The Black Lake lies behind the castle and though it may seem like the water is calm on the surface, you will learn that that is not the case underwater. Creatures have made it their home from Merpeople to Grindylows. The most notable is Bartholomew Henry, the Giant Squid. The lake is a beautiful place for you to hang out.
Mr.Kirby has built a dock and has supplied it with some fishing rods. The lures have been charmed to prevent any magical creatures of the lake from getting hooked. The Groundskeeper will not tolerate any use of live bait, and is running a strict CATCH and RELEASE policy. Failure to follow these two rules will result in serious consequences.

However, the touch was gentle and slow, so she remained as she was, even pursing her lips slightly into his touch. It was Sander, obviously.
And then his fingers were in her hair. She sighed as he gently moved through her multi-colored locks. However, suddenly his hand was gone. Her eyes opened and the smallest of frowns played on her lips. Slowly, she turned onto her side once more, looking at him. It was cute how he was hiding his face like that. "That felt nice," she told him, her voice just above a whisper. She reached out and gently ran her fingers through his hair, frowning as a few strands came out with her fingers. She shook them again and did it again.
After a moment, she sighed regretfully. "Yes, I suppose you're right," she said, sitting up with a groan. She laughed as he nudged her and then nudged him back. "Come on, Mr. Celery Stick, we need to focus," she teased, bringing out her supplies. "Which one would you like to start with?"
Sander was startled when not only did Tessa not show her displeasure when he had touched her lips and strokes her hair, she told him that she liked what he had done. Then he gasped when he felt her hand running through his own hair. He began to relax and succumbed to the wondrous feelings.
But then the stroking stopped and he turned to look at her. She was now sitting up. Sander wished he hadn't suggested started on that homework assignment because he'd rather have her continue stroking his hair.
Reciprocating her sigh, he sat up, laughed for minute when she called him by his nickname and then suggested which spell they could try first.
"How about making the rope? What's the incantation again?.... Oh yeah Vinea Funiculus. Is that okay with you," Sander posed his suggestion to Tessa.

Oh Hazel, wherest thou?
Hazel ran over to Marigold. "Hey, Mari. You ready?" she said to her. She sure was ready. She sort of failed these spells in class (only a little bit), but she was sure she could do them now. "The spells are Lignum Navicula and and Vinea Funiculus, right?"

Tessa smiled at Sander, tempted to reach out run her hand through his hair again. And the look in his eyes... it almost seemed like he wanted her to. But now that it was time for business, she had to be focused. No distractions.
She nodded with a grin, and placed her vine in front of her. Before casting the spell, she crossed her legs so that she was in a more comfortable position. She glanced at Sander, shooting him another smile. "At the same time?" she suggested, taking out her wand and getting ready.
She took a moment to get focused, envisioning the vine in her mind. She raised her wand and pointing at the vine, she muttered the spell: "Vinea Funiculus."

Sander sat up when Tessa did. She was all down to business now. While she immediately began to practice changing the vine into a rope. He decided to practice saying the incantation first.
"No you go ahead first. I want to practice saying the incantation," he told her.
"Vinea Funiculus...Vinea Funiculus...Vinea Funiculus...Vinea Fun...Fun....Fun...Funiculus," Sander chuckled to himself, in a momentary lapse of concentration, as he strangely found humor in the word to the incantation.
When he realized his mistake, he quickly looked over hoping that Tessa hadn't heard what he had said and that he hadn't disturbed her concentration. He went back to practicing the incantation. This time with more concentration and determination.
"Vinea Funiculus...Vinea Funiculus....Vinea Funiculus," he practiced over and over again.
"Okay, now I'm ready," Sander told Tessa as he placed the piece of vine on the grass flat in front of him and prepared to cast the spell.

Bart headed to the lake he was on a mission now that Abbi told him that squid was named the same as him. He just wasn't liking the fact that he shared the name with a water creature. This thing better be cool was all he was saying. Moving close to the lake he started looking around. Alright where was he? How did you get said squid out of the water. Maybe fishing for him. He looked around for a fishing pole that would work.
Did they do fishing here? He wasn't sure but got into his bag and grabbed cauldron cakes that he had stashed away. Breaking them up and starting to throw them in he called out, "Here squid.. here squid.. where are you. I want to talk to you." He would come to that wouldn't he. Well Bart thought he should at least.
"BARTHOLOMEW THAT HAS THE SAME NAME AS ME WOULD YOU PLEASE COME OUT!!!" He screamed as loud as he could. He would get this thing out if he had to jump in and find him.

