Emily lay in her bed as the breeze flew in through the window. She was upside down, her head hanging over the side of the bed. She stared out the open window, at the moonlight. Full moon was last night; I wonder how he is, Emily thought to herself with a sigh. She went into a reverie as she thought about the day’s events. Her hand subconsciously went to the pendent around her neck.

“I knew this thing wouldn’t work,” she muttered as she took it off her neck. She tossed it onto the sheets of her bed as she noticed an owl coming her way.

“Bluejeans?” Emily asked as the owl landed on her bed. She sat up and took the letter from his leg. She pet him for a minute before she turned her attention to her letter. Bluejeans flew over to her bedside table and started pecking at the drawer.

“Okay, okay, I get the hint,” she chuckled as she opened the drawer and pulled out some treats for him. He nibbled away as she unfolded the parchment.

She read through it twice before realizing what it said. She grabbed her quill and wrote a response on the back.

Jamie,
I don’t know if you really deserve an understanding, but I’ll give it to you. Meet me in the empty classroom down the corridor we met in earlier this morning.

She sighed before she attached it to Bluejeans’ leg and sent it off. She made her way downstairs, passing Alicia by the table and Hermione, Ron, and Harry by the fireplace. She paid them no attention and went out the Portrait hole and down the hall. It was only a few more minutes before Jamie joined her.

“Thanks for coming,” he said quietly as he shut the door. Emily just nodded. Jamie leaned up against the wall as Emily sat on top of one of the desks.

“Where would you like me to start?” she whispered.

“Maybe you should start at the beginning,” he said.

Emily let out a gust of air before nodding. She looked down at the dusty floor. “Well, we met, met in second year. It was when the whole Chamber thing was going on. I was worried about Alicia because she was a Muggle born and what not, remember? Well, I went for a run, you know, like I always do when I need to think or get away. It was extremely early in the morning, like four o’clock early. I collapsed by the lake only to find that Draco was already there, sitting under a tree. At first, we called each other names, we sneered, just like usual, but since neither of us wanted to leave our spot, we ended up talking. Before I knew what was happening, he was telling me everything about him.” Emily looked up and met Jamie’s eyes.

“He told me about his marriage contract to Pansy and the way his father expects him to act. He told me everything, Jamie, and before either of us could look back, we fell for each other. I told him everything about me, everything I knew at least. I fell for him and he caught me, Jamie.” Emily’s eyes became glossy as her tears started piling up. “I don’t know what to tell you. You know how when you looked at Alicia, you knew she was the one?” Jamie nodded. “That’s how it is with Draco. I know he’s been a right git to everyone and I know that what he did to Alicia was horrible, but it’s how I feel. It’s not like I can just snap my fingers and turn out of love. Put yourself in my shoes, Jamie. If the roles were all switched and Alicia attacked me, tried to break me and Malfoy up, and what not—You’d still love her, wouldn’t you?”

“Yeah, I would, but Alicia isn’t Malfoy. He’s done some unforgivable things, Emily. How can I just let that go?”

“Don’t you trust me? Before you knew about any of this, didn’t you trust my opinion?” Emily asked in a pleading manner.

“Yes, but—”

“No buts, Jamie. If you trusted me then, then you should be able to trust me now. It’s still me, just like I’ve always been; you just know one of my secrets now. Jamie, please,” Emily said. She pushed off from the desk and crossed the room to him.

“I—I…” Jamie looked at her pleading face. She was a sister to him. But Malfoy? Her eyes were large as he turned it over and over in his head. He loved Ali, and he couldn’t live without her. He used to trust Emily, but look at the choices she’s made. “I guess I still trust you,” he said quietly. Emily smiled swiftly at him before wrapping her arms around his middle.

“Thanks, Jamsie,” she said into his chest. He chuckled lightly as he hugged her back.

“I’m sorry for, you know, hitting you this morning… I just got so angry and it was a reflex really. I didn’t mean it,” he said quickly.

“It’s okay, I probably would have done the same,” she whispered.

“It’s not okay, E, I hit you. I should be expelled or something,” he said miserably.

“Since I’m the victim and it’s my decision, I say it’s okay,” she said as she leaned back to look at him. He gave her a small smile before it turned into a frown again.

“Emily, I really am sor—” he started again.

“If you finish that sentence, I’ll slap you,” Emily interrupted. Jamie chuckled lightly as she put her hand on her hip.

“Okay, squirt, let’s go,” he laughed.

“Who are you calling squirt, sissy?” she asked with her eyebrows raised.

Jamie opened the door of the classroom. As they walked down the hall, he stuck his tongue out at her and she returned it. They stopped short of the Portrait hole. The Fat Lady looked at them with an amused look.

“I’ve got your back,” Jamie said quietly.

Emily gulped, nodding. “Let’s get this over with.”

