Background:
Dora Lovegood just recently returned to her home country after being in the US working for their Ministry. Dora is a half- blood witch with a bubbly personality but a short temper. She has recently been through a lot of ups and downs, but her co- worker, Silas, has seemed to give her a reason to stick around. Their "interaction" has started to bring out a new light in Dora.

ooc: This thread will give Dora a place to be with her friends and Silas. Dora's character will grow and learn more and more about herself.

Locations:

Dora's house: Inherited from a wizarding relative, Dora just recently renovated and moved into a new home. A sizeable home that reminds one of a farm house. The interior is just as bright as Dora's appearance and personality. Located inside the foyer is a talking mirror that gives out compliments or criticism... whichever is needed. Then you enter the large living room space where you see a ton of eclectic furniture in great colors and abstract shapes. There is a lovely fireplace, on the mantle there is a great collection of wizarding photgraphs. These photos range from her family to former co- workers from the US. The kitchen is very spacious and bright. One wall is nothing but windows, letting natural light spill in. The only room in the house that isn't bright and welcoming is Dora's "office"... well she practice's magic there and brews potions. Here are Dora's more personal photos and keepsakes. She keeps it locked away just like the memories.

There now hangs a portrait of the former lady of the house. She crossed over but felt that Silas needed her portrait to feel better... Besides, she couldn't fully leave her children or her husband so abruptly. Over time she will stop visiting the portrait, but for now she stands waiting for her loved ones to come to her. The other portrait hangs in her niece's bedroom, hung with a permanent sticking charm.

Dora's yard:

Dora has a grand yard that back's onto an enchanted forest with tons of trails and adventures to be had. Living in a Wizarding area Dora is free to fly or do whatever else she fancies outdoors. There is also a sizeable garden which Dora maintains. It is home to magical and Muggle plants alike, there are also pixies and gnomes that roam about. In the center of the garden is a lovely golden domed gazebo with a double swing that is perfect for cozying up on.

The Lake:

Dora's property is also home to a fantastic lake that is home to all sorts of magical creatures and plants. The creatures are well behaved though, so Dora swims often when the weather is nice.

Dora watched as the events unfolded and smiled and nodded at the proper times. SHe was off in her own little world for the most part and she was watching the little animals with wonder and amusement.

She eventually scooped up Isabella and made her way to the couch. As she sat down and got comfortable Pandora and Ronan announced that they would be leaving. She made to get up when they popped out. "Well, bye then." Dora called after them with a smile.

Turning to look at her husband she smiled and said, "It's really nice that they have one another isn't it, love?" She continued to stroke Isabella and shook her head as Lancelot continued to yowl.

Silas raised a hand in parting as Pandora and Ronan as he continued to stroke the kneazle in his lap.

Turning to Dora, he smiled as she nestled down near him with Isabella. That just left poor Lancelot without any human attention.

"Pandora certainly looks happy," he said softly, his eyes still on the animals. "This seems to be a good thing." He looked up at his wife and smiled. Watching her there with her pet, he couldn't help but think of the future as he continued to pet the houseguest.

"I can just see us in twenty years, after these two have gone," he rested his free hand on Dora's belly. "Sitting here by the fire, playing with our cats." His eyes twinkled.

Dora smiled and clicked her fingers for Lancelot to come forward, if he wanted to. She thought about taking Tadgh upstairs, but he was sleeping so nicely.

"Mhm. They certainly do seem to be happy, right." she said as she petted Isabella and smiled. She was happy for Pandora, but she also was a bit skeptical of Ronan. He did seem nice enough, but she didn't know him yet and she didn't like the idea of Pandora taking off on holiday with someone she hardly knew.

Dora smiled as Silas placed his free hand on her belly. "I feel like I am ballooning now. Everyday I feel like my belly is getting bigger and bigger." she said as she placed a hand on top of his. Giggling she looked at her husband and said, "So, they aren't even here yet and you are planning on what we are going to do when they leave. THat is lovely, you know." She nudged him in the ribs playfully and giggled some more. "But, yes I would love to think that we could sit around here and be utterly lazy and have uneventful lives, but I am not sure that will ever be an option for us, love." she said with a small sigh.

