Hello Abi. I was afraid Alisha would loose her temper after Emily lost hers. I wish though she hadn't run off. I hope she's gone someplace safe. And I hope Jamie is able to find her. He didn't have to be told twice did he!
Harry seems to be handling it better than I was afraid he would. Poor man. I feel so bad for him.

Emily and Draco didn’t go down to dinner that night, staying in Emily’s room. Emily continued to cry into Draco’s shirt, even more now that Jamie and Alicia left. She couldn’t help but think it was all her fault, though when she voiced that thought, Draco shot it down. Hermione and Harry brought them their dinner, so they didn’t have to leave the room.

“We need to go find her,” Emily whispered after she finished the last of her juice. Draco had already finished and was leaning back against the bed frame, watching her. She nestled into his side and laid her head back on his chest.

“Tomorrow we leave for Hogwarts, I’m sure she just went back early… Her and Jamie are fine,” he soothed as his fingers drifted up and down her spine.

“It’s all my fault,” she repeated for the hundredth time. She could already feel Draco shaking his head.

“No it isn’t, I promise… Black was asking for it,” Draco whispered. Emily sniffled and Draco held her tighter to his body. He knew her tears had started again. Emily shivered once and Draco started pushing down the covers from underneath them so that they could get under them. He tucked the quilt in around her and she whispered a muffled “Thank You” into his neck.

“Will you stay with me tonight? I don’t want to be alone…” she whispered, her thoughts returning to Alicia.

“Of course,” he murmured. They stayed like that for a little while longer until Emily finally sat up. “What is it?” Draco asked, looking around for what alarmed her.

“I just can’t sit here, waiting… You heard what Alicia said about Voldemort… We need to go look for her, please?” she whispered as he sat up too. He studied her face for a minute and she just stared back, wondering what he was seeing.

“Okay, let’s go look for them… We need to leave a note for the others at least,” he said quietly as he scooted out of bed and started slipping on his shoes. Emily was already a step ahead of him, scribbling on a piece of parchment.

Left to find Ali and Jamie. Don’t come after us.

Draco nodded as he read it over her shoulder. She placed it on the bed, near their pillow, and slipped into her flats. Draco held his jacket out for her and she slipped her arms through the sleeves. She grabbed her wand from her bedside table and then took his hand as they quietly made their way down the hall to the front door.

As they made it to the street, Emily and Draco glanced around cautiously, seeing movement across the street. It was Jamie, walking back in forth as he cursed himself, occasionally kicking a pebble away.

“Jamie!” Emily said to get his attention. Jamie stopped pacing and looked around. Draco and Emily jogged over to him. He pulled Emily into a hug before he started pacing again.

“Jamie, where’s Alicia?” Emily asked cautiously.

“I don’t know,” he said in frustration. “She was gone before I had the chance to come after her…”

“I’m sorry, Jamie, this is all my fault…” Emily whispered. Draco squeezed her fingers, shaking his head.

“No, it isn’t, Ems… She’s just being her… Somebody needed to tell Sirius to stop acting like that and you and Alicia just happened to be the ones to do it,” Jamie said as he shook his head.

“Do you have any idea where she may have gone?” Draco asked quietly.

“I think she must have taken the Knight Bus, but I don’t where she would have taken it to,” Jamie replied.

“Only one way to find out,” Emily murmured as she started thinking about being in need of the Knight Bus. She stuck out her wand and it arrived seconds later in front of them, the glossy purple gleaming in the moonlight.

“Welcome to the Knight Bus, emergency transport for the stranded witch or wizard. Just stick out your wand hand, step on board, and we can take you anywhere you want to go. My name is Stan Shunpike, and I will be your conductor this evening,” said a man in a purple uniform, reading from a note card. He eyed the three of them suspiciously for a minute, his pimples standing out on his pale face.

Emily started moving toward the man, towing Draco along. “It’s eleven sickles each, but for firteen you get an ‘ot water bottle an’ a toofbrush in the color of your choice,” he went on.

