Hello Emily, Abi. I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up with the comments. These past few months have been pretty hard on me. I am keeping up with the story and I think you two are doing great. I can't pick out highlights from the last three posts I haven't commented on, but I will say, I think Emily and Abi both need to be turned over someones knees and throughly spanked for disrespecting Sirious the way they did, for running away, and for treating each other the way they are. Teasing of course. They would be black and blue and wouldn't be able to sit down for a week. They do have a lot of issues to work out, and sooner rather than later. I am most worried about: I feel so bad for Remus. What a hurtful brushoff, and seal of sarcasm! He really shouldn't let her get away with that. But, on the other hand, I loved this: I think it's brilliant the way you girls are able to write the story so well. You are both doing an outstanding job. I'll be watching for your next post.

Emily turned, her hair swinging over her shoulders. Draco glanced at her as she huffed in anger. Jamie was watching Alicia. Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny swapped looks.

"My vision's coming true" Emily turned back round, slipping on the wet grass. Draco caught her. "It's happening right now... Voldemort's making plans- and they're involving me..."

"No- Harry would have-" Jamie started, shaking his head. Alicia put a trembling finger to his lips.

"He's blocking Harry out... Somethings terrible is going to happen- it'll start with a fight... A big one" Alicia stared towards the sky as everyone watched her. "The stars... I read about it in them... That's why I came to Firenze, I needed to be sure on what I was seeing..." She raised a shaking hand and pulled the quill out of her hair as it turned light blue. "I've known my fate all along..." She jabbed the quill into her finger so that a drop of blood fell onto the snow. "Bloodshed will start the war, bloodshed will finish it" She whispered.

"Alicia, I don't understand" Jamie said, taking her bleeding finger and healing it with his wand.

"You should... Voldemort came back last june... No one's heard about anything strange going on... I know what's happening behind the scenes- he's waiting, waiting, biding his time... Once his plan gets put into action, there will be bloodshed- people will die... I've always looked at having two choices- Firenze gave me the third option I didn't want to see... Becoming a Death Eater and helping kill innoccent people, help hunt down and kill Harry..." She looked down at Jamie's hand which was still holding hers. "Death- the only way of escaping Voldemort- protecting my family..." Emily's hand lay on top of Jamie's.

"What option did Firenze give you- as he knew we wouldn't allow either of them..." She asked quietly. Alicia's hair darkened suddenly, so did her bracelet- both turned black.

"Fight... For the right to live or for revenge or anything. Fight against Voldemort" She said as she looked round at them all. "That's what I'm going to do- I'm going to fight. If I have to lead our side into it, so be it. Voldemort will not hurt my family" Her hands tightened rounf Jamie's and Emily's hands, "Even if that means I have to fight alone"

"No you won't" Jamie said, returning the pressure on her fingers. "I may not be a mind reader but I know that we'll stick by you- you will not be alone"

"We're family- we stick together through anything" Emily said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Family" Harry said, adding his hands to theirs. Ginny, Ron and Hermione followed his lead.

"Family" Draco said quietly, adding his hand too. Emily smiled and rested her hand on his shoulder.

"Family..." Alicia repeated, a tiny smile on her face. "You know, I'm glad I finally told you about it... I won't have to lie anymore- which reminds me," She looked over at Draco as they walked up to the castle. "You're not going to like this..."

Fight fight fight

“Are you upset?” Emily whispered into Draco’s neck. They were in their Dungeon, snuggled up. Alicia had told them that Blaise was basically taking over for Draco. He was a part of the Inquisitorial Squad and working with his father again. It wasn’t a pleasant conversation.

“Upset about what?” Draco replied impassively.

“About him taking your place… I mean he’s doing what you’re supposed to be doing,” Emily said in a small voice, exasperation in her tone. She felt like she tore him away from everything—his family, his friends, his life.

“No, Emily, and I know what you’re thinking. My life is nothing without you and I’m not giving you up for that stupidity. The only thing I’m upset about is that Blaise is actually going along with it; I thought he was smarter than that. And I’m upset that you’re still unhappy.”

