"Aha! Mr. Patino, you are perfectly early. How was the year been starting off for you?" he asked in a bossy manner. Dean loves being able to do that to students... He don't want to intimidate them but he also wanted them to be tough. |

Layla smiled whilst walking up the flight of stairs. "Ah well good. I didn't want ze accent to get into my way" she said glad that Jill understood. "Merci" she thanked Jill, knowing that Jill would know what that meant. Everyone did surely. "Et j'adore vous." she said smiling. "I mean I love yours" Layla continued to walk up the stairs until she reached the top floor. She walked out onto the landing and opened the first door. Upon seeing some current residents she smiled and said "Bonjour" she closed the door and found an empty room. "These are the sleeping compartments. As Kat explained earlier we don't generally use them. But zey are here if we wanted zem." She walked into the room. It had 3 single beds aranged around the room with a couple of wardrobes. Two doors led out of the room, one went into a bathroom and another into a common room which was decorated in an eclyptic taste. She opened the door. "We couldn't decide on how to decorate zis room. So we mixed all our styles together. Zis is the bedroom ze Sophmore's use but zis door leds to Freshman rooms. Go ahead have a look" she said directing Jill to the door on the other side of the room. |
Faris sighed, sucking it up and forcing himself to respect his elders. He had been raised to be an Italian gentleman and no snob, elder or young, would make him forget his manners. "Great, Professor Connelly. A bit different from what they do back home, but all the same, just fine." He forced a small small onto his thin lips, nodding slightly in greeting at Connelly. He hoped that other freshmen would arrive soon; it was bound to become a bit awkward if no one ended up coming. Running a hand through his dark hair, he turned to check the door before turning back to face Professor Connelly. |

With curiosity taking over her features, Jill's hand met the doorknob and she proceeded to open the door, her light brown eyes widening slightly at the sight. It was a very neat and well-decorated room, nothing like the dormitories back in the main campus. It looked like... a real home. Except it kind of didn't at the same time; it seemed like a room pulled straight out of a catalogue. The colors were bright, yet not crazy enough to give anyone a headache. The room had obviously been enlarged with the use of magic, so that two rows of five beds lay each a good distance from the other, so each person occupying it had a nice amount of personal space around their bed and bedside tables. The beds were pretty large too, crowded with pillows, and looked soft enough to make the girl fall asleep comfortably just looking at them. "Alright, that's it," said Jill after taking a moment to soak all of this in. "I'm definitely rushing Alpha Pi Delta next week!" she said with a grin. |

"Why should it be surprising? Other than the fact we established I had looked like I wasn't paying attention in class," she asked, grinning back. "Doesn't mean other people can't notice things." She shrugged, as he mentioned how his roommate brought up the topics of, well, she assumed fraternities in context. It seemed that was the hot topic here. Whether you were planning to join, which ones were the best . . . it all made her head spin a little, and she was hoping she could figure that out later. Maybe after some talks with Onyx. But then he stepped back, coinciding with her confession of what she'd been thinking about during class, and a concerned expression flickered across her face. Great, possible new friend or something and he shied away at cats. Probably allergies, which was disappointing. "Um, yeah. Angus is a couple months old, and currently holed up under my bed. I rarely see him, to the point I wonder if he comes out at night to eat. Like I said, he's in an adjustment period." She just hoped he got over it soon, because it was hard knowing he wasn't happy. So, new topic, and Dominic had provided a good one. "What kind of puppy?" And then even he was changing the subject, and she laughed a little as the ridiculousness of both of them thrown off by her pet as a conversation topic hit her. "Scotland. And I'm guessing you're . . . not from England," she added, smiling a little at the observation. Accents. Always an interesting thing to learn about. |
Bye Ezra, Hello Jason ;) Quote:
"Ohh, right. Ummm..." She began, racking her brains, coming up with nothing. The red was creeping up on her face, but she was determined not to let it show. "Oh, you now what? I forgot my question!" She said with a shaky laugh, though she regained her composure. Her eyes flew to the clock and she hastily grabbed her belongings. "Professor, I'm really sorry to leave so suddenly, but I just remembered I was supposed to finish up some homework for another class," She explained as she grabbed a biscuit, and shot him a smile. "It was a pleasure talking to you, and when I remember my question again, I'll let you know!" She said as she waved to him and then she was gone. Quote:
She walked right up to them and smiled at him, narrowing her eyes a bit. "Lotts." |

But it was Rosie who he really wanted to talk to. "Hailey." He looked at her suspiciously. Was she up to something? |

This was not necessarily true, but what else was she supposed to say? Finally digging the lip balm out, she smeared some on her lips, and capped the tube. Mmmm vanilla. |

"Mhmm. So, what have you been up to?" she asked him now, her eyes moving on over to Rosie and resting there. It was pretty clear what he had been up to--but of course she didn't like it. |

