Minnie.. just then he heard his father speak to Kade.. about holding off on the contract.. there was a contract too?! oh man.. he was serious!! then her father spoke to his.. about seeing if him and Trinity would like each other.. what?! but they were only friends.. he had never thought about her in that way.. and he might never will.. he would tell Trinity to talk to her dad and tell her to say no to this marriage.. What was he going to do? he liked someone else and here was a man proposing marriage of his daughter to him.

Scene set and start

Hillary was working around the kitchen doing her usual cleaning chores while her son Harvey was upstairs working well she hoped that he was working, her other son Harley and her daughter Emily were out with their father Edmund at the park. So Hillary had decided to take the time to get some work done around the house, hoping she could be done before they get home.

Ella was completely nervous as she walked up to Harvey's front door, heart beating so hard and fast she felt it might burst right out of her chest. OhMerlin! She loved him...she loved Harvey...and now she had to tell him. MEEP.

The fourteen year old put her hand up to the door to knock but paused. Oh no...could she really do this?! What if he didn't feel the same? What if.... But she'd told Sophie she'd do it, said she'd be brave...she'd even got all dressed up to come here. Ella had to go through with it.

Taking a deep breath, the blonde knocked on the door several times before taking a step back. Okay...now or never. BLINK.

Hillary paused as she heard someone knock on the door wondering who it was they werent expecting anyone today, so she put everything down and walked over to the door and was surprised at her visitor.

"Ella! Oh my goodness what a surprise! Harvey will be glad to see you!" she said smiling thinking about the smile that was going to be on her son's face soon enough, stepping to one side she welcomed Ella into her home "Come in dear come in.. my look very pretty today. You are going to shock my elder son today!" she said smiling as she looked at what Ella was wearing.. as always dressed up for Harvey.. though he seemed to love her no matter what she wore.

Ella's eyes widened a bit when Harvey's mother answered the door but her freaked out expression soon softened and she smiled at the woman. "H-Hi there! He will? I mean yeah, I'll be glad to see him too! Erm I Um...I hope I'm not intruding I just needed to talk to Harvey and..." And she smiled sheepishly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Oh dear Merlin this was going to be a disaster! The small blonde stepped into the house, smoothing her dress nervously as she looked around for any sign of her boyfriend. "I...thank you." Blush. "I just figured it'd be nice to um...dress up a bit." And she had something very important to say so it was importantly she looked her best...maybe then Harvey might say he felt the same way. Blink. "Erm so...so how are you?" Because as much as she wanted to RUN to Harvey's room so she could spill, it might calm her down a bit to talk with his mom.

Hillary was a little surprised at her expression but let it go knowing that it would surprise anyone to have someone you are not expecting to open the door, she listened to Ella before shaking her head "Oh no.. no you are not. Harvey is doing some work I hope.. and Edmund and the other two are out playing in the park.. so you arent intruding on anything dont worry" she said smiling before looking at Ella quizzingly, talk to Harvey? she then continued looking at Ella as she said it would be nice to dress up as well. She then smiled knowingly at Ella "I am well Ella, how are you?" she asked her before asking the question she wanted an answer to "now.. you talking to Harvey.. and you dressing up as well.. even though its not needed" she smiled and smiled at Ella "Do you have something important to him by any chance?" she giggled kinda knowing what Ella may want to tell her son, and she was thrilled that Ella felt that way for Harvey. She was a great girl and soo right for Harvey, she was just a little surprised that it had happened so soon!

Breathe Ella, breatheeeee. It would look mighty suspicious if you just went and passed out right on the carpet. Meep. The blonde did her best to smile, nodding. "Oh good then, I'm glad I'm not." Interrupting anything, that is. And that smile that Harvey's mom was giving her right now, it made the blonde even more nervous. It was like...like she knew why Ella had come. "Oh that's good! I'm...I'm good...erm great, actually..I think." Blink. She wasn't making any sense, was she? Meh! And then that question...it was like she knew. Did she know?! How could she? Was it that obvious?!

