Boooooo, another term, another batch load of lessons.

As much as Theo had missed school, the actual school part was still an extreme bore. All he could think about was Quidditch and girls. But that was the same for most thirteen year old boys, right? After settling down next to West, Theo's eyes glimmered over the tanks and a sudden shrill of excitement came over him..

He raised his hand, "Are we gonna adopt a fish?!" But then like.... he realized that he needed to alter his answer cos this was a class about plants, not animals. "I mean, adopt a wet plant."

"Very much so," Spike responded, his grin still very much in place. "I look forward to exploring it further...and perhaps starting a couple of side projects based in here, if I may?" At that, he looked hopefully at his Professor. Spike was hoping to do much more work in the greenhouses this year if possible, in preparation for his future. "Perhaps we could talk about it after the lesson?"

And with that, Spike went back to looking around the greenhouse, peering in tanks here and there. So much so, he nearly missed the first question of the lesson.

He tapped his finger lightly on his bottom lip as he thought about what they might be studying. Aquatic plants was a clear theme, but that seemed a bit too obvious for one of Professor Bentley's lessons. Hmm.

Spike paused at the glowing tank once more, and gave a thoughtful frown. It contained coral, but coral wasn't a plant - it was built by tiny animals. Did that mean the other tanks didn't just contain plants, but fish also?

Maybe it wasn't as simple as the type of plant - but the environment too. Hesitantly, he raised his hand. Listening to other people's answers, he wasn't too sure if he'd just over thought the whole thing.

"Aquatic ecosystems, perhaps?" Spike said, curiously.

Belle was glad the professor had a good summer. She know she did. Then the professor started the lesson. Belle did not notice the other greenhouse was going through construction until the professor pointed it out.

When she asked about what they would be studying..Belle had no idea till she looked around. She noticed underwater plants and sea plants. Then Belle had an idea like all her other classmates, "Professor i think we are working with underwater plant life and possibly adopting them and taking care of them?" Belle asked unsure if she was right.

Aah. Time for class to begin.

Renesmee assembled along witht he rest of the students and listened intently as Professor Bentley asked a question. Guessing? Heh. Better than having to be wrong for sure. The red head looked around with a huge pout on her face. All she saw was tanks, and tanks, and tanks filled with water and possibly plants too.

So maybe that? The red head raised her hand. "Professor are we learning how to look after various plants in water tanks?" Because out in the wild was different right? Like a lilly pad here and in a river surely needed different kind of care? Or maybe it didn't? Pout. Caring for plants was clearly not alwyas so simple.

Okay...

In order not to be late to this class, Richard had to skip breakfast and he was super hungry right now. Eh. Already...he could not say that Herbology was among the classes that he enjoyed most and now he had to bear this hunger while trying to focus on it. He let out a deep sigh and scratched back of his neck while staring at the semi-glowing tank.

Yeah...very interesting.

He took one step forward, or not, when the professor told them to gather and stared at the tank with his head tilted to the side. His gray eyes blinked at the things in the tank.

Aquatic plants yeah. Aurora smart girl.

''Whatever my girlfriend said, professor.''

She knew that Aurora was his girlfriend, right?

........This was a cool looking greenhouse. Maybe Elodie could convince her brother to get one like it in their garden. ^____^

Making sure she was a little closer to the front of people around this tank (third year, people! We're only little!), Elodie looked at everyone else giving out their answers. DARN, EVERYONE WAS SO SMART, SO QUICK, SO..MEH. Els wasn't going to provide the exact same answer as people though, nope.

But she wasn't providing her alternative.

'I wouldn't mind learning to swim, Professor.'

Wait for the next question, Elodie. You can do it.

Well this greenhouse was certainly interesting. Clement hadn't really enjoyed Herbology that much when he'd been at Beauxbatons. But he wanted to get the whole Hogwarts experience and so was attending the class. He had got a little distracted. It really didn't look like the general greenhouse. He'd been expecting it to be really green, with plants all over the place. But this looked like an aquarium place. That was interesting. He figured they wouldn't be learning about fish though. Fish wasn't really herbology. He thought for a few moments before sticking his hand up in the air. "Maybe we are learning plants that grow in the water? Or...under the sea?"

Standing near the back of the group, Jake stood on his toes to better see the tank. He glanced from it to Professor Bentley, then around the group as others answered. Most of the answers were very general... and probably right, Jake supposed. But he'd been quiet so far and he kinda wanted to make his presence known... so he raised his hand.

"Corals, Professor?" Maybe? Were there enough things to learn about corals to keep them busy for a whole term? ...Probably not, but it was worth a shot.