New Scene

A few weeks later.....

Dora fluttered around the bedroom and bathroom getting ready for the wedding she was about to attend. She had let her hair fall a bit longer than usual and curl... it still had it's pink streaks though. Teehee.

She had donned a beautiful dress that unfortunately showed just how preggers she was now... that made her a bit nervous, but she loved the dress so much she didn't care. She was just going to have to find a pair of flats to wear so she wouldn't risk falling down.

Finally finishing up she grabbed her bag and slowly made her way downstairs. "Silas, love, I am heading to Chris' wedding now. Want to have a look at the finished product before I head out?" she called out to him with a smirk on her face.

Silas perked at the sound of Dora's voice as she called out. Looking up from his work, he smiled. Setting the papers aside, he stood and followed the sound of her voice.

Getting a good look at her, Silas couldn't help but smile. "You look amazing, love. Simply amazing." Approaching her, he set is hands on her waist and kissed her nose.

"I wish I could come with you... but you know." He gestured to the piles in the living room. Dora had assured him it was ok since he didn't know the couple, but he still felt bad staying behind.

"Have a good time," he said softly as he kissed her again.

Dora beamed at Silas and did a little spin so he could see the complete package before he approached her and lay his hands on her waist. She giggled when he kissed her nose and stood on tip toe and kissed him softly on his lips and smiled.

"Why thank you love. I can't help but feel like a bit of a cow in this dress... I feel as large as the side of the house these days." she said with mock sadness in her voice. She giggled. She was happy to be big, fat, and preggers. THe twins weren't due for another few months but she was already so excited for them.

Dora rolled her eyes at her husband and laughed, "Honey, it's totally fine. I told you that you need to get caught up on your work and besides you don't even know Chris and his wife to be so you aren't obligated. Stay here, relax, get some work done, relish in the fact that the house is quiet for now."

Dora returned his kiss and smiled, "I will try to enjoy it... but as soon as I get tired I am coming back." she said with a grin.

She then turned and made way for the living room, his hand in hers, aso she could floo into Chris' house.

Silas smiled at her. "Nonsense. You're ravishing." And he truly thought she was. He'd been feeling inordinately sappy the past few days, waxing poetic in his mind about how lucky he was and how she was the mother of his children.

He gave her hand a squeeze as she turned and headed for the living room. "Do give them my best. And I will make sure that everything here is all cleaned up before you get back so you can just come home and rest."

He released her hand as they arrived and gave her another kiss before she headed for the Floo.

Dora actually blushed a bit at his compliments... you know just her cheeks, not her hair.

"Thank you love, you do spoil me so with these compliments. But I am not complaining one bit!" she said with more giggles and grins.

Kissing him one last time she released his hand and walked over and climbed into the fireplace. Before she grabbed the floo powder she summoned forward a traveling cloak... maybe it would keep most of the ash off of her dress.. hopefully.

Hooking it around her she smiled sweetly at her husband and reached into her purse and grabbed the travel sized jar of floo powder. Throwing down a bit into the grate the green flames arose. "Hobgartner House" she said clearly and loudly, then she began to spin like a top and disappeared from the floo.

Silas smiled as Dora spun away, waiting until the fires had died down before turning back to his work with a sigh.

Reports and reports and reports. And nothing was even really going on. He shuddered to think of his workload should there be an emergency.

He flipped through report after report, scrawling down notes where appropriate, stretched out on the couch. Summoning some mead from the kitchen, he filled his glass generously, before turning to the next stack of paperwork.

When the letters began to swirl together, however, Silas decided enough was enough for one night, tapping the stacks of paper to send them back up to his study, stifling a yawn.

He would stay up and wait for Dora...

That was, until he fell asleep, mead in hand.