Cosgrach had decided to take another walk on the grounds and explore them all over again. It was an alright day, nothing a few warming up charms couldn't manage, and he felt fine. Happy. Cheerful. He didn't know why, but it felt good.
...until someone screamt.
Why did it always happen around HIM? Why did HE have to deal with stupid problems of brats--
"YOU!" he bellowed, pointing at HIM! "WHY are you screaming, m'child? What is it that this gentle tone cannot solve?"

In other words: Do not spoil my day!
He heard the voice before he saw the person and he cringed. Was there a rule in this school about screaming outside. He was using his outside voice okay! He wasn't inside he didn't have to use inside voices. So why couldn't he scream. He turned ready for the professor to scold him when he saw who it was.
"Hey" He grinned and waved at the top of his cool list. "Hey guess what.. Guess what I used my potion for!!" This was just way to exciting not to tell him right away even if he would find out when he got the homework paper. Did he know Bart didn't do homework and he was doing his. "I played flame tag with it isn't that cool! But.. I did that coughing stuff again." He knew why now, but still annoying when you are playing flame tag.
"I like potions by the way, my other school just didn't like that I did." He figured the man saw his record and wanted to get that out there. Oh and why was he screaming. "I need the squid. He can't hear me if I don't yell." That was an easy explanation.
*Walking down to the lake Romulus had a book in hand and a few packs of prawn flavored crisps in his school bag. Sitting on the shore Rom opened a pack of crisps and started sending a few out onto the lake.*
Anna was out walking trying to find a quiet place to play her guitar and paused seeing a familiar face, "Romulus!" She smiled and went over to him, "Mind if I join you?" She moved a small strand of hair back, waiting for him to answer before she just sat down, not wanting to be rude.
She liked being thought of as Captain Lux, and her smile grew even bigger. "I would wear my cape even off the pitch." It would be so amazing, and she really wanted to be on the Quidditch team; hopefully her dreams would become a reality. Smiling at his question, she playfully punched him on the arm lightly. "You tell me."She was small and light, but she was sure that she could hold her own on the Quidditch pitch if she actually managed to get off of the ground. "Yeah! We are going to be great friends!" ^______^ She was so happy and excited.
"Oh, well... you really think so?" That was awfully nice for him to say that, because it was true that she could do magic where Ariel couldn't. Soo that was totally amazing. "I can be Ariel then! What could you be?" Hmmmm. She became thoughtful as she tried to figure something out.
Reaching into her bag, she pulled out her crappy boat and the vine she had made. "We can make it up to him with hugs later, after we have finished this and seen about the boats floating." That seemed like the best plan for her. "Yep, that is all we have to do, so get yours from your bag, and we can get started!"
Lucas felt a little smug at being able to make her laugh. But it was his own laugh that erupted when she pinched him. "Oi!" he protested and put up his hands in surrender. "Definitely not going to make you mad anytime soon. I promise you all the cucumber sandwiches!" However, the Gryffindor couldn't help but smile shyly at the promise of being friends. "I think so. After all, you're a superhero now," he said, trying to keep from laughing, "I can be your sidekick." And Fidget could be his name because he was really good at that.
But Lucas was a boy and he couldn't help but squirm and nod. "It's, uh, really pretty." It WAS which was why he found the blush creeping up his neck so hard to explain. WHY was he so embarrassed. "Uh.. " and Lucas found himself unable to think of anyone in that movie other than Prince Eric. Prince Eric who Ariel kissed. Yeah. Huh. That was weird. "There weren't many guys in that film," he muttered, quickly to cover his pause. Awkward!
Right. Lucas had actually got the boat spell down. But the vine spell? EEK. Nope. But he ran over to his bag and pulled out the wood he'd spelled back into its original shape with a nifty Reverto the fifth year next to him had used. He glanced over at Lux and then made a quick wish that he wouldn't embarrass himself entirely and then said: "Lignum navicula," to the plank, watching with gentle surprise as it became an identifiable but not exactly serviceable boat. Um.
He laughed, a little nervously and whispered, "Reverto," watching it make a satisfying schwoop sound and turn back into a flat piece of wood. "You try," he offered, trying to keep the attention off him and tried the spell again himself.

