Zekke was... stunned. He just sat there, immobilized, as Alex gushed all over him.

WHAT in the world?!

"Even worse than Allyriane!" He couldn't help but exclaim. "And -" He almost shouted something rude, but stopped when he realized that Alex was asleep on his shoulder.

He performed a light cleaning charm on her and gave Professor Virohsa a "Help me!" look.

Jaren was feverently thanking the Greek Gods that Alex wasn't draped all over him, though he regarded Zekke with a look of what may have been sympathy if his face wasn't stuck in disgusted mode right now.

"Perhaps she will sleep it off," he said finally, getting up under pretense of...fetching something.

Though really leaving the scene of madness.

He passed by what looked like a snowman before realizing it was a live student, fresh out of the subzero greenhouse. Pulling out his wand he performed a charm which began to thaw the Ravenclaw out, her robes steaming slightly.

"Are you alright," he asked.

Professor Virohsa waited until the girl finally fell asleep. Moving her wand carefully, she perfomed a spell to lift Alex softly into the air. She nodded as she moved her away from poor Zekke and the other students.

But where could she put her..., she wondered as she looked around. She then decided that placing her on a couch nearby was the bestidea. Hopefully, the sleep would do her good. Without uttering a word, Professor Virohsa moved Alex towards the couch and made sure she was fast asleep before turning around. It was then that she noticed poor Kay frozen stiff! She turned around and looking at the Prefects and Nadia, she pointed at her.. hoping they would help her out.

Kay blinked her eyes and watched as Jaren lifted his wand. She felt a warming sensation as her robes began to unthaw and dry out. "J-J-J-J-Jar-r-r-en. Th-th-thanks-s," she stuttered, her teeth chattering loudly.. "N-n-no one w-was m-m-monitor-r-ring t-the th-th-therm-mo-st-stat. It s-su-suddenly g-got c-co-colder. I-I t-tried t-to g-get out as f-f-fa-fast as I c-could." She hoped that he could understand her and she began to shake violently as her body was racked with chills.

Nadia, who had been distracted by the whole scene and trying to stiffle laughter, received Virohsa's silent orders and jumped straight like a soldier getting the orders. In fact, she fist thought the orders were 'get back to work' when she noticed what the professor had been pointing wasn't the mess to be cleaned but...

What was that girl doing covered in snow over there? As if the question hadn't been wild enough, Nadia noticed Jaren was applying the de-frosting charm they had learned at DADA, and Nadia helped with a warming charm, Chaudensis, and a couple portable blue-bell flames hovering around the girl to warm her up.

Only then Nadia recognized the girl. She peeked though the door opened agap into the room Kay had come from. Probably famous section 30. Ones Laurasia had been talking about, possibly. In fact - "Larausia had been monitoring the hotter greenhouses. Guess it was her alone doing the job," she explained and shook her head.

The sudden heat from the Chaudensis charm began to negatively affect Kay. She was still shaking and began to sway back and forth, bringing her left hand up to her forehead. "St-stop it," she cried out and reached out for something to hold onto with her right hand.

Seeing that Professor Virohsa had taken care of Alex, Zekke had grabbed a second cup of hot tea went over to see how Kay was doing.

After he had set the teacup and saucer down where Kay could reach it along with a chocolate frog with a leg broken, he squared his shoulders and shook out his wand. "I'm going to check on the thermostat. Surely it's not supposed to turn people into popscicles?"

He went to the closet and pulled out some winter gear and bundled up and headed to the section of the greenhouse where Kay had come from.

Merlin, but it was COOOOOOLD!

There was a sound that sounded vaguely like "Eeee!" as he disappeared into the area. It was so cold in there that it was actually snowing! "Negative 15 degrees Celcius..." he muttered to himself as he made his way over to the thermostat.

"Good grief," he hissed, his breath looking like puffs of vapor as he mumbled to himself. The thermostat was quite frozen and covered in ice, it seemed, and the dial just would NOT budge.

Maybe it needed to be repaired with a charm or something or re-charmed.

He shuffled back out of section 30 looking like a snowman himself. "The thermostat's frozen at negative 20 and it seems like it's getting colder and colder. I'm going to try and thaw it out, but maybe someone should try warming the plants. It's going to get too cold for them before too long."

He waved and disappeared again into the Section 30 and started to work on thawing the frozen thermostat with the thawing charm.

Nadia stopped the spell immediately. Chaudensis was a light spells, used on plants and people only when it was cold outside. She wouldn't think it would do any harm to Kay, did it? Grimacing, she still left the bluebell flames around to warm things a bit but rose them so it was only producing heat. Besides, she didn't want to burn the girl.

She turned to the professor instead, looking lost on what to do. Chaudensis was the only idea she had. Maybe clothing? Nadia did perform a extra coat and pulled it around Kay, thought fearing it would have the same effect as Chaudensis, before reaching for her to help her stand. What could be causing the negative reaction? She had heard something about old women having problems with the sudden changing of temperature, that affected their hearts and wondered...

