Large quantities of food are spread before you. Whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the Hogwarts' house elves are the best in the world. The food is superb and the company is as well.
Every Paranoid Slytherin
Every house you diss
Every bludger you miss
Every word you hiss
Every doom you meet
They're watching you
Every wand-tip you lit
Every gambling trick
Every prefect you kiss
Every power fit
They're watching you
Oh don't you know
Snakes slither alone
They will look for you
For every chaos that issues
Every lie you speak
Every nervous tick
Every mental kick
Every evil mist
They're watching you
They are watching you
They'll be watching you
Slytherin watches you
I'll be watching you.

Alone
Have you ever felt alone in the world,
like you just don't belong.
Like everywhere you turn,
you do something wrong.
You zig instead of zag,
you're yin instead of yang,
you step instead of leap.
It's always one step forward,
and two steps back.
You wonder why they hate you,
or stab you in the back,
or turn away so easily.
They look away when you're in pain,
and laugh when you fall.
They tease you because you're different,
because they are all the same.
They hate the way you think,
and laugh at your ideas.
Know you're not alone.
They're the same as you,
unique in many ways,
but hide it from society.
Never speaking their mind,
hiding their emotions.
Have you ever felt alone in the world?
Know you're never alone.
Harlow's quill was flying across her parchment. She didn't realize how much she had missed her family till she have gotten a letter from home. And her sister finally saying her name tugged at her heart strings, because she wasn't there to hear it.
She nearly jumped out of her seat when someone sat down and spoke to her. "Holy Merlin," she giggled.
Harlow turned and looked at the boy, "Yeah just a letter form my mom. A picture from my sister and a cookie from my baby sister." she told him with a slight giggle.
Oh. He hadn't meant to frighten the girl, but..., "Actually, not Merlin, I'm Treyen," her guess had been a pretty close one, right?
The boy decided to pour some water into a goblet nearby and take a sip from it as she talked. He almost choke. "Three girls?" he said, between coughs, "You have two sisters, so your mom has three daughters?" man alive, that was really difficult to handle! Mainly because he was suddenly picturing a scenario where Sierra, Kurumi and Ellie were together, and...it wouldn't be as difficult as it would be uncomfortable, but still.
That sort of thing was difficult to handle if you were Treyen, yes? It seemed so. He could barely handle any alone time with either one of them.
"You're a first year, aren't you?" he asked, with a smile.

Harlow smirked, "Pleased to meet you Treyen. I'm Harlow Riddle if it pleases you," she held out her tiny hand for the boy to shake.
She giggled, "Yeah there are three girls. Me, Persia and Cuba." she told him. "But there are seven of us though. I have two older brothers and two younger brothers." That didn't seem like a lot of kids if you asked her. Everyone in her family had a big family.
Harlow beamed at him, "Yes I am a first year."she told him proudly. "And the first person in my family to go to Hogwarts." that was something else to be proud of.

Harlow Riddle. Nod. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Harlow." He shook her hand. She was far too polite for a first year, wasn't she? Considering she was one. Even then, she was far too polite for a Slytherin as well. Nice, really nice.
Blink.
Seven kids. That was...a very big family. But the only thing that managed to keep him shocked was the fact that there were three girls. Boys always seem more manageable than girls. Sometimes. Though he was certain that Vindictus as a kid was real trouble.
"Whoa. That's a lot of brothers and sisters. I only have one. One sister." And that was more than enough to him.
Wait, what? "Not even one of your older brothers came to Hogwarts?" She must be a Muggleborn, right? Brilliant!

She beamed at him, there she had made another friend. "Isn't this pleasant." she commented finishing up her letter and rolling it up and sticking it in her bag.
Harlow's jaw dropped, "Only one sister? So there is just two of you?" That was no fun at all if you asked her. Sure her brothers and sisters annoyed her sometimes, but she wouldn't trade them for anything.
She shook her head, "No my oldest brother Adrian went to this sports academy and Carmelo goes to a preforming arts school. My dad went to school in Egypt and my mom went to school in the US." she explained. "I was the only one who got a letter." she wasn't sure how that worked, but she was happy about it. "Did you sister come to Hogwarts with you?" she asked.

Angelina giggled a little and said, "That good. I like potions, but it confuses me sometimes. I though I'd love it, but I'd have to say my favorite class is either Charms and Herbology. I never thought I'd like thoughs classes every in my life! Yeah I think I did pretty good on my first flying class, but it was kinda hard, you know? I'm not taking Transfiguration. Is it good at all?"
Violet thought a minute. "I don't know, it's okay, I guess. I mean, the subject is fascinating and we have learned some really useful spells--like how to change the colour and length or shape of your hair--but the teacher has a weird sense of humour or something. She made us paint our faces up and dress like clowns in order to learn the spells, which I think was totally unnecessary! It was almost like she enjoyed watching us make fools of ourselves."