Lux started to worry that she had hurt Lucas, concern etched on her face, but he seemed to be okay, so she relaxed again. She had not intended to hurt him. "Very smart of you, Lucas. And you need a nice name. How about The Amazing Lucas?" Because he was pretty amazing in her opinion.
Noticing that he was starting to look awkward and embarrassed, Lux went mellow. What was with this boy? He seemed to have a hard time relaxing. "You okay?" Hopefully he was, but she was still slightly concerned. "Hmmm, true. I think there was a Prince in there, but I don't really remember any other guys." And seeing as the Prince had kissed Ariel, that nickname just would not do.
While waiting for him to get his stuff, Lux had used the Reverto spell she had seen Tessa use in class in order to transform her pieces back into a vine and piece of wood respectively. As Lucas managed to make a decent boat, she applauded him. "Good job! I wasn't very good at that one." She had more or less perfected the vine though. Taking it to be her turn now, she pointed her wand at her wood, and picturing a boat in her mind, muttered the Lignum Navicula spell.
Before her eyes, it transformed into a boat. Not really a pretty one though. "Oh, I am hopeless at this spell."
Well she certainly was surprising him right now. Maybe he needed to rethink the whole what each house stood for thing. It seemed so simple when his family had explained it, but now he was finding that most of the people he had met were more than just the stereotype. Like Emma here.
Oh! She wanted to know? Michael hadn't been expecting that and he felt his face flush a little. It was one thing to practice with Rhodes because she didn't really care, but Emma was a nice girl. "You're too young to know." He teased. He had no idea what else to say because he wasn't sure how she would react. He hadn't figured girls out yet.
Michael glanced at her when she managed to catch up to him. "You realise I am merely jogging here." And she was practically at a full sprint.
"Oh Merlin's pants!" Emma scoffed, giving him a look. He was so full of himself. But funny too, and she liked having someone to have friendly arguments with.
"Too young? You're the same age!" She giggled, sticking her tongue back out. Pfffft. He was so cute when he blushed. Of course, she wasn't going to tell him that.
As she began closing in on him he tossed another snide comment at her. "Merely jogging, eh? Then I guess you'd better start sprinting!" She laughed, pushing herself harder until she was finally striding just a little ahead of him. Now, she just had to pray she could keep it that way.

The Amazing Lucas? What on EARTH was amazing about him? But he grinned. "Uh huh. What would my superpower be?" And maybe he could have a cape too. He managed to actually muster up a laugh despite his embarrassment. "Yeah, uh. I'm awesome." Not blushing or stammering at all. But the Prince Eric business wasn't helping him either. He made a vague noise of agreement and blurted out: "I don't look much like him. Maybe I can be Sebastian." Being the trusty sidekick was kind of cool too. BEAM.
He laughed in surprise at the applause coming from Lux and did a sort of half bow, a little deliriously relieved he'd not screwed it up too much. "..and I'm terrible at the vine. Funiculus is really hard to say," Lucas conceded thoughtfully. "You help me make a vine that doesn't look so wonky and we'll try and make these boats float." And then he had an idea. "We can race them! Maybe Henry will come up and see too!"
But Lux.. wasn't having such good luck. Lucas frowned at it and then glanced over at Lux, "..maybe if you put more.. oomph behind it." He wasn't actually an expert, but speaking clearer always seemed to help. Speaking of which.. "Lignum Naviculus," the Gryffindor said again, mustering a semblance of eloquence. Wah-hey! It didn't look AMAZiNG but that was definitely a boat. Who knew if it would float. Erk.