Bliss stood near to everyone else. Yet another lesson of the term had begun and she was feeling pretty nervous and...yeah, nervous. MELLOW. Though she was also pretty excited, Hogwarts always offered the BEST lessons. When teachers weren't dying that is. Yeah. The third year listening carefully to Professor Bentley, what would they be studying this term. That was a good question.

She looked around the place and...thought. Bliss listened to a couple of the other students answer and giggled slightly at Theodore's answer. Adopting fish. Heh. That sounded quite fun actually. The youngster gradually raised her hand, feeling shy once again and spoke, "Will...will we be learning about plants underwater and um, how to look after them?" Hopefully she wasn't terribly wrong.

Oh wellllllll.

No gloves = no complaints.

Right?

Because... if they had to use gloves for Herbology, that meant that they were going to be dealing with dangerous plants that were likely to whack them and mess up their hair, right? So... well... yeah. No complaints. The fourth year reached up and ruffled his hair. Just... in case, you know.

At the Professor's words, Alec blinked a bit before looking around at the greenhouse. It was... yeah. All bluey-greeny and just... well... it made him remember the aquarium back at the zoo he had visited over the summer. And there was that archway place he had wandered through where you could go and see all the fishes swimming around. Yeah... this reminded him quite a bit of that.

Oh question! Oh, this wasn't... hard, right? Despite the fact that many people had already said pretty much the same things, Alec still raised his hand. "Erm... Professor?" he asked, smiling a little, "Water plants! Or... erm... just plants that grow underwater. Is that what we're learning about?"

Ellura nodded as the woman...Professor Bentley...greeted her in return and offered any assistance if she had any questions and such. She would certainly be willing to take her up on her offer should the need arise and even when it didn't. For she had to admit, even in the short time of seeing the professor who was her head of house as per Jake or Alex, that she felt comfortable about her.

The Gryffindor stayed quiet as the class was begun and the first question was presented to the gathered students, noting the glove rule as she did so. For now she simply wanted to listen, her gaze bumping between the tanks and people answering as she did so. Water plants...an interesting topic, she mused to herself, wondering if that really was what they were going to learn about.

Gather around? But Kat hated crowds. She blamed the BoG meet and greet for that. Being packed with lots of people was going to make Kat go crazy. She needed her space. Debating with herself, Kat went to gather with the others. So like... It was a water tank, Kat concluded. And... Their lesson had to do something with water. Water plants?

Hand raise. "Are we going to study aquatic plants this term, Professor?" she asked and answered. Question-ception. But she could've suggested aquatic creatures but this was not CoMC so she dismissed the thought.

McCall took in the various tanks and corals that were surrounding her. She knew that they would definitely be studying some sort of underwater or aquatic life to start out the term, but she wasn't quite sure which type of it they would be covering. Oh, well, it wouldn't hurt to take a guess, would it? McCall raised her hand.

"Professor, it looks to me that we will be studying some form of aquatic plant life, possibly corals or algae?" she said politely when she was called on. It seemed as if everyone was saying the same things.

Alex tried to think of plants that grew in the ocean, but none of them seemed like something they'd be learning about. Algae and seawood and stuff were sooooo boringgggg. There was no way they were learning about something like that, right?

"What about those sponge things? Or are those animals?" he guessed as he raised his hand.

Lex was interrupted from her tank gazing when she heard someone saying hi. "Huh?" Slowly, distractedly, she turned her attention to the older girl. "Oh, it's you! Hello there!" GRIN. "It does! All because it got blown up last term." Though she wouldn't say that too loudly just in case Professor Bentley was listening.

"And I'm sure whatever she has planned will be epic." The de-gnoming was enough to convince her of that.



No gloves??

Good because she hadn't brought any. Lex had taken a real gamble with her life by wearing them to class last term and who knew, this term there might really be a dragon and no one would see it coming--no one but her because she was obviously waiting to see one!

She moved closer to the Professor, now she had a better look at the tank!

"Ummm...are we going to be learning about whatever this thing in here is?" She asked, giving the tank a few light taps.

It wasn't moving...definitely not very hazardous...

Orr eagerly put her hand up and said "Well, judging by all the water tanks, I think that we are going to be learning about the virtues of magical water plants maybe also including plants that react in the water like Gillyweed."

He looked at his Head of House as she winked at him and told him to wait and see, he looked back at the tank and suddenly he couldnt wait to see what surprise she had in store for them. And he then waited by her side to see what she was going to be showing them today.

