Default Black Lake

The Black Lake lies behind the castle and though it may seem like the water is calm on the surface, you will learn that that is not the case underwater. Creatures have made it their home from Merpeople to Grindylows. The most notable is Bartholomew Henry, the Giant Squid. The lake is a beautiful place for you to hang out.

Mr.Kirby has built a dock and has supplied it with some fishing rods. The lures have been charmed to prevent any magical creatures of the lake from getting hooked. The Groundskeeper will not tolerate any use of live bait, and is running a strict CATCH and RELEASE policy. Failure to follow these two rules will result in serious consequences.

Be careful of Henry and have fun!

She didn't push further- she figured the ideas would be quite mischievous.

"Alright, I already have an idea," she said, and walked over to one of the nearer trees. Instead of trying to swing over the lake, and risk getting wet, she was just going to swing. She cast a spell that lengthened the rope/vine and then tossed one end up and over a sturdy looking branch. Once it had dropped down, she took the two ends and made a large knot. With a grin, she grabbed the rope and hopped up- her feet on the knot and her hands holding the rope. Using her body's momentum she swung. "Sander, you have to try this!" she called out, partially forgetting that this was for homework. At least the rope had passed its test.

Soon, she hopped off and, after cleaning up the vine, she knew it was time to work on the wood. "Lignum Navicula," she murmured the spell name over and over as she approached the wood. She was ready.
[

Sander had just completed practicing the incantation to changing his piece of wood into a boat. He was now prepared to cast the spell. He stared down at the piece of wood lying on the grass, and pictured it changing into a small boat. Sander even knew what the boat would look like because he had the image of the boat in his mind. Keeping all thoughts away except for that one image in his mind, Sander picked up his wand, tapped the wood with his wand and just as he was about to say the incantation, "Lignum Navicula" he heard Tessa calling out to him and the image in his mind dissolved.

He turned to hear her ask him to come and try out the strength of the rope which she had just transfigured from a vine. She had it draped over a branch and she was swinging on it. He looked up and laughed at her, "If I do that, I'm more likely to break that branch, but what the heck I'll give it a try after we're done with the assignment," Sander called out to her.

'Now can you stop interrupting me all the time? I do need to concentrate here you know,' Sander grumpily thought to himself as he looked at Tessa but then he heard her laugh and instantly his grumpiness disappeared.

Turning his attention back to the piece of wood, Sander resumed his concentration again. Like before, he blocked out all sounds and cleared his mind of all thoughts except the image of the boat. He pictured the piece of wood changing into that boat.

Keeping that image solely in his mind, Sander picked up his wand, tapped the piece of wood and said the incantations to the spell, "Lignum Navila" and watched as the piece of wood, began to change form. Its edges began to curve and its middle began to hollow out....and soon lying on the grass in front of Sander was a small wooden boat.

"I did it, Tessa. It took a lot longer than expected but I managed to transfigure the piece of wood into a boat,' he called out Tessa, excited that despite the initial distraction and interruption, he managed to cast the spell successfully.

Tessa hopped off the rope swing, intending to give Sander a chance... but he wanted to finish his task first. "Work work work," she murmured to herself grumpily, as she walked back toward where her things were. Why does it always have to be work? Can't you just have some fun for once? However, she pushed those negative thoughts aside and practiced the spell aloud.

"Lignum Navicula," she murmured, pulling out her wand. She took a deep breath, getting rid of all other thoughts and focusing on how the boat would look after the spell had been cast. THat image firmly in her mind, she reached out with her wand and firmly tapped the wood while saying the spell: "Lignum Navicula!" It snapped into the shape of a boat instantly, and she couldn't help but grin.

She looked over at Sander as she heard his words. "Congratulations, Sander!" she said, bringing her boat over to where he was. "May I see?" she asked, cradling her boat in her arms. She couldn't wait to put them in the lake. "Do you think we're ready to take them to the water? Or would you like to practice again?" she asked, looking down at her boat. She was feeling pretty confident, but a little practice never hurt.

Sander grinned back at Tessa, "Hey congratulations yourself. Here's what I made, " he held up the boat to show Tessa. When he looked at Tessa's, his eyes opened wide in surprise.

