Black Lake

The Black Lake lies behind the castle and though it may seem like the water is calm on the surface, you will learn that that is not the case underwater. Creatures have made it their home from Merpeople to Grindylows. The most notable is Bartholomew Henry, the Giant Squid. The lake is a beautiful place for you to hang out.

Mr.Kirby has built a dock and has supplied it with some fishing rods. The lures have been charmed to prevent any magical creatures of the lake from getting hooked. The Groundskeeper will not tolerate any use of live bait, and is running a strict CATCH and RELEASE policy. Failure to follow these two rules will result in serious consequences.

Be careful of Henry and have fun!

Silver was taking a quite peaceful stroll, trying to get to know the school a little better. Taking a bite of her double-decker peanut butter & jelly sandwich, she smiled at the view I'm front of her.

WOOOOOSH!

The brutal breeze blew the beanie she was wearing on her head, away.

"Oh nooooo!" Silver whined. Stuffing the rest of the sandwich in her mouth, she ran after her beanie. Her thick fluffy curls swayed as she ran.

"Stop that beanie!" She yelled, with her mouth mildly full.

Bay was just walking around the grounds when a Hat started to fly his way. He heard someone yell and noticed it was Silver. Jumping up he caught the Hat. "Silver.." he said while jogging his way over to her. "I believe this is yours?" holding it out for her to take.

The Black Lake was the place Beverly was dying to see first. Swimming is like, her thing. Reaching the shore she stomped on a bit of water. The climate didn't look very inviting for a swim and the wind was starting to pick up. It deflated her hopes to have a little swim. But she wasn't as stupid as to go in there when it was freezing.

Instead, she settled for just watching the small waves uncurl into the shore. Her already messy braid was getting messier as the wind picked up, but in her jeans, jacket and boots she felt pretty darn good. Grandmother wasn't here to freak out about the rips in her jeans or the "un-lady-like" outfit.

It wasn't as if she was trying to look pretty.

Bev had just about decided on settling under a tree and just take in the scenery when something hit her face. Immediate thought: SOMEONE IS TRYING TO SUFFOCATE ME! When she grabbed the piece of fabric off her face she realized it was a beanie.

It has ears! :3

Looking around for the culprit she spotted a girl with bushy hair running in her direction.

Silver heard her name. It was Bay! She stopped as soon as he was coming down in her direction. Heaving and taking deep breaths, trying to catch her own breath.

"Th-..." She panted "Thanks!" Silver beamed and her eyes lit up, seeing her beanie had been rescued!

"Wow Bay! You were like SUPERMAN!" Silver grinned taking her back and putting it back on her hair.



Not only did Silver witness Bay run after her beanie, but she also witnessed her favorite beanie slap and nearly suffocate another young girl.

Feeling bad for that incident she turned to the innocent bystander, "sorry! My badness." Silver bit her bottom lip in guilt and waved at the young girl. "Your face is awesome for not letting my beanie go any further." Silver looked on the bright side.

It wasn't like Asher had never seen the black lake before. He's been there plenty of times. By the look on his face you would think that he had never seen a lake any lake at all. Memories of the lake made him happy, most of them. The seventh year blinked, yeah he would hate for his eyes to freeze like that forever. Imagine having a conversation why someone and all you did was stare at all.

Besides those girls over there, he was pretty sure that they could tell that he was staring at the lake, that was weird. Who did that?

All of this time he had been standing up. He could have already sat down or gotten into the lake. The last one, that wasn't happening, He didn't have his swimsuit on

Well...wasn't this embarrassing. Right after a beanie hit her face two students appeared. One of them being the big-haired girl. And another a boy.

Maybe it would have been amusing the way the girl described Bev's "heroic" act with her face if she hadn't felt so embarrassed by it. Who got hit on the face by a flying beanie WITH EARS? Ridiculous.

Bev stuffed her hands in her jacket pockets. "My face says you're welcome." She hadn't meant it to come out sarcastic, but...it did.

Suddenly she didn't want to spend time at the lake. She nodded politely at both the boy and the girl and headed up the grounds. The library sound like a nice place to go to.

It wasn't the coolest or most fun of tasks, but Mo was still out walking along the lake plotting a running route for his soon-to-be Quidditch team. He ran every day, and the shore of the Black Lake was one of his favorite routes. For now, though, he was merely walking, pacing out a path along the shore and occasionally tossing stones in the water.

When he ran into an unfamiliar older boy staring out at the lake like he could see to the other side, Mo paused and turned to look out in the same direction. What was out there, hmm? Anything good?

"I've tried this before. You can't make the squid come just by wanting him. Nor mermaids. I think I almost got a kelpie once, but it's possible it was just a really big bullfrog playing a joke on me." So. That's how Mo introduced himself to people. Also... "I'm Mo."

Silver looked past the sarcasm and showed her appreciation. "Thanks again!" she added.

There was something about this girl that Silver wanted to dig into. Like a riddle waiting to be solved.

"Bye!" Silver waved at the unknown female, as she watched her leave.

Bay laughed at Silvers comment. "Oh.. not at all..Quidditch reflexes you know" giving her a wink. "So what are you doing out here?" he asked her



Bay felt really bad that he didn't catch the hat in time.. he didn't even see it hit her face thats how fast it was flying. "hope your okay" he said as he watched her walk away.

Asher was still a little freaked out by the thought of consent staring for the rest of his life. Now he didn't even remember what or why he was staring in the first place. Now there were way more people around. He would have to really cut out the weirdness.