Dora stepped off of the violent purple bus at the end of the lane, cursing people for not putting the correct date on invites. Grrrrr. She reached her boundaries and walked straight through, when she approached the front door she gave it a tap with her wand and as it swung open she stepped inside, shoes in hand. Luckily she was handy with a heating charm or else she would have been a Dorasicle by then.

As she entered the living room she saw Silas, asleep, mead in hand. How precious he was. She smiled and went over to take the mead from his hand and set it on the table.

Silas sighed and shifted on the couch, eyes blinking open. Rubbing the sleep out of them with his hand, he sat up, smiling as Dora came into focus.

"Hi," he whispered sleepily. "I..." he stifled a yawn. "I guess I better head upstairs before I end up sleeping here all night." He chuckled.

Standing, he leaned over to kiss her quickly. "I want to hear all about the wedding later." He yawned again, eyes droopy, completely unaware that she hadn't been gone all that long. "Come up soon?"

And with that, Silas squeezed her hand and made his way upstairs, looking back over his shoulder to see if she was joining him.

Dora smiled as her sleepy headed hubby got up and made way for the bed. Bless him, he worked so much lately. They needed a vacation soon... their wedding/honeymoon trip had not been a restful event, to say the least. "Yes, love. I will be up in a bit." she said as she surveyed the mess in their sitting room. She unholstered her wand and made to clean... or at least organize the mess, but stopped short. She didn't want to mess up any of his work. Resigned to the fact that it would have to stay a mess until morning she put her shoes down and followed after Silas toward the bed.

Days Later

Pandora tumbled out of the fireplace in a flash of green flames. Hitting the carpet with a dull thud, she inhaled lots of ash and coughed severely. As she did so, an ear-splitting shriek rent the air. Pain seared through her stomach and she started to cry. "Dora?" She call out, causing herself to cough again, "Dora? I need you!" She pulled herself to her feet still covered in ash and swayed violently on the spot.

Dora sprang from her bed at the sound of her intruder charm. She thought she heard Pandora's voice, but it was rather difficult to know for sure. She quickly grabbed her house coat and wand and headed down the stairs.

When she reached the bottom of the stairs she flicked her wand at the back wall to quiet the intruder charms. Inching into the sitting room she saw Pandora standing there covered in soot. She raised her wand and pointed it directly at her head and asked, "What do I do to Silas the first time we met?" If it was in fact Pandora she would know the answer and then Dora could rush to her aid.

Pandora took a step towards Dora and then stopped short. Security, of course, that was what the noise had been for. "You and I met, y-y-you... face... stinging hex." She sank onto the sofa, not caring about the ash. "Him and you... trip... broke nose."

She pulled her knees back up to her chest, the pain unbearable, silent tears coursing down her soot stained face.

When Pandora answered the question correctly DOra ran forward and gripped her friend by the shoulders. "Who hurt you? Tell me what's wrong." she demanded. She did a nonverbal spell to clean Pandora and the living room of all the soot and said, "Please, don't cry. I'll take care of you."

Dora glanced around for a blanket. Spotting one of the arm of a chair near the fire she summoned it forward and draped around Pandora's shoulders, letting her go of her grip and brushing her hair from her face.

Pandora allowed her friend to take care of her, tears still falling thick and fast. She wasn't sure where all these tears were coming from, she almost nothing had passed her lips since the last meal she had enjoyed in Venice. That seemed like years before.

"Water, please..." She whispered to Dora, trying to pull herself together. She looked at her friend, fear burning in her own eyes. "Did you talk to Silas? Did he tell you? What... Ronan..." The tears continued to flow. "He broke me Dora... I'm broken."

The sentence sounded utterly over the top. Even in her distressed state, she could tell that she sounded like a drama queen. "His father... horrid man... made him so mad. I didn't... recognise him. He exploded... Re-repelling spell..." He sobs redoubled, reliving the moment was almost as painful as being hit by the spell. Eventually she choked out "T-two hit me." She put her hand on her lower abdomen to show Dora where she had been hit, realising that her robes were damaged. "It was l-like he c-couldn't s-see me, l-like I w-wasn't th-there."

