand on her waist, she placed her left hand on his shoulder.

Well..

This was awkward.

She gave a shrug of her shoulders as she looked at the people next to her once more. She was doing it right, right? It was kind of hard to tell what they were doing actually, since they just kept spinning. If she looked any longer, she was sure to get dizzy. "Now we just..spin?"

Maybe this dance wasn't so hard after all.

Brody did feel a little bad, when she watched her boyfriend walk off, but Oliver had asked her first, and it would have been a little mean if she had suddenly decided that she didnt really want to dance with him anyway. And she wasn't really a mean person. She smiled at Oliver, as she watched Torin walk away. It didnt matter if she danced with either of them really....it was only a lesson.

"Oh how kind of you to give me back to him when you're done." Brody smirked at her friend. She did like to spend time with her friends as much as she liked to spend time with her boyfriend, so she didn't really care if Oliver wanted to dance with her for the whole lesson. "And yes Oliver....that was dancing etiqutte" She giggled as she took his left hand. "You know....Oliver were like not in the olden days...you can call me by my name."

So she probably should've been paying attention...

But alas, the Gryffindor had been staring into space for a good 45 minutes and it's only when she noticed people stepping on her toes while twirling around randomly that she connected they were meant to be doing something.
Meanwhile, her brain took another 30 seconds to realise the random twirling was actually dancing. Why were they dancing?

But she realised that she'd get caught not doing what she was supposed to. Now.. to do this.. dancing thing. Oh. With a partner?
Lame.
So not only did she have to actually coordinate her body but she also had to find another human being to dance with?

Drat.

Where to find another human being?

No, she hadn't noticed there was a class full of them

So in her oblivion, she got up and had to side-step the other coupley peoples as they waltzed by. Somehow ending up in the centre of the room she saw Torin.. the prefecty dude. He was suitable and at least she knew him.
Tapping him gently on the shoulder, she bit her lip, "Err... would you like to dance?"