"oh wow. Thats not good!" Angelina said to Violet.

Yeah, she was just a nice Slytherin, one of the few. "It is." Or perhaps she hadn't been corrupted by the older ones.
Haha. That actually surprised her? "Just the one." He added, with a smile, "More than enough. To me, at least." Imagine if he'd had TWO sisters instead of one. They'd probably would've tackled him to death. And if both had managed to become Beaters...well...yeah...Treyen shook his head just to get the thought out of his mind.
"But...are either of them a Wizard or a Witch? Or are you the first one?" because there were other schools around the world that were just like Hogwarts. Wasn't Salander from Salem's Institute? And he had one cousin that had graduated from Durmstrang, like his uncle. None from Beauxbatons, though, but yeah, there were other schools.
He shook his head again, but only to let the motion follow his answer, "No, she graduated before I came here, but she did come to Hogwarts, and was a Hufflepuff as well. Only she was Quidditch Captain, whilst I'm a Prefect." Not that they were anything alike, nooooo, not at all. Right. "You...mentioned that Adrian went to a sports academy? What kind of sport did he play?" Or did he play many of them?

Harlow beamed, "Its always nice making new friends." she commented finding that was no hungry. She grabbed for a bowl and hunted around the table for some Lucky Charms.
She looked at him, "Wow there are seven of us. Adrian, Carmelo, Me, Bryce and Omari and then Persia and finally Cuba. My family is huge." she told him. "My grandmother has 12 daughters and one son. That's my dad and then like all of them have like 5 children a piece. My dad and his sister Egypt have the most kids with seven." She loved her family, but it was massive and easy to get lost in the shuffle. "You should come to our family reunion next summer." she added with a nod. He would get a kick out of that.
Harlow nodded, "Yep we all are wizards. Even Cuba my baby sister. She made a cookie explode into purple sprinkles when she was like 6 months old." It had been at a party and the whole family cheered. "But I'm pureblood." she explained. There was only two cases of squibs in her family. One of her aunts grandchildren and one of her great uncles.
She found her Lucky Charms and poured them into a bowl along with some soy milk. "Yeah I'm in the same house as my cousins that went to Hogwarts. Paris, Lucas and Diggy." She could only imagine the antics Paris and Diggy had gotten up to.
"Oh my brother goes to the Nike Wizarding Academy in the US. He is a quidditch prodigy." she told him. "He played for South Africa. Scored 80 points." Harlow rattled off his stats by heart. She had heard them enough from her brother. "And Carmelo goes to the Juliard School of Wizarding Performing Arts. Merlin that's a mouthful isn't it." she giggled. "Bryce and Omari are only 9 so they are going to a muggle primary school right now. And Persia is 4 but I think she might be going to the Nike Academy for figure skating. Cuba is 2 so we have no idea what she's good at. Other than drooling." she added.
Harlow turned to look at Treyen, "What does your sister do now?" she asked him.

Jesifur walked into the great hall with Corey and sat down at the Slytherin table. She was ready to get started, she set her bag down gently under the bench. Knowing the metal egg was in there she wouldn't want it to get kicked by accident.
Corey carefully put the box down and sat opposite Jesifur. He examined the box to make sure it was still intact and then grinned over at the first year.
"So shall I tip the box out on the table maybe? Then when we're done polishing we can put them back in the box and after that muck around with levitating them, if you wanna learn how to do that."

Jesifur looked at the box, it seemed to have grown on the way down to the hall. Maybe it was always that big, but it looked bigger now. She looked over at Corey, "Yea, that sounds good. Let's get this started."
"oh wow. Thats not good!" Angelina said to Violet.
"I know," Violet replied. "I hate feeling foolish. And besides..." she paused a minute, not wanting the other girl to think she was stupid, but deciding she needed to be more open with people, "this will sound lame, probably, but I didn't know what a clown was--I've never been to a circus or heard about them or anything, and for a while I didn't even know what to try to Transfigure myself into, never mind learning the actual spells, which was work enough. But this boy named William--I think he's a little older than me--wound up being my partner and explained it to me, so I think I did all right. He was pretty nice--for a Gryffindor!"
Harlow beamed, "Its always nice making new friends." she commented finding that was no hungry. She grabbed for a bowl and hunted around the table for some Lucky Charms.