"That is really a nice looking boat. Now I'm embarrassed that I showed you mine. Yours looks more likely to float than mine will. Do you mind if I have another go at making mine? Right now my boat looks a little girly. I want a nice masculine boat." he quickly hid his boat under his arm. "I'll be right back, " he told her and quickly turned around.

He placed the boat on the grass, tapped it with his wand and reverted it back into a piece of wood. Then he first picked out an image in his mind. An image of a more masculine looking boat. One that a Norse viking would be proud to be sailing in. He sorted through the images in his mind until he settled on one.

Smiling to himself, he held that image in his mind. He studied every curve, every angle of the design. He closed his eyes, his face scrunched up, deep in concentration, his brow furrowed. When he had every detail of that boat clearly in his mind, Sander opened his eyes, tapped the piece of wood with his wand and said, "Lignum Navicula!" loudly and with determination.

He watched with abated breath as the piece of wood, curled, and bowed and deepened in the middle until it formed the shape of the boat he had envisioned in his mind.

"Yes this one looks more sea worthy." Sander got to his feet before picking up his boat and showing it to Tessa. "I know we can place our boats on the water and see whether they sink or not, but why don't we test in a more interesting way? Any suggestions?" Sander asked Tessa. She was the creative one. He knew that she would come up with an enjoyable way to test out the sturdiness of their boats.

The Slytherin boy's buggy eyes scanned out against the lake banks. Was it possible that his buttock-prints were still present even after all this time? Would he recognize them even if they were? They had probably been washed away.

Cutty carried along the chunk of wood from class and the short strap of vine Professor Bellaire had given them to practice on. He was a bit over-bundled, seemingly too sensitive to the cold and his wand was clutched in his palm. He found a smooth and very large rock on which to sit as he waited for his Hufflepuff...friend. His little mind was burning. A whir of what-if's and how, but curiously and uncharacteristic for CUtty Mordaunt, he did not ask himself why.

Marigold grinned as Hazel joined her. She smiled encouragingly, bringing her wand out. "Do you wanna practice wand movements first?" she asked. Deciding on a yes, she practiced the wand movements for Lignum Navicula first. She muttered the incantations a few times as well.

Now for the actual trying.

All wrapped up (school robes were unnecessary during times when they weren't required, and the novelty had died off long ago) in a warm winter jacket over the rest of his Hogwarts uniform, Tobias found himself working his way down to the Black Lake. In his mind, it made a lot more sense to do this homework inside, and in the warm, and test the boats in a bathroom sink.

But he was here now.

"Hey Cutty," the Hufflepuff called out when he was still about 20 feet away. The boy closed the distance, walked behind Cutty to get past him, and then perched on the large rock also. "Nice day for it," he said in a way that was so deadpan, even he didn't know whether or not he was joking.

Toby squinted out over the water and then up at the castle as he flipped the ends of his scarf over his shoulder and out of the way. The fourteen year old brought out the hunk of wood and piece of vine from his big jacket pockets with some difficulty. "Shall we get started?" he asked his friend, balancing those items on his knee whilst he withdrew his wand from his inside jacket pocket.

She gave Beverly a reassuring smile when it didn't work. She bit her lip, musing over her question. "We can try it." They had practiced it out of water before hadn't they?

Addi bent down and plucked the wood out of the water. She pointed her wand at the wood once more. "Lignum Navicula." She tapped it...and voilα. A boat. The transfiguration didn't last for long, but at least she did. "You try now." You know, since it was a hunk of wood again.
Following Adelaide, Bev paid close attention to what the older girl was doing, and how she did it. She seemed at total ease with herself, and Bev felt a twinge of jealousy of that. If she were that sure of herself then...then she wouldn't feel anxious so often. But that was a matter for self reflecting, for later.

Oh, look! A boat!

Bev almost bounced. "You did it!" she exclaimed in awe. She took the piece of wood and set it on the ground. Briefly pausing, she looked up at Adelaide. "How do you concentrate so effortlessly?" She was curious about that, and she didn't have anyone to ask here.

