Post Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - What did you think?

As the famous tagline says, 'It All Ends.' But not for die-hard Harry Potter fans.

The SnitchSeeker news team invites all members of the site, and fans from around the world, to partake in a discussion right here about the finale of the incredible Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, set to hit theatres on Friday, July 15, 2011, in most countries.

Several nations released the final film as early as Wednesday, so we again invite everyone to discuss their favourite parts of the final film, what they'll miss the most, what broke their hearts and made them laugh out loud. Come one and all, and celebrate the end of the Harry Potter film series right here.

Yes, spoilers are allowed in the comments, for those who have seen it. Members are allowed to ask one another questions about the finale, and the series as a whole if they so choose to. This is an open discussion on the finale, once again, and of course, all site and forums rules apply.

Everyone sitting and waiting for midnight shows tonight - have fun, and don't forget to bring some tissues! We hope you enjoy the movie; the news staff has seen the film, and will agree with Daniel Radcliffe when we say it is the best of the franchise by far.

So, without further ado... Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - What did you think?!

One last note: rest assured that this is hardly the end of the Harry Potter fandom, and hardly the end of SnitchSeeker. It is indeed another chapter closed in the fandom (the first being four years ago with the release of the seventh book), but there is so much more to come. From Pottermore to Harry Potter: the Exhibition and the Harry Potter Leavesden Tours in the UK, Harry Potter will live on forever. We hope you stick with us for the entire ride.

First of all, excuse me for the really long post that this is going to be but I need to get this off my chest

I saw the film a couple of days ago and the first thing I want to say is that if Alan Rickman doesn't get some serious recognition after his performance in this film I'll be very upset!! He's been brilliant throughout the entire series all the way from his first scene in the films and his performance in this one was just beyond words. He's practically comparable to God for me at the moment Lol, didn't know how else to put it! I'm so happy we were lucky enough to have him in the films.

I cried a lot in this film, it actually started before I'd even entered the cinema And I cried more or less through the whole time. I really loved this film and there were so many good scenes that I'm not going to start going through all of them. Instead, I'll point out a couple of things that bothered me. There weren't many, so it's easier this way First of all, the thing that bothers me the most is Harry and Voldemort's final confrontation. I didn't mind them flying around Hogwarts, I understand it had to be done for cinematic reasons, and it did look very good... although what in the name of Merlin's pants was the part when they fell off the tower and started scratching each other's faces (or that's what it looked like to me)? Anyway, I quite enjoyed the way they handled the confrontation up until they landed on the ground, alone. I found it quite weird that Harry is fighting Voldemort and no one is there to witness it. Also, I really wanted Harry to give his speech to Voldemort about Snape's loyalties etc. However, the thing that made least sense to me was that after Harry had killed Voldemort there seemed to be no reaction from the other people. Everyone was just sitting inside, like "Ok, Voldemort's dead then? Good job Harry!". That just didn't make any sense at all.

But I really don't want to complain, because I truly loved this film with all my heart! You could tell that all the cast and crew had put their heart and soul into it and wanted to give their best. The performances were better than ever, the music was amazing and the special effects stunning.

The scene of the trio standing outside Hogwarts after the battle was really touching... When the screen went black, it really felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest When the text "19 years later" appeared on screen, I started sobbing even more. That scene was perfect! Even though it was short, it really captured the essence of it. And the music was perfect for the scene. The moment when they showed the trio's faces and the screen started fading into black was just surreal... I seriously sat there in complete disbelief, tears on my cheeks and big pieces of my heart on the cinema floor. The feeling was so overwhelming that I wasn't able to do anything else but just stare at the credits.

After I finally managed to get up and start leaving with my friends, I noticed a couple of girls two rows behind me who had such huge sadness in their eyes when they sat there and stared at the screen... We looked at each other and without words we all understood each other completely. Because the thing is that my friends aren't fans to the same extent as I am. That became particularly clear when outside the cinema one of my friends looked at me and said "don't worry, there'll be other films". But that's not true. Something special came to an end that night and there'll never be anything like this ever again. It's the strong emotional bond that makes this so unique. The one thing I'm sad about is that I didn't really have a chance to share these moments with people who feel the same about this.

I'm so happy that this series got such a brilliant ending! I will never forget these ten years. Right now the nostalgy is unbearable... it feels like only yesterday when I went to see the first film. I can still remember how I sat in the car on the way home and had a strong feeling that something magical had just started. Even though I had read the first books before that, I still immediately bonded with the first film too. That bond is still there and always will be. After 30 hears, hearing Hedwig's Theme will probably still make my heart leap and bring tears to my eyes...