Harlow turned to look at Treyen, "What does your sister do now?" she asked him.
He agreed. It was always nice to do so, even if you'll end up in different places throughout most of your life.
No kidding. Her family was huge, yet he was smiling and nodding as she kept on talking about them....until...family reunion? "I'm sure they won't mind one extra person, since there are so many of them." A chuckle left his lips after he said that, "And as tempting as your offer sounds...family reunions are for family, you know." Or people that were too close to them to be considered as such. Like Cricket and her mom. They weren't in the same 'family' status, but they were close friends.
Oh. She was nowhere in the 'Muggleborn' status. That was...unexpected. And still welcomed. He didn't bother on mentioning that he'd thought she was one, because that wasn't important, simple as that.
What was important was the next bit she said.
"Diggy?" there was one Diggy he got to meet, a Diggy he'll never forget. "Diggy Greenwood?" it was worth the shot to ask.
Back to her brothers. He blinked repeatedly as she spoke about their studies. Or academies. That was impressive, very impressive. "Wow. That's very good. You have a very talented family." Of many talents, of course. "I'm sure the younger ones will be as talented as the rest." There was nothing about drooling that could be considered 'talented', but magic at such an early age is brilliant.
His sister? "She's one of the Wimbourne Wasps' Beaters." He said, slightly proud of that, "My dad used to play Quidditch professionally as well." He decided on adding that bit because those were the only Lockharts that ever made the Quidditch World as pros.

Well she just didn't understand that. "Well its a party and a celebration so there are going to be a lot of people there that I'm not related to. And the food is always good. My aunt Zaire is a chef." she explained. But who would pass up a chance to go to a party. And a Riddle party was a great party to go to. "Last time there were fire eaters and people on stilts, and jugglers. It was so much fun." At least Harlow thought so. It was a great party and Harlow didn't even remember going to sleep, but she woke up on the family's carpet on the way back home with firebugs in her hair.
Harlow nodded, "Yeah Diggy Greenwood. He's my cousin. He works for Willie Wonka you know." she told him. And he always had candy in his pockets. That was a big plus in her book. "Did you know him?" she asked him since he knew Diggy's last name.
She was proud of her family. "Yeah we are pretty talented, but we have a lot of fun doing it." she told him. "Work hard and player harder is what my dad says." And that was what they did. Every family should live by that motto.
Harlow flashed him a bright smile, "Oh that must be so exciting. Playing professional quidditch. And a legacy. Well. That is great. What does your mom do?" she asked finishing up her bowl of cereal. "And what do you want to do?" that was always an important question.

Blink.
She was going on and on about a party that he didn't even know he could be invited too. He smiled at her, it was simply adorable. "Well, then ask me again in a couple months...and maybe my answer will be different." He didn't mind not knowing anyone in there, because he knew Harlow and he had a feeling that such a thing will be enough for the entirety of the party.
AHA!
"Really? That's fantastic." Diggy working at Willy Wonka. He would've never guessed, truth be told. "I do, he owes me a butterbeer, by the way." This Lockhart had a fantastic memory, it seemed. "And Oliver Greenwood you know as well?" He was Diggy's cousin, and once incredible Quidditch player.
Their motto sounded right. He nodded as much as possible, "That's how it should be. If you're working for the rest of your life, it's better if you work with something you enjoy." Otherwise, it may suck for a while. Just may. Sometimes it worked even better than one thought.
A small smile touched his lips, "It is. Yes." Exciting, Quidditch, players, games, everything was. And...his mom...he didn't want to get into details about the one relative he never got to meet, "She was a Museum Curator, a Muggle." His smile did widen. That was his favorite part, the Muggle part. "I, however, don't want to follow either one of their paths, I want to act, work as an actor," maybe even direct some play someday. Who knows.
Ariana sat down in the edge of the Slytherin table. She felt like playing nice and quiet today. She ate happily and chatted with no one. She loved this, being all lonesome. She's always been like this, friendless, but she likes it that way.
Alexia walked in the Great Hall, it was crowded and noisy. She went to the Slytherin table trying not to bump anyone along the way, then she sat down at last and began to eat.
Kennedy made his way to the Slytherin table and sat down, placing a game box next to him. He wondered if Aurora knew how to play Checkers, but if she didn't then he'd help. Just as he reached his toast he felt something jump on his leg and onto the table. It was that darn Pygmy Puff he was using to test the Hate potion on. Kennedy felt bad for doing that on the innocent creature, but he had to if he wanted to get a good mark in that class.
He took a toast and gave it a huge bite, he was starving. Between homework and classes Kennedy had forgotten to eat. He looked down the hall and then took a big chug from his pumpkin juice.
Jesifur looked at the box, it seemed to have grown on the way down to the hall. Maybe it was always that big, but it looked bigger now. She looked over at Corey, "Yea, that sounds good. Let's get this started."
He grinned and carefully tipped the box out so it wouldn't all fall off the table. He righted the box again and sat down.
"I guess we better be thorough. Professor Schirmer seems like the kind of professor who will check." He said and started using excolo on the cutlery, his focus entirely on that. Well at least the wand was cooperating.