While she waited for a respond, Beverly tapped her wand on the wood, and said, "Lignum Navicula!" She tried to mimic Adelaide's focus. Think about the boat, just the boat. If she could, her eyes would bore holes into the wood from how intense she was focusing on it.

The wood twitched, spun and then expanded so that it looked like it had been flattened by a rolling pin. The edges curved upward, then connected, making a bowl shaped boat. Again. But a boat nonetheless. Beverly let out a squeak of excitement, gazing up at the older girl.

Did she SEE THAT?

"You can swim right?"

Emma watched, her mouth wide as he quickly surpassed her. "Hey! No fair! Hair pulling interference!" She chided him, panting for breath as she sat down on the dock.

"Nah, this just means we'll have to have a re-match some other day..." She grinned, taking her hair out of it's tight bun, smiling even wider as she watched it unfurl and cascade down her back. Oh yes. Hair freedom.

Now, it was time for some serious fishing. "Ready, lion boy?"

He gave her a mock wounded look. "Are you saying that I am not mature?" He even ran his hands over his face. He had a baby face?

Michael burst out laughing at the look on her face and the indignation in her voice. Hair pulling interference? "Hey I have my pride you know." He couldn't be seen being beaten by a girl. A small girl at that.

He watched with fascination as she let her hair loose and he had this strange urge to run his fingers over it so he could see what it felt like. Realising a moment later that he was staring, Michael turned his face away and it was probably a lucky thing too because there was a sign on the railing that he hadn't seen before.

"Well I was until I read that." He jerked his head in the direction of the sign. "Apparently we can't use live bait."

And they had to let the fish go! He had been planning on heading to the kitchen if he had caught one and was going to cook it.

She shrugged. If there was anything Dora was better at than using her wand, it was making a potion. More than half a lifetime of practice can do that. "No, I have a wand if I need water, but throwing you in is an idea." More fun than just putting out the fire. She sat down beside him, even if she preferred to be closer to the water than this, and pulled out a small purple pouch. "Want to try out your potion first then?"
Terry couldn't help but smirk at Dora's recollection of how much mess he did make when he was cooking. Who needed to be organised if the results came out amazing? Exactly. "Just because you get covered in flour doesn't mean that my cakes don't taste phenomenal" he chuckled smugly. As long as all the ingredients were in there and it was mixed properly, everything was fine. Right? "Just trust me" he smiled. Surely it wasn't too hard for her to do.

Oh no. She wasn't throwing him in! Terry didn't want to get wet, he was wearing his favourite jeans. "That's not going to happen" he warned her, taking a step further away from the waters edge. Yeah, this was a safe enough distance, he hoped. And surely she wouldn't have the strength to push him in anyway? Everything would work out perfectly fine, nothing to worry about.

He shrugged and nodded at her suggestion of him going first. "Yeah okay" he spoke, reaching into his backpack and pulling out the vial which contained his freshly brewed potion. He unscrewed the top, inspecting the contents briefly before tipping it into his mouth. Eurgh. Well that wasn't the best tasting potion he'd ever tried. The Slytherin pulled a face as the liquid swoshed around his mouth. He wasn't supposed to swallow, right?

What was next?

Wow this professor really did get him, yep so maybe he'd inform him on what really went down at his old school.. maybe. He nodded and looked out at the lake. "It was good I loved it there, but some of the professors had it out for me. They didn't like my visions." That's what his mum called them at least. "The last straw was my vision to make the firework potion bigger and louder." He was still trying to figure that one out.

"Professor what do you think of experimental potions in your lab?" Were they allowed because he had a few he wanted to try if that was a possibility plus the one for him and Luc that needed done before next summer.

A BUBBLEHEAD CHARM INTO THE LAKE!! These were words that excited the boy even more and his eyes widen. "But I have supervision right here. You could be my supervision, you could do the charm for me so it works and you could even go. Let's go find the squid sir. Pllllllleeeeeaase!!" It really wasn't often he knew the word please but he wanted to find this squid and like now. Plus going into the lake mermaids and other creatures how cool would that be.
Flamsteed... eh, Cosgrach didn't know what to think about the man, but Kevin? The Gryffindor one? He laughed, though it could as well be a bitter laugh. He didn't even want to be in the same sentence with that disrespectful boy.

