Post Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - What did you think?

As the famous tagline says, 'It All Ends.' But not for die-hard Harry Potter fans.

The SnitchSeeker news team invites all members of the site, and fans from around the world, to partake in a discussion right here about the finale of the incredible Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, set to hit theatres on Friday, July 15, 2011, in most countries.

Several nations released the final film as early as Wednesday, so we again invite everyone to discuss their favourite parts of the final film, what they'll miss the most, what broke their hearts and made them laugh out loud. Come one and all, and celebrate the end of the Harry Potter film series right here.

Yes, spoilers are allowed in the comments, for those who have seen it. Members are allowed to ask one another questions about the finale, and the series as a whole if they so choose to. This is an open discussion on the finale, once again, and of course, all site and forums rules apply.

Everyone sitting and waiting for midnight shows tonight - have fun, and don't forget to bring some tissues! We hope you enjoy the movie; the news staff has seen the film, and will agree with Daniel Radcliffe when we say it is the best of the franchise by far.

So, without further ado... Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - What did you think?!

One last note: rest assured that this is hardly the end of the Harry Potter fandom, and hardly the end of SnitchSeeker. It is indeed another chapter closed in the fandom (the first being four years ago with the release of the seventh book), but there is so much more to come. From Pottermore to Harry Potter: the Exhibition and the Harry Potter Leavesden Tours in the UK, Harry Potter will live on forever. We hope you stick with us for the entire ride.

Spoiler - yes it is very violent, but given the angle at which it's shown, you don't really see the worst of it.

I can't wait to see Part 2! Luna Lovegood is my favorite character and I read all the books. For anybody who saw the movie, does Luna fight in the battle and what scenes is she in?

CONTAINS SPOILERS

I quite literally cried through 50% of the movie on Monday. I had a tissue in each hand and just wept silently in my seat. Everything from the music playing when the armor came to life to the scenes showing the dead in the Great Hall. I was thrown when they showed Lavendar lifeless on the floor, it caused more tears that I wouldn't have expected. Then the whole scene with Snape speaking with Dumbledore, to holding Lily in his arms and crying. Oh god, I'm not sure if I'm ready to go cry all over again in a few more hours!

Is the death of Voldemort really changed? If so, is it bad?

The location of his death is changed, yes. Instead of a battle in the Great Hall, there is a good 10 minute battle sequence spread across the Hogwarts grounds. It's really quite epic and visually stunning, not a disappointment at all.

I heard the way he dies is different. That's the only thing I'm worried about.

Well, he does sort of *ahem* disintegrate and little Voldie bits do fly toward you in 3D.

I haven't watched the movie because it won't be Showing in my country, even if the previous ones did. I just hope that 'the prince's tale' was really good because it's the makes people understand the whole point of the story. How long is the movie anyway ? There's a lot to put in...

Reading the book does not prepare you for the broom-ride of emotions (instead of "rollercoaster ride".. get it? :] ) in this movie. I enjoyed the movie very much. Unless I missed it, they didn't show Colin Creevy die. But it makes sense because people may not remember "that kid from the CoS movie". For those who don't read the books that is.

LAVENDER BROWN is a complete nutter, but I cried my eyes out when I saw her+Fenrir! Nobody deserves that. Nobody.

Apologies on your question not being answered yet! She definitely plays a helpful role in the film, to Harry, but she's more of a background fighter, I'd say.

Spoiler - I sincerely dislike Snape (always have), and 'The Prince's Tale' nearly broke my heart; Alan Rickman is incredible there. It's a bit over two hours, but it's so crazy fast-paced that it doesn't feel sort, but definitely doesn't drag on. So time-wise it's fine.

God yes, but a lot of it goes by so fast that it is very blink-and-you-missed. Which is why I'm glad for all the behind-the-scenes specials, you see way more there.

First of all, thanks to Snitchseeker for the nice thread.

I want the people who are able to watch it in theaters to know how lucky they are.
The chance to watch it in theater...
Not everyone has that chance. I'm in Iran, and I have to wait months to get the DVD...
and it's so sad that this is how I'll have to say goodbye to the series I literally grew up with.

Anyway,
I have ten questions from the friends who've watched it. Sorry it's a lot, I just wanna know how the movie is...