Emily sighed into his skin, but didn’t say anything. She wasn’t going to deny that she was still upset about everything, so she stayed quiet. He kissed her hair softly, rubbing her back.

“Maybe you should owl him…” Draco suggested warily.

Emily tensed immediately, trying to remind herself that she was upset with Sirius, not Draco. “I don’t think so,” Emily said quietly.

“Ems, I just don’t want you to regret this later on—” he began.

“I said no, Draco. Just drop it,” Emily said shortly. Draco sighed deeply as he stroked Emily’s hair some more. He kissed her cheek and went for her lips, but she turned her head and he caught her ear instead. Her lips were pressed into a tight line and her eyes were focused on the wall opposite them.

“Ems, I just worry about you… I only want your happiness,” he whispered against her ear. She shivered involuntarily as she bit her bottom lip.

“Haven’t you heard? You don’t always get what you want,” she whispered as her hands threaded together in her lap, fidgeting.

Draco was quiet for a minute, too quiet for her liking. She thought about leaving but couldn’t bring herself to leave his warm embrace.

“Emily James Remus Amelia Sirius Black,” he said carefully as his hands enclosed around hers. “I love you more than anything and I will do whatever I have to in order to make you happy again,” he whispered. Emily’s cheeks felt wet as she turned her head into his shoulder, her tears seeping through his sweater.

“It won’t happen until I know that Alicia’s safe, that we’re all safe,” she whispered, choking back a sob.

“Ems,” he whispered as he tightened his arms around her. She shook her head, squirming away from him. He dropped his hold on her immediately, a frown forming on his face. She stood up quickly, grabbing her wand and he followed suit.

“Where are you going?” he asked quietly.

“Common Room,” she said shortly.

“Why?” Draco asked, his tone hurt.

“I’m supposed to meet Jamie and Alicia there…” Emily said quietly as she headed for the door.

“Why are you pushing me away?” Draco said, so low that he didn’t know if she heard him. But she replied all the same.

“I’ll see you tomorrow at breakfast,” she said quietly, her hand on the door already. She pushed it open, nearly running back to Gryffindor Tower.

“Hey,” Emily said quietly as she sat beside Alicia on the couch. Jamie was at their feet, his homework from Umbridge in his lap. Emily smirked slightly, glad she finished it over the break.

“You never did answer Draco’s question…” Alicia murmured, peering over Jamie’s shoulder to make sure he got the right answers.

“Stop spying on me,” Emily scowled.

“No thanks,” Alicia grinned.

“It wasn’t a question. It was a demand, Ali,” Emily muttered. Alicia laughed.

“But really… Why are you pushing him away?” Alicia said seriously.

“You’re pushing Draco away?” Jamie asked as he turned to look at her. He raised his eyebrows questioningly and she scowled at him too.

“Don’t worry about it… It’s nothing.” Emily flicked her hair over her shoulder and sighed.

“Where’s Harry?” Emily asked suddenly, looking around and changing the subject.

“On his way back with Ron and Hermione,” Alicia murmured, her eyes suddenly focusing on something far away. Emily watched her curiously as Jamie turned back around to do his homework.

Fred and George were causing quite a bit of ruckus with their new Headless Hats. Emily rolled her eyes at their stupidity. What was the point in making your head disappear with a hat?

Harry walked through the Portrait Hole, Hermione and Ron right beside him. Emily glanced at him as Alicia's eyes turned pink. Hermione started questioning the Headless Hats before Harry muttered something.

He started shoving his things in his bag while Hermione told him to use his homework planner.

“I think I’ll go to bed,” Harry muttered after stuffing his planner in his bag too.

Alicia snorted suddenly, her eyes back to normal. Harry locked eyes with her, grinning fleetingly at her. After Harry ascended the stairs, Alicia turned to Ron and Jamie.

“You need to go check on him. Now,” she said in a rush, basically pushing them up the stairs.

“What happened?” Emily said in a low voice so nobody else could hear.

“Voldemort’s happy… There’s—er—been a break out,” Alicia whispered. Emily gulped, looking down at her hands, which were now shaking.