"It's a cool idea," he said, "and good luck playing, but it's not for me." This discussion was over.

..."HAHAHahaHA!" Cosgrach roared into laughter--a genuine one, this time! The professors didn't like his vision? How he tried to make that bigger? MERLIN, this was great! It also explained how he liked Bart whereas he disliked Kevin--both were pretty adventurous, but Bart knew HOW to do it.

"I'm glad you came here, son," he said after he could control the urge to laugh. "I'm sure you will enhance that vision here." That just meant the boy needed an EXTRA pair of eyes on him not to manage too much mischief, but Cosgrach was up for it if he made him laugh--in a good way. "I think I might consider it," he said--not this or the next year, but maybe the year after that... he was usually terribly cautious when it came to his equipment, but under correct supervision and direction... maybe they could survive such a class. Yeah, he wasn't completely ruling it out.

Oh? "No." THIS discussion was OVER too. He wasn't getting there under ANY condition, and he wasn't letting any student in there too.

"But maybe the CoMC professor--" whatwashisname, "would be more helpful. Do a class on the squid, how he came to live here and stuff."

Just saying. HE was curious too.

He'd get started with the rope because that was easier for him. Hannah could help him with the boat when she got there. If she wanted to. He was unsure if they were even friends.

The second year was about to start his practice when loud croaking emitted from the depths of one of his pockets. Gus! Right! He hastily revived the toad and held him up to eye level. "Meanie Queen will be here soon. Stay out of her way, okay? We don't want her to stomp on you. And above all, don't try to kiss her again.'' Grinning, Adi set the toad on the sand and watched him hop in the opposite direction.

He focused on the vine and pictured the rope he had transfigured in class. "Vinea Funiculus!" He pointed his wand and stared in shock. It had actually worked? On his first try? Oh this was awesome! He examined the rope. There seemed to be no flaws what so ever. It looked quite sturdy and exactly as the one from class. The bright yellow colour and all. Excellent!
Merlin's beard it took her ten years to walk down to the lake. Hannah was starting to think that it was more to it than just being tired. It was as if she could hardly move. She felt old, and that was crazy considering she was only seventeen years old. She was in her prime right now, and this mess just was not going to cut it. The seventh year had also been in a foul mood, but that wasn't really out of the ordinary so she had paid much mind to that. Finally reaching the lake, Hannah spotted Adi. "I don't why it took me so long to get here. It's like my body doesn't want to work." That was making her even more annoyed than usual too. She wondered for a moment if Gus was with him, but decided she wouldn't bring that up unless necessary.

So, he had already gotten down to work, and that was good because Hannah wanted to get this done as quickly as possible. "I'm going to go ahead and start on the vines too. That way we can do the boat part together." They were supposed to work in groups and this way they could get the easiest part of out the way and could work together for the boat. Hopefully by doing this it would eliminate a long drawn out process.

Getting everything together Hannah slowly gathered the wood and vines and got right down to business. Sure, it was probably dumb to recite the spell again, but she didn't want to mess anything up and slow the process down so no shame she played with the word. Vinea Funiculus. "Vin-ea Fun-i-culus." Maybe she was just thinking about it too much but Hannah was pretty sure that even her tongue didn't want to work. "Vinea Funiculus." She was ready!

Hannah pointed her wand at the vine and did a quick tap. "Vinea Funiculus." and she watched as the vine turned into a perfect rope. She was glad that Hannah had managed to get it right on the first time. It would have been a bit embarrassing to not get in right in front of Adi especially when it seemed like he had managed to do it correctly on his first try.

Woo hoo! Adi was so pleased with himself about getting this spell right on his first try. Tessa was right. All he had to do was keep practicing. Grinning from ear to ear, he scanned the direction of the Castle for any signs of Hannah. Oh! There she was! It was her, right? She was walking so ridiculously slow... But as she got closer, he confirmed it was indeed her. What was up with her? "Hi,'' Adi said cautiously. She seemed to be in a foul mood. Some things never change. What was this? Her body didn't seem to want to work? As in she was feeling sluggish? He stared. He had been feeling the same way a couple of days ago and the only reason he skipped over to the Lake today was to convince himself there was nothing wrong with him. "Erm I'm sure you'll feel better.'' He wasn't going to be the one worrying her.