"I've been studying." That and he had been thinking about Rosie. And trying to speak to her. And now that he finally had the chance to, Hailey was interfering. "What about you?" |

He unwrapped his sandwich and opened it up to check the freshness of the lettuce. Sometimes they tried to hide the brown leaves under fresh ones. He learned that trick a long time ago. Satisfied that all the lettuce was indeed fresh he took a bit and chewed it thoughtfully. There was an unopened letter from his half sister in his room that he had been staring at for a few days. He usually sent them back to where they had came from but this he didn't. He was thinking about finally opening it and reading it. |

And then Rosie began to talk again. "I know I didn't tell you and I'm sorrrrry. I'll make it up to you," she said as she looked back at her friend. Somehow. "I'll give you some chocolate once we get back to the dorm," she added. EVERYONE liked chocolate, and it was such a good way to show you're sorry to someone. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Jason," she responded. "How long have you been going here?" He looked her age, but he could possibly be a freshman for all she knew. When Hailey came up, the girl placed a smile upon her face for her. "Hey Hailey," she greeted the girl with a wave. |

He silently watched her leave and once she was out the door, he stood up and dash outside in the direction of the teacher's break room. Quote:

"It's surprising because I'm usually the one who isn't paying attention to those around me who aren't paying attention." He wasn't even sure if that made sense but he just spoke whatever came to mind. Whatever. He would concern himself with fraternities next year and not give it a case of thought until then. Dom would just have to bear with his roommates talking about that stuff. "I'm sorry," he apologized sheepishly. "I'm allergic to cats and I'd rather not have my allergies start up. How's this, since you aren't your actual cat I won't back up again," Dominic smiled, and took a step toward her and looked down at her face. "Sounds like your kitten is adjusting just like us then." Dogs weren't that weird when it came to going new places as cats. Or at least his dog was pretty subtle. When she laughed he couldn't help but chuckle himself. This girl was sure something and her laugh seemed to have some sort of affect on him. "He's an Australian Shepherd." Moose was a very good dog. He hadn't had him for a while and missed the puppy very much when he went home for the summer. "I'm not good with the accents," he admitted with a slight grin. "But you are correct," he pointed both of his index fingers at her for emphasis. "I'm Canadian," he admitted with a smile. He was a proud Canadian. He wore his colors proudly and liked telling people that he wasn't from Europe at all. |
"Sure," Faris nodded, "Erm, thanks, Professor." He threw another anvious glance at the door. He knew he was early... but not that early. Had anyone else gotten the memo? Had he set his watch an hour behind? He checked it once more and decided he hadn't. Tapping his foot on the tiled floor, he began to gaze around the room, pretending to be interested in a rather dull portrait simply to pass the time. |

She was almost relieved when he continued, to address her teasing question of why him being observant was surprising, and she laughed again. "So if you're not paying attention to the people around you who aren't paying attention, what would you be paying attention to?," she asked, amused at how anyone listening to them would probably be beyond confused, even though she actually thought their convoluted sentences made sense. It just went to show how different she was sometimes, but then being able to think about her cat while still keeping track of what was being discussed in class went to prove that. And then Dominic was apologizing, which meant he must have caught her momentary change in expression. That was embarrassing. "It's fine. A bit disappointing, to be honest, but allergies happen. Not much I, or anyone else can do about those," she said honestly, smiling a little at the last comment. "I guess that is a good thing, though. That I'm not my cat," she joked, before she found she needed to look up a little as he stepped closer. Not much, but it was still there. "So you spend a lot of time hiding under a bed too?," she continued teasing, since it was just too hard to resist. And then she felt bad as he mentioned what breed of dog he had, since she admittedly didn't know much about dogs. A little, but definitely not much about Australian shepherds. "So your puppy's doing okay? Not too traumatized by anything?" Innocuous questions. Then she wouldn't have to show how little she knew, which was always a sore spot with her. But then he was verifying her guess about where he was from, and she tried not to laugh at his gesture. "I find accents interesting. When you're around so many people that have similar accents, new ones just seem to stand out, yknow? But I bet if I talk to you long enough, I won't even notice it anymore." A challenge, in a way. Just to see if he seemed interested. "Canada, huh?," she mused, as he filled in the blanks for her. "I can't say I've ever been there. I'd like to travel, though. Look for exciting things to do." Yep, there was her adventurous side, coming out yet again. If only Corinna hadn't felt the need to point out how aimless Keira seemed half the time, she would have been able to travel for a while. Although, if she hadn't come here, she wouldn't have met Dominic. Or Onyx, or who knew how many other people, and that was nice too. |

The girl nodded as Harlem spoke of his classes. He was taking some interesting classes, that was for sure. And apparently he didn't like some of the things he had to do. But that was college for you. |

"Well, I'm a Sophomore," he explained. And she looked to be about his age. "Are you one too?" |
