Professor Virohsa turned towards the Hufflepuff. "Sure thing. Each water tank has a red number glowing. We are looking for these PH levels to be 7. If it is lower than 7 it is acidic and if it is bigger than 7 it is basic", she explained. "Depending on these numbers open the respective valves to make sure it either rises to a 7 or declines to a 7", she added. She smiled at the hufflepuff as she pointed at the water tanks by the wall.

She then started to walk over Zekke, who was raising his hand (ooc: o_O). She peered into the pitchers and frowned. "Well, you want to add enough so that the color moves from yellow to redder than orange. Once you see the bright reddish orange, you can stop", she nodded. "Usually about 75 mg should do it", she explained.

As she explained this procedure, she kept a close eye on the poison cell.

After Sarah herad what the PH levels were to be at she walked over to the first tank and cheeked the glowing number it was a 6 so she opened the value to make it rise to a seven and when it did she closed the value again.

She repeted this proccesse over again to almost everyone but 2. After she was done with that she saw that some one already taking out the sandbags so she dicided to start to dig the holes in section 27 because that was all that was left to do.

ooc: Okay. Seriously. I think I need some sleep or something but I have NO idea what's happening. I just read the posts over twice and it still makes no sense. We add the yellow stones in the pitchers that we cleaned that are already filled with water, right? *smacks herself*

Listening to the Professor's directions, she placed the containers where she was told and noticed that Naida, Zekke and some other students were cleaning the pitchers and adding water. They seemed to be talking a lot, but Alex chose to remain quiet the whole time and just finish her work.

She walked over and took a pitcher that was somewhat cleaner than the rest. Although, that didn't really matter, seeing as how they needed to wash the pitchers anyways. After washing it, she added water to it and placed it on the table, by the water trays.

Now, where were those stones? The closet, right? The Slytherin girl wandered over to the closet by the entrace and scanned it. After a few minutes, she noticed the yellow stone. She grabbed and few and went back to the table where she started crushing them.

Once the stones were crushed into powder, she sprinkled the powder into the water pitchers and stirred it carefully until it became a reddish colour, just like Virohsa wanted it.

Xavier thinks back to the last term while he continued to do his Herbology work. "I think I remember that a bit. I happened to miss a couple of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classes though," he says. "I was in detention for a while."

He placed the pitchers that were filled with water to his left as he finished filling up the last one. "Okay, what next?"

"Detention, eh? What for?" Nadia asked distractedly as she worked on.

Done with her sheer of grinding, Nadia went over topick 4 pitchers and set them into a row. Withdrawled her hand next and performed a water spell, fillnig up all four pitchers. Then, used her work, the grinding of the stones into this powder she got, and poured enough quantity in each to obtain the precise color.

"You now need to mix the water and powder, which should feed the plants at the same time we water them. And then we proceed with the wantering," she said, deciding to wait until they were done so they could move together into the task.

On the last minute she noticed something and added, "Oh, but you are a greenhouse caretaker, aren't you Xavier. That means you should do the cleaning. What about you take the pitchers we use and clean them so we can re-fill and keep watering?" she offered as she went and started on her own to water a nearby plant.

"Oh, I walked out on a Potions class," he responds. "Borr didn't like it too much so he stuck me with a detention."

The truth was that Sophia had told them they were baking cookies. Cookies in potions! He had felt it unneccesary and left the classroom. He had to write an apology note in detention.

When Nadia had told him that he was a caretaker he said, "Wait...I'm a what? How'd you figure that out. I haven't even been told." He had a confused look on his face. It didn't even make sense.

"I'll take it that it was nice and warm?" Zekke inquired to Laurasia as he finished grinding up stone with his pestle. He glanced over at the rows of plants and started mentally measuring out possible amounts of water and feed that they'd need and wondered just how close his calculations were.

"Hey guys, do we want to split the rows and have everyone take care of a row of plants so we don't accidentally water the same plants more than once?"

As he said this, he carefully poured in some of the ground up stone into the pitchers of water, watching for the bright red-orange color to tell him to stop. Approximately 75 mg went into each pitcher.

"I'll start with row 41," he announced, grabbing two pitchers, and heading in that direction.

Laurasia smiled at Nadia when she mentioned not getting a cold. "Oh yes, I've been very careful about that. Letting my body adjust to the different climates gradually & such."

