Torin scanned the people in the room, trying to find someone that he knew so that he could dance with them. Because it sure beat asking a stranger.

When there was a tap on his shoulder, he was surprised to see that it was Cameron asking him if he wanted to dance.

She was... weird. Very weird. But he didn't really mind her.

"Of course I would." Now he wouldn't be a loner anymore.

Cameron frowned when he gave her that look. You know the one. The 'Gosh, you're weird but I don't have any other choice.' Or what she (in her incredible perceptibility skills) detected to be so.
But he didn't seem too repulsed .. which would evidently change once he realised she had two left feet and didn't know what to do with either of them. But the red-head thought she had some grace left in her.
Taking his hand, she looked around the class awkwardly. Her eyes landed on Oliver and he was dancing with someone else.

Aww.

She felt a weird pang but quashed it before she noticed something else.

Wasn't that..

"Isn't that Brody? Your girlfriend?" Cameron was oblivious but she'd managed to hear that ongoing tidbit of information. Those two were Hogwarts BiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiG couple. Sure, Cameron was strange but she didn't live under a rock!

He wasn't sure why she frowned at him, but then figured that maybe she understood his reaction to her. And that made him feel sorta bad because he really didn't mind being her partner.

He held her hand and started to lead her to the middle of the dance floor when she mentioned Brody. "Yeah, that's her. She's dancing with Oliver because he asked her first." And he didn't really care all that much because it wasn't like they weren't going to the ball together. And he wanted to dance with Cameron.

"Wait, how did you know that she's my girlfriend?" He stopped walking and turned to her, raising his brow. He never even told her that he had a girlfriend.

Nia felt especially awkward as she stood there watching the others get partners. Why couldn't Elan be here, and whisk her away on to the dance floor? Le sigh. Even a lot of the younger ones had been ask to dance. Meh. Why had she come anyway? She could be doing doing interesting like working on strategies for the upcoming Quidditch match - but no, she'd decided to put herself through this. Cue eyeroll.

She watched Cela waltz round and gave a small smile. Shame Nia wasn't confident enough to do that. Without a partner. She'd look all gangly and probably end up tripping herself up. Arghhhhh! This was just not good. But she couldn't exactly walk out with her head of house running the lesson. Surely somebody would want to ask the Ravvie Captain for a dance?

Everyone was here, Abbi wasn't over exaggerating but EVERYONE is was there. She couldn't breath! The room felt small and there was no air, all the kids breathed all the air that was left.

Initially she wasn't sure if this was mandatory or not, but heck everyone was here so she assumed it was. Standing with her hands knotted behind her back she kept a cool expression about her, she wasn't cool. She was terrified!

Dance lessons?



She stood there watching everyone dance, she knew no one would ask an ickle first year then again alot of these kids were dating so she was going to stand out, most definitely. Her and that Ravenclaw prefect who was dancing with someone? Abbi leaned closer and closer then frowned. How could it be possible? Can someone go invisible?

Unconsciously she took steps towards that invisible person and poked the air waiting for noise to appear, nothing. She frowned.

Cameron half-stumbled when he led her to the middle. Flushing profusely, she decided to gain some grace and straightened herself. When she looked back at the gorgeous blonde she wilted a little inside and her posture crumpled. Could she even compete?

Wait.. why was she competing?

Stoopid conscience..

"He asked her first?" Great. Just fabulous.

She snorted when he asked the question. Who didn't know they were going out? "You didn't have to. I heard it from the numerous gossip grape-vines of Hogwarts. You don't keep it under wraps and the gossips would never presume to do it for you, anyway." Her tone was a little bit harsh but she decided she didn't really have much to go with.

"What are we dancing?" She asked curiously, observing the weird swaying motion the other couples were sticking to.

He nodded at her first question. But it didn't really matter if Oliver asked Brody. He would be with her at the ball anyway. She was his date. hehe.

And now he blinked. "Wait, what? We're gossiped about?" He was confused. "Why would anyone gossip about us?" They were amazing, sure, but really? Why did people really want to talk about them?

"We're doing the waltz. Do you have any idea how to waltz?" He didn't take her to be the kind of girl that did this stuff. That was more Brody with her background and all.

Bella looekd around, She seriously had no partner. She was even wondering why she came. Oh yeah to learn how to dance. Looking aorund the room she frowned.

She was still wondering if she would actually get a date at all.

She bite her bottom lip.

Aw.

Cameron lifted up her chin indignantly. It didn't matter at all.. she thought.
She observed him curiously as he blinked. He looked rather silly. "Isn't that what I just said?" Duh.

At his latter question, Cameron shrugged. "To be honest, I wouldn't have a clue in all hallow. You're really not that interesting and it's the same stuff really - over and over and over again." But then she remembered.
"Then again, you're the Hufflepuff prefect and she's the gorgeous blonde and people don't have better things to do. Put it together you have the daily Brodin news reel." Was there a slight sigh as she'd said 'gorgeous blonde?' She really was, really pretty. Like.. stunning.

She decided they were cute together.

Teh what? Sure, she was a half-blood but .. she wasn't a girly girl. She knew the hocus pocus.. but that the extent of her dancing skills. She sometimes even forgot which foot went in when.

