Hello Emily. I hope I haven't been holding up the new post. Is she realyy upset with him, or is she just giving him a hard time? Ok. I'm glad she was teasing, but why would they make a vow not to get anything for each other? What a sweet gift! But, did he have it special made? It seems a unique thing to just have ready to sell. I wonder if he already had it made for her, and when they agreed not to get each other anything, he already had hers.

She was pulling away from him, so she thought that if they fought more, then it would be easier for her to break up with him... So, she was giving him a hard time, but at the same time, still trying to pull away from him... Sorry if it's confusing... =/
I guess they figured that they had enough already from each other... He's already given her a promise ring and they're technically living together... So why get something more for each other when they already have each other?
Haha, he did have it made, but I guess when he says when he "saw it", he just meant that he saw some the charms (separately) and decided it was the perfect gift for her...

yeah, I got it. I thought it was a teasing thing because she really shouldn't be jealous. And I did get the rest of what was said.

“I have tried every angle I can think of!” Alicia said angrily, throwing herself onto the bench beside Emily and Jamie. “And I still can’t find anything!” She glared at the coffee mug Jamie put in front of her. “Oh, and we’re having a DA meeting tonight before we break up for Easter”

“Cheer up... We’ve got Divination now” He said and Emily laughed as her hair turned jade green. Ever since Firenze had taken over from Trelawney, Alicia had spent most of her time in classroom eleven.

“I’m going to try fire observation again today, I think...” Alicia said to herself five minutes later, pushing open the door. The shock of leaving the castle corridor and entering a forest clearing had worn off now. Emily and Draco headed towards their normal spot, beside the window while Alicia walked towards the centaur.

“Yes, young one?” Firenze said, smiling at her. Alicia was the only one who could bring a smile to his face. “What is bothering you?”

“I can’t figure something out... I was thinking about a sage fire?” She made her comment a question and the centaur nodded.

“Do what you wish- you know everything already...” She grinned at him. “You are also not to go into the Forest any more” Her grin vanished.

“Bane hates you- not me” She said, frowning at him.

“You are my young one- you are now a traitor as well” He said calmly, watching Alicia’s frown turn into a glare.

“I am perfectly able to look after myself. Firenze” She said angrily. Emily walked over to help him calm her down. “Just because you’re my teacher now, doesn’t mean that you have to stop being my dad!”

“Alicia, he’s only trying to protect you from getting hurt!” Jamie said, appearing next to Emily as she lead Alicia away. He flicked his wand and a small pile of twigs ignited. “Come on... Get your future watching going...” Emily laughed at his words as Alicia dropped to the floor and threw sage into the flames.

“What are you trying to see?” Emily asked after ten minutes had passed, watching the flames. Alicia was staring avidly at the smoke rising in front of her.

“Shapes and symbols...” She answered unhelpfully.

“I can’t see anything...” Emily commented as Draco and Jamie followed Firenze’s directions. They were star gazing again.

“Emily, could you pass me the mallow- sweet, please” Emily passed over the small bundle and Alicia shredded half of it between her fingers.

“You know, I still can’t see any-” Emily started but Alicia cut her off.

“Wait!” Her finger was following something in the smoke only she could see. “This is wrong- it has to be... Firenze” Alicia called over her shoulder as Emily watched the fire dancing in her light blue eyes.

“What have you seen?” Firenze said, appearing instantly. His eyes followed her finger as it pointed to several different things.

“Is this wrong?” She asked, frowning as she put her hand in her bag. Emily watched them both carefully.

“I am not sure... Have you tried the petals yet?” In answer, Alicia held out her open hand. Emily saw several different coloured petals from a dozen different flowers. Firenze picked up a forget- me- not petal. The flames flickered red as they consumed it. The colour drained from Alicia’s face and her hair faded into a pale yellow.

“What is it?” Emily asked, staring from Alicia to Firenze. The centaur looked towards Alicia before answering Emily.

“I am afraid I have some bad news, Emily Black... About your father” Draco and Jamie sat up as Emily stared at the teacher.

Emily and Alicia didn’t turn up for the rest of their lessons, or for the final DA meeting that night, which ended in disaster.

When she was seven, Firenze 'adopted' Alicia into the Centaur herd to teach her how to star-gaze and things like that, hence why he says that she already knows everything...

Hello Abi. Great post Abi. Have to get right to the point here, cause I can't think of anything else. First of all, I figured that Firenze is somekind of custodian over Alicia, so does she spend her holidays with him? And second, If they're still having DA meetings then whatever Alicia sees about Sirius, then it is a future occurance right?