Her breathing was uneven, she was tried to calm down but she knew that for Dora, worse was yet to come. "Disarmed him. Sent patronus to Silas. Ronan blew out... windows. Silas... stopped him."

And that was where she had to stop. The rest of the tale was more complicated and so horrible that she couldn't keep keep going. Apparently out of tears, her slender frame crumpled into Dora's rounded, maternal one. "He... he's broken me." She whispered.

Dora nodded her head and with a flick of her wand she conjured a water goblet and muttered "Aguamenti", filling it to the rim with water before handing it to her friend.

Dora waited for her to tell her what was wrong... and she'd be lying if she had expected the first thing from her mouth to be 'Did you talk to Silas?'. Every muscle in her body tensed and she gripped her wand tightly. Secrets... she hated secrets. She clenched her jaw and shook her head. Listening closely her hair and eyes began the transformation to crimson at the mention of Ronan hurting her. She was angry beyond words. She remained quiet while Pandora recounted what had happened.

She patted Pandora maternally when she crumpled into her side, but she knew she wasn't much comfort in that moment. Her only thoughts were the fact that Ronan Cavanaugh had to die now... or at least wish he were dead.

Dora cleared her throat and said, "You aren't broken, dear. We'll see that you get seen by a Healer. Where is Ronan now?" She was gripping her wand so tightly that her knuckles had gone white and it was emitting red sparks. Her breathing was ragged with rage but she was staying quiet. Waiting for the moment she could unleash it all on the man.. HA! coward that deserved it.

Pandora gulped down the water, draining the goblet in one go. Clutching the goblet tightly she quietly told Dora, "I-I've just come from St. Mungo's. They saw me on my own. I..." She avoided Dora's gaze. "I will be very fortunate ever to have a baby of my own." Her voice was barely above a whisper. "Ronan fell asleep outside in the waiting area... I couldn't bare to tell him, so I came here. He broke me."

She finally looked up at Dora, dark circles rimming her eyes, her skin paler than ever. She took Dora's hand in her own. "I asked Silas not to say anything until I knew for certain what was going on. He told me that he could only do that for me if I promised to tell you as soon as I could. He didn't want to keep it from you at all. He was brilliant Dora. I don't know what would have happened if he hadn't..."

She rubbed her hand over her eyes. Hoarsely she said, "Ronan's father was just awful. He seemed to know every button to push. His work wasn't important, he should be keeping up the family tradition of politics, he was living with muggles which wasn't good enough and he was settling when he was capable of doing better. They hadn't seen each other for ten years and the man didn't bother to say hello before he started to throw insults around." She paused for a few moments. "I'm not making excuses for him Dora, what he did was beyond wrong but I don't think he knew I was there. He was like a frightened child who wasn't in control of his magic."

She covered her eyes again. Her bag lay abandoned on the hearth. "Dora, there's a potion in my bag, they gave me it at St. Mungo's, I'm supposed to have it with warm milk. Could... could I stay here, tonight? P-please?"

She looked at her friend hopefully, hugging her arms around herself, unsure of what she would do if she was refused.

Dora listened quietly as Pandora told her everything. She nodded at all of the appropriate times and then did a nonverbal Aguamenti and refilled the goblet for Pandora.

"Wait... that... BEAST took a little nap while you were seeing a Healer that was telling you that you may not be able to conceive. Do you want me to kill him Pandora? Because the more you tell me the more I want to. And it IS inexcusable. My mother makes me batty and I am not trying to kill Silas when she leaves... But I am not throwing stones. I know that I have done my wrong, but I also did it in full knowledge of what I was doing, sought out help and rectified the situation. It sounds to me like this man is a coward." Dora said in a deadly even tone.

At the mention of warm tea Dora made a few complicated wand movements and some nonverbals toward her kitchen and set to work heating the milk. "Of course you can stay here as long as you need to. THere is a bedroom across from ours. I would rather you were close by, if you don't mind. And I have Dreamless Draught if you'd like some of it as well." Dora told her kindly.