Silly left's and right's..

"Waltz," She repeated slowly like it she was learning a new language. "Er.." Should she lie and say she was an internationally renowned ballroom dancer? Perhaps not. She'd ruin the whole delusion within seconds by accidentally stepping on his toe.
"No. I wouldn't have a clue how to do this swaying/box step thing."

He wasn't paying attention to much of what she was saying to him now that she said that he wasn't very interesting. "I'm not very interesting? Thanks for the compliment." She wasn't very nice, was she? He liked her okay, and she was calling him boring. Ouch.

And typically she had no idea how to do the waltz. "Okay, I'll teach you." Hopefully this wouldn't be a total disaster.sd

Cameron frowned at his response, "Well not after I've heard about fifty billion times that you two held hands on the 3rd floor at precisely blahblah hours on blahblah day of blahblah months, no. Sorry to burst your bubble and all." There was not even a hint of apology in her tone.

Weirdly, he didn't bolt when she said she couldn't dance and she smiled gratefully. "Thanks." Now.. where to start?

Oliver chuckled naughtily, eyes glinting with amusement. He just couldn't help trying to wind people up could he? Except it always seemed a bit lost on Torin – the guy was far too laid back for his own good. Heh.

His eyebrow cocked once again. “Elbows to the ribs is part of this dancing shizz now?” He elbowed her back playfully and smiled when she took his hand. Her hands were, like, so.. soft. Had this girl ever done a days hard graft in her life? He looked down at their hands and back at the blonde. The waltz when done properly was supposed to be full body contact along the woman's right side and as much as Oliver would have liked that, he decided that it wasn't really necessary... or appropriate considering Torin was right over there with...

Oliver did a double take and then crinkled his nose. What!? Didn't the guy think she was the weirdest girl he'd ever met? Pout. Eyes back on Brody, he drew her closer and placed his hand on her shoulder blade. One, two, three.... and he began the first basic steps, leading Brody who was speaking to him. What? What was she saying? He glanced back over at the redhead then looked back at Brody. This was INSANE! Seriously. What the hell had got into him!? He forced a smile at her words. “Brody. Brody it is then... You could have danced with Torin you know?” Then Cameron wouldn't be with the charming and handsome Hufflepuff prefect right now. Jeez.

He raised his brow. "Well, maybe if you got to know me outside of gossip." He gave her a friendly smile, not really bothering to comment on the fact that he had no idea why people cared about his love life.

He held out his left hand for her to take with her right. "Right, I'll walk you through it as best I can." This kind of dancing wasn't his strong point. He was better at the less formal types.

Cadence needed a partner, but she wasn't about to go off and ask a boy to dance with her. No way. She had always been brought up to believe that it was the boy's job to ask the girl to dance. So, she continued sitting in her seat, waiting for someone to ask her. It wasn't like she needed to learn how to do this anyway. She was a ballroom dancing champion, so maybe it was better if she didn't dance with just ANY boy. It might make them really nervous.

Yeeep.... she was just going to keep waiting for someone to ask her.

Keeley had been glancing around the hall rather curiosly, seeing who found their partners first and who was trying to blend into the wall and make their escape. She really didn't think she'd be invited herself, and that she'd have to dance with another girl or watch or something. But then there was William... the Ravenclaw girl blushed slightly. "Of course." she smiled, figuring that her friend didn't have any other girl friends, as she certainly didn't have any other guy friends. Or was it something else..?

"Of course it is." Brody giggled, as she grinned at him. Oh he was pretty. Hehe. She was looking forward to having this dance with him. But her eyes did follow him over to where Torin was, and she saw him dancing with another girl. She smiled at the pair. Oh. Torin looked like he was having fun. hehe. She was glad that he wasn't too sour about her dancing with Oliver, she was allowed to have male friends hehe.
She also spotted Cela dancing around on her own, and it made her giggle a little. Oh Cela was something special...hehe.

Then she watched Oliver as they danced, quite well in her opinion hehe. They were good at his. "I wanted to dance with you though." She contradicted him with a smile. She liked dancing with people, especially her friends hehe. She did though see that Oliver looked a little distracted, and the blonde glanced over at Torin again. "You like her don't you?" She smirked at Oliver, with a little giggle. "I mean...the girl whos dancing with Torin?"

Emma stayed by Sel. She watched as others danced together. There was probably no way that I would be asked by anyone to dance!, she thought. She just held her hands and trying to stay calm looked out watching the others dance. Will Someone ask me?, she thought, a little nervous.

“Well I'll try not to stand on your feet.” Oliver teased. Nahh.. dancing was one of the few things he could actually do pretty well so he was quite confident about this.

He couldn't help smiling sweetly when Brody professed that she actually wanted to dance with him, and although he'd got over the dreamy eyed way he used to look at this girl weeks ago, his eyes glazed over a bit... cos it was Brody Summers and she WANTED to dance with him. Le sigh. “I'm glad.” He replied. “You're really good at it.” He complimented. Even though they were keeping things basic, her posture was good and Oliver didn't feel in danger of having his feet trampled at any moment... unlike Torin over there. Poor Cameron looked nervous, like she would rather be anywhere else than here. See? Oliver may be an egotistical cocky idiot but he knew how to act around that girl – throw in a few jokes to put her at ease and hell, he was a pretty patient person all in all if she decided to smack him one.