Time to focus on the homework. "Yes, good idea. I might need help with the boat. That spell is harder for me.'' She would help him? Pretty please? He was alarmed to see how slowly she worked on retrieving her wood and vine. He hadn't been that slow but would he get to that amount of slowness? Oh noooo. He couldn't stand the thought of it.

Shooing the depressing thought from his head, Adi watched Hannah give the spell a go. And just like him, the vine transfigured to rope on the first try! "Well done, Hannah!'' Was she up for a high five? He positioned his hand, wondering how long it would take for her to high five him.

"So, we should work on the other spell now.'' Adi placed his rope aside and pulled the wood towards him. "Lignum Navicula!" Tap! Not a budge of change. "Lignum Navicula!" Another smart tap of the wand. Still nothing. "See?'' he said to Hannah. "This spell is difficult.'' Yep. Let's blame it on the spell. "You try now. Have you got any tips for making the spell work?'' He'd take any advice now.

This was different. They were actually being decent to one another. She was sure that she would never here Adi give her any words of comfort. It was kinf of nice even if it didn't improve her mood much. "I hope so. This is crazy." Maybe she should stop in and see the healer? No, nothing was wrong. Maybe she just had a cold or something that was making her feel down? Yup, that was it! That was her story and she was sticking to it. "Of course. We will figure it out together." Hannah has never been the most helpful of people, but she wanted to get this done so she could get back to her common room and take a nap. Hopefully when she woke up she would feel better. "Thanks!" and she actually managed a smile. Oh, a high five. Hannah slowly lifted her arm and made contact with Adi's hand after what felt like 5 minutes. Did he notice? Of course he would, who wouldn't be able to tell that she couldn't even preform a speedy high five?

The seventh year watched as Adi attempted the spell without having any effect at all on it. Well that was unfortunate, but not the end of the world. Hannah Lockwood was his partner and they were going to make the best boat that anybody had ever seen. "Practice and concentration is key." Really, there wasn't much else to say. "Let me try." She tried to concentrate even though she couldn't help but to keep thinking about what could be going on with her body. "Lignum Navicula!" and nothing! Hannah was annoyed, really annoyed. She didn't ever have problems like this. She kicked the wood almost as if it happened in slow motion which made it that more awkward. "Sorry." She cleared her throat and tried to concentrate on the task at hand. "Lignum Navicula!" There we go! That was the results that she was looking for! "Wanna try for yourself?" She didn't think it would really help Adi if she didn't let him get the hang of the spell himself. "Reverto!" Now he had a clean slate to work with.

Should he tell her he was having the same symptoms of this...ailment or whatever it was? Maybe they could figure out what it was but then as he thought of it, what ailment would the symptoms add up to? All he could think about was aging. But that wasn't possible. He was only twelve! No, this was some weird temporary thing. It would pass. He grinned at Hannah as she said thanks. Wow! That was weird hearing something nice from her. His grin flickered, however when Hannah's hand took forever to meet his. She definitely had this thing worse than he did.

Adi watched Hannah give the next spell a shot. And she got it on the first try! "Oh, that is so cool! Way to go!'' He grinned, contemplating on another high five but then decided to spare his friend?acquaintance the pain of slow movements. "Alright. I'm practicing so I'll just boost my concentration then.'' He focused on the wood and in his mind, he pictured the boat much like the one he had transfigured in class. "Lignum Navicula!" Tap and concentrate! Nothing. "Lignum Navicula!" Tap and concentrate again. Woah! The wood sprang into a perfect boat. But that lasted for about two seconds before it sprang back into a piece of wood again. Adi stared over at Hannah, his eyes wide with wonder. "That's never happened before,'' he said. He found it totally cool! One second there was wood, another second a bout and two seconds later wood again. Heh. "I'll give that another shot in a few. You try again.''