1) Among the trio who acted the best?
2) How long was the Prince's Tale part, and what was Harry's reaction afterward? I mean, in the book he sort of jumped out of the memories and he fell to the floor and all... was his reaction like in the book?
3) The scene of Lily's death, was there any dialogs like the part in the book?
4) Can you tell me about King's Cross part? How was it?
5) Is it true they say the movie is even better than the book?
6) Was King's Cross shown right after Harry's DEATH? Do the audience know by the time the procession part begins, that Harry's actually alive? How did he come to life in front of the others?
7) Is it better in 2D or 3D? or both...?
8) How was the epilogue; who acted the best in the part? How was the makeup and atmosphere?
9) Was there any of famous scenes or dialogs changed majorly? Any scenes added? Were they good? Did you hate any changes, or love any?
10) Can you explain the "Price's Tale" and "the Forest Again" parts as much as you can please?

Again, sorry they're too many.

You don't actually see him get bitten by the snake you just see him being throne back on the window and you see some blood

I'll answer as many as I can that I can remember off the top of my head!

1) I think they are all at the peak of their acting performance within the series. I honestly couldn't tell you who acted better as they were all so excellent.
2) The Princes Tale lasted, at least, 10 minutes. It may seem short, but everything was so beautiful and touching. And yes, Harry reacts very similar to the book. He sits down in Dumbledore's office as he soaks it all in.
4) Its bright! After the darkness of the entire film, it is definitely other worldly, even if I did think Dumbledore resembled Gandalf the White quite a bit.
5) I think it depends on your preferences. Some people like the movies better and yes, it was an AMAZING movie, but nothing shall ever beat reading the books.
6) Yes, after Voldemort hits him, we go directly into the Kings Cross scene. And when Voldemort is in front of the doors of Hogwarts, Harry throws himself down to the ground after a distraction by Neville - who is none the wiser that Harry is alive as anyone else.
8) Epilogue was great Dan really performed the best as he posessed most of the dialogue. The kids were adorable and the whole scene was just really touching. As he train pulls away, the camera zooms in to the trio and its just very nice.

Luna actually makes it in quite a few scenes. We see here when the trio find out about the Room of Requirement upon their return to Hogwarts. Luna also directs Harry to find The Grey Lady, she has a scene with Neville after the battle, and I'm sure there is another scene, but I can't quite remember right now, I was so overwhelmed on Monday with everything!

Lmao, just a few questions there. Let's see how I can help. SPOILERS

1. All three are incredible, they truly are. Rupert's always natural and on top of his game, Emma's great too, but I think Dan REALLY stepped up in terms of his performance as Harry. He's fantastic.

2. The Prince's Tale takes a fair few minutes, and you get very engulfed in it. Harry's reaction is more or less the same (there have been a couple of photos of Harry just sort of sitting on the steps of Dumbledore's office, taking it all in).

3. Lily's death? You mean at Godric's Hollow for The Prince's Tale? Mm, not really no.

4. King's Cross - as in straight after Harry's death? It's GORGEOUS, and well done by Dan and Michael, but a few things were left out, plot-wise. It's straight to the point, but the Ariana backstory was left out of the film.

5. Never. The book will always be better; it's just that this film is really superbly made.

6. King's Cross is immediately after, yes. The crowd is aware that Harry's alive when he drops down from Hagrid's arms and runs for it, lmao.

7. Haven't seen it in 2D, just 3D, but it's a very subtle 3D, so I don't think you'd miss much watching it in 2D, to be honest.

8. Epilogue - makeup is great, they look their age (finally), Ron's a bit hilarious. The conversation between Harry and Albus is wonderful - Dan plays a father way too naturally!

9. There's a lot, so much to list. I'm not going to say them all, but the way Voldemort and Bellatrix ultimately die isn't a way I would have preferred, to be honest.

10. The Prince's Tale is pretty faithful to the book, up till Dumbledore tells Snape the truth about why Harry was kept alive. There are a ton of added bits, the most notable being of Snape visiting the Potters' home after Lily and James died, and cradling Lily in his arms while sobbing his heart out (it's so intense and wonderful). I think most of The Forest Again has been released already, so not much new there, to be honest. Hope that helps!