I'm listening to "A Window to the Past" from PoA soundtrack at the moment and crying my eyes out

AWW I feel you completely Nia! I agree with everything you said, except the King's Cross scene also really bothered me because it hardly tied up any loose ends like it's supposed to :/
But I know what you mean. The nostalgia is terrible right now. But my brother told me that don't think of it as ending. Think of it as being complete. Now we can read the entire series and watch the entire series without having to wait. Harry Potter will always exist.

I'm saying this to make myself feel better as much as for you. :/

Thumbs up I Loved it!!!

HP7 had the most action in it to date. It didn't seem to slow down. When things were not being blown up your emotions were running so high you hardly noticed the fighting stopped. It also did not lead in with any back story. I will have to have it when it comes out on disc.

I swear if we get confirmation that that is what happened, I will be beyond incensed. What, did they think they'd substitute her for Colin Creevey? If that's what they did, talk about going so far outside of canon they went into an alternate universe!

MAJOR SPOILERS!

I went to the midnight premiere and found it very hard to follow because there was so much to watch! It was still very good; I cried for 50% of the movie! Then, I went again about 4 days after and was able to catch everything I missed as well as strengthen my opinion on the movie.

As soon as the opening scene came up I had tears in my eyes. Alan Rickman does a beyond amazing job as Severus. Its heart wrenching, and "Here Lies Dobby, A Free Elf" gets me every time.

The beginning is a bit of a slow, but necessary build up. The dragon in the Gringotts scene is very convincing. The crew did an amazing job. I wish the exhaustion, weakness, and pain Hermione feels after being tortured was more evident, but it seems they sort of moved on.

As soon as the trio gets to Hogsmeade, things begin to pick up. When the trio walks in to the Room of Requirement I always get chills. The original theme song plays and everyone is just applauding them. Its amazing.

The scene when Snape questions the school about Harry's whereabouts is amazing. Minerva steps in and has a bit of a wand fight with Snape. Its completely moving because I expect that Minerva and Snape grew up as teachers together. To see them completely against each other is shocking. Also, Daniel Radcliffe is so strong and lovely in that scene. He stands up to Severus and just tells it like it is. It is so intense.

I cry every time I see the school prepare for battle. It so sad because its so dark and serious. Hogwarts has always been magical and welcoming and to see the students give each other "goodbye" looks just kills me.

HERMIONE AND RON KISS! I am a hug R/Hr shipper. I do wish Rupert moved his big head away so you could actually see more. The angle was a bit disappointing, but I still loved it. It was very romantic and passionate.

Ginny and Harry kill me. They both try to be strong and get on with the battle. One scene she gives him a kiss and says "I know". It's completely sad. It just shows how difficult it is for them.

Luna is amazing! "Harry Potter you listen to me right now!" That's all I have to say. Loved it/her.

There is a large scene where Ron, Harry, and Hermione exit the castle and cut through the courtyad. The battle rages on around them. It is unbelievably UNREAL because its so good. Hogwarts, the home we all grew up in is getting blown to bits and it hurts so much. I found the scene where Fenir Greyback is feeding on Lavender so hard to watch. Lavender is such a quirky, upbeat, character and to see her like that made me realize the seriousness of the battle. I didn't realize the director, producers, etc. were going to take it so far. I was in shock.

Neville, Neville, Neville. The only thing to explain him would be... "Only a true Gryffindor could have pulled that out of the hat." JUST Mind-boggling!

Alan Rickman does give the performance of his life. No one could have gotten through that death scene without weeping. It was completely and horribly gut-wrenching, especially his final words to Harry.

Fred, Tonks, and Remus. They only took a few seconds on their deaths. That was quite disappointing. I wish they showed more with Fred. It was quite like a "glimpse," but still really sad. Rupert and the remaining Phelps twin sobbed so realistically and loud. It was a wonderful, gut-wrenching surprise. Again, it murdered me.

The entire Pensieve scene moved me as well. Daniel Radcliffe does a great job "taking it all in." When he is on his way to the Forbidden Forest, his scene with Emma and Rupert is heartbreaking. Hermione and Ron are so loyal. It so sad because they have to accept their best friend's fate. These are the three kids we grew up watching and now the trio has to end. I am so proud of Emma, Daniel, and Rupert.

Harry's Resurrection Stone scene was another hard one to watch. It really emphasizes Harry's loneliness, growth, and destiny. It is so moving.
Harry and Voldemort's fight scene was brilliant. I am so glad they extended it.

I wish the Neville/snake scene hadn't changed. I also wish he said "I'll join you when hell freezes over!"

Molly/Bellatrix scene was amazing! I didn't like how Bellatrix died though. She looked like a cartoon character. Also, I wish the Ginny/Bellatrix part which causes Molly to step in was bigger. It was too quick.

The trio on the bridge scene was really sad. Its just the three of them taking everything in. I wish Ron played a bigger part though. I really think the movie pushed him to the back too much as Harry's BEST friend.