BLUSH.

"I erm..." Nod. "Yes, yes it's kind of important."

And she knew this was real because she could feel it, that she loved him. Gran said when you loved someone you shouldn't hold it inside because people didn't always get the chance to say it and those who had the chance should go for it. That's what Ella was doing...she was just going for it.

...No matter how scared she felt.

The way Ella was right now Hillary could tell that the poor girl was nervous out of her mind! She smiled as Ella said that she was great.. well she thought she was.. was that even possible to be unsure about whether you were great or not! But she knew what the girl meant.. her nervousness was taking over her mind, and the blush? well that just confirmed it for Hillary what she was coming here to say. Her behaviour said it all, Hillary walked towards Ella and holding onto her shoulders gently looked at her "Ok.. Ella.. just breath.. relax!" she said looking at her.. the poor girl needed to relax or she would faint right here on the spot and Hillary didnt want that! Hillary looked over at her fridge "Tell you what.. why dont you have something to drink.. like water first.. to calm down your nerves" she said smiling.. wondering when these two had grown up! For how long had Ella loved her son? Were they old enough to know that they loved each other? What would her father say about this? They just had to be moving too fast.. right?

Ella blinked several times when Mrs. W put her hands on her shoulders, nodding her head. The woman was right, she just needed to breathe. Closing her eyes, the blonde took several deep breaths before smiling sheepishly at Harvey's mom. "Okay...okay, I'm good. Thanks." And could she go upstairs now? This was getting a bit awkward what with the looks and the fact that Ella was making a fool of herself right now. "No...no water but thank you. I'd just um...like to talk to Harvey if that's okay." And she hoped refusing a drink wasn't incredibly rude of her but she just wanted to stop answering questions. It was doing her head in.

Hillary smiled as the girl said that she was good, which was relief to Hillary. Cause she didnt want her son's girlfriend to faint here on her floor and for Harvey to be worried about her. Hillary smiled as the girl refused a drink "Ok Ella.. yes.. yes of course! He should be in his room working I hope. Why dont you go and surprise him" she chuckled as she stepped aside for Ella to walk upto her sons room.

Harvey was writing his final letter to Ella's mom now, he'd had enough. He had written to her enough times telling her of his intentions to have her here with her daughter, but Mrs Bishop had not replied to a single letter of his and he was starting to see that maybe her mom did not care so much about her daughter which upsetted Harvey.

Okay...so she was being given the okay to go. Ella nodded before smiling faintly at Harvey's mom. "Thanks um...I'll just head up, then." And she hesitated for only a moment before climbing the stairs to Harvey's room.

OhMerlin...this was really happening.

The blonde noted that Harvey's door was closed and took a moment to compose herself. She fixed her hair and smoothed her dress, going over what Sophie had said to her. This was going to be fine...great, even. Everything was going to be great. Yeah...

Opening the door as quietly as she could, Ella tiptoed across the floor to where Harvey was seated and placed her hands over his eyes. "Guess whooo!" She said in a sing-song voice, only then looking down at his desk to see what kind of work he'd been doing.

Blink.

Mrs. Bishop...

The blonde dropped her hands and took a step back, trying to make sense of what she saw. "H-Harvey...what are you doing? What...what's that?" And she pointed to the desk.

Harvey was just about to put the finishing touches to his letter when he felt hands over his eyes making him jump.. wondering who it was when he heard her voice.. he closed his eyes and was suddenly filled with dread.. please dont see the letter.. please dont see the letter.. he hoped she wouldnt look at the letter on his desk! He had kept it hidden from her for so long that he really hoped she wouldnt see.

The next moment her hands dropped and he knew she had seen the letter.. and he heard her voice next and he knew that no way he could hide it now.. he quickly folded the letter and turned to face her, the look on her face said it all and he couldnt believe that he hadnt thought to lock his door or something that way she wouldnt have stepped in and seen him write it.

