Per Ardua Ad Astra Through....adversity to the stars...

I know a lot of people are making up all these extravagant RPGs right now, you know, combining shows and movies and other themes with Harry Potter, but I really wanted to take it back to basics. I mean, we all know Harry's story, we read about it for hours on end because we can't put the book down. And we know some things about Harry's parents, but the rest is really just guess work. I know there are a few Marauder's RP's out right now but I never seem to join them on time so I decided to make my own. James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Petigrew and Lily Evans all fascinate me and since we don't have any books written on them, it's really up to us to make up their story. So that's why I've made up this RP.

It's based on the relationships of James and his best friends as well as the relationship of James and Lily, after all, without James and Lily, there would be no....the boy who lived and no defeat of the great Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort. It's based on the struggles they all go through and how they work to overcome them.

I have no real prference to how we take this, but I have a few things to help the plot along. I would like them to be in sixth year, and at this point, Lily still "hates" James, or at least acts like it. Once we've got more into the RP, we can start to make decisions as to when they should start dating. But this RP isn't only focused on those two, it also is about Sirius, Lupin and Peter and even Snape. Seeing as we don't know many of the students who would have attended at that time, we will have a bunch of made ups to play those characters. You guys can basically make up any relationships, except for the one we know, James and Lily, but by all means, either of them could date other students before they start dating each other. So have fun and let's try and make this a great RP, please only ask for characters if you will be committed. Also, a huge pet peeve of mine is ONE SENTENCE POSTS, so please don't do that, try to go into some detail, have something intersting to say to move the plot along, hehe.

Ally surprisingly turned red as he called her "love". She turned her face away from Sirius and paid attention to a teacher who had accidentaly turned his goblet into a raccoon. She laughed slightly and momentarily forgot the pain in her arm and leg.

Lily looked up quickly when she heard Sirius call Ally "love", she narrowed her eyes and coudln't help but notice the smile and enjoyment on Ally's face and Sirius' gaze that lasted just a little to long on her. There was deffinately something going on. However she was further along the table and couldn't catch Ally's eye. Instead she placed some food on her plate, thinking that if Ally and Sirius started going out, that would mean spending all the more time with the Marauders. And of course James. She ignored the butterlfies in her stomache as this thought crossed her mind. Everyone already expected it, that James Potter and Lily Evans should be dating. But why? Hadn't they always seemed to loath each other, and bicker over every little thing. Of course it was always James arrogance that turned her off of him, or maybe it was simply that Lily just couldn't back down from an argument or not put him in his place for being an idiot. However much she pretended not to like him, his dashing smile, his arrogance and even the stupid way he ran his hand through his hair to make it look as though he had just got off a broom, all those stupid little things made her fall for him even more. But she couldn't fall for him she thought and shook her head. She didn't trust boys at all, especially heartbreakers like James Potter. Perhaps that reason alone was why she would never allow her self to fall for him, why she put up the wall and acted like she hated him, simply because falling for him would mean opening up, taking down that wall that protected her, and blatantly putting herself in the position to get hurt. No she wouldnot do it, no matter how much she cared for him, no matter how much everyone expected it, she wouldn't do it. And with that upsetting thought she turned to Louisa, deciding that thinking about it was too upsettting and she needed a distraction.

"I hope they get the sorting going soon, its always exciting to see our new Gryffindors!" she said smiling in spite of how she felt.

"Yes," Ally replied. "I certainly hope so, too. I had fun mentoring that first year girl, Emily last year. Maybe I'll get to again this year." She was beginning to feel steadily worse as the pain rose at an alarming rate. That made her temperature rise quite a bit and she rested her cheek against the cool wood of the tabletop. Feeling her strength quickly ebb away, Ally's eyelids drooped slightly. She struggled to keep awake long enough to make it through the feast, but the pain, the fever, and the exhaustion were now simply overwhelming. Ally took a shuddering gasp of a breath and shfited her stiff arm against, trying to soothe it.

Remus mutedly watched his surroundings as he poked at his food with his fork. He wasn't really that hungry.. he was just still groggy from the train ride. He hadn't noticed Peter's where-a-bouts in a while, or maybe he just didn't notice him sitting at the table with the rest of them. But that wasn't unusual.

He did notice that it didn't take Sirius long to start flirting with a girl, matter-of-fact being that they weren't even in the castle yet. There was a small partical in the back of his brain that wished, sometimes, that he was like Sirius with all the girls fluttering about him. Or maybe like James.. even though he may not be the best when it comes to relationship material, what with being stuck on Lily and all.