Emily stared blankly at the parchment in front of her. After Alicia and Firenze had told her of her father’s fate, Emily burst into tears, balling her eyes out until she finally calmed down enough to compose her thoughts. The last thing she had told him was that she hated him. She knew deep down that she honestly didn’t mean those three little words; she had just been upset about his immaturity. And now she didn’t know if she’d get the chance to apologize face to face before it happened, so she decided on a letter. A letter she had no idea how to start.

She glanced down at the floor of her dormitory; her side of the room was littered with crumbled up pieces of parchment. She tapped her quill on her desk several times before Alicia shot her a glare from the other side of the room. She too had been crying, her hair still a pale yellow.

“Ali?” Emily whispered as she put her quill down and made her way to Alicia’s bed. “There has to be a way to stop it from happening. I mean, not every vision has come true, has it?” Emily asked desperately as her tears started again.

Alicia frowned sadly at her for a moment before shaking her head. “There’s no stopping it,” she said a hoarse whisper. Emily let out a sob as she sunk down on Alicia’s bed. Alicia pulled Emily’s head in her lap and stroked her red curls softly as her own tears dropped into Emily’s hair.

“It’s not fair,” Emily mumbled.

“I know,” Alicia whispered soothingly as Hermione burst through the door, out of breath. Emily didn’t bother sitting up as Alicia asked the obvious.

“What happened?”

“Just—escaped—Umbridge—and—Blaise,” she said, gasping as she tried to slow her heart rate.

“Umbridge and Blaise?” Emily mumbled, her eyebrows knitting together in confusion.

“Wait, wasn’t the DA meeting tonight? They didn’t—” Alicia said in disbelief as Hermione nodded slowly.

“Did anyone get caught?” Emily asked in horror as she slowly sat up and wiped her eyes. Hermione nodded again and Emily gasped. “But who, Hermione? This isn’t the time to stay quiet! Spit it out!”

“Calm down, Ems… Harry got caught, but I’m sure Dumbledore will take care of everything,” she said as Alicia’s eyes turned pink.

“No!” Alicia shouted as her hand flew to her mouth.

“Not more,” Emily almost wined, but also said in horror.

“Dumbledore’s gone,” she whispered. “Umbridge is the Headmistress now.”

“What?” Emily and Hermione asked incredulously.

“He took the fall for the DA… They were going to take him to Azkaban but he fled,” Alicia explained. Emily stared at Alicia in horror as she thought about how Umbridge was now taking over. Alicia started toward the Common Room and Hermione and Emily followed in her wake.

They met the boys downstairs, Harry nowhere in sight. Alicia went to Jamie’s side immediately and hugged him while Emily hugged her shoulders. This was one of the moments she wished Draco was a Gryffindor. Emily snuggled into the couch beside Fred, who wrapped an arm around her shoulders. She smiled slightly before staring off into the fire, her eyes watching the dancing flames.

“You okay?” Fred asked quietly. Emily caught Alicia’s eye before nodding to Fred. They had decided to not tell anybody about Alicia’s vision of Sirius.


By the next morning, notices saying that Dolores Umbridge had replaced Albus Dumbledore as Head of Hogwarts were all over the school, though they were unnecessary since everyone seemed to already know about it.

Emily, Alicia, Draco, and Jamie followed the golden trio and Ernie Macmillan as they walked towards the Great Hall for lunch. Emily never talked much after Alicia’s vision, especially to the others. It was very rare that you wouldn’t catch her crying, Draco glancing at her sympathetically as she would cling to his waist. He hugged her shoulders once more as Blaise popped out from behind a door, closely followed by Crabbe and Goyle. Draco tensed immediately and Emily glanced at him nervously. She wasn’t sure how he did it; he had to share a room with these guys, who now hated him because he “betrayed” them and the Dark Lord.

“Now, do you really want to finish that sentence, Granger?” Blaise snarled, glancing at Emily and Draco.

“Afraid I’m going to have to dock a few points from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff,” he said lazily with a smirk. Draco edged forward, despite Emily’s silent protests. She knew he wouldn’t let the others be hurt from his ex-best friend. And she also knew that Blaise would have docked points from Draco too if they weren’t in the same house.

“It’s only teachers that can dock points, Zabini,” Ernie said at once.

“Yeah, and you’re not even a prefect,” Ron added. “What makes you think you can deduct points?”