Oh, someone had spotted him.
"Oh the squid. I almost forgot about Bart. I think I seen a tentacle come out of the water once my first year. I dunno though." He replied. Although it could have been being a wishful ickle firstie. "Romalotti..... Asher." He put out his hand. So that guy was Mo. He heard of him from friends. Yep. Cool.

Silver giggled and fluffed her massive hair.

Quidditch! rawwwr.

"Quidditch? Wow you just keep getting cooler and cooler." Silver wiggled her brows and giggled. "Are you gonna try out for the lions?" She kindly asked.

Now that he mentioned why she was at the lake, Silver remembered that she no longer had her peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

"I came to check out the view and was eating a PB&J sandwich...but it's gone now--I ate it." Silver really loved that sandwich, it was gone too soon all because of her beanie. "What about you?" She asked Bay, slightly tilting her head to the side.

He was cool.

Bay laughed even harder, him cool… not a chance but he loved that she said he was cool "Thanks Silver, your pretty cool yourself"

"Ohh PB&J that sounds yummy" even though it did sound yummy every time he heard the word sandwich he just thought cucumber sandwich. He held back a shudder. "Oh I'm just going for a walk to explore the school" he said while spotting another person.



"CUCUMBER!!!" he yelled as he spotted Lux.. man great minds thought alike. "come on over here and meet Silver.." he looked at Silver and said "Have you met Cuc-- i mean Lux before?"

And Silver!
 

Startled out of her thoughts when she heard her nickname being called out loudly, Lux looked around her until she spotted Bay. A grin formed on her face, and she quickly made her way over to him and the girl he was talking to.

"Hey!" she said happily as soon as she had reached them. "Nice to meet you, Silver." She turned her smile towards the girl now.

*Walking down to the lake he found a large boulder by the lake he could sit on. Pulling out a pack of crisps he opened them and using his wand he charmed a few a feet out into the lake. A long tentacle came up and pulled them under water. Rom smiled and went back to his book on muggle farming. Every few minutes he would chuck a few crisps into the lake and they would soon be dragged under water.*

Mo took the boy's hand, giving it a firm shake before releasing it. Was his name Asher Romalotti or Romalotti Asher? And did he go by Ash, because Mo would like to call him Ash?

"Mr. Henry. I saw him during that Astronomy lesson last term, when we were shooting each other out of the sky. I guess he was saving people out of the water, although... he did a rubbish job of it." Since Alice had almost drowned and everything. Mo's fault.

"I'd like to ride him around the lake, but I bet he'd hate that."

Speaking of food. Caterina had stashed all sorts of tasty fruits in her bag and had been snacking on them all day long. It was a rare sight to catch her without food, however, so she was sure that no one was surprised by her constant snacking.

Spotting Delilah, Cat walked up and sat down next to the girl, offering a bag to her, "Apple?" What else did she have? "Orange or pear slice? Grape? Strawberry? Watermelon? Anything?"

Silver smiled, not to brag but she liked Bay's honesty.

This guy seemed real serene, it definitely suited him well.

"It's a really nice day for exploring!" She beamed.

Silver got a little distracted when Bay called someone else.

Oooh new people.

"Nope I've never met her before, 'til now." Silver smiled.



Silver kept smiling. She's never met this girl in her life! But she really enjoyed being social.

"Nice to meet you too, Lux." Silver nicely replied.

She kept repeating Lux's name in her head, in order to memorize it. Unique names were difficult for Silver to remember.



Playing wit her hair she witnessed some boy, fearlessly "feed" and underwater creature. Amazed by what he was doing she coyly tugged at her curls to keep on witnessing the creature.

"Caterina." Delilah beamed as the older girl sat down next to her. But before she could say anything else... "Uhh.." What did she want? "I'll have a few grapes." She loved apples the most but she ate them a little too often. Something different, for a change.

"Do you walk around with food all the time?" Not that it was a bad thing. Delilah looooved to eat.

*Once he had fed the squid one bag of crisps he pulled out another. Setting his book aside he opened the next bag and ate one. A small bit of tentacle came up and waved at Rom asking for more.*
"Hmmm it was a long summer for you too huh? You won't like these mate. It's smoky bacon, you didn't like them last time."
*Using his wand he got the crisp to the tentacle. The crisp was pulled under water but soon came back up and a soggy crisp shot out of the water and hit him in the face. Removing it from his face he just shook his head and smiled.*
"Told you..."
*Pulling out a prawn flavored pack he sent a few crisps out onto the lake. They were quickly pulled under water.*

"Delilah." Cat offered the bag of grapes for Delilah to hold on to. "Grapes are my favorite. I like all things grape flavor. I should make grape flavor cupcakes." Huh. Why hadn't she thought of that before? Cat tilted her head, "Do you think those would be good? I'll try them on my taste tester."

She talked a lot, huh?

"I pretty much do, actually. I rarely don't have something with me." She nudged Delilah and dug through the bag of strawberries, "So, how do you like Hogwarts so far?"

"Thank you!" Delilah popped a grape into mouth and crunched on it. It was so gooood. YUM. Grape flavoured cupcakes? The blonde thought about it for a second before giving a small shrug of the shoulders. "Not sure but they should taste good, yeah?" She popped another grape into her mouth and swallowed it before looking at Cat curiously. "Do you cook a lot?"

"That's so convenient." Delilah said, with a laugh. How did she like Hogwarts? She turned to look at the lake. "I love it. I mean, what's not to like about this school?" Nothing.
