Per Ardua Ad Astra Through....adversity to the stars...

I know a lot of people are making up all these extravagant RPGs right now, you know, combining shows and movies and other themes with Harry Potter, but I really wanted to take it back to basics. I mean, we all know Harry's story, we read about it for hours on end because we can't put the book down. And we know some things about Harry's parents, but the rest is really just guess work. I know there are a few Marauder's RP's out right now but I never seem to join them on time so I decided to make my own. James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Petigrew and Lily Evans all fascinate me and since we don't have any books written on them, it's really up to us to make up their story. So that's why I've made up this RP.

It's based on the relationships of James and his best friends as well as the relationship of James and Lily, after all, without James and Lily, there would be no....the boy who lived and no defeat of the great Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort. It's based on the struggles they all go through and how they work to overcome them.

I have no real prference to how we take this, but I have a few things to help the plot along. I would like them to be in sixth year, and at this point, Lily still "hates" James, or at least acts like it. Once we've got more into the RP, we can start to make decisions as to when they should start dating. But this RP isn't only focused on those two, it also is about Sirius, Lupin and Peter and even Snape. Seeing as we don't know many of the students who would have attended at that time, we will have a bunch of made ups to play those characters. You guys can basically make up any relationships, except for the one we know, James and Lily, but by all means, either of them could date other students before they start dating each other. So have fun and let's try and make this a great RP, please only ask for characters if you will be committed. Also, a huge pet peeve of mine is ONE SENTENCE POSTS, so please don't do that, try to go into some detail, have something intersting to say to move the plot along, hehe.

Louisa smiled and hugged Lily, dropping her journal in the process.

"My summer was so boring! I had to babysit my next door neighbour's dog for two weeks, and it bit me! Look!" She exclaimed, lifting her left sleeve to show a faaint bite mark/scar on her forearm.

"Enough about me, what about you? How was your summer? It's been so long since we've spoke!"

Remus shrugged his shoulders slightly. "Nothing too exciting. Alot of reading. We did take a trip to the States. Our usual routine of going for a few days so that mom can shop and dad can talk business." He replied to Peter in a not-so-enthusiastic way. "And yours?"

"Breakfast was a loooong time ago." He nodded when Daniel walked up to them. "Hi, dude." He said. "How is life?"

A little startled on Ally's comment on Sirius, James winked at him before Sirius turned to face her. Someone likes Padfoot. He racalled her smiling once when she had seen Sirius. Change of tactics. He grinned when Sirius said he was a walking miracle.

He was sure Ally mouthed 'He's weird' to the rest of them. Perhaps she had forgotten she was mouthing it to James, Sirius' best friend. He shrugged his shoulders and watched the two of them.

The train slowly started to inch forward and she hopped up the stairs after Ally's retreating back.

Peter Pettigrew groaned inwardly as he saw the train start to inch forward.
"Come on." he growled at his trunk as it dragged slowly behind him.
Out of breath he finally managed to make it to the stairs and drag his trunk on board just as the train started to speed up.
"Oy, Black, gimme a hand will you?" he said, wheezing slightly as he saw the Marauders standing before him.

Lily spun around to see Peter struggling with his trunk, seeming to have just made it on the train in time.
"Here, let me help." she said, ignoring Peter's look of annoyance at a girl helping him.
She helped him drag the trunk on board and stuff it into the luggage compartment.

James looked around and noticed Lily, avoiding him. Grinning, his hand automatically ruffled his hair and he walked up to her. "Morning Evans." He said with a grin on his face. "Had a nice summer?" He asked her, after she had helped Peter with his luggage.

Sirius had followed the others into the compartment and was beginning to curse the trolley lady for taking so long to get to them. Of course, they could have always had a go at conjuring some food, but past records indicated that it wasn't a method with the most edible results. He had just propped his long legs on the opposite bench, stifling a yawn, when out of the blue, an angry cat entered the compartment and jumped on him.

"What the--" he yelled, trying to escape its claws. His reactions were unusually sharp, but this time it had caught him off-guard. He swore loudly, certain that he was offering a quite entertaining show to his fellow Marauders. When at last he managed to disentangle the cat's claws from his hair, he more or less threw it onto Peter's lap.