“I know prefects can’t deduct points, Weasel King,” Zabini sneered as Crabbe and Goyle sniggered. “But members of the Inquisitorial Squad—”

“The what?” Alicia asked sharply.

“The Inquisitorial Squad, Daniels.” Zabini pointed to the small silver ‘I’ on his chest. “A select group of students who are supportive of the Ministry of Magic, hand-picked by Professor Umbridge. Anyway, members of the Inquisitorial Squad do have the power to dock points…” Blaise’s eyes glinted with happiness as he stared at them all, his eyes falling on Draco with a smirk. “So, Granger, I’ll have five from you for being rude to our new headmistress… Macmillan, five for contradicting me… Five each because I don’t like you, Potter and Starlight… Weasley, your shirt’s untucked, so I’ll have another five for that… Let’s see, Black, five from you because I shouldn’t be tortured to have to see such an ugly face.” Draco growled and Emily clung to him more tightly, trying to get him to fall back behind the others. “Oh yeah, I forgot, you’re Mudbloods, Granger and Daniels, so ten each for that…”

Ron and Draco both went for their wands, but Hermione and Emily pushed them away, whispering, “Don’t!”

“Wise move… New Head, new times. Be good now, Potty… Black… Malfoy…” Blaise laughed as he walked away, Crabbe and Goyle following after him.

As Ernie went on about how Blaise had to be bluffing, they turned toward the giant hourglasses that were set on the wall behind them. As they watched, more and more stones flew upward, except not from the Slytherin hourglass.

“Noticed, have you?” Fred’s voice piped in. He and his twin had just joined the small group in front of the hourglasses.

“Zabini just docked us about fifty points,” Harry said furiously as they watched more stones fly out of the Gryffindor hourglass.

“Yeah, Montague tried to do us during break,” George said.

“What do you mean, ‘tried’?” Jamie asked quickly as he looked at his older cousins expectantly.

“He never managed to get all the words out due to the fact that we forced him headfirst into that Vanishing Cabinet on the first floor,” Fred said with a smirk.

“But you’ll get into terrible trouble!” Hermione exclaimed in shock.

“Not until Montague reappears, and that could take weeks, I dunno where we sent him,” Fred said coldly. “Anyway, we’ve decided we don’t care about getting into trouble anymore.”

“Have you ever?” Alicia asked.

“’Course we have,” George said. “Never been expelled, have we?” Draco let out a small chuckle at the twins.

“We’ve always known where to draw the line,” Fred added.

“We might put a toe across it occasionally,” George continued.

“But we’ve always stopped short of causing real mayhem,” Fred finished.

“But now?” Ron asked apprehensively.

“Well, now—” George said.

“—what with Dumbledore gone—”

“—we reckon a bit of mayhem—”

“—is exactly what our dear new Head deserves,” Fred finished.

“You mustn’t!” Hermione whispered. “She’d love a reason to expel you!”

“You don’t get it, Hermione, do you? We don’t care about staying anymore. We’d walk out right now if we weren’t determined to do our bit for Dumbledore first.” Fred smiled and checked his watch. “So anyway, phase one is about to begin. I’d get in the Great Hall for lunch if I were you, that way the teachers will see you can’t have had anything to do with it.”

“Anything to do with what?” Hermione asked anxiously.

“You’ll see. Run along, now,” George said before he and his twin turned around and disappeared.

Emily, Alicia, Draco, and Jamie continued toward the Great Hall as Filch started talking to Harry.

“Come on, I don’t want to be anywhere near what the twins are planning,” Jamie said as he shook his head. They headed for the end of the Gryffindor table, Jamie and Alicia leading the way.

“Aren’t you hungry?” Draco whispered to Emily as she played with her food rather than eating it. “You hardly ate anything for breakfast.”

“No, I don’t have much of an appetite anymore,” she whispered.

You’re making yourself sick, Ems. You have to eat something, Alicia’s thoughts sounded in Emily’s head and she glanced over at her. She sounded sincere and worried, but Emily couldn’t seem to care at the present. She rarely cared about anything for the past day and a half.

I don’t care if I make myself sick when my Dad is about to die, Alicia, but just to please you… she thought sarcastically as she speared three green beans with her fork. She stuffed them into her mouth, chewed for a second, and then swallowed them hastily as she sent a glare toward Alicia. She pushed her plate toward the middle of the table and laid her head down against her arm. Draco rubbed soothing circles into her back as she released yet another set of tears.

“What does Umbridge want?” Jamie asked as he watched Draco soothe Emily.