In deep thought, he barely even realized that Lily had been staring down at them, merely glaring at James as usual. He smiled at her in a polite way as in hoping she might glance away and talk to some of her friends as to not start something with James again.

It should be interesting, the looks on their faces are adorable, they all look so scared!" She said towards both Sloane and Lily. Noticing Lily's fake smile, she wisphered. "Lils, are you okay?"

Sirius pretended not to notice the quick change in Ally's colour, though his satisfied smile was enough to tell tales to anyone. "You alright?" Sirius asked her nonetheless, noticing she wasn't exactly in the mood for anything.

While waiting for her reply, he continued feasting on anything that caught his fancy, and was soon bursting with all the food. The sensation of being there, back at Hogwarts, and with a full stomach was enough to satisfy him for the moment. He sighed contentedly and moved his glance over to Remus, who seemed a little less blissful.

"What're you thinking of, eh?" he elbowed him playfully, stifling a yawn with the palm of his hand. He was already getting sleepy, and the Headmaster hadn't even made his speech yet. That was a first.

"Oh, you know.. the homework for this year, the full moon.. etc. etc. Nothing exciting of course Padfoot." A remark that would emit to his almost jealousy of his dull life as a nerd in school.

Although he wasn't really complaining. Sometimes the quiet life was much more enthusiastic than one of mischieveous rompings.

The Headmaster rose and the Great Hall was instantly silent. The ancient sorting hat was brought down and placed on the stool, one by one the first years were called through, some being sorted instantly others taking more time for the hat to decide. Within twenty minutes the sorting was over and Lily looked around at the ten or so new Gryyfindor first years.
(OOC: if you think about it, we only know of 5 gryffindor boys in harrys year, so im assuming about 5 more girls? I dunno the books never actually say)
The hall buzzed with excitement but as soon as Dumbledore(he was the headmaster I belive....) stood the hall was again silent.
"Welcome everyone to another wonderful and exciting year at Hogwarts. The amount of wisdom and knowlegde to be gained this year is endless. The caretaker.....(?) would have me remind you that a complete list of banned objects from Zonkos, any joke store affiliated with them, or perhaps a joke store we are not aware of, can be located in your common rooms. I hope the feast was enjoyable for you all, and now that we are all busrsting at the seams, it is time to head to bed! Off you trot!" he said, smiling from under his half mood spectacles, his long white beard tucked into his belt.

Lily could not help but smile as Dumbledore stood and welcomed them all. He was by far one of her favourite teachers, his and Professor Slughorn of course. At the thought of NEWT potions her stomache flip flopped. She only hopped that she could keep up, NEWT classes were supposed to be much harder. She knew that she would be continuing on in Transfiguration, Potions, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Charms and Herbology, all the classes needed to become an auror. She also knew that Remus, James and Sirius had made it on as well as several of the girls. Poor old Peter had not of course passed much of anything with any outstanding grades. She quickly stood up, saying quickly to Louisa that she was fine and headed off to lead the first years to the Gryffindor common room.
OOC: i would assume that the 3 marauders would continue on in the classes to become an auror?

Peter sat quietly at the table, across from Lily, not saying much of anything but listening intently to the conversations that surrounded him.

Either way, Sirius was never really good at sorting out people's moods or delve too deep into their thoughts. He was too young, too impatient, and too self-absorbed for that to happen. Yet he did care for his friends, a great deal, there was no doubt about it.

"Well, missy, it's time for you to visit the nurse. Come on, let's go," he prodded her to get up, ready to support her if she needed it. "You lot coming?" he turned towards the rest of them, finally noticing Peter was among them again. James, however, was conspicuously absent.

James walked into the Great Hall a little late. He had sneaked away to get some party preperations done. This was going to be their last year at Hogwarts. They couldn't start the year without a party, could they? Nope.

As he walked up to the others, he noticed Sirius had already gotten up. "Where are you going?" He asked him, a little confused.

Sloane gave Louisa a puzzled look and found it hard not to laugh. She had really been out of it, and it was quite amusing. "Oh, I just asked how your train ride went."

Hearing the word adorable leave her friends lips, Sloane wasn't quite sure what she was referring to. "Uh, adorable? Are we talking about the same thing?" she asked rhetorically. James and Sirius were far from adorable. Puppies were adorable, James and Sirius were...well she wasn't exactly sure what they classified as.

Ally heard Sirius's voice echo somewhere above her. Her head made its way through the fog, to return to what was going on in the Great Hall. She realized that the Headmaster has already given his speech.
"Yeah," she muttered weakly forcing herself up and wincing in pain. She overbalanced instantly and fell back into Sirius's arms. "Sorry," she breathed, trying to steady herself.