“Here,” Emily said as she rummaged in the small purse she remembered to grab on her way out of her room. She handed him an equivalent of thirty-three sickles. He narrowed his eyes at the money, but then let them on board. The bus was filled with half a dozen of bedsteads, rather than seats. Emily and Draco sat down side by side on one of the beds and Jamie sat across from them.

“No luggage?” Stan asked suspiciously.

“No,” Emily said shortly. Stan grunted as he sat on another bed, looking at the three of them. Nobody else was on board, and Emily was disappointed. She was hoping that Alicia wouldn’t have had time to get to her destination before they got on board.

“Where to?” Stan asked impatiently, still eyeing the money to see if it would disappear.

“Well, that’s the thing,” Emily said slowly. “We believe you transported a friend of ours somewhere… She’s our age,” Emily began.

“She probably had black hair at the time; she was angry you see,” Jamie added, looking expectantly at the conductor.

“So, you want to know where she went?” Stan said with the hint of a smile.

Emily nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah, can you tell us?”

“No, I can’t… Sorry. It’s me job if I ‘old you that. It’s part of clause four, where—”

“We don’t bloody care about your clauses,” Jamie said angrily. Emily kicked his knee and he started rubbing it immediately, scowling at her.

“Look, we need to know where she is; it’s important,” Emily began again. Stan was still shaking his head.

“Fine then, take us to Hogwarts,” Emily said in frustration.

“Take ‘er away, Ern,” he said to the driver. There was a loud BANG and then they were off.

“Why Hogwarts?” Jamie asked her suddenly.

“I figure she either went to see Hagrid or…” Emily began.

“Firenze,” Jamie finished, hitting his head in the process.

A few moments later, Ernie slammed on the brakes and they all fell forward, Emily falling into Jamie.

“Sorry,” she mumbled as he helped her up, laughing lightly.

“No problem,” he chortled. Emily looked around and noticed the snowy village of Hogsmeade. She had a feeling that this was as far as they were going to be able to go.

“Thanks,” Emily mumbled to Ernie and Stan as she started walking toward the exit.

“Now what?” Jamie asked angrily as he paced back and forth in front of the gates of Hogwarts.

“Now, we send word of our arrival… But who to send it to?” Emily said, more to herself than to the boys.

“How about Hagrid?” Jamie asked after a second of thinking.

“I guess so… I have some parchment in here somewhere,” she mumbled to herself as she rummaged for her parchment and a quill. She found it a minute later and sent her note off to Hagrid.

After lying about wanting to come back early and telling him they’d go straight to bed and what not, they snuck into the woods, searching for Alicia.

Sorry, I was going to give the others a chance to read yours first, but then it was like four days, so I decided to post. I'm working on the next post, I promise! I'm just trying to figure out where I want to begin it. :/

Hello Emily! Wow, that was really powerful good! (sorry, I'm just trying to think of a new way of telling you girls how good your posts are.) I'm thinking he's worried they might get caught be Voldemort, or worse, his father. Well, not worse, but just as bad. But, he put his fear to the side seeing her pain and decided to do what she wanted. Ha! Exactly what I was thinking! Oh dear. I hate lying. This is so dangerous! I think they should have just outright told Hagrid they were going into the forrest and started off. He would have followed them if only to try to get them to go back. But at least he'd be there to protect them. Great post Emily. I'll be watching for the next.

Alicia stuck out her hand and watched as the Knight bus pulled up beside her. She ignored the conductor and stormed onto the bus.

“Hogwarts- Now” She ordered, practically throwing eleven sickles at Stan. There was a bang and they were rolling through the snowy village. She stormed off and towards the gates. Firenze? I need to talk to you… She thought, staring at the edge of the Forest. A white blonde head of hair appeared through the trees. She waved and the palomino Centaur trotted towards her.

“Alicia… What is this? You’re supposed to be returning tomorrow!” Firenze said as he opened the gates.

“I lost my temper and stormed out…” She muttered as they walked across the snowy lawns. As they reached the edge of the trees, she waved a hand and their prints in the snow vanished. Firenze raised an eyebrow.

“Why did you lose your temper, young one?” He asked in a soothing voice as they made their way through the trees. Alicia’s hair was now a jade colour.