She noticed that many of the plant caretakers were doing jobs that had been ascribed to the greenhouse caretakers. She eyed Jaren quizzically. "Is there are reason that he's doing that particular job? Mind you I'm not complaining. I wasn't really looking forward to lugging those heavy bags."

When Zekke asked her his rhetorical question, she just laughed. "Nah, I always sweat like a pig. Seriously though, the hot area is called that for a reason," she said before watching him leave to water the plants.

She turned back towards Nadia. "Well, I better get going. I think that the holes still need to be dug in the cold weather area. Have fun."

As she was heading back into the storage closet to retrieve the arctic apparel, she noticed a Hufflepuff student heading into that area of the greenhouse. "No! Wait!" She quickly grabbed another set of arctic wear & headed over to the girl.

"You'll need these in there. It's much too cold to go in without them, at least for any extended period of time." She smiled & started to pull her own gear on over her robes. "Hi, I'm Laurasia Malfoy. Are you going to be starting on the holes that need to be dug? I was going to start that as well. Though the floors in that area need to be shovelled too, so I was going to do that first. Care if I join you when I'm done?"

Professor Virohsa glanced at the students as they worked. They seemed to be doing a good job. She then turned and walked over to the Poison cell to do a check. She wanted to make sure all the plants that had to be there, were there. It helped that she had placed a check mark by the students who handed them in.

She walked through the opened door and peered inside the cupboard. It appeared that two of the viles were missing. Frowning, she started the ardeous task of checking name by name.

Nadia reached for her hair, leaving some dirt on her wake as she did so. "At the announcement board. Did you check it? There it say who is taking care of which tasks, hence why there's a list for Plant Caretakers and another for Greenhouse Caretakers."

At Zekke proposition, Nadia nodded. "Alright, I will take the far left row." She said this while gesturing it, it was filled with yellow flowers.

While approaching the row, she overheard Laurasia and was soon to respond, "Actually, no, was wondering that myself." She stared at Jaren, then back at Laurasia with a sheepish and yet playful smile - "Should I tell him to go switch duties?"

But it happens she was talking to herself, Laurasia had already turned and went over where Alex was.

Xavier gave a slight "oh" and quickly turned around to see where the announcement board was. After spotting it he walks over and sure enough Nadia was right. He was on the caretaker list.

Looking around he realized the broom he had enchanted had stopped sweeping. He picks up a dustpan and walking over to the fairly large pile scoops the excess soil into the pan before vanishing it.

Laurasia looked around the wintry area for a few moments trying to find a snow shovel. For some odd reason she wasn't able to locate one. Then she noticed a rather oddly shaped mound of snow in one of the corners. She swatted at the snow with her gloved hand & immediately found the snow shovel that she had been searching for. "There you are," she said to the shovel.

She quickly began shovelling a path through the aisleways in this section. Getting an idea in her head, she ran into the storage room & brought over an arm-load of buckets. She then started shovelling the snow into these buckets, instead of creating huge mounds of snow in the corners. When she was finished she had 10 full buckets of pure white snow. Proudly, she smiled at herself & decided to get the professors okay before continuing.

She started heading out into the main area of the greenhouse to find Professor Virohsa when she suddenly slipped on a patch of ice. With a thud she landed on her backside (which was pretty padded to keep out the cold) and slid all the way out of the wintry area. When her butt finally stopped its forward progress she laughed hysterically. "Oh that was awesome!" she cried out.

She got up & wiped the snow off of her backside while heading towards the professor. "Professor Virohsa I was wondering about something. I was just gathering the snow that had fallen in the wintry area into 10 full buckets. I just thought that since the snow is so pure, not having been exposed to the outside elements & all, it would be a good idea to take it over to the hot area, let it melt & then use it to water those plants. Do you think that would be okay?"

Nadia was throughout with the fifth plant so far when she spotted Jaren walk by again with a sandbag. Sighing, Nadia left the pitcher by a nearby table and walked that way, she pondered she might as well. She went over to make a copy of the duties as she went and carried it along feeling the distinctive sound of glass for a second, the Announcement Board copy was nearby.

