Draco had been hoping that he would instantly fall asleep, but his mind was too busy as he laid there facing the top of his canopy. Cathy sighed. "Alright, here it goes," she said, trying to find the best way of phrasing what she wanted to ask. "Do you still want to keep that mental link, or should we get rid of it?" she asked Jacey quietly. She had noticed that they hadn't used it since Jacey began to fall for Draco and wondered if there was any point to having it. |
Jacey shrugged, "Well, we could keep it, if you want, but you might catch me thinking of Draco quite a lot." she admitted, her cheeks growing red. "You decide, but it might be easier to get rid of it." |
Cathy nodded. "But it might still be good to have in emergencies," she reasoned, with a sigh. "I don't know, I really like having it...and it would be fun during classes," she said with a grin. "Which we probably have to go to tomorrow!" she said with a laugh. |
Jacey laughed, "Right, well is there a way that we can open it when we need it, but close it when we don't?" she asked. thinking hard and trying to remember anything that could help them |
Cathy nodded. "We could just do a reduced version of the spell," she suggested. "It would allow us to communicate but it wouldn't be able to be open all the time...but the only problem is that the spell breaks easily. If there is any sort of friction between the two of us, the spell will break," she said, hoping that there wouldn't be a problem. "What do you think?" she asked. |
"I guess that is the best way to go then." Jacey said with a shrug, "Do you know the spell?" |
Cathy smiled. "Yes, just wait one second," she said as she pulled her wand. She murmered the spell under her breath and tapped both of their heads with her wand. She looked at Jacey. "How do you feel?" she asked, looking at her. |
"um, tired?" Jacey said with a laugh. "I think it is time for bed Cath." she added, holding back a yawn. "And I didn't even do my homework." |
Cathy felt herself yawn. "You're right...and don't worry about the homework. I think Hermione took care of it," she said with a wink. |
"Good. Remind me to get her somehting good for Christmas." Jacey said with a laugh, walking over to the stair case, "Come on let's go to bed." I'm skipping to the next morning Jacey woke the next morning with a deep cough and sore throat, quickly dressing she picked up her things and walked through the dorm silently, trying not to wake anyone else. She waited until she was in the half occupied common room before letting out her coughs. Tj opened his eyes and quickly shut them again, he didn't want to be awake yet. Harry rolled over and opened his eyes groggily, he sat up and ran his fingers through his hair and pulled his robes on. tossing a book at Ron he said, "Wake up yu lazy slug." |
Cathy laughed. She climbed into bed and was instantly asleep. She was woken by the first rays of sunlight hitting her eyes. She also heard a cough and blurry eyed, she sat up in bed. Quickly getting dressed, she tossed a pillow at Hermione in order to wake her up. She was heading down the Commone Room when she heard JAcey. "That doesn't sound good," she said groggily, looking down at her friend. Hermione was woken by a pillow in her face. "Cathy!" she yelled, but it was muffled by the pillow. After getting dressed, she walked down into the Common Room. "Morning...what doesn't sound good?" she asked after a yawn. Draco yawned as he sat up in bed. Memories from the previous night filled his mind and he sighed. Quietly, he got out of bed and hurried to get ready. |
Jacey turned around and smiled at Cathy, "I don't know what you are talking about." she said with a smile, pulling her bag back up her shoulder, "So, are we ready or should we wait for the boys?" she asked.. Harry was already dressed and had his things, he bent over Ron sleeping form and poked him. "You are going to be late if you don't get your butt out of bed." he warned. Ron shook his head and mumbled something incoherriantly. "Go away Harry, or i wil curse you!" he said, holding up his fist. Harry shook his head as he walked down the stairs into the common room, "Ron's still asleep." he said in a way of greeting. |
Cathy grinned. "Hermione and I will take care of it," she said, grabbing Hermione and running upstairs. Hermione shrugged but was then pulled by Cathy. "What are you doing?" she asked as Cathy pulled her. "Shh, going to wake up Ron," she said, as she opened up the door. Ron's sleeping form was on his bed. "Ready?" she asked Hermione. "I thought we grew out of this last year!" she whispered, raising her wand. Cathy grinned. "Never...go!" she said, and water shot out of both their wands, soaking Ron. Then, they both ran out of the dorm and downstairs. "I say we go now," she said, gathering her stuff. |
Ron yelled as he was drenched with freeaing water, jumping out of bed, he used his wand to dry his clothes and change quickly, walking into the common room, he shook his head, "I will get you two for that!" he said. JAcey laughed as she walked out into the hall, she was so anxious to see Draco that she tripped over her own feet, "Are you four *cough* coming or what? *cough*" Tj dressed quickly and walked into the common room, he had ro talk to Pansy before class. Harry grazed Cathy's hand slightly, wanting to take it, but he knew that he couldn't so instead he smiled at her. |
Cathy looked at Hermione. "I think it is about the time that we run," she said with a grin. Hermione nodded. "I quite agree," she said, and they both ran out into the hall. Cathy's smile lessened as she heard JAcey. "That's it, I'm taking you up to the the Hospital Wing," she said, feeling Harry's hand brush her's. She smiled at him and quickly winked, before dragging JAcey off. When they were out of earshot of the rest of the group, she turned to Jacey. "You need to see her before this gets worse...and don't worry, I'll tell Draco to visit you," she said, holding fast to Jacey's arm. "Now no buts about it, off you go," she said, knowing that she sounded a lot like her mother. They would laugh at it later. Draco saw TJ come down and quickly finished gathering his stuff to leave. Then, without a word or second glance, he headed out toward the Great Hall. |
