Layla had finished her Auror training classes for the morning. She loved her life here. It was fun, exiting and her classes were amazing. But the best time in college. Well that would be in between classes when you get to socialize with others. Layla shared a dorm with two other girls. Being a sophomore she had been here for a year already and was so glad to be able to pass her knowledge down onto her two younger roomates, Jill and Dusty. Layla was half french and spoke in fluent french or British with a french accent. She had been living down in Dorset for along while however due to the fact her grandparents were British. Originally Layla had attended a French private witch academy and was taught in French and English. Finally she now had the opportunity to be taught some of the English schooling ways from her younger roomates. After all they had attended these schools.

Walking down the corridor after classes Layla found one ofher roomates. "Hello Jill" she said in her French accent. "How were classes this morning?"

Jillian was distracted from her thoughts as Layla suddenly arrived, greeting her in that French accent the younger girl couldn't help but smile at. It was rather catchy. "Hey, Layla," she greeted with a small smile, now beginning to stuff away the flyers and papers she had received into one of her class books. "They were okay, but it was hard concentrating... everyone was talking about rush week and all," she explained, her light brown eyes squinted slightly under the bright sunlight. "I'm still undecided on which sorority to join; or if I should join one at all," she added with a sigh, obviously a bit troubled by this. Jillian didn't really look like it, but school was a huge deal for her and she really wanted to graduate as one of the best. She was quiet for a moment, her gaze roaming over their surroundings for a moment before returning to the girl at her side. "Have you got any advice for a lost, slightly confused freshman?" she asked with a soft chuckle. "I could use it." Usually, the girl didn't describe herself as lost or confused - no way, she was too proud for that; but she knew Layla was someone trustworthy and wouldn't poke fun at her for it.

Amelia sighed slightly, it was only a month into classes and already she was frustrated; hopefully the students in her class would realize that she was not going to chase them around for assignments, this was university for merlin sakes and she really just needed to escape to her office for a while so that she could relax in peace. Heading down the corridor, she nodded at a few students who addressed her then immediately turned the corner and headed into her office; shutting the door behind her.

She began writing a new lesson plan for the next class and hoped that the students would actually pay attention this time and not decide to muck around with the potion ingredients which weren't cheap whatsoever, teaching Potions at this school just seemed to agitate her although she loved the subject; it just seemed that the people who decided to take her class weren't exactly as serious as she was about it.

Layla smiled at her. "Well...I was much the same way as you were when I first started. Wasn't sure whether I wanted to be in a sorority at all. Being originally French I didn't feel like I truely belonged here. I felt like an intruder to your magical society. But I strongly reccomend that you join my sorority, Alpha Pi Delta. They made me feel so welcome. Like I had belonged to this university ever since I was born. And the house mom is kind and accepting." she looked at Jill half concerned. " Why Is there something bothering you about our sorority then?" she asked. Most girls had wanted to become a member of a sorority as soon as the arrived at Wenlock. It was unusual that she didn't. Layla looked around at the walls and smiled. It was all so familiar to her now but to Jill it must be so strange, so unfamiliar.

Ethan sighed, making his way out of the Herbology classroom. Why did he have to take Medicanal? Right, because being a healer required he do such. Which, let me tell you, sucked. He heaved his backpack up higher and debated whether or not to head to the frat house, or back to his own room. Dom might be there, and thankfully, Ethan actually liked his room mate.

He could go see one of the professors as well, just because he was entirely too bored, which was not University student like. Weren't there supposed to be like...parties everywhere? That's what his 'brothers' said at least...

He stopped at the center of campus, staring at the map for all the classes, benefits of the firsties. Where to now?

Faris made his way through the courtyard, having just come from the grounds after a course required for his degree in Magizoology. He brushed some dirt off of his trousers. Today's lesson had been rather boring; only about bowtruckles and how to capture them without getting your eyes clawed out by their rather sharp nails. Of course, wands were forbidden and the task had required much running about the woods and getting down into the bushes and dirt. Faris had scurgio-ed most of the muck off of his attire, although a stray speck of dirt lay here of there on his clothes and a tiny leaf remained in his hair, much to his ignorance. He put his hands in his trousers as he walked along, contemplating about what events the future would hold. He definitely knew about something coming up that was called Rush Week. Heaps of freshmen would be in competition to enter into the oh-so-popular fraternities and sororities. In Italy, there was no such thing. Where there was the rare university and the even more rare students, there was a rather homely aura about it all. No competition, no trying to out-wit or out-muscle a peer. But after all, if had been Faris's choice to come to Wenlock University. If he had wanted to stay a farmboy or go to an Italian school, he could have easily stayed.