He looked at her "Ok.. Ella.. just calm down.. its nothing.. honest.. just.. a little.. thing I was doing.. for you!" how could he tell her that he was planning to surprise her with her mother's presence on a certain day before they left. "Its a letter.. that I am writing.. nothing else" he said walking towards her slowly cause right now she seemed completely freaked and he didnt want that right now. But it was happening she was freaked over what she had seen.

Ella blinked. Calm down? But...she was calm. Something told her that this wasn't right, though. Harvey seemed just as freaked out by her seeing the letter as she felt. What...what was going on? The blonde took another step away from the boy, frowning slightly.

This was a joke. It had to be a joke. Harvey was just fooling around with her like he always did. That had to be it because if he wasn't, if this was true, things would be…this was a joke.

“Harvs…what is this? This isn't real, right? This isn't…you didn't write to her. Tell me you didn't write to her.” Because Harvey knew how she felt about her mom, knew how hard it was for Ella to talk about her…think about her…and dream about her. The small blonde felt as though her stomach had dropped to the floor and she wrapped her arms around herself, trying to ease the feeling.

He stopped as she took a step backwards and he knew instantly that this wasnt going to go so well, this was a bad thing and it was possibly going to get very bad .. very very bad.. he now had to think how to handle the situation cause he didnt want to make it bad.

He heard her asking if he had written to her "Ella.. it is real.. I..I did write to her.. but it was only for you.. this was something that I was doing for you.. please dont .. please Ella" he didnt know what to say but he wasnt exactly going to lie to her now. "It was something.. nice that I .. I wanted to do for you.. I really did" but if the woman had actually answered an owl at least then he would know but she hadnt and now he was left with this.. Ella that was freaking out cause he had written to her mother without telling her.. but it was supposed to be a surprise.

He didnt know what to do now.. it felt like that Taylor thing all over again.. he just hoped that he wouldnt lose her.. he didnt.. he couldnt lose her.. she was the one that really made him the happy guy that he had been the past two years.. he couldnt have imagined life without her and he cant imagine not having Ella in his life.. he just hoped that this was just a bump in the road.. please just be a bump.. please just be a bump. He saw her wrap her arms around herself.. if only those could be his arms around her.. but would she let him?

He wrote...he wrote to her as something nice to surprise Ella? Ella just looked at him, clearly sad. "Harvey I don't...I don't understand." How could he do this? How could he have done this behind her back without telling her? They'd talked about this....they'd been over the mom stuff before. How could he do this?

“Do you know what it’s like…for the ONE person who is supposed to love you no matter what to just up and leave…without a word to you? She left a note, Harvey. A NOTE. She was supposed to care more than that. She was supposed to…love us.” And her voice broke, the tears coming faster than she thought they would. “She doesn’t love us…she didn’t want us. She didn’t want ME. Do you know how that feels? I wasn’t good enough…I wasn’t smart enough or pretty enough…I could have made her stay if only…” And she trailed off as it became harder and harder to speak the more she cried. Her throat felt dry and sore and her eyes stung with fresh tears.

"Why would you do this? You k-know...you know how I feel about her."

Harvey was about to explain what he meant by his little surprise when she started talking again and the way she was going it was not sounding good at all. He then saw the tears and his heart broke a little, he hadnt seen those droplets in so long that he had forgotten that they could come when someone had been hurt so bad.. and here Ella had been hurt bad by the looks of it. She was not pretty enough? she was not smart enough? what was she talking about?

He looked at her "Ella.. you ARE smart.. and you arent pretty.. you are beautiful from the inside and outside. Her leaving had nothing to do with that.. it cant have been." he wanted to hold her in his arms right now, he took a step forward "Ella.. believe me.. your brains or looks had nothing to do with her leaving.. " he then went onto answer her question "And why did I do this? Ella.. I did this for you! It was a little.. surprise I.. I wanted to do for you! Yes.. yes I know! But.. I wanted to do something nice for you before we went back to Hogwarts" but the woman hadnt replied once.. NOT once!!