“A break out?” Emily whispered as Alicia practically dragged her up the stairs to their room. “From where?”

“Azkaban.”

Hello girls. My goodness! I was reading along and all the sudden there wasn't anymore to read! Please fix it so there's more to read. Tremendous writing girls! I'm so glad Alicia told the gang what she has been hiding from them. And I hope Emily listens to Draco, and sends an owl. Later may not always be an option. I'll be watching for the next post.

The next morning, Hermione received the Prophet and confirmed what Alicia had seen. Ten Death Eaters had escaped Azkaban. Draco stared at the picture of his aunt with dislike.

“What do we do?” Emily whispered, her eyes on the jeering photo of Antonin Dolohov.

“We continue to wait... He’ll make his move soon and then we’ll react” Alicia said, flipping the paper over so that she didn’t have to look at it. “Oh, and page seven holds a small piece about a Ministry employee dying... His name is Broderick Bode, he was the one in Lockhart’s ward- strangled by Devil’s Snare...” She added, glancing at Harry as he opened his mouth.

“He worked in the Department of Mysteries... He was an Unspeakable!” Ron said quickly and Hermione jumped to her feet.

“Where are you going?” Jamie asked as she rolled up the paper.

“She’s sending a letter...” Alicia muttered, staring off into nothing.

The next few days found everyone talking about the escaped Death Eaters or Hagrid being on probation. Alicia announced that people were starting to question the Prophet’s version of events. Neville was becoming much better in DA meetings, which Draco was now joining in with. The fourteenth of February rolled through and the Hogsmeade trip arrived.

“Listen, Harry, this is really important” Hermione said, reading a letter she had just received. “Do you think you could meet me in the Three Broomsticks around midday?”

“Well... I dunno, Cho might want me to spend the whole day with her...” He said as Emily dropped onto the bench.

“What have you got Alicia for her birthday?” She asked, pulling out a neatly wrapped parcel.

“A dress... Well bring her along if you must... But will you come?” Hermione said urgently, turning back to Harry.

“Well, all right- but why?” He asked and she ignored him, hurrying out of the hall to reply to the letter. Alicia passed her with a frown on her face, wearing a ice blue sweater dress that Jamie had given her last night. She had the sapphire earrings Draco had given her for Christmas on too. She skipped up the tables, getting a few looks from some of the boys.

“Happy valentines day” She grinned, hugging Emily and putting small present in front of her.

“Happy birthday” Emily laughed, handing over her present, returning the smile.

“So, what have you all got planned today?” Alicia said, staring intently at Jamie as he sat opposite her.

“I’m meeting Cho and then Hermione said something about the Three Broomsticks at noon...” Harry muttered.

“Quidditch practice...” Ginny and Ron said, putting two more gifts on the table. “Happy birthday...” Ginny added, giving her a smile.

“Right... So, apart from you and Ron, can everyone else come to the Three Broomsticks? It is my birthday...” She added, looking at Jamie’s serene face again. “That’s it... What are you hiding?” She snapped suddenly, glaring at him.

Emily laughed as he pulled yet another present from his bag while Draco dropped into the seat next to her.

“Here, Alicia... Happy birthday” He said, passing over a small wrapped parcel. Alicia hugged him and began to shred the paper off everything in front of her.

Draco had given her a necklace to match her earrings, which Emily helped her put on. Harry had given her a selection of books by a Muggle author called Jane Austin. Hermione’s was another black dress with a white collar. Ron’s was sweets, as was Ginny’s. Jamie’s second present was a dark blue cloak with white fur edging the hood.

“Thank you guys!” Alicia said, smiling widely. After that, they walked towards the gates and towards the village, leaving one by one to go their separate ways.

“Jamie...” Alicia said quietly, swinging their hands as they walked down the high street. “What did you get me for valentines day?” He smiled and wrapped an arm round her shoulders.

“What do you want?” He said as they turned towards the pub.

“I don’t know... I got you a gold chain... It’s under your pillow” He laughed and tousled her scarlet curls.