Not that the people of Wenlock weren't friendly. His roommates, Syler and Harlem, were great. Syler was a seasoned sophomore and it was fantastic to have a person around to show him the ropes of Wenlock. Harlem was a neat freak and always cleaning Faris's belongings, and Faris didn't mind one bit. He actually found it quite endearing; it was almost like living with his mamma back in the Italian countryside once more. His acquaintances were also pretty friendly as well. Brushing some stray dirt off of his white cotton tee shirt, he noticed two acquaintances on the pathway up ahead; none other than Jill and Layla. He had met them at the stray party or two but had not spoken to them too much. Passing them by, he smile and spoke in his slight Italian accent, "Good afternoon, ladies." Nodding, he continued on his way.

A few feet up the path he noticed another student who looked quite confused. "In need of some assistance, mate?" Faris had gotten the hang of some English slang during his first month at the school, so why not put it to use?

Dean walked out of his classroom having a fun time in this new college year. Students seem to be very interesting. He is very excited inside and was laughing, there are new ideas sprouting in his brain. He is walking towards the cafeteria and thinking of what to have for lunch when he made up his mind to do something fun.

He went across the hall and found his colleague, the Potions Professor. he knocked on the door and waited.

"Yeah sure i'd love to" she said walking through canvas towards the canteen. "Do you really think I woul join a sorority if it was to affect my studies. I want to be an Auror for goodness sake. There's an awful lot of studying required for that" she smiled. "Well i'll make sure you feel welcome if you do join in. Like they did with me." They reached the canteen. Layla bought a tea and sat down at a table. "Go ahead ask away" she grinned. Layla was extremely happy to help. She was so glad that she could speak fluid English. Even if her thick accent got in the way an awful lot.

Mia was in the middle of coming up with a new idea for a potion when she heard a knock at her office door, she sighed then got up from her desk and walked over to the door; when she opened it she was a little surprised to see the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor there. "Ahh Dean, please come in; so what can I do for you?" she asked curiously as she waited for him to head into the room so she could close the door.

Harlem's eyes were crossed. Whatever wizard wrote the Warlock Convention of 1420 had the tiniest handwriting known to man. And he had just read through the whole thing.

The combination of the crossed eyes and the sunlight made his eyes tear up and he had to wipe furiously to clear them before he stumbled. He was wearing his black robes with a fitted cap, he reached into his pocket and pulled out some tissues to wipe his eyes. He had two free periods and he was glad for it. Syler was driving him crazy leaving his clothes everywhere and Harlem wanted to get back to the room early to clean up. If he did it while Syler was there he would have to glue his tongue to the roof of his mouth. And that would just start a fight.

He walked across the quad heading to his room, but taking his time as the weather was nice outside.

Jillian followed Layla's lead through campus and over to the canteen, listening as she spoke, dismissing the idea that a sorority would interfere with studies as she herself was studying a career that required much studying. Jill grinned at this, well-aware of how dedicated Layla was to her studies, something she quite liked about the girl; one of her fears had been to end up dorming with someone who didn't care about their studies and only wanted to party. Luckily for Jill, neither Dusty or Layla were like that.

Once inside the canteen, Jillian proceeded to sit opposite Layla at the table and ordered a cup of black coffee. "I appreciate it," said the girl with a smile, turning back to Layla as the older girl promised to make her feel as welcome to the sorority as the the girls made her feel. "Well, first question - and every freshman's worry -" she gave a soft chuckle, smiling as her cup of coffee magically appeared on the table, "Is initiation going to be too horrible? I've heard stories… I know I shouldn't trust rumours, so that's why I'm asking. But I've heard some sororities will make you do some pretty humiliating things." Her brows furrowed. "Not that I'm scared or anything!" she quickly added - Jillian Holtcombe scared? Yeah, right! Err. "I'd just like a heads-up on what I'm getting myself into," she explained.

Lottiepot 03-20-2010 01:50 AM

Layla listened as the girl spoke. "Well the only initiation i've seen was my own and well they didn't make me do anything too horrible. It was just...normal I suppose. To be honest I'm not really sure what an initiation supposed to be like. Being French nationality and everything. There's nothing like this in France. But then again it could just be that I was unknown, they were anxious to what i'd be like. They didn't take too many risks. But i'm sure you'll be fine. Your perfect Sorority material anyway. And hopefully I may be able to sway the desicions anayway." she winked at her.