“Sirius said something to Emily and it upset her so I started shouting at him… I said some things that were really mean but I don’t regret saying them…” She said as she stepped over a patch of nettles.

“So why are you here?” He said calmly, letting her pass into a clearing first. She waved her hand so that the snow vanished from a fallen tree.

“I think my temper got the better of me… like it used to when I was ten” She said, sitting down. Firenze folded his legs underneath him as he sat on the patch of clear grass Alicia had made for him. “Do you remember?”

“Of course I do… Your brother and sister were tormenting you and you Flooed yourself into the castle and ran in here to find me” He said, smiling a little. “Alicia, you haven’t changed much since I first met you when you were five and you spent your summers with Hagrid. The one change I can see clearly, is the one of Jamie Starlight,” Alicia looked away from his face, watching the sun dance off of the snow. “He has caused a great change in you with his presence… I sense there is something else bothering you?” He said as she glanced at him.

“You’re getting good at that…” She muttered before telling him about her vision. “So I know I’m going to die soon” She said quietly, staring at the glistening snow again.

“That is not your only choice, young one” Firenze said, putting a hand on her shoulder. Alicia’s jade hair turned black.

“I’m not joining him, Firenze!” She said angrily. “I’d rather die than join him- I’m not going to be forced into killing Muggles or hunting down my friends!”

“I was not talking about that choice- I was talking about the choice of the fight” Firenze said, taking Alicia’s hand in his. “You have seen it in the stars, young one, you know it is coming” She looked at him carefully.

“So have you…” She said quietly and he shook his head.

“You know I cannot tell you how it ends, Alicia” He said calmly. She sighed and returned to watching the snow.

“So, what now? Are you going to tell me to go back to Sirius’ or up to castle or to go home?” She sighed, looking over at him.

“None- that is up to you to decide. But I will allow for you to stay with the herd if you wish” He said and she laughed.

“Oh, that option! I’ve just missed Bane so much!” Firenze laughed with her. The sun vanished behind the tops of the trees and the moonlight lit their clearing, Alicia’s hair turned dark brown.

“What is it, young one?” Firenze said as she jumped to her feet. Then he heard the footsteps too. “That is your friends, searching for you” He stated as Jamie’s voice called her name.

“Hagrid let them into the castle grounds… Firenze, what do I do?” She seemed to be on the verge of tears. Emily’s voice called for her too.

“That is up to you, Alicia- you must choose what you want to do…” Draco’s voice sounded closer than the others. “But my opinion is that you go with them. You are safer with company-”

“I’m safer with you, Firenze! Here, in the Forest! I’m just putting them at risk by being round them!” She said, her voice slightly high. She heard Jamie’s and Emily’s voice call together, sounding just behind a couple of trees.

“You have been warned about your future choices, young one- I suggest you let that future come to you, do not fight it!” The three voices called again, sounding closer than ever. “We are here” Firenze called as tears ran down Alicia’s face. He stood and walked to her, hugging her tightly. “Remember that you are always welcome into the sanctuary of the Forest, Alicia”

“Ali!” Jamie said in relief as he burst through the trees, Emily and Draco right behind him. He ran towards her as Firenze stepped back. He wrapped his arms round her as she continued to cry.

“Remember what we have spoken about, my young one” Firenze said quietly. “And I shall be seeing you soon” He vanished into the trees and Alicia dropped back onto the tree trunk.

The four of them stayed in the Forest for a little while longer, Alicia crying into Jamie’s chest as Emily held her hand. Draco held Emily’s other hand, feeling like this should just be between Emily, Alicia, and Jamie. But when he tried to leave, Emily begged him not to, so he stayed.

“Ali, what’s really going on?” Emily asked quietly.

“Nothing,” Alicia whispered a she whipped her tears from her face. She began to stand and Jamie steadied her. “Let’s just go inside,” she whispered, starting to walk away, dropping Emily’s hand in the process. Emily and Draco followed after them silently.

They slowly walked up to the castle, where they could see dull lights lighting some of the halls. As they arrived at the doors, they slowly slid open, revealing McGonagall in a dark green robe with her hair in her infamous bun.