“Who’s the sissy now?” Jamie laughed as he told the Fat lady the password. The two of them walked in as Emily starting slapping Jamie in the gut.

Most of the people stared over at them, stopping what they were doing. Emily and Jamie quieted down as they noticed everyone staring. Emily gulped again as her eyes gazed over the room, falling on Alicia. Her book plopped down on the table with a thud as she looked from Emily to Jamie.

Emily shrugged her shoulders with a sigh as Jamie stared back. Alicia stood up slowly, coming closer. As she looked back at Jamie, she ran up to him and in his open arms. Emily smiled slightly as Jamie apologized and told her he loved her.

“Ems, I-I’m sorry,” Harry stuttered as he approached her. “Alicia’s right, you’re basically my little sister. I should trust your judgment. If you say he’s not that bad, maybe, only maybe, he’s not that bad. I’ll take your word for it,” he said quietly.

“Harry?” Emily asked. He looked at her as he waited for her to continue. “There’s one problem with what you said.”

“What?” he asked as he knitted his eyebrows together.

“I’m older than you, so, technically, I’m your big sister, not little,” Emily chuckled. Harry sighed in relief.

“Only technically. In other means, I’m totally older,” he joked.

“Whatever,” she said with the roll of her eyes. She stepped up to him and gave him a hug. “And I’m not basically your sister, Harry, I am your sister,” Emily whispered into his chest.

“I know. Forgive me for not acting like a great brother?”

“You’re forgiven. Just don’t do it again,” she said.

“Promise.”

Anyway, I like it that Jamie understands and he forgave Emily. Well, really there isn't much to be forgiven for is there? She dated someone and she loves him. Big deal. Love is a battleifeld

Harry and Emily are like brother and sister. Technically they are kinda cousins (not-blood-related) because their parents were best friends. You know you might call your mums best friends daughter your cousin. Nevermind, they are just like brother and sister in the way that they share the same lives except that Ems doesn't chase after Lord Voldie.

I'm such a blether.If you don't know what that means, it's like a kinda Scottish term for someone who talks too much

Hello Emily. Great job getting everyone back together again. The world is to uncertain for them to let these problems separate them. Great friendships need to be repaired quickly, before other things catch on the rip and make the tear worse. Loved Harry and Emily!

Alicia looked up as Emily passed her, not even looking at her. It reminded her of the choices she had given Jamie earlier. She returned to her book, not noticing Jamie walk past her.

Not long afterwards, a noise made her look up as the portrait hole opened and Jamie and Emily walked in together, laughing. The book fell through her fingers onto the table as she stood up. She could hear people talking quickly behind her as she walked towards them. Emily sighed and she ran at Jamie, hugging him tightly.

Alicia now sat between Emily and Jamie on the sofa, holding both their hands tightly. She was happy again. She turned to grin at Emily but frowned instead.

“Excuse me- where’s your necklace?” she said, raising an eyebrow.

“It wasn’t working so I took it off… You can have it back and maybe I can get a new necklace for my birthday?” Emily said, smiling slightly.

“I’ll think about it,” Alicia said, winking as she thought fast about how to make her friend happy again.

“Alicia- I can tell that you’re planning something,” Emily said as she looked into her friend’s face.

“Don’t look at me and then you wouldn’t know,” Alicia answered, hiding her face in her hands and peering through her fingers. Harry laughed as Emily stuck her tongue out.

“Seriously though… I am happy so I don’t need you to plan something,” she said and Alicia pulled a sad face. “The puppy dog eyes won’t work either.” Alicia frowned and slumped into the sofa. Jamie was trying very hard not to laugh.

“Right… Well… Yeah,” she said and everyone started laughing at her.

That night, Alicia took the necklace back off Emily and placed it in her side drawer. As she drew her curtains round her bed, Alicia thought about her planning again. If Emily started to become unhappy about Malfoy, she would talk to him- not face to face, she wouldn’t be able to handle that- through a letter.

At break the next day, Jamie sent a letter home asking his parents to find Emily a necklace. They sent back a fine gold chain with her name hanging from it and a small wolf hanging underneath that. He gave it to Alicia, who hid it in her bag. Lunch found Emily, George, Fred, Harry, Jamie, Alicia, Ron, and Hermione sitting at the end of the table.

“Oh yeah… I got something for you,” Jamie said casually as he took the bread roll off Emily, who frowned.

“Why?”

“To say sorry for how I’ve been acting lately- Alicia’s hiding it for me,” he said and Emily looked at Alicia, who grinned, put her hand in her bag, and pulled out the envelope.

Hello, it's great to see everyone getting along again. Jamie's necklace is very thoughtful. And I am so waiting to find out what Alicia has up her sleeves. And it kind of concearns me about Alicia writing Draco. They haven't caught the spy yet have they? Or is there still one around since the whole Draco being disowned and all.