OOC: Sorry I know nothing about sororities. So yeah the response is a bit limited :P

Amelia closed the door after Dean entered the office and she sat back down at her desk then crossed her right leg over her left, smoothing out her black knee-length skirt slightly; when he decided to ask about how the students have been, she took a drink of coffee from her mug before speaking. "Well..they're not all that serious about taking Potions, I've not seen one student who has the true potential to succeed in my class and not everyone has managed to hand their assignments in on time which I have a big thing about." she said, resting her hand on the side of her face slightly.

"Oh, excuse me, then," Faris chuckled softly, embarrasedly rubbing his hand on the back of his neck. "But anyways, you're welcome." Nodding and a slight smile on his face, he waved off the student and began strolling once more. Now, wasn't that embarrassing? Faris had assumed the man to be a new student, but he had been dreadfully wrong. Like mamma had always said, Non guidicari mai un libro per il suo coperchio. Or rather, Never judge a book by it's cover. Walking along and scanning the area once more, his hazelnut eyes rested on none other than one of his eccentric roommates, Harlem. Faris smirked slightly as he approached him. Walking in step with the fellow freshman, he began, "Finally finished reading that novel, or essay, that you've been going on about?" It was obvious what he had been doing, considering his facial expression.

QueenGinger 03-20-2010 02:05 AM

bear with me, I'm behind!

First place that Mitchell headed to after class was of course the library to get a head start on the assignment and research that he might need in for it the future. He walked briskly to the enormous library only to find a book and sit down to not be able to focus quite clearly. He hadn't seen Onyx (sp?) yet in the month they had already been at school. It almost worried him that one of his very close friends still hadn't been spotted yet. Granted there were hundreds of wizards from all nationalities there at the school, he just didn't think that he'd gone this long without bumping into her. He closed the book, and checked it out, knowing that he'd finish the assignment very early and headed to get food, all the while walking across campus he searched for Onyx.

Kat finally placed the final touch to her room. She stood back in the doorway to admire the room. She noticed movement out the window and turned to see that classes had let out for the morning. She smiled, realizing that she was going to have to control the sophmores this week during their brainstorming for intiation rituals. She laughed as she thought of the previous years' initiations as she shut her door and made her way down to the main floor. In the kitchen she sat at the kitchen table with a glass of tea, wondering if she should go out for lunch or stay in.

Syler found himself in the overly crowded food hall, the chatter hadn't ceased once again, and once again Syler was picking his tray of food up and taking it outside where it was quieter. He sat down on a bench and began to eat his food, looking around the campus seeing the freshmen run around. He shook his head, he wasn't quite sure why he was here in the first place, he wasn't here for the fun of it.

ooc: No worries! ^_^

Jillian took a sip from her coffee, but coughed as it burned the tip of her tongue, as it was still too hot to consume. Making a face, she set the cup back on the table and turned her gaze to Layla as she spoke, sharing her own initiation experiences with her and assuring her that she was perfect sorority material. Jillian smiled at this. "I hope so," she said, giving a grin as Layla mentioned the idea of swaying the decisions. "I needed this," the girl muttered before nodding her head and adding, "I think I'll try out for Alpha Pi Delta," she decided with a smile. "Though I'd still like to hear from some of the members at Delta Zeta. Keep my options open, y'know." She picked up her cup of coffee again and blew on it a little to cool it down before taking a sip.

"But what about you?" she asked after a moment's silence, a smile adorning her lips. "I didn't ask how your class went. Though I suppose this mustn't be nearly half as exciting to you sophomores as it is to us freshmen," she added with a soft chuckle. "Is there anything else I should know about? Secret societies, perhaps?" she asked, raising her eyebrows slightly. She'd heard about secret societies in universities, and Wenlock, being as old as it was, probably had quite a few.