Hannah couldn't help but to feel a little proud of Adi as she watched him better himself with each passing try. Her protective side always seemed to come out when it came to him, and she was actually okay with this for the most part. "Look at you." she said with as much enthusiasm as she could muster. "Errr... I've never seen that happen either, but you made a boat so that is progress." That was something rather then getting no results at all.

So it was her turn again and she wanted to keep making progress so she once again tried to concentrate on making a big beautiful boat. She raised her arm wand and pointed it at the wood. CRACK! "Owww." The seventh year stopped and massaged her arm. Her elbow is in so much pain. She tried to bend it and it didn't seem to be broke or anything. It however was really sore. Giving this another shot she once again pointed her wand and she couldn't help but to wince because of the pain, but she was not going to let that fail her. "Lignum Navicula!" and the wood twitched and that was all. Ugh! This was so frustrating. How was she going to concentrate when she was completely falling apart?

Pushing the pain to the back of her mind, Hannah tried for the third time to make something happen. "Lignum Navicula!" and poof! There stood a beautiful boat, even bigger than the first time she had done it. "Ready to give it another go? I am sure that you will get it right the next time." She had faith in him.

Adi felt pleased. Not about his momentary success with the boat but with Hannah encouraging him. Wow! He could never imagined one day he and the girl he dislike so much would be working on homework together and she would be giving him advice and encouraging him. He nodded at her statement. "Yep. It's definitely better than staring at just this piece of wood.''

What in the world was that loud crack? Once again, Adi was alarmed for Hannah. "What just happened?'' he asked. It had to be the elbow she was massaging. "What's wrong with your elbow? Is it gonna be okay?'' Her next action seemed to have answered that last question for Hannah was back in action. That's when he heard a croak near his feet. Looking down he saw Gus. Adi's eyes widened. Oh no! If Hannah saw his toad, there was no telling what she would do.

Fortunately, she had success with her boat. Hoping to further distract her, the Hufflepuff said, ''Awesome job!'' He hastily raised his wand, hoping Gus would hop away. "Lignum Navicula!'' Tap! Nothing. He pushed images of a squashed Gus out of his mind and pictured his boat from class. "Lignum Navicula!'' Tap! A boat sprang up in front of him. "Looook! I did it! Just as you said!'' Maybe Hannah should tell him that before he tried any spell.

Grinning, he suggested, ''Should we try it again? Just to be sure we've got the hang of it?''

The sun was shining as Ella spread out a blanket by the lake, the breeze blowing her hair gently off of her shoulders. The autumn air was a bit chilly but Ella was going to take advantage of being outside as much as she could before winter creeped its way onto the grounds. And why not multitask while she was enjoying fresh air, yeah?

After flopping down on the blanket, the eighteen year old pulled her bag over and rifled through, removing the small wooden block and vine she'd been using in Transfiguration. Bellaire wanted them to master the spells they'd used in class and Ella was determined to not only have a sturdy boat, but a sturdy rope as well.

Now if she could just find the gummy worms she'd brought along for a snack...

Herbology. Good riddance! She wasn't taking that anymore. Anyway, back to the kid who was nibbling on the chocolate frog so cute-like. And which Lex seemed to not notice. Though to the Gryffindor's credit she gave him others. Maybe that was her way of saying that it was cute keep doing it. And maybe probably not.

Use him? Did she say.

"You mean he's gonna help us," Cassia grinned some more at the kid mostly to tease Lex. The snake liked kids alright and found them cute that until they got annoying and did something that affected her negatively. As long as they amused her and entertained her she was okay. And so far, the kid was cute and ... on a rock. Cassia casually stepped up to the kid and made sure the rock was stable. Let's not injure the kid and have to go to the healer who so happened to be HER head of house.

But the rock was stable and good, the kid should be ok, the sixth-year decided. Unless the kid like flailed or moved a lot. Which what kids probably do. Should they freeze him or something? Naah, how'd that make them look like.

Oh, Lex had already started without her. Might as well she did.

Following suite, Cassia placed the wood on the ground then pulled out her wand. ""You know, I kind have hoped the boats would be bigger enough for us to fit in....Lignum Navicula," ...Yeah, she probably should have focused and not said the incantation like that while she was expressing her thoughts.