His eyes snapped back to Brody. 'What!?' How could she KNOW? He gave her a sheepish look. “No..” He replied weakly. “I mean, yeah.. but not like... that, you know? We're mates me and Cammy.” Cammy... oh Merlin. He was using pet names now? This was so bloody tragic.

Marie found it really hard not to laugh when Carter called her My Fair Lady. Instead of laughing though she played along and said, "Why thank you Kind SIr," as she took his arm and followed him out to the dance floor.

"Um, you do know what we need to do here... right? Because I have no clue what I am doing," she said once they were actually standing there amongst all the dancing couples. Including...

DESTINY!?

Whoa! Destiny was dancing with... Raiden!? "Well, looks like someone is getting over their fear of cooties," she said to Carter as she pointed out the dancing couple.

"You know you'll get a slap if you step on my feet." Brody giggled with a smile. Because she wouldn't really slap him, she'd just poke his chest, and then giggle a little. She didn't think he would really step on her toes, because she had a feeling that he was going to be good at this. He was Oliver Greenwood afterall.

She smiled as they danced around. Mmm. He was good at this. hehe. They were clearly one of the best couples out here, but it wasn't surprising seeing as they had both done it in there past. "You're good too...." She nodded with a little beam. She hadn't really doubted him, because he had that sort of aura. Good Dancer. Hehe. She glanced at Torin, as they passed him, and she was sort of glad that she was with Oliver. That girl didn't look that confident, and she really hoped that Torin's feet survived, because she probably would step on them hehe.
"Oh....I can read you like a book Oliver." She grinned at him, before giggling a little. "It is so clear that you like her....I mean....you're totally jealous of Torin." She smirked at him, before giggling again. "And Cammy? I'm assuming thats a pet name." hehe.

Kate looked at the couples dancing to the sound of the music...I sooo want to dance...

But she was a bit shy and didn´t know a LOT of people (and specially boys...) so she stood there, quiet, looking with wishing eyes and hoping some cute boy to ask her to dance....

He blinked and looked around for someone to ask to dance with. He was nervous and he was totally sure his fingers were sticky and his face probaly still had traces of sugar all around his mouth. He wiped at his mouth and rubbed his hands on his robes.

He looked around and his eyes landed on Abbi, though she was totally crazy at least she was still talking to him. He slowly walked over to her. "Um...yeah...wanna dance," he rushed to get it all out before he lost his nerve.

Sarah grunted at Oliver's question.Why WAS she here?! "Because the Prefect's were asked to be.Otherwise I'd avoid the embarrassmeeeeeeentttt..." She hadn't expected to be twirled around like that.And as her hair slapped into her face, she gave Oliver a funny look.Okay, the humiliation had started.

Wait, Miranda was here? The girl who didn't want to wear a dress was at DANCING LESSONS? Sarah's head snapped around in the direction Oliver was gesturing to. "So she is.Huh...to be honest, I'm not sure anyone can be worse than me.Maybe I will...and I'm telling her you said that..." Sticking her tongue out at him, in an ohhhh so mature way, Sarah started to make her way over to her captain friend, but stopped short as she saw Brant arrive to distract her. "Or maybe not." Instead she just gave her a wave, and waited for the instructions to begin.

Which they did.Soon after.

Ohhh no, all the Prefect's to the front? Can I get away with hiding, then pretending I was late? Was this a proper lesson where points could be taken? 'Cause that would be bad.But as the boys all went to the other side of the room, Sarah slipped around the back and stood BEHIND Professor Vindictus.No way he would see her there.And thank the Lord he didn't.Especially if she would have had to take part in THAT demonstration.Stiffling some giggles, she was relieved when it was over, but not when they were told what to do next.

Walking around the room, Sarah tried to find Ryder.She was hoping he'd be there, but with no sign, she resigned herself to having no-one ask her.At least Miranda and Nancy had their boyfriends, even Oliver found Brody.

Leaning against the wall, she clacked her heels together and watched.This was as much fun as she thought it was going to be.None.

Lysandra crossed her legs and sighed. She still didn't have a dance partner. She looked at the pairs on the floor and saw that some new how to dance, but she probably wouldn't be able to if she wasn't asked. If she was that type of person to ask first, she would already be dancing, but since she's not, well, she's stuck sitting in a chair waiting.

Yeah. It was just as Vashti had expected. She was still sitting off on the bench, partnerless, and plotting her escape. Ellie had been sitting with her, but then she'd gotten asked to dance. Vashti was happy for her, of course, and she gave her a thumbs-up sign as she and the boy walked onto the dance floor, but now Vashti was alone. Meh.

If she ran fast enough out of there, would anyone notice? Probably. What about if she crawled? Yeah, they'd probably notice that too. Hm... Could she simply just walk out? She could, but it might be considered rude, and she didn't want that to happen. Ergh.