Lucas seemed to like the name she had come up with, so that was a good thing. "Well, we both need powers, so we can come up with that together!" Honestly, she was not even sure what her's could be because she was not exceptional at anything. Mer. "You are awesome, and you would make a great Sebastian!" The fact that he would be a lobster made things even better, since Ariel did not kiss a lobster and she did not want to have any association to kissing Lucas.
After applauding a little more, Lux bit her lip. "I am sure we can help each other master our spells in no time, and the race idea is brilliant!" Especially if it got the Giant Squid to come out and see them. Giant Squid hugs were still happening.
Doing a quick Reverto on her boat, Lux watched Lucas make another boat, this one not perfect either. Trying to put his advice into use, she pointed her wand at the wood and annunciated clearer while saying the Lignum Naviculus spell.
"I'm hardly ever annoying."Charlotte didn't know why she tended to get sleepy when people played with her hair but she loved it and was starting to think she might like Jun ten times more if he always played with her hair. Or, she thought, she could try and be boring just to get him bored so he could play with her hair. Was that weird? "Not bored." YAWN. "But keep playing with my hair." She smiled a sleepy smile and yawned a tiny yawn.
Common Room. Password. "Right. Uh..." Maybe if she took a nap she'd remember it? "I think it's...that thing...with a b?" YAWN.
Bubble. Button. Ball. Bulldog. "Banana? Or...uh...Baubles?" Ba-something. It was so close but she was just so sleepy now. Did she really have to go to the Common Room?
"Are you sure about that?" Everyone's annoying. No matter what they do. They're annoying to at least someone out there. Jun snorted when Lolli told him to continue. Only girls' hair he played with was Aleks and his mum. But with his mum, he'd mess it all up and runaway before she got the chance to catch him. One day she finally gave up and started doing the same to his. "I'm guessing you like people playing with your a lot?" Maybe even more than a lot. Either way, Jun continued.
Thing with a B? That could be anything in the world. "Wow, that doesn't shorten the list. Is it something from the wizarding world?" Because maybe that'll narrow it just a bit. A tiny bit.

Michael chuckled at the look he was getting and he knew that she was going to call him out on that comment. It's kinda why he said it. "Yeah but I look older." Hehe. Well he was a lot taller than she was so of course that made him look way older. But it seemed that he had successfully steered her away from the question she had asked before.
Oh she was too funny. Mikey let her get ahead of him so he could have a moment of that winning feeling before he put on a burst of speed. And just as he was overtaking her, he gave her hair a small tug, just to rub it in.
He got back to their fishing spot, a couple of seconds before she did and he grinned down at her. "Maybe you should have taken me up on the head start."

"Okay, now I'm ready," Sander told Tessa as he placed the piece of vine on the grass flat in front of him and prepared to cast the spell.
Tessa nodded and turned her focus to the vine. What she didn't tell Sander was that she had been practicing her pronunciation since the lesson, knowing that she would want the spell down for the homework and upcoming classes. SHe wanted it to be easy and comfortable for when it was time to cast the spell. Not to mention, Transfiguration was one of her favorite classes and she typically put more effort into it compared to others.
However, she must not have been concentrating enough, because the vine's transformation was only mostly complete. She frowned at the offending vine, and reverted it back to its original form. "Try number 2," she commented, shooting Sander a small smile. She cast the spell, once more repeating the phrase, and the vine quickly turned into nice steady rope.
Goodness he's taking forever, she thought grumpily as she heard Sander practicing the spell's pronunciation. Some people do need to concentrate... That thought brought her back to her current situation, forgetting completely about her grumpiness.
"Sander, how should we test this rope?" she asked, lifting the former vine-now rope as she looked at the boy.
Lucas seemed to like the name she had come up with, so that was a good thing. "Well, we both need powers, so we can come up with that together!" It was.... better this time.
HERS WOULD BE PRETTINESS. AND NICENESS. AND MAKING HIM NOT NERVOUS-NESS.
Um. "What about being able to read minds?" Cool. SUPER cool. He flushed though at her compliment and grinned. "Well if Captain Lux thinks so.." YEAH. UH HUH. "He also sings really well.." And Lucas would never actually admit this. Ever. But he used to sing in choir as a little kid. So there was also that.
The fact that there was someone there to watch him actually probably improved his performance. Lucas worked really well under pressure especially when there was a chance they'd be disappointed in him. "Cool. Cool, cool, cool." And with that, they got to work.
And.. wow, his advice was actually useful! Lucas beamed and nudged her affectionately, "you did it!" he exclaimed. Now to do this awful vine.
"How did you make yours nice?" he protested, holding up his twisted rather frightening looking twig. "..is it because you know how to braid hair so your skills are transferred?" he teased, helplessly.

