Hey y'all! It's Katie...again. I'm writing another Dramione fic! It's going to be awesome! OK, we all know how the books go, but so far, the seventh has yet to be printed. I'm changing some things around, so don't be too alarmed! So I'm going to take the age-old story of Hermione as Head Girl, but Harry as Head Boy. They're quite happy with this arrangement, until Harry has to leave on his Horcrux hunt. And who better to take his place then...Draco Malfoy!
Disclaimer: I own nothing in this story, except the story line, and the few made-up characters that I own. JK Rowling owns the Harry Potter characters, and nothing I do can change that!

Hermione was going back to Hogwarts for her final year; just the thought of having to face Draco Malfoy again. It was bad enough that he was the cause of Dumbledore's death, but the fact that she dated him secretly for two years was almost unbearable. No one had known, not even Harry. Hermione had managed to forget Draco though, and now she was happily dating Harry Potter.

She had three hours until she had to board the Hogwarts Express, and she decided to go for a walk. Walking through the park by her house always cleared her mind. But not today.

She was walking by her favorite rest stop when she heard a rustling in the bushes. She approached them cautiously. You could never be too careful nowadays.

"Oh!" She yelped, and a fuzzy brown owl popped out of the bush. Hermione relaxed. "Bunny, what are you doing down there?" She picked up the tiny creature. Bunny hooted indignantly.

"What have you got there?" Bunny had a note tied to it's leg. She opened it and began to read.

Hermione,
I found your owl by my house, hooting like crazy. I let it in, and it flew to my parchment and quills, and I thought to write you a letter. This is it. I miss you terribly, and I would do anything to have you back. Please understand and forgive me.

"Why that little....oh!" Hermione exclaimed with rage, and crumpled the letter up. The letter had hurt her badly. Tears welled up, and she took Bunny and ran home. She slammed the door shut behind her.

"Hermione? Is that you dear?" Her mother called from the living room.

"Yes mother, I was just going upstairs to make sure that I packed Bunny's toys." Hermione lied.

"All right dear..." Her mother said. Her father grunted.

"Stupid name for an owl....[i]Bunny[/I[...." Hermione heard papers rustle, and knew her dad was reading the paper. She ran into her room and cried.

Draco watched the tiny owl fly away. His heart was heavy, ever since Hermione broke them up. He loved her so much....he couldn't bear every second they were apart.

He walked over to his owl cage, sitting on the desk. He opened the secret compartment, and lifted out a small box. He sat on his bed, and caressed the diamond ring that lay inside. His memory turned...

"Hermione....please say you'll stay with me..."

Hermione bit her lip, but her hands gently pried themselves from Draco's grasp. Draco started to cry, for the first time in his life. Hermione teared up as well.

"Draco...you know I can't....it's been so much fun...but-"

"In two years, it won't matter anymore...please Hermione! I love you!"

Hermione reached into her pocket, and took out a small velvet box. Draco's breathing increased. Hermione placed it in his hand.

"Maybe if things had been different, Love..." And like that, she was gone...

Draco threw the ring across the room, into the owl cage. Narcissus, his owl, leapt and hooted, insulted. Draco stroked the big owl.

"Sorry boy..." He took the ring out and put it back in the box. This wasn't the first time he had done this, and Narcissus understood. He always did. And this wasn't the first time Draco was crying...over Hermione.

Harry trudged his way to classroom eleven, the stage for his first detention. McGonagall had him in a different room each day. How was he supposed to-

"Mr. Potter." A weezy voice coughed from the room. Harry groaned.

"Not you." Filtch shuffled out into the hallway, Mrs. Norris following, hissing at Harry.

"That's right Mr. Potter. You can start now." Filtch pointed to the small room. Harry looked around.

"There's nothing in here."

"My apologies, we're in the wrong room. Go through that door, and don't come out until everything is sparkling." Harry shrugged, and went through the door at the end of the room, passing brooms and furniture polish. He opened the door, and let out a groan of defeat.

"All of it?" He asked Filtch miserabley. Filtch nodded, smiling.