“She’s questioning him... She’s put something in his drink- a truth serum, nasty, evil woman...” Alicia said immediately, glaring at the back of Emily’s head. “She wants to know where Dumbledore is... And-” She paused, her glare turning into a look of shock for a second. “And Sirius”

The effect was immediate. Emily’s sobs cut off and she sat bolt upright, staring at Alicia, pain and worry in her face. Draco shot Jamie a confused look and he shrugged his shoulders in response. Alicia opened her mouth to speak but a loud, echoing bang sounded throughout the castle. Hermione shrieked and grabbed Ron’s arm.

“What the- ” Ron said, wincing at Hermione’s grip.

“Second floor!” Alicia yelled and they sprinted from the Hall, several people behind them. People were running in every direction as what looked like a whole crate of enchanted fireworks filled the entire second floor. It was pandemonium. Dragons made from green and gold sparks were soaring overhead while breathing fire at anything that moved; Catherine wheels that were at least five feet wide were bouncing off walls; sparklers were writing swear words in mid air; firecrackers were exploding everywhere they looked and there was a large, smoking, evil- looking purple bat heading towards the open door behind Filch, Umbridge and Harry.

“Hurry, Filch, hurry!” Umbridge shrieked as several of the dragons followed the bat. “They’ll be all over the school unless we do something! Stupefy!” The rocket she had aimed at exploded. Draco had forced Emily and Alicia to duck just in time- both girls were crying with laughter at the two adults. Draco smiled at the emotion on Emily’s face. “Don’t Stun them, Filch!”

“Right you are, Headmistress!” Filch wheezed. Alicia was on all fours, banging the floor with her fist as the mop Filch was batting the fireworks with ignited.

“Come on! Harry- help me with her...” Jamie said as Harry appeared beside them. They both grabbed one of Alicia’s arms and headed towards a hidden passage further down the corridor. Fred and George were inside, listening to the mayhem.

“They’re wonderful fireworks” Hermione said as she looked round at them. Alicia was gasping for air as she sat by Jamie’s feet.

“Thanks!” Fred and, slightly surprised.

“You’ll put Dr. Filibuster out of business, no problem” Harry said, laughing quietly as the sound of more fireworks escaping met their ears.

“Cheers” George said, wiping tears of laughter from his cheeks. “Oh, I hope she tries Vanishing them next...” Alicia grinned evilly before vanishing through the concealed door.

“Professor! Professor! Here- let me help!” They heard her shout. The incantation was lost as the sound of dozens of people running for cover flooded the corridor. There was another bang and Umbridge was shrieking in rage.

“They multiply by ten every time you try!” George finished, tears rolling down his face again as Alicia reappeared, the shoulder of her uniform smoking slightly.

The fireworks continued to take over the school for the rest of the day. Jamie had the suspicion that Alicia was helping them whenever she had the chance. Wherever they went, they saw Umbridge chasing after some sort of Weasleys’ Wildfire Wiz- bangs.

“Oh, why don’t we have a night off?” Hermione said as she sat round the table with the others in the common room. Emily was shut up in her dorm. Alicia swept all of Jamie’s books into his bag immediately.

“It is the Easter holidays on Friday... We can do it then” She said, glancing up at the ceiling. A rocket shot past the window, leaving a sparkling trail of gold and silver stars.

“First, are you feeling all right?” Jamie said, looking at Hermione.

“Now that you mention it- I feel a bit rebellious” She said happily.

“And second- what is wrong with you and Emily? I know you’ve seen something” Jamie said, grinning at Hermione before looking at Alicia, who was still staring up at the dorm above them.

“I haven’t seen anything... Not since Dumbledore left” She said quietly, turning to watch as Harry and Ron left for bed. “And there’s nothing wrong with us...”

“Alicia, I saw the look Emily threw you at dinner... Not to mention the fact that Emily isn’t eating and she bursts into tears all the time... And I’ve seen you when you’ve been crying as well...” He said quietly, leaning closer as Hermione bid them goodnight.

“Did Draco put you up to this?” Alicia snapped, looking at him as a sparkler floated past the window spelling the word ‘POO’.

“Sort of” Jamie said calmly as Alicia hair turned dark blue. “We’ve both noticed the differences in the two of you, Ali... We’re just worried”

“Don’t be... We’re fine” Alicia said, putting a hand on his face. “Really... I’m going to bed, night... Love you” She kissed him and hurried towards the stairs before he could ask anymore questions. The dorm was full when she opened the door- Emily’s curtains were closed. Sighing, she climbed into bed, thinking about the future and why she couldn’t change the things she wanted to.

