Kit took Hermione inside and into the library. Hermione's head was down, but Kit didn't notice. She knew already that Hermione felt bad, and wasn't going to push the subject any longer. She pointed to one of the tables, and Hermione sat down, looking dejected.

"Ok Hermione, buck up." Kit sat down and put her feet up on the table, legs crossed. Hermione looked confused.

"What?"

"Buck...up. Stop blubbering. Time to face what you did and fix it. Now, for starters, tell me what happened between you and Malfoy while you two were dating." She supressed a shudder.

"Well, I had started to feel for him in third year, when he started to grow his hair out. He looked so handsome. Although he continued to call me a mudblood, I didn't care. By fourth year, my hair had grown out, and became less bushy, andI had gotten a tan, and of course, Madam Pomfrey had fixed my teeth, so I looked alot better. I think that's when Draco-I mean Malfoy started to notice me."

"Go on." Kit said, leaning foward. Hermione took a deep breath and continued.

"During the TriWizard Tourniment-I don't think you were here for that, were you Kit?"

"No I wasn't. I was still in America. But continue."

"Right. Well, during that, Malfoy and I started bumping into each other around the corridors. And they were often Gryffindor ones, which right off made me suspicious. What would a Slytherin be doing around Gryffindor territory. But his reasons became clear when he was lurking about at 2am. So when I confronted him, he said that the reason was he liked me and wanted to be around me."

"He said that to you?" Kit almost fell out of her chair. "And you believed him?"

"I was shocked...at first." Hermione admitted. "But by the time we had spent time together, and talked, I started to realize that I liked him too. So we started to see each other, but at night only. I felt bad while I was seeing Krum, but that's the way things were.Then...after he caused Dumbledore's d-death..."

Hermione faultered. Kit reached for her hand, and Hermione grasped it firmly. She hitched a few deep breaths, and started again.

"Afterwards....I didn't want to see him. I didn't want to talk to him. I could barely look at him. He was going to ask me to marry him, I'm afraid. We had such a deep understanding of each other. I could tell what he was thinking, before he said it out loud. He knew everything there was to know about me, how I felt for Harry, how I was worried that Ron might like me for more than just friends. Sorry Kit."

"No harm done. I snagged him before he could fall through the loop." Kit grinned. "Almost done?" Hermione nodded.

"But before this year started, he..he sent me an owl, stating that he was sorry we broke up. And that he still loved me. That really hurt. He knew we couldn't be together any longer. And he knew that by that time, Harry and I had hooked up. That's when I realized that maybe...I wasn't as in love with Harry as I thought I was. But it's been so hard, I've tried to block him out. But Malfoy's always in my head. And...well, you know the rest."

Kit nodded, mulling over the story. Hermione had problems. A lot of problems. But most, thankfully, were fixable.

"Hermione?"

"Yea?"

"I think we can do this."

Hermione smiled. "I hope so."

Maybe I'll add more on to it tonight...homework time!
