| | | ••KA: RPotW•• ->The Deumont House There is a house of teenage witches and wizards that weren’t accepted into any wizarding school; not Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, or even Hogwarts would accept any of them. It wasn’t because they weren’t skilled, no, far from it. They weren’t accepted because they couldn’t be; they couldn’t be accepted into the normal wizarding society. Some headmasters considered taking them in, helping them through normal classwork, but it was always ultimately decided that it just wouldn’t work out. Normal children would be envious, weirded out, or just scared of the outsiders should they be admitted into any school. And so they were sent to the Deumont House, a large house on the outskirts of London, sitting on a near eleven acres of land. These teenagers were especially gifted, some with extraordinary smarts and others with real powers that they were still learning to control. They ranged anywhere from telekinesis and psychic abilites to powers of controlling the elements (to a very small degree). The classes they enrolled in there were advanced, specializing in each group of students individually. (For example, for those that could read minds, there was a specific course for it that helped them train, control, and perfect it.) Their schedules resembled Hogwarts’ normal schedule in the idea that classes lasted the same amount of time, and they had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But that was about where the comparison ended. Since there’s only about fifty students, there are no quidditch teams, just friendly games in the expansive grounds. And instead of houses, there are simply many many dorm rooms throughout the mansion home with two people per room. Of course, girls are with girls and boys are with boys, but everyone has enough breathing room and the mansion is far from cramped. The ‘school’ is run by the Deumont family, an old family that has been dealing with special powers and training them for decades, they serve as the teachers and the patriarch of the family serves as the headmaster. The school only has five years to it, but students are only accepted at the age of 13, graduating when they are 18 and have been dubbed fully trained.
We’ll be starting with a group of 4th years, meaning that they’d be 16 or 17, and all should be made-ups. This roleplay is about the start of a new school year, and there should be a couple new students added in the mix so there’s some fresh meat but I’d also like to see some characters that have been there for a while. Up to you, though. Rules:
- Please, no one liners. I know you can add a little more to your posts and it really makes a difference for the entire roleplay. Please at least four lines/sentences.
- Also, I would really love for this roleplay to last. I just hate it when they die out and we’re left with half a story instead of something that could turn out really well. If you absolutely have to leave, let me know, but if you don’t think you have time, please don’t join.
- Please, use a little bit of nice grammar. No funky text talk.
- For the profiles: Please include a little more than just the basics, I love when I can get a feel for a character through a profile. I’m not asking for a life story, just something that let’s everyone else know more then their name, age, and ability. I’ll let you know if you need to add anything.
- Only one character per person unless you convince me that you can handle more than one via PM.
- And please tone it to one magical ability per person, I’d really like it if we didn’t have any characters with amazing super awesome ridiculous super powers of all time. They’re just teenagers, they should be a little limited and still in training.
- I'd like to have an even amount of boys and girls, if possible please!
- Have fun!

My Profile: Name: Tabithia Nortins Nicknames: Tab, Tabbie Age: 16 ½ Blood: Pureblood Special Powers: Has the power to control wind and waters, but only to a small degree Appearance: Personality:
Tabithia has always been a bit of a quiet person, sticking to the friends she knows best and remaining fairly quiet other than that. But once she gets to know new people, she can be quite friendly and inviting. She’s still working on her powers, learning to train them, and she’s had a few accidents with them before. She’s hoping this year she’ll be able to perfect them more so there will be less slip-ups in her daily life. Though she is sweet to everyone she likes, her temper needs to be watched as when she gets angry...She really gets angry. History:
Tabithia has always been a little strange, moreso than any of her friends when she was a child. Her powers first became noticeable when she was about seven and accidently brought water from a pond and dumped it over the head of a mean boy at school. She had wanted to, but was unaware that she could make it happen with her mind.
Her parents were unable to find any proper school that would take her in until they found the Deumont House which immediately accepted her at the age of 13. She’s been there for the past three or four years and has been loving it ever since. Family:
Father – Charles Nortins
Mother – Fransesca Nortins Extra: She's a bit of an animal lover and owns three cats, four birds, and a bunny. (Though she only has one cat at the school) Quote:

Delilah quickly got into a seat when the Headmaster finally made his appearance. She sighed, he gave this speech every year. She sat quietly until he was gone then stood. Delilah groaned when he mentioned food."I'm stuffed." she moaned and turned to her friends.