"Jaren," she tugged on his shirt sleeve of the arm carring one of the sandbags to get his attention. "You were assigned a Plant Caretaker, so you have to come over to Sections 41-50 to work with plants, not items. Besides, I thought you wanted to work with plants to help your application in Herbology."

As she said this, she put under his nose the copy with the plant caretaker needed jobs as if to make a point of it and gestured the Announcement Board where his name appeared under the label. "Don't worry, it's your first time here," she assured him with some smugness, "besides it's nevertheless helpful you decided to help the Greenhouse Caretakers with that one task, very nice of you."

As Professor Virohsa got ready to close the Poison cell, she found a wet Laurasia walking towards her. Professor Virohsa nodded. "Very well, that sounds like a good idea. Go to the tanks and empty it out. Make sure that a Greenhouse Caretaker checks the PH Levels after you are done emptying it", she grinned.

Kay went from section to section, checking the thermostats since Professor Virohsa's explicit instructions stated that the temperatures must be constantly monitored. Finally she reached sections 25-30 and saw snow on the ground. With a sigh, she put on the protective clothing which was hanging from a hook a few feet from the section entrance. Luckily, the snow was only dusting the ground and could be easily swept away. Grabbing a broom, Kay swept the floor of section 25 and with a quick non-verbal spell, she vanished the pile of snow and moved on to the next section.

Zekke hummed as he went about carefully watering the plants in row 41 with the special water mixture he had just concocted.

He read the various labels on the pots as he watered, making sure the watered amount was in accordance to the type of plant.

As he paused in his watering to peer at a label... A plant from another row was snaking out a vine towards his leg in a very silent and stealthy fashion...

At Nadia's voice, Jaren turned and nodded neutrally. He had done the sacks anyway, and nobody had been taking up the task while everyone else was busy feeding the plants. He had supposed the roster had changed.

Jaren returned from outside and trod on something just as he was passing Zekke feeding/watering a plant. There was a kind of squealing noise and, the next thing he knew, he was flat on his face with his foot ensnared by a vine.

Ah yes, why he did not particularly like magical plants.

He pulled out his wand and, performing a Severing Charm as close to his leg as he dared, cut the vine and scrambled out of the way before the plant got any other ideas.

ooc: I am still lost but whatever. Nadia ... I thought Laurasia went over to the Hufflepuff girl ...? And we do the first three steps more than once .. or just once in a while? I think my mind died or something ...

After she finished mixing the water with the powdered stones, she carefully took one of the pitchers and walked over to Section 42 where she started pouring water from the pitcher.

When the pitcher was empty, she grabbed another one and started on Section 43. Only this time she had forgotten to pay attention as to where she was walking. One minute she was watering the plants and the next she was flat on the floor. Alex let out a small squeal and noticed that one of the plants wrapped themselves around both her legs and her hand in which her wand was clutched.

The pitcher was already on the floor, and the water was everywhere.

She wasn't even able to reach her wand, seeing as the plant was wrapped around it. "Um ... help ..?" she said in a small voice, hoping someone would hear her or at least see her lying on the floor.

Still with the severed vine around one leg, Jaren turned to attend to Alex, whom had fallen victim to what appeared to be the same kind of plant. For the lack of a better approach, he aimed his wand that the vines and performed the same Severing Charm on them as sparingly as possible.

Professor Virohsa was not going to be very happy about all the severed vines, he was quite sure.

"Thanks," she muttered and got up quickly. She stared at all the water that she had spilled on the floor and the broken water pitch. ACK. This was not her day.

"Evanesco!" Alex commanded under her breath and the mess that she had made before was gone seconds later. Perhaps she should stay away from those particular sections. But then again, she had ... feed biting plants. Well, sooner or later she would have to do it anyways.

Slowly, she wandered over to the fridge which was the end of Section 33. There was lots of meat inside it, that's for sure. Bag fulls of it. Her nose wrinkled slightly, she grabbed one of the bags and started feeding the first plant on the row. There was a slight problem though. She had forgotten to put her gloves back on.

Um. But it was sort of too late. Before she could take her hand away from the plant, it had already bitten her hand. And it wouldn't let go either. She gave a loud scream which she was more than sure that people inside the school heard it even.

"What -- what --?" she didn't even manage to get her words out correctly. She had either fainted because the plant was poisonous or because of fear.