The epilogue was heart-breaking because THAT is when I finally realized that "it all ends." The crew did a great job making the characters look older. I wish we couldn't caught a glimpse of Neville, Luna, and George, but I guess it's alright. I cried so hard on that last shot and was 100% thrilled to hear the score "Leaving Hogwarts" play in the background. Perfect.

That was a huge spoiler/summary, but I really needed to get it off my chest. Honestly, the movie is completely wonderful. Growing up with this series has been a blessing. I recommend the movie to all, not just to Harry Potter fans.

THESE ARE SPOILERS!!!

It's not so much that he changes sides, but he's much more reluctant to join Voldie's side.

There's a great scene in the Room of Requirement where Harry calls Draco out about not revealing his identity to Bellatrix in Malfoy Manor. He says, "Why didn't you tell her? You knew it was me. You didn't tell her." You can tell by Draco's reaction that he's right.

His parts are few in this one, but the ones that he's in really explain the maturity of his character. I lurff him!!

i thought it was great overall but the snape in the prince's tale should looked a bit more like the current snape and they skipped details like the house elves having to leave the kitchens

Yates's direction has always been rather unspectacular, to say the least. Thanks to his terrible usage of angles, not a SINGLE ONE of Harry and Ginny's kisses looked anywhere near decent. They were shot so terribly they all just looked so awkward. Come to think of it, so did the Horcrux kiss and Ron and Hermione's kiss! Also, he should have taken a page out of Peter Jackson's book when it comes to shooting battle scenes on multiple fronts. I do think DH2 is the top of all 8 films, but I still think Yates was a bland choice to fill in the director's chair.

And would SOMEONE PLEASE SAY WHAT HAPPENED WITH WORMTAIL? Are we supposed to believe Dobby killed him in the first movie?????? Rowling spent a good amount of time answering our questions after the book came out, so can Yates or Kloves let us know what the heck happened to Wormtail, did Lavender die, and how did Fred die? (And since Tonks and Lupin were given the most horrific of treatments in the films with regards to their relationship, could we not have at least gotten to see a death scene? Two of the most interesting and engaging characters in the books were basically turned into cannon fodder for the films.)

One thing I didn't like was how the deaths of characters (Lupin, Tonks, and Fred especially) were skipped over. I understand the directorial reasoning behind it and that the focus was more on extending the Harry and Voldemort fight because really that's what the entire series has led to--Harry taking down Voldemort once and for all. However, it doesn't bother me that Wormtail's death wasn't explained and Lavender was just left on the floor after Greyback bit her. That's what we have the books for, really.

Was anyone else annoyed by the Grey Lady scene??? I did not like how her character was changed from the book AT ALL!!

I've seen the movie twice (and desperately want to keep going to the theater to see it) and it is touching every time. I'm not a big crier, so I actually didn't cry at all...but I did tear up when Hermione hugged Harry just before he went to the forest. And at the end when they played the original theme again.

The movie was, despite its flaws, the perfect end to the film series.

I've only seen it once, so my opinion isn't solid on some of the specifics yet, but the movie overall is beyond amazing!!! There's a great balance of light and serious moments. The sense of nostalgia with all the flashbacks in Snape's memories is almost overwhelming, but in a good way. And so many emotional scenes! From the last part of Snape's memories to Harry using the Resurrection Stone, I was in full waterworks mode. Heck, I nearly teared up when "Lily's Theme" played at the very beginning. The entire score is gorgeous. A scene where the music stood out particularly well was when the Trio runs from Hogwarts to the boathouse. The performances are crazy good; Voldemort has never been more terrifying.

There are so many surreal moments in the movie, maybe too many to list. Can't wait to see them all again!

Goodness, I loved the finale. I started crying from the moment Harry stood up to Snape at Hogwarts, and then all his friends backed him up. Loyalty and love like that gets to me :')

The most heartbreaking scenes for me were when they show Fred, Remus and Tonks dead; Severus' memories with Lily, and when they all thought Harry was dead. Ginny's reaction metaphorically KILLED me.

Neville kicked butt! I'm sure you'll all agree. His speech near the end made me cheer, despite my friends telling me to shut up in the theatre

My favorite part has to be the scene at the end when the Golden Trio is holding hands and standing in front of the ruins. It unites the first book to the seventh book. To me it says that in all of the previous books, everyone fights over petty things because they do not know what they can lose: friends, family, that beautiful Hogwarts castle. In the end, when the castle is in ruins, it really hits everyone that they need to stay united no matter who they are by blood, but what is important is the things they believe in: equality, friendship, love, etc. As Remus Lupin said, "It's the quality of one's convictions that determines success, not the number of followers."