“Well... It’s a good thing I got you a gold necklace then, isn’t it?” He said, grinning as he pulled the box out of his pocket. It was a fine gold chain with a heart shaped ruby pendant.

“Thank you” She said, stretching to kiss his cheek.

“Where do you want to go first, Ali?” Emily asked with a smile. “It is your birthday after all…”

“Hmmm, I could go for some ice cream?” she said, making it into a question. Draco and Emily shrugged as Jamie led the way, towing Alicia along.

As they got their ice creams, the foursome sat down at one of the round tables outside. Draco took Emily’s hand in his free hand as he took a bite of his chocolate cone. Jamie kissed Alicia’s cheek before taking a bite of his ice cream too.

“Thank God we didn’t go to Puddifoot’s. I don’t think I can take all those stupid cupids and what not,” Draco muttered as he stared over in the direction of the coffee shop.

“And exactly how did you know they’d have cupids in there?” Emily asked as her eyes turned to slits. Draco gulped as he looked at her sheepishly.

“Well… You know… When we…er…weren’t together… Pansy made us go there… And, er…” Draco spluttered. Alicia and Jamie laughed silently at their exchange. Emily’s bowl of mocha java chip ice cream sat on the table as she yanked her hand free and crossed them against her chest.

“Uh huh,” Emily muttered.

Draco glanced at Jamie and Alicia, his eyes begging for help. They just grinned at him. Draco grimaced at them as he scooted his chair closer to Emily’s. “Would it, er, be better if I gave you your Valentine’s gift?” Draco whispered, his hand going into his jacket pocket.

Emily turned to glare at him and his hand stopped immediately. “If you know what is good for you, Draco Malfoy, you had better not have gotten me a present! We made a deal!” she shouted at him, making stragglers glance at them.

“Well, I, er…” Draco stuttered. He fell back into his seat as he grabbed his ice cream sulkily.

“I was only kidding about the Pansy thing, but if you got me a present, you are in so much trouble,” she said quietly as she grabbed her ice cream and spooned the melting part in her mouth.

“Why did you two agree not to give presents anyway?” Jamie asked, trying to hold back his laugh.

“Because we don’t need anything else from each other,” Emily mumbled into her spoon. Draco leaned forward again, his ice cream already finished. He took her free hand softly in his and placed something cold in her palm.

“What is this?” she whispered as she put her ice cream back down and picked the small charm up with her other hand.

“It’s what I got you… And I know we said we didn’t need anything from each other, but I saw it and wanted to get it for you.” He sat back in his chair and watched her carefully as she surveyed the charms.

The silver slivers of three animals were hanging together—a wolf with an E engraved on it, a werewolf with an R, and a dog with an S.

“Thanks,” Emily whispered as she tucked it into her pocket and picked her ice cream back up. Draco’s face held the smallest frown as Emily just stared at her ice cream, her thoughts on the three little words she had whispered. After she composed her emotions, she looked up and smiled.

“So, what do you want to do for the rest of the day?” Emily asked brightly, her eyes on Alicia.

“We’re meeting up with the others at the Three Broomsticks in a little while,” she said with a shrug.

After Emily finished her bowl of ice cream, she stood up to throw it away, grabbing Draco’s dirtied napkins and the part of the cone he didn’t want to finish. Draco’s eyes hovered on her always, waiting for the chance that he could take her hand again and refuse to let her yank it away. She was still being distant and he didn’t know why. Alicia caught his eye and she pursed her lips, quickly looking at Jamie. Draco’s brow furrowed as Emily sat back down, surreptitiously scooting her chair away from Draco’s.

After a little while of small talk, the four friends walked over to the Three Broomsticks, Alicia and Jamie on the inside, Draco walking beside Jamie and Emily next to Alicia. Draco looked upset and Emily faked her happiness. She tried to avoid sitting next to Draco, but everyone seemed to know her thoughts and made sure that the only seat left was one beside him. With a grimace she sat beside him. Rita Skeeter, Luna, and Hermione sat across from them, Harry making his way over after Hermione called him.

Emily watched Rita carefully, ignoring the look Draco was giving her. He tried to grab her hand again, but she pulled it back impassively.