"We should probably get her out from those wet clothing," she blabbed, more to herself than to anybody for real. Because, really, she wasn't talking to the two boys right here... As Zekke was moving into the cold room and remembering past experience by that, Nadia waver her wand to reach her bag with things as extra clothes, cotton gloves and earmuffs for example, and calling "Zekke!" threw the bag to him before closing the door again (not with lock, though, she wasn't homocidal =S).

Still shaking violently from the cold, Kay saw Zekke set down a teacup and saucer near her and nodded her head in thanks. The hot tea was appealing and she realized that she needed to remove the bulky gear she was wearing.

With much difficulty, she removed the winter gear that she had on. Her joints were aching from the sudden change in temperature and all she wanted to do was sit down, but couldn't find a chair. Still standing, Kay reached for the teacup and had a hard time grasping it because her fingers were still numb. She tried again and again to grasp the teacup but her numb fingers and shaking body prevented her from doing so.

"N-na-nadia, c-could you g-get m-me s-s-some P-p-p-pepper Up p-potion," she asked through chattering teeth. "A-and a ch-chair s-so I c-can s-sit d-d-down?"

The bag landed in the greenhouse and he dug into it and pulled on the extra gloves and wrapped the scarf around his head.

Finished doing that, he returned to thawing the thermostat, which was slowly, but surely, thawing. If only someone else could help, then maybe together they could combat the icy chill of the room that was making thawing anything rather difficult.

Jaren performed another thawing charm on Kay's robes to dry them out before regarding Zekke calling out from the frozen greenhouse that the thermostat was broken. He turned around to fetch his winter cloak and scarf, throwing these on before entering the greenhouse himself to what looked like a blizzard.

"Isn't there a backup thermostat control?" He remarked, his breath condensing in a thick mist in front of his mouth as he levelled his wand at the thermostat.

Since she was left with Kay and the girl seemed to be struggling to grip the bloody cup and failing every time, Nadia bit her lip and did the only thing she could think as solution.

She would need to baby-feed Kay.

So reaching for a chair one of the boys had been using before, she pulled it to Kay to gesture her to sit, then poured some hot tea and... as embarrasing as if looked, put the cup to her lips to help her swallow... and that was that.

She stopped this process at the requestion from Kay. "Ah, yes," she immediately responded and looked around, as if expecting the Pepper up Potion to appear there. "Ah, professor, should I go fetch potion from Professor Branxton or..." Wait, the healer. Without waiting for an answer, she jumped up and walked out from the greenhouse to the Hospital Wing.

"If there is, I didn't think to look, honestly," Zekke admitted. "Everything in here looks frozen solid complete with stalactites and stalagmites made of icicles, so I didn't think to look."

He aimed again at the thermostat and incanted the thawing charm.

"If the backup thermostat is here, it's probably frozen unless it has an anti-weather encasing, which I'd think it would have, no?" His teeth chattered a bit, but with the extra clothing, he wasn't too terrificly cold.

Although...

"I've heard that some of the best duelers practice dueling in Siberia and in the Sahara Desert so they'll be prepared to duel in all sorts of weather."

It was somewhat of an odd comment to make, but it was the first thing that popped into his head concerning cold weather and the like. That, and it helped to keep his mind on task.

Jaren added his own thawing charm to Zekke's work to speed up the process.

"They probably duel on different terrain in addition to that," he added, mentally wondering how plants thrived at this temperature.

After a few moments, he reached for the knob and twisted it about, cracking the remaining ice away from it. "What was the temperature that it was supposed to be set at?"

Kay was grateful as Nadia led her to a chair. "Th-thanks," she said as she sat down. It felt so good to sit down and closed her eyes for a moment.

The shaking was beginning to subside and she opened her eyes just as Nadia brought the teacup up to her lips. Not expecting this act of kindness, Kay was surprised and almost choked on the tea that Nadia was trying to get her to drink.

"Negative 15 degrees celcius," Zekke answered right away and added, "They probably do. I've also heard that some duelers have taken a page or two from muggle military practices and have played dueling 'games' where duelers hide from one another in a forest or the like and try and find the other and the first to disarm and stun the other wins."

He glanced over at the plants. "I hope they don't get frostbitten too badly."

Jaren was more preoccupied with making sure he didn't end up frostbitten, nevermind the plants. Twisting the dial, he adjusted it to the appropriate level.

Now it was a matter of the room thawing back to that temperature...

Professor Virohsa, after leaving Alex to her sleep on a couch, turned her attention to Kay. Nadia had left towards the Healer. "How are you feeling, dear?", she asked her. As she did so, she looked at the color of her face and checked her nails for signs. It seemed that some of the color was returning, which was a really good sign.

After what seemed like hours of sleep, Alex finally woke up and found herself laying down on a couch inside the Greenhouse. She felt rather dizzy and had a sick feeling to her stomach. It was almost like a hangover, only worse.

Slowly, she sat up on the couch and gave a loud groan. As she scanned the room, she noticed that Nadia wasn't there anymore. Zekke and Jaren were off in one section of the Greenhouse, apparentley trying to restore the thermostat back to it's normal temperature.