Ooooh, being able to read minds would be awesome! "And I would love to be able to shoot lasers!" Because lasers were just amazing, and it meant she could kick some real villain butt! "You are awesome, Sebastian! And do you sing?" She was only asking since he mentioned it, and maybe he was drawing another comparison? It would be really cool if he could sing.
Happily, she laughed when he nudged her. It made her feel good to have done it right and get acknowledgement for that. "The annunciation really helped me!" And somehow it had given her more confidence as well. Huh. "But I'm sure the braiding helps too!" Even though she knew he was kidding, she liked to believe that it was true just because it would be funny if it was.
Reverting her boat back into a log, she proceeded to recast the Lignum Naviculus spell once again while picturing a boat in her head and annunciating as best as possible. "I am sure you can get it too, Lucas!" she encouraged him as she picked up her perfectly formed boat.

Lucas had to agree. Reading minds was way cool but lasers? Awesome. He laughed brightly at the thought. Would Lux ever need to shoot a laser at anyone? Cos that would be kind of scary. "Uh..maybe? I'm not very good." But singing would come later in their friendship. Like five years from now. Or you know, never.
He beamed at her, glad to have helped. She was a wonderful partner. Laughing brightly at her joke he shrugged, "probably that too. You have super secret skills, on the side." After watching her successfully change her wood into a cool little boat he clapped.
"Now we race.." And maybe, he'd get some pointers on the vine thing later. He ran towards the water and placed his boat softly onto the banks.
And would you look at that, it DIDNT sink. How well it moved through the water, was another thing entirely.

Oh. Well... that was a bit of a bummer. "Oh, okay. I was going to ask if I could hear you sing, but it's okay." She smiled at him. If he was not thinking he was very good, she wouldn't ask him to do it for her; it was not as if singing was the most important thing.
"Oh, yeah. Top secret ones you can't know about." Playfully winking at him, she picked up her boat and followed him over to the lake. "Look yours is floating! Kinda!" Yaaay! Following suit, she placed hers on the bank beside his and watched as hers managed to float as well. "We did it!"
Anna was out walking trying to find a quiet place to play her guitar and paused seeing a familiar face, "Romulus!" She smiled and went over to him, "Mind if I join you?" She moved a small strand of hair back, waiting for him to answer before she just sat down, not wanting to be rude.
*Hearing his name his head shot up. Looking around he saw Anna and nodded a yes. Setting his book down he then patted the spot next to him.*
"Sure, have a sit. Care for a crisp?"
*A tentacle came up a few feet from the shore and gave a little slap on the water. Rom smiled and turned to the lake.*
"Don't worry mate, I won't give her yours."
*Pulling out a prawn flavored crisp he sent it flying with the help of his wand to the tentacle.*

"Uh. Best not scare all the animals in the Forest," he muttered with a grim smile.
LIES. But that would be SO embarrassing.
He wasn't allowed to know about her powers? Lucas pouted in mock indignation. "But I'm Sebastian to your Ariel!." And what happened if she got in a fight and he didn't know what she could do, huh? Important information!
He beamed at her and pointed as hers did a remarkably better job at the whole 'boat thing'. He put up both hands for a high five. "Cool. Cool, cool, cool."
Except.. all the boats were doing was gently clinking into each other with the lapping water at their feet.
"Oh. So, uh, Lux, do you know a spell to like.. get them to move?" Huh. He hadn't thought of that.

She smiled and took the seat he offered and politely shook her head to the offer, "No thanks..." She pulled her bag around to pull her own snack out but couldn't fight a small jump as the tentacle came up, "What is that?" Anna looked up at him then back to the strange thing.
She slowly smoothed her hair again though and reached in her bag pulling out a bag of sour gummy worms, "Would you like any?" Annaleecia smiled up at him.

SNORT. Lux had a feeling that Lucas was exaggerating because he did not want to sing for her. He seemed to be such an awkward kid, that it did not surprise her. "Yeah, I wouldn't want you to hurt any animals." She stuck her tongue out at him teasingly. Hopefully he would loosen up some with a friend to joke around and have fun with!
Hmmm... maybe he could know about her super powers. Maybe. "If you give me enough cucumber sandwiches, I might spill it." But otherwise he was out of luck because she was being mean today and wanted her cucumber sandwiches. Hunger was coming upon her and her stomach would probably start grumbling pretty soon.
Watching their boats float peacefully in the water, she was stumped as to how to answer his question. "You know, I suck at spell work." Sigh. "Should we leave the racing for a bit and just work on your rope?" Since he still needed to master it and she had already made a perfect one earlier in class.
Feeling proud of herself, she took her boat back out of the water again. She was done her Transfiguration homework.