"Get rid of it for me, will you, Pete?" Sirius said, as he slid out of the compartment, standing in the doorway. His eyes followed James' glance towards Snape, and almost instantly, an identical grin lit his face.

Remus turned to look up at James when he felt eyes on him. He wants me to go? Oh bother.. He then persceded to give James a dissaproving glance as if to say 'You Are Nothing But Trouble!' and then gazed over to Peter to see if he would join the troublesome duo.

OOC: just going back to James' post here, slight rewind hehe

Lily turned to look at James who had just spoken to her and gave him a slightly annoid look. Oh stop it Lily she thought to herself, maybe he's grown up this summer, you could atleast be the polite one here. She quickly relaxed her face at him and smiled, still somewhat forcedly, but a smile none the less.
"My summer was fine, thank you James, how was yours?" she asked, somewhat surprised as he helped her with Peter's trunk.

Once the trunk was in place she turned back to Louisa and picked up her dropped notebook, handng it back to her.
"Wow, thats quite the scar Louisa! He musn't have been a very nice dog." she said looking down at Louisa's bight mark.

Peter gulped slightly as the cat landed on his lap, and proceeded to look up at him with sharp eyes. Afterall, cats weren't generally his friend, but the cat didn't seem to be attacking him like it had Sirius. He figured habnding the cat to another dog like animagus wasn't a good idea so he slowly stood up, brining the cat with him. He held it out in front of him as if it were some bomb about to go off.
"I'll be there in a minute Moony." he said to Remus and then headed into the girls compartment.
He knew exactly whos cat this was.....miss Ally's......he took a deep breath and then bravely headed into the compartment, not able to make eye contact with her beautiful face.
"Your cat Ally,...it er.....was in our compartment.....gave Sirius quite a surprise." he said grinning sheepishly.
He handed her the cat and quickly turned and left, hustling along to catch up with the Marauders.

The rocking of the train had made Sloane very sleepy. Not wanting to ruin her sleeping cycle she tried very hard to not drift off. Lifting herself from her seat she decided to take a walk about the train. Maybe she’d be able to find someone seeing how she hadn’t seen anyone yet. Exiting the compartment she began to make her way down the corridor. The movement of the train made it difficult to walk which almost made her lose her balance.

Passing Severus’ compartment once again she noticed that he was still alone. This wasn’t surprising at all. Moving on and not giving it anymore thought she noticed a few familiar faces. It didn’t take a seer to know where these boys were headed. Coming upon them she stood in the middle of the corridor and greeted her fellow school mates.

“And where are you handsome boys headed?” she looked at both James and Sirius and knew that Remus and Peter were probably close behind. “Not off to cause any trouble I hope…although some excitement would be fun. The train ride has been absolutely dreadful.”

His posture had changed significantly, he somehow looked more mature and yet more appealing at the same time. So many girls had fallen for that, and yet Sloane had never seemed interested. Angelica eyed Peter mistrustfully, but behaved. As she was leaving the compartment with Peter, her eyes darted to Sirius and she let out a low hiss.

Ally looked up when Peter entered. She was a bit softer with him and Remus than she was with James and Sirius, so she smiled lightly and replied, "Thank you, Peter. Would you mind telling Sirius that that was payback for the pranks." She knew he was a little nervous around her, so she dropped her mysterious demeanor around him and played straightforward so he wouldn't get the wrong idea. The last thing she needed was unneccesary attention.

The fact that Sirius had referred to Sloane as “pretty lady” didn’t phase her at all. Knowing Sirius he probably did that to many girls. Any other girl would have gone fan girl crazy; but not Sloane. Sloane knew Sirius well and it would take more than pet names and winks to put her under his spell.

“Ah…yes I too noticed how bored Severus looked. Do you really think you’ll be able to brighten his spirits?” she questioned as she removed a large clump of what looked like cat hair from his shirt.

"Might If I join ya guys??" Daniel looked into the compartment Sirius, James and the rest were sitting. "As usual having trouble finding a seat "Daniel said sheeplishly. "Hey Sloane!! Had a good summer??" Daniel asked smiling. "Hey James..!" Daniel turned to James Potter. They guy who had fallen for Lilly Evans, unfortunately for Daniel ofcourse.