Wait -- Jaren and Zekke? The girl closed her eyes for a split second and thought. Something with Zekke's hair and -- and -- she poked Jaren in the stomach?! Biting her lip and with a scowl on her face, Alex got up quickly and wandered over where the two Slytherin Prefects were and muttered, "Sorry about earlier."

With that, she walked back over and read the directions that Virohsa had posted earlier. Maaan, this was the last time she would ever touch biting plants. Ever again. After all, the girl had always had a dislike for them, but at the same time it was partially her fault for forgetting to put the gloves on. But that was beside the point. She wasn't going anywhere near the biting plants and that was that.

"Professor, can I do something that doesn't involve biting plants?" she asked and stared at Virohsa.

Zekke was brushing snow off the plants when Alex poked her head into the room to apologize. He gave her a wry grin and chuckled and waved a hand with a, "No worries."

When she left, he shook his head and mumbled something to himself that sounded vaguely like "I wonder what would have happened if I had gotten bitten."

"Do you suppose the bite of that particular plant always has that... particular side effect?" He winged an eyebrow up at Jaren.

From brushing off so much snow, there was an enormous pile of snow on the floor, enough to make a decent sized snowman. He resisted the sudden urge to plop himself into the snow, roll about in it, make snow angels, and then have a spectacular snowball fight.

Where this notion came from, he could only guess that him hitting his head earlier possibly had something to do with it and added to the fact that snow-covered places held some sort of enchantment.

But no, he'd really get into trouble. But maybe he could leave a snowman behind... He made a mental note to stay a few minutes after everyone else left.

As Professor Virohsa waited for Kay to respond, she heard a woken Alex walking around. She turned her attention to Alex as she spoke and nodded, "Well of course dear. There are numerous of other plants that you can water and give feed to.. such as the ones in the warm weather section", she answered.

ooc- The side effects are totally up to you The rules of the greenhouse are that you have creative writing within SS Rules and SS RP Rules (such as no killing your character or outrageously unsound things happening).

Laurasia had been in the hot sections of the greenhouse using the melted snow to water the plants there. That is after she had checked that the PH levels were okay first.

When she re-entered the main area of the greenhouse she noticed that Alex was lying down & people were tending to Kay, who had obviously had a problem in the colder areas. She was wet & shaking. Since everyone seemed to be getting tended to, Laurasia began to head back into the colder area. When she walked in she noticed how dreadfully cold & frozen everything was. She pulled out some extra gloves, hat & a scarf to put over her gear. She looked around in confusion.

It was then that she noticed Zekke & Jaren trying to unthaw the thermostat with some difficulty. "I wonder what happened. I just re-set when we first got here. What could make it change so quickly? Do you guys need some help?"

Suddenly her mind reeled. "You guys there is a Hufflepuff student in here somewhere! I don't know her name, but she came in to start digging the holes that are needed. Have you seen her?!"

She looked around the area frantically, trying to see signs of the girl. "I certainly hope that she put on the protective gear that I gave her, she thought. It had been snowing heavily & there were piles of the white stuff everywhere. She quickly pulled out her wand & cast Incendio at one of the large piles of snow. It immediately melted to reveal nothing but bare flooring underneath. Suddenly a thought came into her mind "What if she would have been under there moron? You could have killed her!"

She put her wand away & grabbed a shovel. She started digging through the piles trying to find the girl. Not having any luck she quickly headed for the doorway leading to the main greenhouse area. "Professor Virohsa! There's a Hufflepuff student missing. The last I saw of her she was heading in here, but now the thermometer is frozen & everything in here is freezing solid. I think she may still be in here somewhere, but I'm not having any lucking finding her."

Feeling that time was of the essence she decided not to wait for a response & quickly resumed digging through the piles in search of the girl.

Hogwarts was such a zoo at times. You never knew exactly what to expect. Twenty minutes ago, Xavier would not have believed that a plant would have attacked a student and two more would end up in a tangle, but that was just the way it was. Calm before the storm.

OOC- Please refrain from playing other characters. I totally get that you want things to happen. But unless that person states that they are either extremely cold, you do not write it in. Thus, don't freak out or create scenarios that are outrageous in that sense. Just play with your character Also, there are a variety of cold areas. The cold area that Jaren and Zekke are at is the one that is -15 C. So keep that in mind. She could have gone to one of the slightly warmer areas. So again, please do not play other people's characters. Also because they may not post again until 5 days or more. So, you can't keep the story back waiting to see if they post. Thanks!

Professor Virohsa looked at Laurasia and shook her head. "Calm down, dear. Everything is allright. She could have slipped out or gone to the other slightly warmer areas. Don't worry about her, if she was in there, we would have known by now. And.. the thermostats change a bit, so its a good policy to always re-check what you have done", she explained.

"Perhaps, thought the severity probably varies from person to person," Jaren replied, having now dealt with the thermostat and was knocking snow off of another row of plants. He and Zekke had better finish off and get out to warm up--neither of them were really fully dressed for this sort of temperature.
