In a continuation of Lupin Cottage Maxwell and Taylor return for Christmas break at Hogwarts and Jack's long lost mother comes looking for him only to find she's not quite welcome.

Elizabeth laughed and smiled at him. Her leg accidently brushed against his as they cuddled closer, "Hmmm that is probably man's favorite idea." She chuckled and smirked.

Maxwell flooed into his father's cottage...the new place he'd call home...his mother left him her family manor but he was far too young to live there alone. He took his things from his mother's old home and went to his room, Helios was there waiting for him. Maxwell stroked his old friend near the beak and then crawled into his bed and curled into a little ball, since the loss of his mother nowhere felt safe.

Taylor heard Maxwell and followed him. She saw him curl into a ball and didnt even knock. Tay sat on the bed and kissed his cheek, hugging him. "Maxwell, it will be okay... trust me... I lost a parent as well. Time will heal it a little..."

Maxwell looked up at Taylor with obvious disbelief. "No, It won't...You don't understand..he'll get away with this, the U.S. government has already given him custody of my youngest sister...I'll probably never see her again and if i do he'll probably teach her to hate me and my other sister.." He said with a sigh, full of both anger and sadness.

Taylor sighed, "Maxwell, momma and henry will do whatever to help you get your sisters..." She frowned and tried to console him.

Maxwell knew she was just trying to help, but he was so angry, not much could help him right now. "I know...But it's not the same as government here..There's lots of paperwork and officials that need convincing...besides where would they go? I don't expect my Dad to take them in...and My Mum didn't have brothers or sisters...Tabby's staying with friends from Beaxbaton so i'm not so much worried about her as i am Kim...stuck with that awful man...but as far as she knows he's wonderful.." He said with red-ish gray eyes.

Taylor gestured in the direction of the estate, "Henry would probably take them in for you if you ask him... that way they will be safe and you can see them whenever you wish..." She glanced down.

Maxwell nodded. "I appreciate the thought but that doesn't solve the problem of one of them being stuck in America...I'm not sure what we can do...it's not like he's been a cruel father to her and the case on my mother is closed...even though i know he did it, they don't agree and an angry 14 year old isn't convincing anyone..." He said running his finger through his hair.

Tay sighed and frowned at him, "Then I dont know what to say! I am only trying to help!" She pouted and looked away from him.

Maxwell saw that he hurt her feelings and he knew she meant what she said. "I'm sorry...I-I I'm just so angry...I can't help it..I know you're trying to help.." He said trying to smile, but coming up short. "I just feel helpless...and afraid.." He said the last part in a whisper.

"How do you think I felt when my father died about 3 years ago then my baby sister 2 and half years!" She looked at him and tried not to glare at him.

Maxwell felt like she was being condescending. "Were you there for either of their deaths?! Were you tortured or abused by the person who took them from you?..." He sighed, instantly hating himself for being so harsh with her. "I'm sorry...I just..." He couldn't finish his sentence...he didn't really know what he was anymore..

Tay had tears running down her face as he started being even harsher. "I was just trying to help!" She whimpered a little and looked away, "But if you dont want me to even try then I guess I will leave." She pouted and stood to go.

Maxwell stood up and followed her closely. "No, please...I'm sorry!" He hugged her and once he pulled back he had a pitiful look in his eyes. "Min...Min and I broke up...Tay...I have no one and i don't want to be alone.." He said looking like a lost puppy.

Taylor hugged him back and her eyes widened. "What? Awww, Maxwell..." She kissed his cheek and rubbed his back, "I am sorry to hear that." Tay thought about what to do, "Hey want to have a movie marathon and pig out on ice-cream and popcorn and candy?" Taylor looked at him.

Maxwell sighed. "It's not your fault..We just kinda grew apart." He said with a sigh and a feeling of losing the people he loved. He nodded to her question. "Yeah...do you have any friends you'd like to introduce me to?" He asked with a smirk, his first in a while, also his first joke in a while.