As the sun streamed in through the dormitory window, Emily yawned and stretched. She landed back on her pillow lightly as she stared up at the ceiling. She had a major headache from not eating anything before and her cheeks were still stained from tears.

I told you that you needed to eat something, Alicia scolded in her head. Emily rolled her eyes. I saw that too.

Really, Ali, if you want to talk, you can come over here instead of barging through my head, Emily replied sarcastically.

“The boys know something’s up,” Alicia whispered as she slid through the closed hangings.

“Well they’d be stupid if they didn’t with all the crying we’ve been doing.” Emily sat up slowly and started picking at an invisible piece of lint on her sheets. Alicia put her hand over Emily’s and Emily hesitantly looked up.

“This isn’t your fault,” Alicia whispered. Emily looked back at the sheets quickly.

“You don’t know that,” Emily whispered back. Emily yanked her hand free and started to get dressed.

“Emily,” Alicia said carefully.

“I don’t want to hear it,” Emily interrupted. “Can we just not talk about it? I’ll see you at breakfast,” she said quickly as she grabbed her wand and made her way downstairs.

“Morning, Ems,” Jamie said semi brightly.

“Morning. Alicia should be down in a few; I’ll see you later,” Emily muttered as she made her way to the Great Hall, her thoughts going wild. How long was she really going to keep this up? The constant crying and blocking people out? She had to face the music, even if it was the music one hears in movies right before someone dies. The Jaws theme song came to her mind and she had to shake the memory and nightmares that had come after watching it with Remus when she was far too young for that movie. She was put in Gryffindor for a reason and it was time she started to show it. It was what Remus would do. What Sirius would do.

As she moved toward the door, she sighed upon seeing Draco. She knew he wasn’t going to be able to put up with this much more before bursting himself. He gave her a shy smile as she stopped a few feet away from him. Her eyes fell to the ground so she didn’t have to see his pity. And before she knew what was happening, his arms were around her and she was weeping into his jumper as they sunk to the floor. Alicia sat on her other side, Jamie beside her. Alicia took her hand and gave it a small squeeze before Emily finally calmed down.

“I’m f-f-fine,” she managed to say.

“Don’t even try to feed us that lie,” Draco murmured against her hair. She shook her head as she slowly stood. They followed after her and she lifted her chin confidently as she let her last tears fall.

“I am fine…now. Now that I’ve…accepted things,” she whispered as her eyes lock with Alicia.

And she was. She was fine. And when she had a meeting with McGonagall about her future career, even though Umbridge was watching it closely, she proudly told her that she wanted to be exactly like her father. Of course Umbridge had a fit about anything that brought up Sirius, but Emily took her detention with a satisfactory smile.

“Why do you look so cheerful?” Jamie asked skeptically as she rejoined them for lunch.

“No reason in particular,” Emily murmured as she piled some chicken onto her plate.

Alicia gasped suddenly and Jamie and Draco looked at her curiously as Emily smirked.

“You did not say that,” Alicia said quietly to Emily. The boys glanced at each other and then at Emily.

“So, what if I did?” she shrugged. “It would make him proud; like I’m officially a Marauder’s daughter.” Alicia just shook her head with a slow smile.

“Care to share with those that weren’t present and can’t read minds?” Jamie said impatiently.

“Oh, you know, I just told McGonagall that I plan on being exactly like my father… Exactly. Of course, Umbridge was watching the whole meeting and didn’t exactly like the implications. McGonagall had no idea what to say to me. So I just told her to give me the Auror pamphlet and we could be done. Umbridge wasn’t keen on letting me go, so she basically dragged me to her office and tried to make me spill everything I knew. Of course I refused to drink any of her tea and said nothing. So I finally just left her office. She’s not happy with me to say the least, but I don’t care. She did give me detention, but who knows, I might just forget about it…”

“She could have you arrested, Ems,” Draco whispered from her side.

“If she tries, I’ll pull a Dumbledore,” Emily whispered calmly. Draco tensed beside her so she turned and gave him a small smile and a peck on the cheek. “Calm down, love, everything’s fine.” Draco grimaced at her before taking a swig of his pumpkin juice. He was getting sick of hearing that word coming from her mouth. “I overheard the twins earlier,” Emily whispered so only the four of them could hear. “I hear we’re having quite a show this afternoon…”