“Trouble in paradise?” Rita cackled as she looked between the two. She went to grab a quill from her hand bag, but Alicia “accidentally” kicked her from under the table and she stopped, glaring at Alicia now.

“You’re early!” Hermione beamed at Harry, breaking the tension that unfolded at the table. “I thought you were with Cho, I wasn’t expecting you for another hour at least!” Harry sat down beside her, glancing around at everyone, his eyes falling on Skeeter.

Moments passed as Rita tried to get dirt on Harry’s love life while Hermione threatened her. And then they got to the stories the Prophet’s been putting out about Harry.

“How has that made you feel, Harry? Betrayed? Distraught? Misunderstood?” Skeeter prodded.

“Angry, obviously,” Emily said coldly.

“Because he’s told the Minister of Magic the truth and the Minister’s too much of an idiot to believe him,” Hermione added in a hard voice.

Rita stared at Harry piercingly. “So, you stand by all this garbage Dumbledore’s been telling everybody about You-Know-Who returning and you being the sole witness—?”

“It isn’t garbage,” Emily muttered at the same time that Harry snarled,

“I wasn’t the sole witness. There were a dozen-odd Death Eaters there as well. Want their names?”

“I’d love them,” Rita said quietly as she fumbled for her quill. Skeeter started rambling about Harry accusing Death Eaters and him being a disturbed teenager.

“But of course, Little Miss Perfect wouldn’t want that story out there, would she?” Skeeter said bad moodily as she lowered her quill.

“As a matter of fact, that’s exactly what Little Miss Perfect does want,” Hermione said sweetly.

Everyone stared at Hermione, except for Luna, who was humming under her breath. “You want me to report what he says about He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?” Rita asked quietly.

“Yes, I do. The true story. All the facts,” Hermione answered.

Emily peeked at Draco, knowing that his father’s name was on this list. He looked impassively at his Butterbeer, the tiniest frown on his face. Emily unclenched her fist slightly, which didn’t go unnoticed by Draco. He must have been watching her from his peripheral vision, because he looked over at her, his hand already moving to take hers. And she let him. After pushing him away for days, it felt nice to have his hand wrapped around hers. She bit her bottom lip, her pocket with the charm suddenly feeling heavy against her thigh. He kissed the palm of her hand and she smiled slightly.

I’m sorry, she mouthed to him. He shook his head an infinite amount before he looked back over at Skeeter, Emily following his gaze.

“So the Daily Prophet exists to tell people what they want to hear, does it?” Hermione asked.

“The Prophet exists to sell itself, you silly girl,” Rita replied coldly.

“My dad thinks it’s an awful paper,” Luna piped up. “He publishes important stories that he thinks the public needs to know. He doesn’t care about making money.”

Emily’s lips went into a thin line, turning white at the pressure to not laugh. Draco looked at her questioningly, but she was in no state to really explain.

“I’m guessing your father runs some stupid little village newsletter? ‘Twenty-five Ways to Mingle with Muggles’ and the dates of the next Bring-and-Fly Sale?” Rita said.

“No, he’s the editor of The Quibbler,” Luna replied as she dropped her onion back into her gillywater.

Draco and Rita both snorted loudly. Emily nudged Draco in the side hard and he stopped immediately, his laughter turning into a grunt of pain. He turned to glare at her, but she was already glaring at him. He turned his attention back to his drink, not meeting her eyes, though he did still hold her hand, so she knew she was forgiven.

“‘Important stories he thinks the public needs to know’? I could manure my garden with the contents of that rag,” Rita replied.

“Well, this is your chance to raise the tone of it a bit, isn’t it?” Hermione said nicely. “Luna says her father’s quite happy to take Harry’s interview. That’s who’ll be publishing it.”

Emily stared at Hermione open-mouthed. She hadn’t seen that one coming, though it did all make sense now why Luna was even there.

“I’m sure people would take Harry seriously from that magazine,” Draco muttered under his breath. Alicia, who was on Draco’s other side, and Emily both elbowed him in the opposite sides and his eyes watered at the pain. He glared at them both as Alicia smiled acidly at him, Emily sheepishly.