Pandora took a shaky gulp of water and stared at the floor.

"Please, promise me that you won't be angry with Silas. He was respecting my wishes. I wanted you, but I couldn't risk your babies." As she said 'babies', she crumpled up again crying heartily.

"I never expected to l-love someone or have b-babies." She whispered. "I didn't think I could let anyone i-in. But since I met him... th-that changed. I think he was going to ask me to marry him. There was this little shop in Venice, a jewellers. I wanted some proper Venetian glass, I bought some earrings. There was a beautiful ring, sapphires and diamonds... and before he got angry, Dora I'm sure there was a ring box in his pocket. I think he might have been..." She trailed off, unable to complete the sentence. She loved Ronan and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. At that moment, she doubted that he would want her.

She looked at Dora in wide-eyed horror. "No! This wasn't him. It wasn't him, it was like someone else was in the room. He's been angry with his father for twenty years but he's never said anything to him. All that anger pushed down for twenty years and then bang, it all spewed out."

She drained the goblet again. "I'm glad he fell asleep. Neither of us has eaten since we were in Italy. There was a delay with the Portkey, we didn't get back to England until 2 am. I was making something to eat when his father burst in. I know it sounds like I am making excuses for him... but this really wasn't him Dora, he's not like that."

"Thank you. Promise me you won't leave me?" Pandora was begging Dora now, she did not want to be alone, she wanted Dora to be close by. "I can't take anything but the potion they gave me. They told me not to mix it. It's my best hope of... you know." She put her hands over her sore abdomen.

Dora pursed her lips much like her mother tended to do and clenched her jaw. "I will try not to be angry with Silas... it's just that this was a big bit of information that was kept from me, no matter how brief it was." she said through her teeth.

Dora listened as Pandora told her that she thought he was going to propose before the incident took place but she just nodded and patted her hand comfortingly. SHe didn't think that Pandora should marry him... no no no. If he lived long enough to make up for what he did then amybe, but Dora didn't see him ever making this right.

"Yeah, honey. I know all about the anger. Trust me when I say that it could very easily happen again. You have seen how I get. It consumes you and there is no controlling it." she told her in a flat voice.

"Pandora, I am not going anywhere. I don't have to work today so I will be here with you." she told her. Flicking her wand toward the kitchen she made the warm milk poor itself into a goblet and summoned it forward. Sloshing a bit when she caught it she handed it to Pandora. "Here, take the potion and let's get you upstairs in the bed. Do you need me to levitate you?" Dora asked her maternally.

Pandora let the discussion about Silas drop. Dora would do what she would do, there was no changing that.

Pandora shook her head. "It's not going to happen again. He won't do that again."

She dug in her bag and pulled out the potion bottle. She added 4 drops, as she had been instructed to. She drank it down in one go. "Ugh. I hate warm milk."

"Levitate? N-no, I can walk. Do you have some clothes I can borrow? These are ruined." She stood up slowly and showed Dora. "Malachi bought them for me in Milan..." She trailed off. "Will you stay with me until I fall asleep?" She asked quietly.

Dora looked at her and wondered if she should press the issue any further and decided not to. She knew anger and resentment and she knew that no one could say whether it would happen again. She shook her head and kept her mouth shut.

Dora smiled warmly and said, "I have a huge closet full. We will get you some pyjamas for now and then when you are ready to get up I'll have some things set out for you. Fortunately I have things in all sizes." She laughed and looked down at her bulging belly.

Dora peeled herself off of the sofa and nodded her head. "Yes, I will stay with you until you fall asleep. Hell, I may just go back to bed myself." she said as she took Pandora's hand and began to slowly lead the way to the stairs. "Are you sure you can make it up the stairs?" Dora asked her quietly.

Pandora passively allowed Dora to lead her away from the sofa.

"Anything that you've got will be fine."

Pandora climbed the stairs and then looked at her friend. "Will you nap with me? I... I... don't want be on my own." She admitted, feeling weak and pathetic.