Mmmm.
Aurora entered the Great Hall and made straight for the Slytherin table. "Hello!" she said as she plonked herself down next to Kennedy. She glanced the box out of the corner of her eye... that must be the game... "What is it?" she asked, looking at the picture on the top. It looked like chess, but with circle-y counter things...
She watched as a Pygmy Puff jumped onto the table and began running around like an idiot. "Potions homework?" she asked, not taking her eyes off it - it could get at the food and that would not be good. She reached out and grabbed it, putting it down on the table in one place. "Stay there." she said, taking her eyes off it long enough to grab a bread roll and spread a thick layer of strawberry jam on it.

Jesifur grabbed a few utensils, "Argentum," she said pointing at the utensils, "excolo" indicating with her wand where she wanted them shined. She flipped the utensils over and did the other side and tossed them back in the box. She continued to grab handfuls of utensil and clean them in the same process.
In one grab she ended up with mostly spoons. As she did the incantations on this group, a small smile crept upon her face. When finished with the spoons she lied one upon the table perpendicular to the box, spoon side pointing toward the box. She took the next spoon and lied it across the handle end. She held her hand aloft and SMACK. She hit the spoon part hard with her hand sending the second spoon flying towards the box in which it landed. Looking up she grinned at Corey and sent the next spoon into the box in the same manner.
"Sorry, I just had to try it." she said as she looked down at the lessening pile of utensils, "We are getting it done faster than I thought. I just thought I'd try a trick my cousins taught me. Or I could do this," She picked up a spoon and breathed on the curved end and stuck it to the end of her nose. It hung there, she shook her head and it waggled on her nose but still stuck. She laughed and pulled it off. Setting it down she started shining them again snickering and giggling throughout.

Maddy walked into the great hall, it was packed, she found a steat at the Slytherin table and stat down. She was so hungry, she began spooning stuff onto her plate. She hoped someone would come along and chat.
Aurora entered the Great Hall and made straight for the Slytherin table. "Hello!" she said as she plonked herself down next to Kennedy. The Pygmy Puff's eyes widened when the girl touched her AND moved her away from Kennedy. How dare she? "Squeak squeak!" she squeaked. Didn't she know it was Puff and Kennedy time? PFFT! The fur ball ignored the girl and bounced her way to edge of the table and onto Kennedy's lap.
HMPH!
AND, she was staying there.
Kennedy eyed the puff and smiled weakly at Aurora. "I don't what's gotten into it. It's been doing that all day," he said with a hint of blush. The puff was getting a bit possessive, no? He gave it a small pat and then made room on the table for the game board. "It's Checkers, have you ever played it before?" he asked, finishing his piece of toast.
"Yeah, I-I tried to get it to care for me, but," he looked down at the Pygmy Puff, whom snuggled closer to him. "I think I tried too hard." Yep, the thing really liked him.

Aurora grinned, Kennedy even blushed when a pygmy puff showed love towards him? That was so adorable!"Maybe she's just excited at meeting you." she said, watching him reach for the game. "Erm, no, is it like chess?" she asked, though she couldn't imagine it would be much fun to watch some little disc counter thingies beat eachother up - chess was much more entertaining. She ate the last bite of her jam and bread as Kennedy finished his toast - very convenient. "So, how do you play?" she asked, brushing the crumbs from the front of her robes and moving her plate so the board would fit more easily.
Aurora chuckled as the pygmy puff snuggled into Kennedy. "Aww, that's cute. You're obviously just a lovely person." she said - even pygmy puffs knew when someone wasn't nice... they rarely liked her... unless she was being particularly cheery for some reason. "I don't think you can try too hard to make people-" she stopped herself, she was supposed to be talking about animals... not humans... "Things - like you, I mean, either you're nice and things love you, or you're not... and they don't." she said, shrugging. She supposed it was different with people - you could always lie to people - but animals... kind of knew... somehow.
"Oh yeah I know William as well. I meet him by the lake," Angelina told Violet.