“Hagrid told me you three were back,” she said as her eyes slid over Emily, Draco, and Jamie. “I wasn’t aware that you were here also, Miss Daniels,” she said as she looked at Alicia expectantly.

“Right, sorry about the lateness, Professor,” Emily spoke up as she moved through the doors, dragging Draco with her.

“Yes, well let’s hurry before Dolores finds you,” McGonagall said hurriedly as she ushered Alicia and Jamie through the door.

“Mr. Malfoy, I suggest you head straight to your Common Room, and if you meet her on the way, tell her you had my permission,” she said tartly to Draco.

Emily looked at him with sad eyes. It was moments like these she wished he were in Gryffindor.

“Can’t he just stay with Jamie tonight? Please, Professor?” Emily begged her. Draco shuffled his feet awkwardly as McGonagall looked between the two.

“Fine, but nobody is to know! Luckily, no Gryffindors stayed over the holiday… Just make sure you’re not seen in the morning,” McGonagall allowed. Emily grinned as she grabbed Draco’s hand more tightly in hers. “And if I find out you two are doing something you ought not to be doing!” McGonagall warned.

“Of course not, Professor,” Emily mumbled, loosening her grip on his fingers slightly. Draco was blushing violently while Jamie stifled his laugh; Alicia stayed impassive through it all, thinking of other things.

McGonagall hurried them along and they soon arrived in Gryffindor tower. Draco stared around the Common Room curiously as Emily led him to one of the arm chairs. Alicia and Jamie took the love seat.

“Miss Black,” McGonagall said as she reentered the Common Room. Emily quickly jumped from Draco’s lap, walking over to McGonagall quickly.

“Yes, Professor? I promise we weren’t doing anything! I was just sitting in his lap, and—” Emily began in a hurry. McGonagall held up her hand.

“I just got word from your father, saying you ran away,” McGonagall said curtly. Emily fidgeted uncomfortably. “He is most worried about you. Why did you run away?”

“It’s not exactly like that,” Emily whispered as she glanced behind her at the others. “We, er, had a fight and so I left… And they came with me,” she lied. She wasn’t sure why, but the meeting Alicia had with Firenze seemed personal and Emily didn’t want to rat her out. “Look, there’s nothing to talk about, Professor. Tell him I’m here if you must, but I don’t want to talk to him,” Emily said quietly as she went back to Draco. He held his arms out and she snuggled up into them as McGonagall clicked her tongue and left.

“Alicia, what happened? I know it’s more than just the fight with Sirius,” Emily whispered from her bed. Alicia was staring at a spot on the floor.

“Hmmm?” she asked.

“Did you see something?” Emily whispered.

Alicia looked her over once. “No, I didn’t see anything new,” she answered. Emily scrutinized her, but said nothing more. After they finished getting dressed, they made their way to the boys’ room. Before entering, Emily grabbed Alicia’s hand and made her turn to face her.

“I don’t know what’s up with you, Ali, but I’m always here for you. And no matter what, you’re not going to lose me,” Emily whispered. Alicia nodded once, on the verge of tears as she pushed open the door and yanked her hand free from Emily.

Draco was pulling on a long sleeved shirt when Emily walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist.

“You promised McGonagall,” he smirked as he twisted in her arms. She had a forced smile on her lips and he could tell. He towed her over to Harry’s bed and pulled the covers down, climbing in. Emily scooted into Draco’s side as she started crying into his shirt, thinking of how distant Alicia was being. She just lost her dad; she wasn’t ready to lose her sister too.

Draco pulled the curtains around their bed closed and muttered a charm so that Emily’s muffled crying wouldn’t disturb the others. He rubbed soothing circles into her back and she eventually fell asleep to the slow thumping of his heart.

The next day came soon and Draco slipped out of the bed before Emily even awoke. He kissed her forehead lightly and left Gryffindor Tower.

Aww don't cry Emily Things will work out soon! I'll be your granny Soph in the meantime if you like I'm pretty sure things will be back to normal with her Dad soon though I don't know about Ali. She has a secret she won't share!