“All right, let’s say for a moment I’ll do it. What kind of fee am I going to get?” Rita asked suddenly.

“I don’t think Daddy exactly pays people to write for the magazine. They do it because it’s an honor, and, of course, to see their names in print,” Luna said in a dreamlike state.

“I’m supposed to do this for free?” Rita snapped at Hermione.

“Well, yes,” Hermione replied calmly. “Otherwise, as you very well know, I will inform the authorities that you are an unregistered Animagus. Of course, the Prophet might give you rather a lot for an insider’s account of a life in Azkaban…”

“I don’t suppose I’ve got any choice, have I?” Rita asked angrily.

“Daddy will be pleased,” Luna said happily as Rita took out her Quick-Quotes Quill.

“Okay, Harry? Ready to tell the public the truth?” Hermione asked him.

“I suppose,” he replied.

“Fire away, then, Rita.”

Harry told Rita everything and she pressed him for every little detail. When the conversation got to the point where it was time to unmask the Death Eaters, Emily tightened her hand in Draco’s. He avoided her stare as Harry mentioned Lucius Malfoy and Emily frowned at his frown. She pulled him away from the table then, nodding once at Alicia.

“Come on,” she whispered as his arm wrapped around her shoulders.

“Where are we going?” he asked evenly, his face still looking upset from the day’s events.

“To properly thank you for my present,” she whispered as she breathed in his light cologne.

“Oh yeah? And how did you plan on doing that?” he asked as he kissed the top of her curls.

“Oh, you know…” she said, letting it hang there. They walked outside and Emily led the way to a stranded bench.

“How are you?” she whispered into his neck as they snuggled up on the wooden sofa.

“Better now that you’ve stopped pushing me away,” he whispered. She nuzzled his neck with her nose, giving him an Eskimo kiss.

“Sorry ‘bout that,” she whispered.

“Can I ask why?”

“Sure you can,” she breathed.

“Well?” he asked somewhat impatiently.

“You never asked,” she said sarcastically with a smile.

“Funny, real cute,” he said dryly. “Why did you?” he finally asked, his voice dropping to a whisper.

Emily stayed quiet for a long while and Draco doubted that she’d even answer him until she finally let go of the breath she had been holding. “Alicia’s vision…I just feel like if I get too close to you and then something happens, it will make everything worse,” Emily finally whispered as a tear leaked out of her eye.

Draco’s arms tensed around her and his brows furrowed. “Isn’t it more of a reason to become closer? Because we don’t know how much time we have together,” he finally said.

“I…don’t know,” she whispered. “I just don’t want to imagine life without you and…and…I don’t know. I was just scared.”

“Don’t be, I’ll protect you,” Draco whispered as he kissed her hair.

“That’s what I’m scared of though… You trying to protect me and getting yourself killed in the process. That’s why I’ve been pulling away. I thought that maybe if we broke up, then you wouldn’t risk your life for me,” Emily whispered.

“You were going to break up with me?” Draco said in a disbelieving tone as he lifted his head from hers to look at her.

“Only to protect you,” she said defensively as she stared at him, pleading for him to understand.

“It wouldn’t have mattered if you broke up with me, Emily, I still would have tried to protect you. I love you and nothing you say or do will ever change that.” Draco cupped her face in his hands and she grabbed his wrists. “I want you to listen to me, Ems,” he said imploringly. She nodded slightly. “I’m never going to leave you and I will jump in front of every curse for you even if you dumped me and started dating someone new. I’m yours completely and I don’t want it any other way.”

All she could think to say was “I love you, too.” He wiped the tears from her eyes as she leaned forward on his lap and kissed him. She pulled back slightly, her eyes still closed. “I could never fall for someone else when I’m completely yours too,” she whispered. He smiled widely but she couldn’t see. He pulled her closer and slowly consumed her again.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Draco whispered dreamily as they broke apart. She snuggled back into his side and he kissed her curls.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, Drake. I love you,” she whispered, her breath tickling his neck.