Lily quickly headed to the front of the Great Hall so that the first years could see her. The hall erupted in chatter, scraping benches as people stood up and excited hoots and hollers.
"Gryffindor first years follow me please!" she called, over the voices of the other houses' prefects.
Once she had all her little first years lined up, she turned and headed towards the Gryfindor tower, being sure to inform the students of the changing staircases, trick stairs, helpful landmarks for finding there way and of course to be on the look out for Peeves. Luckily for them, they arrived at the portrait of the Fat Lady reasonably quickly and without incident.
"Now, upon entering the common room you must give the password, the password right now is bubotuber. So be sure to remember that." she said, turning and giving the password again, and then leading the first years into the common room.
"First year dorms are located on the first floors, boys up to the left, girls up the stairs to the right." she said, pointing them in the right direction. "Your belongings will have already arrived."
Once all the first years were settled and unpacked, Lily turned and sat down on one of the comfy chairs by the fire, feeling quite tired after the long day.

After over eating at the Great Hall, Sloane excused herself and decided to head back to the common room. She had been a bit out of sorts since the train ride to school, so she hoped that a bit of relaxation in the common room would do her some good.

Upon entering she noticed Lily sitting near the fire. Sloane couldn’t help but notice that Lily too seemed a bit tired. The long trip had surly taken its toll on everyone.

“Hey Lil’s mind if I join you?” asked Sloane as she ran her hands gently over the armrest of the sofa.

Giving Lily a smile, Sloane sat down not far from her friend and stared into the fire.

Hearing Lil’s inquiry, Sloane tore her gaze from the burning embers, “Oh it was fine. I mostly traveled with my sisters and my mother. It was all wonderful until about the third month. After that my mother’s nagging was unbearable.” She rolled her eyes at the thought, and couldn’t be happier that the summer holidays were done with.

“How about you? Did you have a good summer?” she asked as she reached for a sofa pillow and placed it in her lap.

Remus went to swat at Sirius's hand, but blatantly missed, due to his slow reactions. He combed back his hair to back to its normal style and just shook his head at Sirius's impromtu behavior. Sirius knew that irked him. But he would always forgive him in the end. He wouldn't let it get to him when he did it, and knew that it was more of a .. well.. friend-like gesture.

As Lily called for the First Years to follow, Remus knew it was time to stand and follow the rest. And when he made it back to the Common Room, he sat down in his favorite chair beside the fire and the others and opened a book to read before going to bed for the night.

Sirius' eyes lit up at the sight of his best mate. Obviously he hadn't been worried, James Potter was more than apt to look for himself, but still Sirius was curious. "Hospital wing, mate. "It's ok, I'm used to it," Sirius joked when she excused herself. Supporting her as they walked, he hoped the nurse would be in the hospital wing already; otherwise, he didn't know what to do exactly. Healing Charms had never been his forte. Looking back, trusting James was coming along, he approached the hospital wing, not too quickly, so that it wouldn't be a nuisance to Ally.

"Oh the usual, travelling with my parents and sister that despises me." she said closing her eyes and leaning back against the couch as if the memory pained her.
"I wonder where everyone is." she said, the common room was still rather quiet. She figured no one had come up from the feast yet.

Sloane gave Lily a faint smile and could sympathize with her. She didn't always get along with her own siblings but she knew that Lily's situation was much worse.

“Ugh, well seems your summer wasn’t any better than mine.” Letting out a small laugh Sloane shook her head in disbelief at the thought. “I’m actually glad that school is in…its good to be away from home.” The independence that Sloane had at school was great; she didn’t like being home too much and did anything to keep away.

Looking around the Common Room at Lily’s inquiry, Sloane wasn’t sure where anyone was. “I suppose they are still eating? Or perhaps they are on their way up.”

Remus heard Sloanes and Lilys conversation, but thought it for the better to not interupt. It seemed they hadn't noticed him there, and he was sure the last remark made was proof of it.

He simply turned a page in his book and quietly continued to read.

Lily looked up and saw Remus was also in the common room.
"Hey Remus, when did you get in here? Wow I must be out of it." she said shaking her head.
"Come over and sit with us." she said smiling.

Remus's head tilted up at the sound of his name and he looked over towards Lily. "I'm alright." He said with a smile back to her. "Just minding my own business, waiting on the others." Adding as he marked the page of his book and shut it.

Instead of actually moving, Remus turned his chair to face the girls. "How was your summer?" He asked polietly, knowingly not well with starting conversations.