Peter shrunk back as Sloan and Daniel joined the group. He didn't say anything and simply waited patiently to see what would happen next.

Lily shook her head. "No James, my sister in general is frightened of me and doesn't bother me. I'll talk to you later though.." she said quickly, for she saw that Sirius seemed impatient to head off and undoubtedly cause more mayhem with his Marauders, and secondly, she was sure this forced politeness was not going to last much longer. Or atleast that's that was her rationalization that she stuck to.

She headed back into the compartment and sat down across from Louisa and Ally.
"No, nothing to exciting for me this summer." she replied to Louisa. "How about you?"

Severus sat slumped in his seat, glaring out the window at the blurred images rushing past. He was trying his utmost hardest to ignore the voices outside his compartment. Snape wished he had brought a book with him; all he had was his secondhand school books and he had finished-and memorized-those ages ago.

"Well then. Let's not waste time and deprive dear Snivellus of his share of fun." He said and started to walk towards the compartment Snape was in. He had always thought Snape was jelous of him. Picking fights with him on many opportunities when he was alone. Unfortunately for the poor block, he was rarely alone and even when he was, Snape never managed to win except this one time when. Argh. Forget it.

He lead the way into Snape's compartment. "Woops. Looks like we walked into Snivellie's compatrment." He snickered. "Ready for another year at Hogwarts? Already memorised everything, have you Snivell?"

Remus grumbled, disrupted from his reading, and walked down to see Peter, Daniel, Sirius, and James all in a bunch right by the cabin of.. hmm.. he could only guess Severus's.

Shaking his head, he went and walked towards his friends, yet stopped and watched as Lily had just walked into her cabin. Poking his head inside, he peered about to see Lily, Louisa, and Ally. Coughing softly, he remarked softly, "Hi." He stared, feeling a little awkward just standing there. "Er... Lily, you wouldn't happen to know what they (addressing the other 3) were talking about.. well doing.. would you per chance?"

Louisa was about to answer Lily when she noticed Remus come into the compartment. She blushed again, and turned her attentions to the pasisng scenery. She did and didn't want Remus to know that she liked him. It had always been hit and miss with him. You were'nt always quite sure what he was thinking. Still holding her journal, Louisa opened it to the last page and began to write.

Awaiting Lily's reply, Remus gazed over at the other two, realizing he had not said 'hi' to them. Not wanting to be rude, he put on a smile. "Oh.. good morning Ally. Good morning, Louisa." With a nod, he glanced out to the moving scenery.

"Hey Remus. How was your summer?" Louisa asked looking up from her book. She looked in the direction that his eyes were pointing and noticed him looking out of the window.

"Pretty isn't it? Shame it has to go by so quickly, but then again, if it didn't we wouldn't get to Hogwarts on time."

Hearing Louisa, he turned to look at her. "Ahh, my summer. Thrilling." Remus replied sarcastically. "Rather boring, I mean. Yours?"
His gaze returned back to that of the outside, he chuckled some. "Ahh.. yes. It is rather nice. It would be wonderful to .. ah.. what's the saying.. ah 'stop and smell the roses' but yes, we would not make to Hogwarts that fast, you're right." He clamed to her remark.

"About the same really, just an incident with a dog. That was the most interesting part of the summer." Louisa replied still looking out of the window. She turned her attention to Remus with a faint smile on her lips. "Where do you come up with all of these sayings? You're always coming out with them. Not that it's a bad thing!" She added hastily, not wanting to offend him.

Remus leaned against the frame of the doorway, not again glancing toward Louisa. "A dog?" He perked an eyebrow slighty, though did not haste to ask her what she meant. Of course, he didn't want to be a snoop. "These.. sayings?" He chuckled. "Maybe I read too much." Simply remarking with shrug, Remus never really gave to much about what he said, he was just careful as to what it was he did say.

"It bit me." Louisa reiterated, noting Remus' curious look. "Well, whenever I see you, you do have your nose in a book. Not that I can talk." She replied with a laugh pointing to her own book in her lap.