"And no magic. See you in a few days." Filtch left Harry at the door, looking at the entire Hogwarts Library.

And Filtch was right about one thing. It did take Harry a long time to finish the Library. His whole detention week, to be exact. By the time he was done, he was under the impression that McGonagall had no soul at all.

Gosh.....I'm so tired! It's a quarter to 11pm on the East Coast right now...I'm gonna sleep and post the rest of this baby tomorrow.

Hermione approached Kit outside in the courtyard later that day, while Harry was hard at work in the library. Kit was practicing her transfiguration, and was trying out a new spell.

"Kit?"

"Ah!" Kit yelped, and her spell shot out at Neville, who was reading a book. The spell hit him directly, and with a puff of feathers, Neville had turned into a toucan. "Sorry Neville!"

Neville squawked, and Kit looked up the counter curse and performed it. Neville turned back into himself and quickly left, taking his book with him, in search of a more quiet and safer place to read. Kit turned to Hermione.

"Can I help you, Ms. Sl*t?"

"Kit, that's not fair. And you know it. I'm just here to ap-"

"No. I don't want to listen." Kit put a hand up. "You hurt your friends when you decided to play this game Hermione. What makes you think that a simple apology is suddenly going to make everything better?"

"Kit, if you'd just listen...that's all I want. Can you grant me that?"

"Fine. But don't expect a big reaction." Kit sat back down on the slab of stone, her face a likewise.

"Good. First off, I'm not a sl*t. It's been very hard for me. I don't think you knew this, but....for awhile, Draco and I dated in secret-"

"WHAT?" She clearly did not know this. Hermione rushed on.

"-and it was a messy break-up. We were both hurt, but I knew it had to be done. Then I started dating Harry. And it felt like my heart was whole, complete. But...it wasn't. When Harry left, Draco was selected as the new Head Boy. And that made me fall in love with him all over again, since we were on our own alot."

Kit was silent.

"But now that you've...well, put it in perspective for me, I have been a player...and, well, a sl*t. But I want to change. But I don't know who to choose. Can you help me Kit? Please?"

Kit was stunned by the plea. This girl had broken so many hearts, so many people. But she was willing to change. And....she was willing to help. Kit got up and put an arm around Hermione.

"Hermione....I'm sorry too. I'll try to help you in anyway I can." Hermione hugged her back, and the tears flowed from her eyes. Kit held her.

Kit took Hermione inside and into the library. Hermione's head was down, but Kit didn't notice. She knew already that Hermione felt bad, and wasn't going to push the subject any longer. She pointed to one of the tables, and Hermione sat down, looking dejected.

"Ok Hermione, buck up." Kit sat down and put her feet up on the table, legs crossed. Hermione looked confused.

"What?"

"Buck...up. Stop blubbering. Time to face what you did and fix it. Now, for starters, tell me what happened between you and Malfoy while you two were dating." She supressed a shudder.

"Well, I had started to feel for him in third year, when he started to grow his hair out. He looked so handsome. Although he continued to call me a mudblood, I didn't care. By fourth year, my hair had grown out, and became less bushy, andI had gotten a tan, and of course, Madam Pomfrey had fixed my teeth, so I looked alot better. I think that's when Draco-I mean Malfoy started to notice me."

"Go on." Kit said, leaning foward. Hermione took a deep breath and continued.

"During the TriWizard Tourniment-I don't think you were here for that, were you Kit?"

"No I wasn't. I was still in America. But continue."

"Right. Well, during that, Malfoy and I started bumping into each other around the corridors. And they were often Gryffindor ones, which right off made me suspicious. What would a Slytherin be doing around Gryffindor territory. But his reasons became clear when he was lurking about at 2am. So when I confronted him, he said that the reason was he liked me and wanted to be around me."

"He said that to you?" Kit almost fell out of her chair. "And you believed him?"

"I was shocked...at first." Hermione admitted. "But by the time we had spent time together, and talked, I started to realize that I liked him too. So we started to see each other, but at night only. I felt bad while I was seeing Krum, but that's the way things were.Then...after he caused Dumbledore's d-death..."