Lex watched the wood stretch and contort until it had taken on the shape of a small boat, the way it did in class just earlier that week. Good to know she still had it. The Professor believed in practising until perfection was achieved, that was done in class...or well...she was almost sure it was. There was still the testing to be done. The Fifth Year glanced over at the little boy sitting on the rock and Cassia testing it to make sure it was sturdy...something she would have never thought to do. Ickle!Bellaire would help with the testing when that time came.

"Reverto!" She cast, returning her wood to its original state before looking to Cassia again, this time giving her a nod. "Yup. We're gonna put him in our boats and hope they float." Simple enough. "Sounds fun, riiiight?" She said, grinning widely at the little boy. This was probably the part where she was meant to mention that she took no responsibility for him in the event something bad happened. He wasn't a Gryffindor and it wasn't her fault Bellaire didn't have him on a tighter leash.

Lex circled the wood, trying to think of a better boat design. "It would have been epic, then we would have been able to go looking for the Giant Squid. I met him once." Waaaay back in her Third Year.

Ah hah! She knew just what she wanted this time. "Lignum Navicula!"

"Totally." She couldn't agree more and mostly she just wanted to keep working/talking to help distract her from the pain. She did not need to worry about what was going on with her body just now. Hannah would figure that out once she was finished with this homework assignment.

"I wish I knew what just happened." She was falling apart!!! That was what was going on. She didn't to be all dramatic or share any vulnerability with Adi so she tried to make it seem like it wasn't that big of a deal when in reality she was freaking out about this whole mess. "It just hurts. It keeps wanting to crack and pop for some reason." Hannah tried to think aof what she could have done for it to be hurting and justify the soreness, but nothing came to mind. Plus, she was young... she should be a bit more resilient than she was at the moment. "I'm fine." Not really, but moving on.

This whole cheering on thing was actually kind of nice. "Thanks Adi." and she flashed him a rare smile. This actually wasn't so bad after all, but she of course kept that to herself. He did the boat himself. "Fantastic!" She actually felt proud of his progress. "I told you, you could do it." She had actually taught somebody something and that was a pretty cool feeling to have.

"Yeah, I'll try some more. You never know what could come up on those newts." That was something else that she didn't need to be stressing over either. "Lignum Navicula!'' A boat appeared on the first try. Her elbow was still killing her, but she tried her best to pay it no mind. "Reverto." Staring at the wood and imagining a boat once again she tapped the wood. "Lignum Navicula!'' A boat the perfect size appeared in front of the seventh year once more.

"I think we got it under control." Unless, he wanted to practice some more in which case Hannah would understand. "Wanna give it a go in the lake and see how well we did?

SPOILER!!: Hannah <3

If this cracking and popping was a part of the mysterious ailment, this was bad. What was happening to them? Adi was startling to feel slightly panicky now. What happened to Hannah could happen to him! Oh nooo! But he didn't mention his panic. Instead, he smiled. "Maybe you should check the Healer.'' He knew she was just putting on an act of being fine but he let it be.

Adi continued grinning. The spell didn't seem so bad now. The Snake girl mentioned NEWTs. He had forgotten she was leaving this year. After all that had happened, he didn't want her to go. "What are you doing after Hogwarts, Hannah?'' he asked curiously and admiring her boat which she had transfigured once again. Inconspicuously as possible, Adi glanced. Oh goodie! Gus was distracted by a fly; the toad was hopping after it.

And then it was his turn again. Here goes nothing! He Reverted his boat to wood. "Lignum Navicula!'' Tap! The boat sprang in front of him and then he Reverted it. "Lignum Navicula!'' Tap! There was the boat again. "Lignum Navicula!'' Adi tried once more after Reverting it. Yep. He got the hang of the spell.

Time to test it out! The part of the homework he was most looking forward to. "Yes! Let's go!''

Oh wow. Now ego was beginning to come into play. "Maaaaaaaybeee.." Emma giggled, smirking as she watched him rub his hands all over his face. Lions and their pride... Merlin. And yet she found it sort of cute. Oye. What was wrong with her?

"We'll see about that the next time I beat you.." She joked, casually looking down at her fingers. Boy, she did get dirty. Oh well, she still had plenty of time before dinner hour to worry about it.