He looked round as she mentioned that the greenhouse had undergone a transformation, it did look better than the old one. Nice and new and stuff, he then looked at her as she started to talk about the topic they would be doing this term. This was it! this was where he would find out the surprise! He the frowned a little as she asked them to guess what they would be doing, she wasnt going to tell them? They had to guess? He looked around and he didnt know what it could be, but he listened as people said water plants could be the topic they would be working on. "Water plants???" he looked back inside the tank, maybe those are in there? He poked the tank a bit to see if anything came whooshing out at him and to show him that it was the topic. He looked up at his professor "Is everyone correct professor? water plants?" what was so cool about water plants? Was that the big surprise? water plants? Well that was a bit of a disappointment if it was, but maybe there was something cool about water plants that he didnt know, so he waited for the class to move on.

Oh no...they were suppose to answer questions out loud?! Susan was not liking this...what if she answered incorrectly. She would look stupid if she got the answer wrong. Susan hurriedly looked around trying to figure out the answer...she saw tanks filled with water and funky looking plants if you asked her. Susan had never seen anything like these plants. Well Susan thought she would at least give it a go..Will we be studying plants that live in fish tanks?"

"Are we learning about what sort of plants are in the lake?" Audrey wondered aloud, then quickly got quiet when she realized she hadn't raised her hand. She had her green spiral notebook (she'd labeled the cover 'FIRST YEAR HERBOLOGY' in large, sharpie'd letters) out and her ballpoint pen was in her right hand, ready to take notes. She loved school, and the discovery of magical school was not at all unlike finding buried treasure.

How cool were these tanks? BEAM! Ella walked around and admired them with a curious smile plastered on her face. This was SO much better than flesh eating plants, MHM! The blonde wondered what exactly they'd be doing this term, especially since they hadn't experienced anything in the water like this before, at least not since Ella had arrived at Hogwarts.

Just then Professor Bentley called for their attention and Ella gathered around with everyone else, noting the bit about gloves in the greenhouses. Gotcha. She bit her lip a bit as she thought about what they'd be learning about this term, knowing that water plants had been said several times already. Hmmm...

Raising her hand when she finally had an answer to share, the fourth year gave it a shot. "Professor, will we be studying Algae this term?"

Daichi thanked the Professor when she congratulated him on becoming a Prefect while he gathered around like instructed. He wasn't sure if she had heard him but that wasn't important now as class seemed to have started.

The Slytherin looked at the various tanks and corals, trying to find out what they Will be learning about this term. "are we going to learn about corals?"...were corals even plants? Mweh he didn't know and he guesses he was going to find out anyways soon enough.

Hannah never really cared too much for Herbology. Learning about plants wasn't the bad thing, it was the whole getting dirty thing that truly bothered her. Although this time it didn't look like that would be the case. Honestly, it was still to early to tell, but she liked what she saw so far. She looked at what everybody else was looking at and noticed that the tank seemed to be glowing... well what was in the tank maybe. This was actually pretty cool.

She raised her hand. "Professor, I think we will be learing about water plants." Maybe glowing ones. She hoped that they would be pretty. She liked the idea of corals too... she heard someone metion them as well.

Minerva walked around looking at the plants. She stayed close to Ethan he would know if the plants were safe or not. She had never ever been so nervous around plants before, but after such a traumatic experience last term no would blame her right... She was just about to ask Ethan if any were dangerous when Bentley called the back together.

Walking over to her place she listened as Professor Bentley started to talk about what they were going to be doing. What would they be discussing this term, well looking around she thought she might have an idea, and all looked safe from what she could see. Putting up her hand Minerva tried to not show her nervous in her voice. "Professor, are we learning about water plants, like ones found in the lake and how we can take care of them." Putting her hand down she listened to the other students.

She beamed at her Professor when she said that she had a pretty memorable summer. Yeah, well... Selina had figured as much. AFTER ALL, she had read her Head of House's book over the summer, which was pretty telling that Bentley lived an awesome life. Especially now with her... husband. Because she said she was a wife in the book!

An eventful summer herself? Not really, no. She saw Kurumi and Vivi over the summer and spent some time with her other friends, but it had been a pretty relaxed summer. She attested that to the fact that one of her most intrusive friends went away for the holidays. So her summer had been super relaxed and nice. A lot of food, which was always good, "It was nice, Professor."

And then she took her seat and got ready for the class to start. But Bentley had other ideas, she wanted them to gather around. So Selina picked herself up from her seat and waddled over to where the Professor had gathered her students...

Raising her hand, she threw out a somewhat simple answer, "Are we going to be studying some sort of aquatic plant?" That was a fair assumption, yeah?

That sounded crazy but before she even had time to ask more questions the lesson started. She heard the question of 'What are we going to study today?'. She heard many students answer and pretty much saying exactly what she would. She decided to go for an answer anyway, "I think we will be studying magical water plants and how to keep them happy and healthy in a tank.", it was a little different of an answer then the rest of her class and she was happy about that.