Lottiepot 03-20-2010 02:14 AM

Layla grinned. "Naturally. I tried out for Delta Zeta but I guess I just prefered Alpha Pi Delta. More my type of sorority. Well I really do hope you choose my sorority. It wouldbe so nice to have you there with us." Layla placed two sugars into her tea and stirred. She picked up the cup, blew gently and took a sip. Perfect. She was a bit of a perfectionist when it came to Tea. She though about her next question. "Well there's not any that i've heard of before. You'd have to ask around that question i'm afraid." She thought back to her morning classes. "Ah Auror training. It went very well thank you. We had mostly DADA work today. Leanring defensive and disarming spells that were never taught in previous schools. Rather fun actually. We had to disarm a few proffessors whilst we were at it. I think it gets more exciting as you learn the harder stuff. Brings you closer to your dreams. You know what I mean"

Jillian smiled as Layla explained she had tried out for Delta Zeta as well, but had preferred Alpha Pi Delta. As the girl then added that she didn't know about any secret societies and that she'd probably have to ask around to get the answer to that question, Jillian gave a soft chuckle and nodded her head understandingly. "Yeah, I imagine that must be why they're called secret societies..." she said. "Though I'd love to be invited to one," she added a little more thoughtfully, rather intrigued about this subject.

But she was quickly snapped out of thoughts as Layla went on, sharing with her how her first class had gone. Jillian's eyebrows rose slightly. "That sounds fun! I hope my classes get like that soon, so far for the most part I have lecture classes. They're not very fun," she said, making a face though there was soon a smile on her face. "Are you always this formal, Layla?" she asked curiously with a smile; something about the way Layla spoke just seemed a little more formal than the way your average college student spoke, and Jill couldn't help feeling a little curious about it.

Lottiepot 03-20-2010 02:32 AM

Layla creased her eyebrows. "I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean. Formal?" Layla was French she was brought up to speak respectfully and politely to anyone she met. She certainly wasn't your average college students. Yes she enjoyed things like fashion and boys. She was a rather spoilt child, her parents owning mansions and she was used to being spoilt. "I guess I do. Why do English students not talk formally to eachother? I have been taught to speak like this from a very young age. Elzaria's was a very strict school you know. Private academy for girls only."

Onyx Ivan-Knox started across the green, a few books tucked under her arm, a few stuffed into the bag on her hip. She looked very much like a muggle in a black shirt, her dark wash fitted jeans tucked into a pair of high-top Nikes, her favorite sneakers. Without even trying, she looked gorgeous, even in her casual clothing. Her long hair hung to her waist, cascading in dark waves that shined in the sun. Scanning the faces of the people, she looked for a familiar one. As if reading her mind, an old friend of hers appeared. Well, they weren't best friends or anything, but they were both from New York and had gone to school together since they were kids so they got along well.

"Hey Harlem," she greeted, smiling at the boy as she fell into step next to him. "What's up?"

When she looked up once again, her eyes landed on one of her best friends Mitchell. She hadn't gotten around to seeing him since she arrived at Wenlock for she had been so busy. But here he was, close enough for them to speak. Who would've thought she'd spot two friends so close in timing?

"Mitchell!" she called out, waving him over.

Jillian chuckled softly as Layla expressed confusion before going on to answer her question and ask why English students didn't speak formally to one another. Jill shrugged at this. "I'm sure some do... but most of us don't, I guess," she replied with a faint smile, listening as Layla went on to explain that she had gone to a very strict girls-only school. At this, Jill's eyebrows rose slightly and she nodded her head. "I didn't... go anywhere private or super strict, I guess," she said with a soft chuckle, her gaze falling to her nearly-empty cup of coffee now. She was quiet for a moment, rotating the cup in her hands absentmindedly as she seemed to turn a little thoughtful. "Hey..." she said suddenly, quietly. "Do you think you could show me the Alpha Pi Delta house?" she asked, returning her gaze to the girl before her with curiosity sparkling in her eyes. "Are you allowed to do that?" She had always been a little curious about what these sorority and fraternity houses usually looked like inside.

Layla thought about it for a second. "I'm sure I can" she said smiling and standing up. She placed her China cup into an enchanted washing bowl and waited for Jill. "Well come on then. It's right on the other side of campus, It may take a while to get there though." She thought back to the rules of the sorority. She was sure there was no rule against taking a wannabe sorority member into the house. It might help her make her decisions. Yes that was it. Layla would take her. It was at that moment that Layla remembered she had to attend an Auror meeting. "I'm really sorry but I have an important meeting to go to now. I promise you i'll show it to you soon."

OOC: I have to go now x

He was heading toward his room when some on walking up on slowed his walk. He turned and smiled at Onyx. If nothing else he liked her name. "Hey Onyx," she answered back casually. He shrugged. "I was just heading to my room to clean up before Syler gets back, but I am sort of hungry." He alluded. He looked up as she called over to Mitchell. "What to get something to eat?" he asked her.