Jacey shook her head, "I don't want to! *cough cough*" she said as she tried to pull away from cathy's grip. "I am supposed to meet Draco!!" Harry smiled at Cathy as she pulled JAcey away and sat down with a laugh, he knew that she was a tough girl, she never did anything she didnt want Ron sighed and yawned loudly as he sat at the table, "Im so hungry!" he said grabbing some bacon. |
Cathy grinned. "I don't care if you want to or not, you're going!" she said, pulling her along. "Don't make me cast a spell," she warned, looking at Jacey. "If its nothing, I'll apologize to Draco for you being late. Iff its serious, I will tell him where you are and to meet you up here," she said. "Now, will you stop struggling!" she said, trying to hide a smile. Hermione laughed. "I'm glad he's over the wake up call," she said quietly to Harry. "Maybe he'll even forget about it since he's so hungry!" she added, giggling. |
"Don't count on it!" Ron said with a full mouth, dropping bacon and eggs onto his plate. "I'm still going to get you for that." Tj walked into the Great Hall and sat down at the table, waiting for Pansy to show up. Harry laughed and looked at Hermione, "I think that answers our question." he said to her. Looking up at the door of the Great Hall, hoping Cathy would come back soon. Jacey sighed, "I want to meet Draco!" she whined, pushing through the door of the hospital, she looked around, but didnt see Madame Pomfrey, "She's not here, let's go!" |
Hermione winced. "Oh well, it was too much to hope, I guess," she said with a grin. "Unless..." she glanced down at her wand. "No, that would be cruel," she said with a grin. Pansy walked into the Great Hall and took a seat across from TJ. "No Griffies today?" she asked stiffly as she put some food on her plate. Cathy pressured Jacey to sit on a cot. "Sit down, Jacey, you remember our deal," she said, crossing her arms. "You'll be fine, and besides, do you want ot have a coughing fit right in the middle of snogging Draco?" she asked raising an eyebrow. |
Harry laughed, "What do you have in mind?" Tj shook his head, "Haven't seen either of them yet, theyre probably off snogging somewhere." Jacey pouted, "I hate hospitals. You know that." she said crossly. At the mention of Draco she stood up, "maybe I shoukd just go tell him." she said, trying to slip past Cathy. |
Hermione grinned. "I was thinking a memory altering charm...but I think that could be bad...or, we could just say that he dreamed the entire thing," she said quietly, the plan forming in her mind. Pansy sniffed in disgust. "And why are you here so early?" she asked him, narrowing her eyes suspiciously. Cathy grabbed Jacey's arm. "Yes I do, but Madame Pomfrey is nice! Remember when she fixed my broken arm?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "Don't you dare...do you want me to send my Patronus?" she asked, looking at JAcey. Madame Pomfrey was straightening the supply closet when she heard two girls' voices. She hurried in and smiled when she saw Cathy and Jacey. "Good morning girls, to what do I owe this early pleasure?" she asked, looking at them both. "Madame Pomfrey, Jacey's been coughing this morning, and I was worried about her," Cathy explained, smiling. Madame Pomfrey nodded and got right to work. Checking over Jacey, she tutted here and there, but then sighed as she stepped back. "Jacey dear, you've been overworking yourself, and the school year hardly begun!" she said with a sigh. "You have early signs of the flu, but what you really need is a day of rest!" she said, walking back to her supply cupboard. |
Harry shook his head, "Best not to chance it Hermione, I will talk to him, don't worry the most you will get is a good snog." he said with a laugh. "Davidson told Draco about our little fight in first year and he went bonkers, now he is ticked off somewhere. It figures he would believe her and not me." Tj said. JAcey looked up at Madame Pomfrey "What does that mean?" she asked with wide eyes, "You mean I will just have to take it easy in classes?" she asked hopefully. |
Hermione glared at Harry. "I swear! Is that all you boys think about?" she asked, looking at both Harry and Ron. "Snog here, snog there, how many girls have you snogged tonight?" she mimicked. Pansy scowled. "Thanks for bringing up those wonderful times," she said with a sniff. "Are you kidding, of course that's what he's going to do!" she said, shaking her head. "Honestly, you boys don't know half of how relationships work..." she muttered. Madame Pomfrey shook her head. "I'm confining you to the Hospital wing for the rest of the day until I feel as though you're feeling better," she said, looking down at Jacey kindly. "Here, drink this," she said, not waiting for Jacey to protest, but just put the spoonful of potion in her mouth. Cathy sighed. "How are you feeling now, Jace?" she asked, looking at her friend, glad that it was nothing serious. |
Harry blushed, "No! That is not all we think about!" he said quickly "Yeah." Ron added, "We also think about food. Are you going to finish your bacon Harry?" he asked. "No mate you can have it ." Harry answered. "Thanks" ROn said with a smile. Tj shrugged, "What is that supposed to mean?" he asked. Jacey gagged and put her hand over her mouth, "Like I am going to throw up!" she said, but started coughing again, "Uh, can't I just go to class?" she asked Madame Pomfrey hopefully |
Hermione threw her hands up in the air in frustration. "Boys!" she exclaimed, playing with her oatmeal with her spoon. "Anything else besides snogging and food?" she asked, wondering what else they would come up with. Pansy shook her head. "Draco would do anything to get on Jacey's good side right now...he's positively smitten with her," she said, holding up her fork. "She's been forced into this, so who knows how she's feeling," she said, shaking her head as she gathered more food. "Does that make any sense?" she asked him. Madame Pomfrey shook her head. "Bed, now," she said, pointing to the cot that Jacey was sitting on. Cathy hid a smile as she watched Jacey. "It won't be so bad, Jace," she said, tapping her head, indicating that they could use their mental connection. "And we'll visit you often...and don't worry, I'll find him," she said, smiling. "Do you want me to stay for a bit, or are you tired?" she asked, looking at Jacey. |