Coheed pushed herself up from the ground, and through the chair, sitting back down in it when she saw the headmaster walk into the room. She listened carefully, although each year he usually said the same thing. Behave, don't hurt anyone, have fun, blah blah blah. Ah well, sometimes it needed to be said. But it didn't take too long to say, and before she knew it, they were invited into the dining halls. "Let's get our grub on." She smirked.
Gabe entered the room quietly as he saw the headmaster enter it to, he kept his eye on the girl that approached him earlier in the evening. He still felt terrible. Should he apologize? Wait... he did already didn't he. She seemed fine now...
And then the speech was over. It seemed as though he didn't pay attention to any of it, but everyone was starting to get up and move for supper. Time to go... Gabe got up, and then walked into the diner hall, sitting down first, on the back end of the table. |

Enid ate her watermelon pieces as the headmaster talked, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand every now and then, ever the little well-mannered lady she was. She giggled to herself every now and then at some parts of the headmaster's speech, until it was over and he announced they could depart to the dining hall. Enid made a face. "Uwaaaaaaa... I'm too full to eat now," she whined, after having eaten nearly all her watermelon all by herself. She got up from her seat and gathered her things, going a couple rows back to join the rest of the group with a smile. "You guys all ready to go?"

Decided to show up, huh?" She laughed and gave her friend a hug. "Missed ya!" She then turned to the quiet boy standing next to her. She heard his power, (which she happened to be extemely jealous over!) and greeted him with a heart-warming smile. "Colleen O'Callaghan, so nice to meet you!" She told him, tucking a strand of dark brown hair behind her ear. "Oh, and I can affect peoples moods based on my mood. Y'know, like, if I'm really happy than you probably will be too. I'm also getting a little control over the weather, the same way though. Only affected by my mood." She stated this last part with a bit of a humph, knowing her power might seem a little more impressive if her mood wasn't a factor.
Arissa laughed and hugged Colleen as she finally came over. "Of course! I couldn't leave you here in some of your fowler moods! Especially if you need a pet to curl up with!" she said. Then, with a quick stretch, she transformed into a large dog and barked up at her friend. She wagged her tail, her tongue hanging out to one side before she transformed back. "Missed you too!" she said with another quick hug.
Dimitri smiled and nodded once at the girl. "Well, then our powers are related..." he said with a smile. "Plants need both your good and bad moods," he continued. Quote:

He smiled as she mentioned a wolf following her. Of course. That was definitely the Arissa he knew. "Have you been working on birds at all? I figure it'd be brilliant to be able to fly!" Calix said.
Seeing that Dimitri was not particularly enjoying all the questions, Calix instead turned towards Enid, who looked rather bored. She was now seemingly talking to herself about how hungry she was. Calix could sympathize with her on that one. He was starving. "Yeah, I'm hungry, too Enid. We should convince Dimitri to grow us a few potato or corn plants. Maybe even an apple tree or two." Calix said, nudging Enid and winking. Oh, the trouble he was going to get into this year!
"Yes!" she said with a bright smile. "I actually was able to take on an owl form this summer- it was quite fun! Did you know that they can turn their heads nearly all the way around?" she asked with a grin. "But flying is SO much fun," she said with a sigh. Birds were one of the transformations that she enjoyed the most- but they were a little more difficult than most animals. They had a different bone and muscle structure, so the transformation took more time and energy.
Dimitri looked up as Calix and Enid mentioned his name. Hearing the conversation, he smiled slightly. "Well, the problem is that I don't have either of those seeds with me- I can't just grow anything on command," he said with a shrug. Apple trees were his favorite, they provided not only food, but nutrition for the animals in the area as well. And, he wouldn't brag, but his apple trees always tended to grow the best apples. Quote:

She looked back over at the new boy- Dimitri. Co gave him a small wink. The boy seemed to be releaved that everyone had back off a bit. It was something that happened though. When Coheed told people to do something, they usually did. Just because she could go into someone's head, so everyone assumed that she knew something they didn't.
Coheed sat back down in her chair. "Yes food, I wish you would all stop talking about it." Her stomach had been growling since noon, but she was too caught up in everything around her, packing, getting ready, excitment. But now she could relax with her friends. "I am just so-" BANG. Well perhaps a little to relaxed, for Coheed had phased through the chair, and was now laying under it on the floor. "UGHH! I hate when that happens." She managed to moan and laugh out as she rubbed her head as she stayed lying on the floor. Arissa shrugged and smiled. "Well, I am quite glad that you are here," he said with a bright smile. "Oh, don't get all sentimental on me!" she said with a laugh. "You'll get some of the others going too!" As they all went to sit down, Arissa couldn't help but laugh as Coheed slipped through the chair. "Sorry, Coheed!" she said, bringing her hand up to cover her laughter.
Dimitri looked up as the headmaster entered the room. He was an imposing figure despite his older look. He listed carefully to his words and settled back once he was done. No fighting- he could do that... but who knew what the semester was going to bring. Arissa smiled as the Headmaster entered and gave a similar speech from the many years she had been there. Her stomach grumbled right on cue and she looked toward the kitchen for the food. She hoped that there were some good vegetarian dishes available... most animals she wasn't able to eat- for good reason.

"Mr. Mute!" she called out to him, waving. And though she didn't necessarily know him all that well yet, she knew better than to expect a wave back or even the slightest sign of friendliness. "C'mon, let's go sit there and bother him," Enid suggested, turning to the others. Clearly, she was a stubborn one and she wouldn't give up until she got something out of this mystery kid.

| Blonde&Proud Sirius Sense of humor Tabithia, having not eaten a single thing since lunch that day, quietly made her way over to the dining room behind the rest of her friends. She smiled slightly to herself at the sight of the warm dining hall, one giant round table in the middle for the staff and smaller round tables all around that for the students. She looked around for a moment, trying to determine where her friends were, when she saw Enid call out to a 'Mr. Mute'. Upon realizing that she was talking to the boy she had been trying to coerce out of silence earlier, Tabbie let out a soft giggle, making her way over to Enid's side. "Ms. Banvard, am I seeing you harrrassing another student?" she asked in her best impression of the headmaster. The only thing that really gave her away was the airy giggle that followed.

Enid had the most determined of smirks on her innocent-looking face as she watched Gabe trying to remain unnoticed when, suddenly, a voice came behind her, addressing her as 'Ms. Banvard' and asking her if she was harassing another student. Enid jumped; she knew the voice was too feminine to belong to the headmaster himself, but it could've easily been one of the teachers or something. She turned around sharply, ready to bombard the newcomer with excuses and explanations, only to find that it was Tabithia who had snuck up on her. Enid's eyes widened and she let out the most amused of chuckles. "Tabs!" she exclaimed. "Even you are feeling inspired to cause a little trouble this year, huh? I can't say I saw that coming, to be honest... maybe my powers are failing," she began muttering to herself randomly. "Come, let's go bother the quiet kid," she said, taking Tabbie's hand and leading her over to the large table near the back of the Hall. "Calix, Alex, Arissa, Dimitri" - and she went on for about a minute, calling out to everyone - "Come join us!"

| Blonde&Proud Sirius Sense of humor Tabithia was about to respond to Enid's observation that she was feeling rebellious this year when her hand had suddenly been taken and she was being dragged away towards the back table with the excuse that they were going to bother the quiet kid. Blue eyes widening, Tabbie wasn't sure what to say at first, "B-But, I..." she trailed off, "Shouldn't you just leave the poor boy alone, Enid?" she asked her friend as they got closer to the table, her wits finally back. "He obviously doesn't like having many people around."

"Well..." Enid stopped for a second, her brows furrowing as she thought. She watched the table at a distance for a second before turning to Tabbie. "Oh, but we're not going to bother him! That was just... an expression!" she said. "We'll just happen to sit at the same table; it's just a coincidence, happens all time; people are always sitting at other people's tables!" she rambled on, as was typical of her, before her tones turned a bit more serious. "To be honest, I really want to see him perform his power. I know it's fire, Co told me, but I want to actually see it done. Call me nosy if you must, I know it's very nosy of me, but... I can't control my curiosity!" she said, her forehead creasing slightly, as if curiosity was a monster that controlled her and there was nothing she could do about it.

