In a continuation of Lupin Cottage Maxwell and Taylor return for Christmas break at Hogwarts and Jack's long lost mother comes looking for him only to find she's not quite welcome.

Maxwell finished putting his things in his room at the Cottage and walked out to the kitchen, looking for something to snack on.

Maxwell smiled and sat at a bar stool. "I'd love some." He said happily. "Can i ask your advise on something?" He asked hoping she was fine with him picking her brain.

Elizabeth smiled and leviated two cookies over to Maxwell and went over to the fridge, "Of course, Maxwell. You dont even have to ask if I can give you advse, just ask away... would you like a glass of milk with the cookies?"

Maxwell smiled. "Yes, please." He said. Elizabeth was always so sweet to him. "As i'm sure you know Minerva and I broke up a few weeks back..and i was talking with Ariana...who broke up with her boyfriend...and we kinda kissed...and I don't know why i'm just feeling like this now...I mean am i crazy or is this just because of Min and I or...and what is it for her...I guess what i wanna know is do you think i'm being stupid to think there could be something there?" he asked

Elizabeth smiled and silently chuckled as she poured his milk. She walked over to him, sitting his glass down and sitting down on a stool. "I dont think you are stupid for thinking that there might be something there. I think it is kinda of smart of you to test it... to see if there could be." She looked up at him. She loved how Maxwell seemed comfortable going to her for things like this.

Maxwell took a sip of the milk. "It's just...I've known her since first year...she's my oldest friend and the one person i've been able to count on for four years...and i don't wanna lose that or mess things up..I'm also just a little afraid of getting hurt..." He said knowing it was a possibility.

Elizabeth put a hand on his shoulder, "Maxwell there is no way of avoiding risks." She gave him a sweet smile, "Do you want to see where it goes with Ariana or do you want to try to stay friends?"

Maxwell sighed. "I know...it's just....I don't know what i want...I mean i kinda do...I've been thinking about it a lot lately." He said with a sigh. Not too long ago his heart was broken not just losing his mother but Minerva as well, Ariana was there for him..

Elizabeth gave him a comforting smile, "Only you know what you want, Maxwell..." She stood up and started cleaning the counter, a little antsy. "What does your heart say to do, Maxwell?" She looked at him.

Maxwell nodded. "My heart says to do something about it...but my head says he's an idiot and that i'll just get hurt again..But i feel like deep down some part of me wants to be with her." He sighed and ate a cookie. "How did you feel when you were at this point with dad?" He asked.

Elizabeth chuckled a little. "I was in the same position as you especially you and Taylor were dating so it seemed harder. If your heart wants to be with her then go with it. Dont always go by your head, you might make the worst mistake that way... I would of if I would of followed my head." At that, she had a small smile and her eyes soften in love, thinking about her loving husband.

Maxwell nodded. "I think you're right.." He thought for a moment. "I'm just afraid...It's not a feeling i'm used to...What convinced you that you wanted to be with him? If it's not too personal." He asked. Maxwell knew he was asking a lot of questions but he always felt like Elizabeth understood him so he hoped she would get it.

Elizabeth smiled, "It is okay to be afraid, Maxwell... sometimes the best things out of life is overcoming your fears." She chuckled, "It isnt too personal. Henry actaully convinced me to give it a try and once I opened my feelings up again and tried going out with your father... I realized that it was the best thing that happened to me... erm... that is except my children, of course." At that, she gave him a wink and chuckled again.

Maxwell laughed a bit. "Maybe you're right...She's supposed to come over later." He said with a shrug. "Speaking of children how's Alice?" He asked not knowing his little sister very well. "ohh and there's some creep hanging around Tay and i don't like it, something about him seems off."

Elizabeth smiled at Maxwell, "Alice is doing wonderful." She glanced up at the steps, leading to Alice's room then back to him, "A creep around Taylor?" Her eyebrows raised, "Please explain..."

"Good, I'll have to spend some time with her before Hogwarts.." He said and then focused on 'Brodie'. "Well, he was at the fountain with her earlier today...he knew who i was before she could even introduce us...I understand knowing her, she's a princess. But me? I'm a nobody..Damon said he knew who he was too...something about him seems off, His name is Brodie and he drew this way too accurate picture of Taylor after meeting her once...I don't like him." He said not making mention of his getting Jealous about this creep being friendly with Ariana...

Elizabeth nodded and smiled, "Okay." Then to the Brodie thing, "Well you both dated her and she is on the news..." She trailed off and muttered, 'too much' then went back to what she was saying, "So you two have been on the news a few times." She gestured, "Her picture is plastered on the news so he could of looked off the web." She didnt see how this boy was too creepy.

"Yes, but he knew me by name...i don't know, Mom something about this guy is all wrong...he's trying too hard. I don't like it, or him..he mentioned being poor too, like a we should all have sympathy on him..." He said investigating the situation in his head, seeming much like his father when thinking about Anton.

Elizabeth nodded and twisted her ring, thinking. "Well, trust your gut, Maxwell... I cant judge without knowing him but from what you said... he does seem creepy and bad news..." She bit her lip and glanced at him, "Will you keep an eye on Taylor, please?"

Maxwell nodded. "Always...Don't worry Mom, i'll keep an eye on her." He said plotting ways to ruin Brodie. Now that his mother was gone her fortune was his, he could use that to ruin a man if he wanted..