Hermione faultered. Kit reached for her hand, and Hermione grasped it firmly. She hitched a few deep breaths, and started again.

"Afterwards....I didn't want to see him. I didn't want to talk to him. I could barely look at him. He was going to ask me to marry him, I'm afraid. We had such a deep understanding of each other. I could tell what he was thinking, before he said it out loud. He knew everything there was to know about me, how I felt for Harry, how I was worried that Ron might like me for more than just friends. Sorry Kit."

"No harm done. I snagged him before he could fall through the loop." Kit grinned. "Almost done?" Hermione nodded.

"But before this year started, he..he sent me an owl, stating that he was sorry we broke up. And that he still loved me. That really hurt. He knew we couldn't be together any longer. And he knew that by that time, Harry and I had hooked up. That's when I realized that maybe...I wasn't as in love with Harry as I thought I was. But it's been so hard, I've tried to block him out. But Malfoy's always in my head. And...well, you know the rest."

Kit nodded, mulling over the story. Hermione had problems. A lot of problems. But most, thankfully, were fixable.

"Hermione?"

"Yea?"

"I think we can do this."

Hermione smiled. "I hope so."

Maybe I'll add more on to it tonight...homework time!

Harry had finally finished scrubbing the entire library. He looked at his dirt-streaked watch and sighed. Five-thirty. Maybe he could make it to dinner if he hurried. He threw his rag in the bucket of dirty water and headed for the door.

"Wait Potter." Harry sighed. He had forgotten about Filtch.

"What?" Harry asked dejectedly.

"I have to inspect it. My privilege." Fitch began to look around, poking in corners, while Harry looked on, just feeling tired and sore. Filtch started muttering to himself, while Mrs. Norris rubbed against his legs, purring at Filtch and hissing at Harry. "Well Potter, everything seems to be in order. You may go now. And make sure this-Hey!"

Harry turned tail and ran out of the library. He checked his watch again. Five-thirty seven. He had just enough time to grab a bite to eat. He rushed down to the Great Hall and found the school in the middle of dinner. He flopped down in between Ron and Hermione and began to reach for the steak.

"What's up?" Ron asked, watching Harry tuck in. Hermione smiled and rubbed his back.

"I joost git oot 'leanin' liary." Harry said, his mouth stuffed.

"Come again?" Hermione asked.

"I think all that cleaning detergent must have gone to his head." Ron sniggered.

Harry swallowed. "I just got off detention. I was cleaning the library. The whole library."

"Ouch. I thought you had been giving something else to clean. Not the whole library? Who gave you that? McGonagall?" Ron sympathized before chowing down on some salad.

"Yup. You wouldn't believe." Harry groaned, and cut up some more steak.

Hermione looked across the room at the Hufflepuff table to try and catch Kit's eye. She caught it and Kit gave her a thumbs-up. Hermione gave a huge sigh.

"Harry?"

"Yea babe?" Harry smiled at her, and held her hand. Hermione gulped. Suddenly, her throat closed. She couldn't breathe. Her eyes widened, and she squeezed down on Harry's hand. "Hermione, what-oh my god! Ron!"

"What?" Ron asked, his mouth full.

"Hermione...she's choking!"

"On what? She hasn't eaten anything!" Ron said with alarm. She began to pound on Hermione's back. The commotion was enough to get people's attention. Kit noticed and ran over. She shoved Ron out of the way.

"Get off of her!" Kit immediately wrapped her arms around Hermione's waist, and began to pump Hermione's stomach. Hermione gasped. Suddenly, a peice of meat flew from her mouth, and Hermione began to cough.

"Hermione!" Harry said with relief, and took her into his arms. He rubbed her back, while she gained her equilibrium back. Kit turned to Ron.

"That's called the Heimlich Manuver. They taught us that back in the States. Pounding on their backs doesn't work baby. I'm sorry I was rough."

"That's ok love." Ron gave her a kiss. "Just be glad she's still alive."

"...but....I didn't eat anything..." Hermione rasped, confused. Unfortunately, no one heard her.