| Blonde&Proud Sirius Sense of humor Tabithia listened hesitantly as Enid went on about how coincidences happened all the time, more people sitting at others' tables happened all the time. But as she went on to explain that she really just wanted to see him use his power of fire, Tabbie's eyebrows rose in a very skeptical manner. "Enid, that could be dangerous!" she whispered as though someone would bother to listen in on their conversation. "What if he doesn't have control of it yet?" she predicted, "Besides, you already saw his power! Need I remind you of the second degree burn healing I had to do on your right palm earlier?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Nikolaus Callaghan First Year | Toothpick Disappearer * Likes her 'figgies' * Mmm... Bagels! Gabe was burning a line into the table with his finger, paying attention to really no one. Suddenly he heard a shout out. with a small jump the spot he was burning a line into caught flame. "Oh no." He muttered softly as he tried to blow the small flame with his breath like a birthday candle. Too much of a fool, he was too much of a fool. When the flame was out he looked up.
It was that girl again. What entranced her about him? And... and was she bringing everyone with her? Oh no no no no. Not this. Gabe let out a sigh as he stuck his hands in his pocket. There was no getting away from her was there?
Coheed laughed as she looked up and Enid's attempt to make the boy come out of his shell once again. "You go ahead" She smiled as she walked over to another spot on the table. I'll be here when the boy burst in flames... or something. She thought to herself.

Enid's green eyes left Tabbie's blue ones as the girl warned her that it could be dangerous to bother someone who probably had no controls over his powers yet before then reminding her of the burn she had received earlier that evening. The young girl brought up the hand that had been burnt and examined it for a brief second before letting it fall to her side once again and returning her gaze to Tabbie. "You worry too much, Tabs, we'll be fine!" she said with a grin, as if everything Tabbie had just said went in one ear and out the other. And so, she made her way over to that table at the back of the Hall and sat down, as if she had been expected there rather than invading the poor boy's space. "Show me your powers," she asked bluntly, giving Gabe her most serious look (though even with it, it was hard to take her seriously).

Gabe coughed, as though he was drinking something and was caught off guard. Yes, he was caught off guard indeed, he saw her coming, knew she was coming- but still. He coughed more so on his own words. How could she be so... so... so blunt. To demand something. The only expierence he had gotten from her was that she was very demanding, yet there was something very interesting about her. Perhaps it was because she was so demanding. He didn't really know. "E-e-excuse me?" Gabe managed to spit out. "My p-p-powers?" |

Enid nodded her head as Gabe stuttered out a response to her. She couldn't help but feel rather proud, though - this was the most she had gotten him to speak since they first met! An improvement (or so she thought, anyway)! "Yes, your powers," Enid said. "That's why you're here, isn't it? I know it's fire, but... show me something; a trick, or something of the sort," she asked of him, beginning to look more like a curious child at an amusement park than the silly sixteen-year-old she was.

Yes, demanding indeed. Gabe thought of something to say, anything. His mouth stayed agape, as his mind searched for something. A trick? Tricks... tricks... "I... I don't have any tricks." He said quietly, running his finger in the groove of the table he managed to burn. Tricks, his powers. Well no, he couldn't think of any tricks at all.

Enid narrowed her green eyes just very slightly at the boy before her as he told her he didn't have any tricks to show her; she wasn't sure whether to believe him or not; for all she knew, he could've known plenty of tricks but just didn't want to show her. She focused for a moment, trying to predict something, predict whether he'd show her a trick or not. But nothing came to mind. Stupid powers, never work when you need them, she thought to herself with disappointment. She let her gaze fall to the table for a moment, quiet until she thought of something. She took one of the spoons resting beside the empty plate that sat before her and held it up toward Gabe. "Melt this spoon," she asked of him. "If you melt it, I promise you won't have to deal with me again for the rest of the school year" - lie - "and you can go back to being relaxed and nuisance-free."

Gabe looked up at the girl, his hazel eyes staring her down, and then he looked at the spoon. Melt the spoon. "I... I can't." Well this was partly true. He could warm the spoon... but not melt it. Wouldn't he get in trouble? Ruining property of the house...
He looked up at the girl again and then over at the fork beside him. Instead of taking the spoon from the girl's hand, gabe grabbed hold of the fork beside him. He picked it up, letting heat travel to his finger tips, counting inside of his head- and thinking don't screw this up. With eyes closed, a light fire covered his hands, as it warmed the fork, and he bent the prongs in swirls, and turned the fork in a circular shape. Then he counted once again.
He opened his eyes, hand cool now. "Here." He muttered softly, grabbing hold of the girl's hand softly and slipping the fork over her hand, as a bracelet. The fork now resembled a bracelet, and the prongs, swirls- almost like octopus tentacles.