Nadia frowned. She didn't particularly liked it, being ignored. Bad time to have that happen to. The left of her confidence let her only feel utterly offended as she turned around and started walking away, just to express this annoyance. Hence why she didn't notice or heard when two bodies fell to the floor when the plants had wrapped themselves on Jaren's and Alex's legs.

Well, there was a second reason why she didn't notice. At the time, another sound occurred, and it was her that had stepped and pressed her feet over something on the floor, which made her slip and unremedially make her fall on her bottom. The object in question, of a glassy sound, had rolled to the side and hit the foot of a table. Nadia raised her eyes to the cristal vial, eyes open with some delight. She had found the bloody vial! Yes! She reached for it, the object still labelled with her name and containing her work with the pollen at Herbology.

At the time, she turned around just to see Jaren and Alex at last. "Where you suppossed to prune those plants," she asked curiously. Next they had parted ways, Alex had moved over to the Fridge. Well, good for her to be brave enough... Silently, Nadia snaked her way up to the closet and put the missing vial with the rest. That should be all of them, unless someone had left anything back at the classroom. Content with her work, she returned out and it wasn't much longer until she heard the sound of another falling body and coming from...

Uh oh... Nadia went over to the fridge, seeing Alex laying in there, uncouncious. She went over and dragged her out, closing the door behind and once there tried Enervate on her.

Jaren hurried over to the source of the scream and found that Nadia had reached Alex first. Alex wasn't wearing any gloves, he noted--and he noted what looked like a bite on one hand.

"Professor Virohsa," he called in a clear voice. "Alex's been bitten."

And what became of Zekke?

Very muffled yells came from somewhere close to the ceiling of the greenhouse. After Alex's tiff with the grabby vines, he had been the next victim despite his attempts to immobilize the plants using spells to get out of their way.

But the plants, awakened and roused by the encounter with Jaren and Alex, were in no mood to be subdued and before he knew it, he was being suspended and dangled and waved around upside down in midair by several plants as a vine wrapped around his mouth kept him from yelling.

He HATED being hung upside down and right now, he was close to freaking out. Even worse, the plants seemed to have a horrendous sense of humour as one of their vines started snaking out to poke at him under his arms and in his ribs in a ticklish fashion.

"Mmmmrrrpphhh!!!" His mufled cries continued.

Aiming at the plants, he concentrated on trying to cast a spell without speaking and fervently wished he had practiced more on this. Between panicking and being tickled, this was just not working fast anytime too soon.

Professor Virohsa heard a small commotion as she closed the Poison Cell. Walking towards the sound, she was greeted by hurried yet unusually calm boy. She nodded as she started walking towards the commotion. It seemed that some plants were a tad too dangerous for some students.. Perhaps, she would have to require a year limitation.

As she came into view, she saw a very brave Nadia trying to revive what appeared to be a very shaken Alex. Professor Virohsa quickly moved her eyes about and noticed what appeared to be some very angry plants. Moving past them, Professor Virohsa knelt by Alex and placed her hand on her forehead as her other hand grabbed the bitten hand. Ummm... no gloves, she thought to herself.

Professor Virohsa examined the hand a bit more, only to realize that it was a very small bruise. With a small grin of relief, she took out her wand and whispered a few words very quickly. Alex's hand glowed a bit and some brown stuff came out of the bruise. "It is not so bad, she will be as healthy as she was before in a few minutes", she told the worried Nadia.

"As to the plants.. Perhaps it is best for the biting plants to be handled by 6th yrs and above. For students who are careful enough to go in pairs and know enough spells to react quickly", she said as she looked at Jaren, Zekke, and Nadia. As she said so, Professor Virohsa waved her wand and Alex's body floated in mid-air. "I will take her to the front of the Greenhouse, where she can rest and have some tea. If any of you would like to come and take a break, you are more than welcome to do so", she explained.

Alex taken care of, Jaren got up and was about to take over Alex's task of feeding the biting plants, if it wasn't for the fact he noticed a kind of muffled noise coming from the ceiling. Which, of course, prompted him to look up.

Oh dear.

Pointing his wand at the base of the vines, he performed another Severing Charm on them but his attempt to slow Zekke's fall missed.

Result? Zekke fell flat on top of him.

Owch.