Emma was still giggling to herself when Michael called the sign to her attention. "So... what you're saying is.... that we just dug up innocent worms, and I put my hair in danger for nothing..." She said slowly, opening up her pack.

Emma slowly removed her bag of marshmallows, sneakily attempting to remove a handful. "You are so dead, Michael Touissant!" She cackled tossing the handful at him before ducking for cover.

It was on.

"Yeah, I just might do that if I don't start feeling better." She was really hoping that she would magically wake up from her nap and be all better. One could hope right? She really didn't like feeling vulnerable, and she disliked asking for help even more. During all of her years here at Hogwarts she had never visited the healer and she hoped that she didn't start now.

His next question was a good one, and Hannah didn't really know how to answer it. "I thought I would know by now, but I honestly don't have a clue." That was freaking and stressing her out, but she still had the rest of the year to find out for sure right? Nope, she wasn't going to do this now. She pushed this to the back of her mind as well. She had enough things to be stressing out about. Hannah would freak out about her life when she was all alone in her dorm, but she would not do this now.

She bit her lip contemplating on whether or not she should practice more. Deciding it would be better safe than sorry she gave it a couple of more goes. "Lignum Navicula!''Boat! She reverted it back and tried once more for good luck. "Lignum Navicula!'' And once again another boat appeared. Okay, she had it down, and there was no point in continuing on.

Okay, I am not going to pick this up." With her wand she lifted the boat over to the edge of the lake. This was the moment of truth. They would either sink or float.

Tessa smiled at the boat that Sander had made. It was a perfectly formed little boat. "It looked wonderful, Sander!" she exclaimed, smiling at him, but the smile faded as he kept talking. "What do you mean? Your boat is wonderful!" she told him, however the boy didn't seem to want to listen. "Alright," she agreed as he insisted on doing another one.

SHe might as well practice while Sander was revamping his boat. She revered hers and tapped her cheek in thought as she wondered what she wanted to make her little boat look like. PErhaps a pirate ship? She liked that idea and set about making a mental image of what it should look like. The curve and shape of the boat, even down to the the little opening for where the cannons would have been. She was ready. "Lignum Navicula," she cast, giving the wood a firm tap. The wood took a breath longer than the last one had to form into a boat shape- but sure enough, it was a miniature ship... all that was missing was the pirate flag and sails.

Tessa laughed in surprise at Sander's boat. "Okay, you were right, this one is much cooler," she said, stepping forward to examine his boat. "Great idea!" She turned to look at the lake as Sander asked her if she had any ideas. "Well, I talked with Lux about this in class... I really want to race them," she told him with a grin. "Want to give that a trial run? Perhaps we'll see Lux and she can join in," she suggested with a grin. She just really wanted to race the little boats.

Oooh, look! Lex had succeeded in transfiguring her wood. Cassia had to pause and give one approving nod of her head. "I bet you won't have problem with Transfiguration," she said turning her attention back to her own wood. "For OWLs I mean," She added in case it wasn't clear what she was speaking of. Cassia did well she supposed, an E was something she was proud of. Not as proud of the two O's she got but still.

Squinting down at the wood, Cassia released the reign of her imagination to a limit and tried to be creative with the design she aimed for. Once she could picture the boat clearly in her head she waved her wand, "Lignum Navicula!" Yup, that's the one. The sixth-year smiled down at the boat glad she hadn't forgotten how this was done after like a week since practicing it in class. "This should be a comfy one for Bentley when we place him in it," She said inspecting the boat closely.

Let's not drown a professor's grandson. Cassia couldn't think of a way as to how they might provide another grandson. That's if they lived enough after to think of that.

Dark thoughts aside, the blond decided that she and Lex with wands was enough to keep the kid safe. They both were good swimmers as well. Their adventures the last summer prove as much.

Noticing that Lex had reverted the spell and was now focusing again. Waiting for her bestfriend, the snake glanced at the kid making sure he was still there. Yup, right there consuming chocolate frogs. Back to Lex and her boat. "I say we test the boats without the kid in them to make sure there's no holes first," In case there was holes they'd fix it then bring along the kid.