Enid's head almost dropped to the table in defeat as Gabe first spoke, telling her he couldn't melt the spoon. Uwaaaaaaaaa, why not?! She was just about to nag him, to try new methods and threaten to follow him around the rest of the school year if he didn't melt something, anything - yes, she could be quite the nuisance when she set her mind to it. But before she could act on this evil plan, Gabe had taken a fork into his hand. Enid blinked, watching with curiosity as his eyes closed and a coat of fire began to cover his hand.
"Whoa..." the young girl muttered with amazement, dropping the spoon back to the table and focusing her attention on what she was witnessing. It was even better than she had expected! Her green eyes watched as the fork went from perfect and straight, to circular, with its prongs curved into swirls. She blinked with pure surprise and amazement until he opened his eyes and muttered a 'here', then taking her hand into his own to slip the bent fork around it like a bracelet. Unintentionally, Enid gave a bit of a jump as his skin met hers. It didn't hurt, but after her last experience she had grown a bit paranoid; her hand tickled as it remembered that earlier burning sensation. But that thought was pushed aside as she brought her hand closer to herself so she could examine the new bracelet wrapped around her wrist. "That... is... wicked!" she said with a large grin, obviously quite surprised with what she had just witnessed. "Thanks! Um..." she added, but then her grin faded slightly, "What's your name?"

Gabe smiled nervously and managed to let out one soft chuckle. Wicked... well that was the first time he had ever gotten a positive reaction to his.. power. The shining smile on the girl did make him feel... well okay too. A part of him warmed to know someone didn't go running off, and not the usual warmth he felt. Well... this time he didn't burst in flames, so that was probably part of the reason she didn't go running.
His name!? At that point it seemed as though his name slipped his mind. name.. name... name... "Uhh..." name... "G-Gabrielle... It's Gabrielle... or Gabe." He said in his still hush tone.

Enid was back to admiring her new piece of jewelry with fascinated eyes; she wasn't much of a girly girl despite her very feminine features, but ha! This was an exclusive item! She couldn't help but absolutely love it. But she ripped her gaze away from the fork wrapped around her wrist as Gabe spoke again, telling her his name. "Nice name," she said, as if they were commenting about a piece of clothing or something, "I'm Enid Banvard. And if you hadn't figured it out yet - which you probably haven't, I haven't really given you many clues - my power is... well... actually, can you guess what my power is?" she asked with a bit of mischief beginning to sparkle in her green eyes. "What do I look like I would be able to do?" she asked, curious as to what his answer would be. Did she look like a person who could predict the future at all? And that was one thing she couldn't predict. Stupid powers not working at will...

This whole communication thing... it wasn't really something he was use to. What did this Enid want from him? It must have been something. Gabe just found it weird. People usually let him be. But this girl...
And now she was asking how she looked, what her power was. She looked to innocent to have a 'power'. This Enid looked too much like a porcelain doll to be able to do anything destructive that was for sure. But what she could do- Gabe had no clue. "I don't know." |

Enid let her head drop to the table this time. And it really hurt, so she pulled it back up half a second later with a bright red spot in the middle of her forehead now. "You don't try much, do you, Gabby?" she asked, her eyebrows raising slightly. And she didn't need to predict the future to know the boy didn't like that nickname, so she quickly added, "Ah! No complaints, that shall be your name from now on. Or at least until I feel like not bothering you anymore," she said with a nod of her head. "I know I promised not to bother you anymore, but... well, I lied," she confessed flatly, obviously feeling no remorse for being a little liar and tricking Gabe earlier. "Anyway - I can predict the future. For the most part... I can only do very minor things - guess who will walk through the door or approach me next, etcetera. But only if I'm concentrated enough on it. I can't really foretell something out of will too often - like that incident with my hand earlier, things like that--" and she went on and on and on. About five minutes later, she finally stopped talking. "Okay, I promise I'll really leave you alone now... if you answer one more question," she offered, putting on her most innocent smile, trying to convince the boy she was trustworthy. Which she was... just not when she promised to leave him alone. She liked being a nuisance too much.

The girl liked to talk. Gabe didn't mind that too much. Seeing that he didn't like to talk alot. If she kept talking, he wouldn't really have to. Right? But telling the future, that made sense. It was an innocent act, although he doubted Enid was all that innocent, she looked it. She could play the role if she wanted to.
Gabe doubted that the girl would leave him alone after he answered what question she wanted to ask. Yet he had come to learn (in a very short time) that he really had no choice in the manner. He could always burst into flames and hoped he turned into ash? Well no.. that wouldn't be very acceptable. "Yes?" He asked, hoping that it wouldn't be that bad of a question.