He was starting to wonder if she did love the daughter that she left behind "Ella I am sure she does love you.. we all do! Your dad, Caleb, your Gran.. me!" he then realised what he had said.. that he .. well maybe he could cover it up right now "See.. its hard for people to NOT love you! You are amazing.. there is no way that she CANT love you.. please.. believe me Ella.. please" he then took step towards her hoping that he was doing a good job at fixing this.. cause he had to fix it.. he just had to.. there was no way that he was going to lose her..not today.. please not today

Ella was having a really hard time listening to Harvey right now and it didn't help that her mind was going non-stop trying to fathom how he thought this was a good idea. He'd done some questionable stuff before and each time with good intentions but this...this was too much for her. He shouldn't have gone behind her back and done something like this. The blonde blinked at him when he took a step forward, not able to look him in the eyes. "H-how...how was s-seeing someone who didn't w-want me a good s-surprise?" She said very quietly, her voice just above a whisper.

You know that feeling, the one where you want to crawl into bed and pull the covers over you and never come out? Well Ella was feeling that right now and it was taking everything inside her to stay put and hear Harvey out. Blink. This wasn't how this day was supposed to happen.

And then he said it, that he loved her. The blonde's head snapped up and the tears came faster now. It wasn't fair of him to say that right now. It was supposed to be something they said to each other during a better time. Not...not like this. "That'swhatIcameheretotellyou." She mumbled, wiping at her eyes. "IwasgoingtotellyouIlovedyoubutI..." The lump in her throat was making it incredibly hard to speak. "Youruinedit."

“You knew how much she hurt me. How she makes me feel about myself…you knew.” She was whispering now, clutching the turquoise necklace Harvey had given her tightly with her right hand. “You p-you promised me. You pinky promised you wouldn’t keep things from me and this…this is big. You shouldn't have…I can’t…” She felt like she was breaking in two, and her heart was just as bad. Broken. That was what she was right now. “I can’t trust you anymore, Harvey."

Harvey swallowed the big lump that was now forming in his throat "I.. I.. thought that maybe seeing her.. and.. and hearing what she h..had to say would.. would be good a..and would he..help you understand more why.. why she left!" he noticed that she wasnt exactly looking at him and that was something he didnt want to happen. He didnt know how this happened, he was doing a good thing for her.. and.. and it was all going so bad.. his brain was all a mess! He didnt know what to think or what to do anymore!

He watched as she looked at him and started crying more before he raised his eyebrows at what she said "You.. you did? Oh Ella.. thats.. wow! I mean.. I'm sorry I.. I didnt mean to!! I just thought that hearing it from your mom would.." he step towards her once more "Look.. Ella.. if I.. I didnt mean to ruin it!" he didnt know what he was going to do now.. they loved each other but they werent in the right moment right now to celebrate that.. and it was all his fault.. with every word she said his heart was breaking just a little bit more and more

He nodded "I did know all that" he watched her hold the necklace he had given her "I know I d..did.. but this was different.. I.. I mean you dont tell people that you are going to do something if it is a s..surprise. Thats why I didnt tell you.. oth..otherwise I would not have hidden this from you.. please believe me Ella!" he then went wide eyes as she said she couldnt trust him anymore "No.. no.. Ella.. dont say that.. you .. you CAN trust me!! You can!!" oh that did NOT sound good.. it did not!! oh this was bad.. that hurt him alot more than everything else she said.

Ella felt extremely exhausted all of the sudden. She just wanted to lay down and wake up and have this be some bad dream or something. She didn't want this to be real. The fourteen year old finally locked eyes with Harvey when he told her why he'd done what he did. She shook her head and tried really hard not to yell, knowing his mom was downstairs. "Don't you g-get it, Harvey?!" She said, her voice cracking a bit as her emotions took over. "I don't w-want to understand...I d-don't want to see h-her. I... I h-...Ihateher." And that was the worst part because Ella felt like an awful person for hating her. She couldn't tell anyone that because she wasn't the type that hated people and it bothered her so much that the one person she did hate was her own mother. It destroyed her to feel that way.