On the weekend, Ron, Hermione, Harry, Jamie, Alicia, and Emily sat under a tree by the lake. Emily’s golden chain hung around her neck as she lay back against the russet earth. Jamie, Ron, and Harry were playing a game of Exploding Snap while Hermione caught up on some reading. Alicia was laying beside Emily, her legs cooling off in the water.

“Have you heard anything?” Alicia asked.

“From?” Emily murmured.

“Draco…”

“No, not since that one day,” she whispered. Draco and she wouldn’t talk in the corridors when they passed each other or classes. They didn’t write each other. They had no contact at all.

“I think they’d be okay with it now, you know,” Alicia said quietly.

“It doesn’t matter; we broke up, it’s over, Alicia. Can we just drop it?”

“If that’s what you really want,” Alicia said quietly.

“It is.”

“Mmmhmm,” Alicia murmured.

“I know what you’re thinking about, Ali. Don’t, just don’t. Don’t even think about it. It’s better off this way; I’m…happy,” Emily said.

“Whatever you say,” Alicia murmured.

Emily looked up at the sky and started making out shapes with the clouds. At first she made out a bunny, which then turned into a duck. She glanced to the right and saw a rainbow that was created from the morning rain. A rainbow. Sigh. She remembered the day as if it were yesterday. She remembered all of their days as if they were yesterday.


“Sometimes I wish we didn’t have to hide in here. I wish we could just walk by the lake hand in hand or eat together,” Emily whispered into his chest. She was in his arms, as usual, in their dungeon. She snuggled up into his side, her blanket tucked around her.

“I know, but we can’t,” he whispered against her hair. Emily nodded with a frown upon her pale face. She hated lying and sneaking around.

It was the next night, and Emily made her way down to their dungeon quietly. She opened the door, closing it behind her. It was pitch black in the room.

“Draco?” she asked quietly. First there was no answer, and then the lights turned blazing as he mumbled a spell under his breath. Emily stared around in shock, a smile playing on her face. She looked around at the tree and miniature lake he enchanted. She glanced up at the sky. Though it was quite late, the sky was a cloudless blue, with a colorful rainbow painted over the room. Emily’s smile grew as Draco wrapped his arms around her waist. She noticed the picnic basket sitting on a blanket under the tree.

“You said you wanted to walk by the lake and eat together, right?” he chuckled. “Well, your wish is my command,” he whispered. He kissed her cheek and led her over to the tree. They sat down on the blanket and Draco pulled out a bowl of strawberries.

“Mmmm, those are my favorite,” Emily sighed.

“I know,” Draco whispered. Draco leaned back against the trunk of the tree and Emily snuggled up into his side, resting her head in the crook of his neck.

“This is incredible, Dray,” she whispered.

“Only for you,” he replied simply.

“I’ve never seen a rainbow before, you know?”

“I didn’t know that; how come?”

Emily shrugged her shoulders. “Guess I just never came across one,” she whispered as she stared up at all the colors.

“I’m glad you finally get to see one,” Draco whispered.

“I’m glad it’s with you,” Emily said as she pecked his cheek. His arm tightened around her as they lay there, looking up at the rainbow.


“Hello? Anybody in there?” Alicia repeated as she waved her hand in front of Emily’s face. She nudged her shoulder and Emily blinked repeatedly before focusing in on Alicia and her emerald curls.

“What? Oh, yeah sorry, just spaced,” Emily muttered.

“The lunch bell rang… Want to get something to eat?” Alicia asked as she stood up. Emily nodded and took Alicia’s outstretched hand. She stood up and joined the others, making their way to the castle.

“I hope strawberries are on the menu,” Emily said quietly, more to herself than to anybody else.

“Strawberries?” Ron asked as he pulled a face. “Did the sun turn her wacko?” he said quietly to Jamie and Harry, who both laughed.

Aww that was so sad. It was lovely and very well written but sad I wish Draco was still there. I'm glad that things are going ok with her friends but I find it unfair how Alicia and Jamie are still together and have eachother even after he hit emily and now Emily has no-one

Great post Emily. Errr this is Emily being Emily isn't it? You do write very well. I almost wish for Emily that she and Draco could get back togwther for her sake. But, I won't change my mind till he gets help. Then I'd be able to re-evaluate things better. She does have wonderful memories, and it is sad she is so sad and lonely. I'll be watching for the next great post. I say that now, cause, it doesn't matter who writes the post, it is always great.

Here's Abi's post!

All through the next few weeks, Emily felt like a broken record. It felt like every five minutes that she was telling Alicia to forget about Draco and that she was happy. Every time she said it, Alicia replied with the same thing.

“Whatever you say, Ems,” Alicia said again, rolling her eyes. Jamie sighed and looked over at the two girls.

“Look, I love you both but will you please shut up!” His voice held all the worry Alicia felt.