Ready?

Alicia watched Emily walk over to Draco and both of them climb into Harry’s bed. She noted the tears sliding down her sister’s cheeks before the curtains closed round them. Jamie was sitting in his bed, watching Alicia carefully. She didn’t look over at him but moved towards Ron’s bed. He sighed and stood, catching her arm.

“Come here…” He could see her reluctance to go near him as he pulled her onto the bed. He waved his wand and the hangings closed round them. “I know you lied to Emily… There is something wrong… And don’t say it was the fight with Sirius or it’s nothing…” He put his hand under her chin to make her look at him instead of the sheets.

“Jamie, I-” She started but he shook his head, hearing the lie that was coming in her voice.

“How long have I known you?” He asked and she frowned slightly, confused about the direction the conversation was going.

“Five years” She said automatically. “Why?”

“And out of those five years, how many have we been together?” He asked, ignoring her question.

“All of them…” Her voice was growing quieter and quieter.

“So would you say that I know you the best?” She nodded and looked down at her hands. “Ali, I can tell when you’re lying, when you’re happy or sad- even miserable… So I’m asking you to tell me what is wrong- even if you don’t want me to know, I want to and I won’t give up till I know”

Alicia twisted out of his arm and scooted towards the other end of the bed. “There’s nothing to tell… I’m just upset about the fight, that’s all…” He went to take her hand but she moved it out of reach. “I just want to sleep… I haven’t been sleeping lately… Not since the attack… Maybe being back in the castle will help… Goodnight, Jamie” She scrambled off the bed and through the gap in the hangings. Jamie closed his eyes and sighed sadly as the dormitory door opened and closed quietly. Alicia ran to her dorm and climbed into her own bed. How could she stay round her friends and family when they were in danger just for knowing her? How could she do that to Jamie? She breathed in deeply and hugged herself, trying to pull herself together.

The morning dawned bright and Alicia woke to the sound of movement downstairs. She sighed and climbed out of bed to get dressed.

“Gah!” She clutched her heart as she fell onto her bed again. Emily didn’t move, she just sat on her bed, staring at her. “You scared me!”

“And you’re scaring me- not to mention Jamie…” She said as she watched her. Alicia bit down on her bottom lip. Her eyes were drawn to the bracelet Emily had given her- it was a light blue.

“I’m sorry… I was tired and irritable” She said calmly. She didn’t even hear the lie in her voice- she was too good at lying now. “Do you want to come down to breakfast with me?” She asked the question as she turned to get dresses, pulling out her black dress with the white collar.

“All right… I’ll wait downstairs, then” Emily said slowly, standing up and backing out of the room. She was frowning as she closed the door.

Alicia let out a sigh as she heard Emily descend the stairs. “Great… I’m turning into a master liar…” She said to herself, kicking her trunk shut. A couple of tears escaped from the corner of her eye but she wiped them away. She concentrated on turning her hair scarlet- her bracelet stayed light blue. She pulled it up into a bun and stuck her quill through it and left the room. She put a smile on her face and skipped towards where Emily and Jamie sat on the sofa. “Good morning… I guess Emily told you hat I said upstairs?” She said, kissing Jamie’s cheek.

“As usual, you guessed right…” He said as they climbed out the portrait hole. They walked down to the Great Hall and found Draco waiting in the doorway. “Where’d you vanish to?” Jamie asked as they headed towards the Gryffindor Table. Barely anyone looked at them anymore- they were used to the Slytherin now.

“I was told not to be seen so I went to my own common room… How’s Alicia?” He added in a whisper as he sat down next to Jamie.

“She’s fine today, thank you” Alicia said, buttering toast for them all. She smiled at Draco, who raised his eyebrows at Emily, who shrugged. “The others should be here soon… They’re coming on the Knight Bus with Tonks and Remus” Alicia said and she saw Emily’s head look up. “We’re going to meet them so don’t worry… It’s not really the beginning of term yet anyway” Alicia started humming to herself and the three of them swapped looks.