Ella didn't want Harvey to touch her right now. She didn't want to be near him and as he stepped closer, she took a step towards the door. She had to get out of here.


"T-this...this is different and you...you k-know it." Surprise or not, Ella's mom was off limits and Harvey knew it. The blonde had told him countless times how much this subject hurt her. They'd argued about why she'd gone and Ella got mad at him before for defending her. The fact that he was trying to justify it now just kind of made her feel like he hadn't listened to her at all. "Y-you promised...youpromisedme." So no, Ella didn't trust him right now. She'd told him things she couldn't tell anyone else and he'd broke her trust and it hurt. It hurt much worse than she thought it would.

Another step towards the door.

"H-Harvey I..." She couldn't believe what she was about to say and if she didn't get out of this house soon she was going to collapse. She couldn't though, she needed to hold it together for only a little while longer. "I think..." Wibble. "Ithinkweneedtobreakup."

And Ella took off the necklace Harvey had given to her, holding it out to her with a trembling hand. "P-please j-just take it."

He listened as she said that she didnt want to see her own mother and that she hated her "[b]I..I didnt know you hated her that much.. if.. if I had.. I .. I wouldnt have done this.. h..honest! He watched as she stepped backwards towards the door.. he stopped knowing that he was driving her out the door and put his hands in his pocket.. hanging his head slightly as he listened to the rest of what she had to say.

He nodded "I know I d.. did but I.. I geniunely thought that this was different.. please believe me!" he said to her as he watched her take another step towards the door.. he wanted to go around her and shut that door so that she couldnt get out right now and that she would have stay.. cause he didnt want her to leave right now.. not mad like this!

Then at her next words he froze just blinking.. his heart breaking with every second that went by, he then watched in slow motion as she took off her necklace and gave it back to him. He just stood there staring at it, trying not to do anything outrageous. He then looked at her "No.. Ella.. please.. please dont do this! Please.. we dont need to. Please Ella.. I want you.. I need you in my life." he tried to reason with her that he really wanted her to stay "I haven't been this happy.. in my life! You h..have been really great to m..me! Please! please.. d..dont do t..this? Please!" he said practically begging her to stay and not leave him cause he didnt know what he would do if they broke up! He prayed that she didnt really mean it and would actually give them another go and another chance! Please Ella.. dont do this.. dont do this.. please!! dont!! dont!!

Ella wanted to yell at Harvey, she wanted to say he would have known if he'd asked but she didn't. She didn't want to yell...she didn't even want to speak right now. She was just kind of feeling quite numb about the whole thing. It was strange, how suddenly you could feel like that. Maybe it was her body's way of dealing with things? She didn't know for sure but she did know she wanted to leave this room. It was suffocating.

Seeing Harvey so upset? It was making Ella feel even worse because she didn't want to hurt him. And how was it possible that the person who made her so upset could be the person she was so worried about right now? She felt so bad for him, like this was all her fault. And somewhere in the back of her mind she knew that she had it twisted, that she couldn't blame herself for this one but it still felt like if she could just get over the mom stuff everything would be okay. Things would be better.

Only she couldn't get over it. It wasn't that easy. And things wouldn't be better.

Things were broken right now.

"I k-know you didn't m-mean to but it d-doesn't change h-how...how I feel r-right now d-does it?"

She couldn't listen to him any longer because with every word he spoke she felt more and more upset and she knew the longer she stayed, the more hurt he was too. The blonde looked down at her feet and shook her head. "H-Harvey I c-" Oh merlin, this was it. "I'm sorry, I c-can't."

And then she wiped her eyes and walked out of his room, managed to make it down the steps and out the front door, out into the fresh air and only then did she start to sob.