“Sorry, Jamie… Can you stop panicking? You’re making me nervous,” Alicia said, rolling her bright green eyes. She glanced down and was shocked to find her hands shaking. “Wow… Wasn’t expecting that.”

“What?” Jamie and Emily said together. Alicia lifted a hand to show how much she was shaking. Jamie grabbed her hand.

“It’ll be okay… Harry’ll be fine- you said so yourself,” Jamie said as he rubbed her hand, trying to soothe her. Alicia shivered, even though it was a warm night. Emily wrapped an arm round her.

“Are you okay?” Emily asked loudly as the crowd exploded into cheers as the judges appeared.

“I’m not sure… I think something’s wrong though…” Alicia’s eyes flickered pink. “Draco’s looking for you,” she added, glancing at Emily.

“Right… I’ll catch up with him later,” she said absently as Harry walked out with Cedric. The screaming was louder now- they joined in, chanting his name.

Quite a while after the task had started, Alicia turned to Emily again, frowning slightly. Her green eyes held the panic she was trying to hide. Her long black hair whipped her face in the wind.

“You might want to go find Draco… He’s getting frustrated.” Emily nodded and slipped out of sight as Alicia looked down towards the judges’ table. That strange feeling of dread was slowly creeping higher.

“What is the matter with you?” Jamie said loudly as she gripped his arm tightly, her nails drawing blood.

“Something’s wrong- something’s very wrong.” Her voice was high pitched as the dread turned to terror. A frigid breeze caught her hair again as she stared off into space, her eyes turning pink.

“Ali? What do you see?” Jamie asked suddenly. Hermione and Ron turned round to look at them. “Alicia!” He caught her as she swayed where she stood.

“Harry… Gone,” she whispered and Hermione’s eyes widened. “Dumbledore… Got to see Dumbledore.” Ron vanished as Alicia continued to dig her nails into Jamie’s arm, the blood was now dripping onto the floor.

Five minutes after Ron vanished, Alicia screamed. It wasn’t any ordinary scream. It was a blood curdling screech. Hermione jumped and Jamie started to panic.

“Alicia! Ali! What is it?” he asked quickly as tears poured furiously down her cheeks, ignoring the pain from his arm. “Alicia!”

“No… No!” she said, still seeing something that wasn’t there. Hermione climbed over the row and grabbed Alicia’s other arm as people stared at them.

“Move! We’ve got to move! Find Hagrid- he’ll know what to do!” she said and Jamie helped her half- carry, half- drag Alicia through the crowd. “Where the hell is Emily?”

“She vanished just before this started,” Jamie said, distracted by Alicia’s screams of ‘NO’ and the tears still pouring down her face. The crowd parted to let them through as Hermione scanned the grounds for Hagrid. Ron appeared with Dumbledore then.

“Get her away from the other students,” he ordered quickly.

“Hagrid’s… It’s the only place close enough,” he said quickly and they headed towards the dark hut.

“NO! NO! HARRY!” Hermione stumbled as Alicia’s knees buckled. “RUN!”

“What has she said?” Dumbledore asked urgently as Jamie kicked the door open.

“That something was wrong… Really wrong- then she started screaming,” he said, starting to panic as she fell silent.

“I heard the screaming… Alicia? Can you hear me?” The girl didn’t register as she started whispering to herself.

“Fight it… Please, fight it… Listen to them.” She frowned and then blinked.

“Alicia?” Dumbledore and Jamie asked together as she glanced round her. She stared at them before sprinting to the door, shouting again.

“HARRY! HARRY!” she screamed, running straight through the crowd, towards the maze. Jamie was right behind her. Ron mentioned something about his family and melted into the crowd. Hermione started shouting for Emily. Alicia pushed past Professor Sprout and onto the pitch, heading straight for the closest gap in the high hedges. “HARRY!” The people chasing her stopped at the same time she did- all staring at the strange blue light. Alicia started running towards it.

Jamie froze as she skidded towards the two figures and dropped to her knees, trying to turn Harry over. He noticed that Cedric’s arm was gripped firmly in Harry’s hand while the Tri- wizard cup was in the other.

“NO!” Alicia shouted as Dumbledore bent over Cedric, his face unreadable. “BRING HIM BACK! BRING HIM BACK! HE CAN’T BE DEAD!”

And then the mayhem started.

Hello Abi, My goodness! What a breathtaking post! This post started off on the edge, and just kept on even more so. Did that make sense? I'm just saying it started intense and kept getttting more intense. This was wonderfully written. Is this when Harry was dueling with Voldemort, and the last people he killed came back each telling him to get him... and then Harry's parents told him what and when to do it? This must be terrifying for Alisha to witness! Oh my goodness! I'm glad you stopped there. I need to catch my breath before I can read anymore. Great post Abi. I'll be watching for the next.