“Can you pass me a slice of toast, please, Alicia?” Emily said suddenly and she did. As she raised her left arm, Emily saw the bracelet- it was still light blue. She frowned for a second. “Thanks” She motioned to Jamie to look but Alicia had put her hand under the table, already one step ahead of them.

It was Emily's Christmas present to Alicia. It's kind of like her hair; it changes colors due to her mood and emotions, except, unlike her hair, she can't change the color of the bracelet when she wants...

Emily fidgeted uncomfortably as they made their way down the path to the gate to Hogsmeade. Draco kept rubbing soothing circles into her hand, but it wasn’t really working. She wasn’t sure what Remus would tell her and she had no idea how she was going to explain herself.

And it didn’t help that Alicia was still lying to them and faking happiness. She glanced at Alicia again, whose hand was held in Jamie’s. Her bracelet was still light blue, but there was no way she could tell him to look at it without Alicia already knowing she was going to. As they rounded the corner, Emily could see the others getting off of the Knight Bus. Remus and Tonks were already unlocking the gate and coming through.

Emily slowed her walk, pulling Draco back slightly to let Alicia and Jamie pass them. Remus was already watching them carefully, his eyes always lingering on Emily longer than the others.

Remus started talking to Harry before they met them. George, Fred, Ginny, Hermione, Ron, and Harry started walking up the path, passing them along the way. They knew that Remus would want to talk to them alone.

“So,” Remus started, looking at Emily.

“So?” Emily repeated.

“What were you thinking, disappearing like that?” he started shouting. “Haven’t you realized that Voldemort is out there right now?” Alicia flinched slightly and Jamie glanced at her.

“Look, it’s not like tha—” Emily began.

“It’s not like what, Emily? It’s not like you’re in danger? It’s not like Lucius is already out for you? One Death Eater means all Death Eaters, Emily! When are you going to get that through your head?”

“It’s my fault, Remus… I left and they were just coming after me,” Alicia said quietly. His glare turned to her.

“I know!” he growled. “What were you thinking, leaving like that, Alicia? You of all people should know what’s been going on,” he said as he gave her a look.

“Hey! We got here fine, didn’t we? No harm done! It’s fine! We get it; we won’t run away again,” Emily yelled at him. He narrowed his eyes at her, his mouth a thin line.

“Fine,” he said shortly. “Emily, I’d like to speak to in private,” he said quietly. Emily gulped before nodding. The others stayed and talked to Tonks while Emily was dragged by the arm to a spot off to the side.

“Are you okay?” he whispered, his eyes softening tremendously. A tear leaked out of her eye and he wiped it away.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” she said shortly as she looked away.

“No, you’re not… Sirius told me what happened,” he said quietly.

“Look, it’s over now. End of story.”

“Ems, Sirius loves you very much. He was just upset and wasn’t talking like himself. He didn’t mean any of it,” he said softly.

“Stop it! Just stop! Stop making things up for him! Stop trying to cover his back! He meant everything he said and so did I!” Emily crossed her against her chest as angry tears flowed from her eyes.

“You know you don’t mean that,” Remus said softly as he put his hands on her shoulders. She shook them off.

“Don’t I?” she countered.

“No, you don’t.”

“I think I do,” she said curtly. “Have a good time with your wolf pack. I’ll see you when term ends,” Emily said as she reached up and kissed him on the cheek. She stomped over to Alicia, Jamie, Draco, and Tonks, Remus following shortly after.

“We should really get back—lots of studying to do,” Emily said quickly as she hugged Tonks once and then started up the slippery hill. Draco jogged over to her, quickening his pace to keep up with her.

“What happened?” he asked as he reached for her hand, which was balled up into a fist.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” she said shortly, anger evident in her tone. She heard Jamie and Alicia behind her and knew that Alicia was probably reading her thoughts right now. She turned around quickly, stopping immediately. Alicia and Jamie did a double take as Draco almost tripped from the fastness.

“If you’re not going to share your thoughts, then don’t you dare read into mine, Alicia Daniels!” Emily yelled at her. Jamie looked stricken, but Alicia seemed to know that it was coming. She looked down at her hands, before meeting her eyes.

“Fine…” Alicia whispered, sighing.
