The ancient schooner stands tall in the dark water, although there is a definite list to the mast and sails that belie its age. After all these years hidden in or around the lake, the ship is in remarkably good condition, although the lower decks drip with water and something rather green and slimy. If not for the age and apparent solitude of the ship, it would appear the crew had just departed, even going so far to leave the gangplank lowered to provide access to the main deck.
The main deck is cluttered in a way no captain would approve. Bits of knotted rope, lank strands of the shredded sail, and abandoned cannon balls that seem to have taken root to the deck would have tripped up a sailor in bygone days. They are the only artifacts left of those hearty men now. A rope ladder twists uselessly in the rigging - wonder if the crow's nest can still be reached?
Just a few steps above the main deck, the steering wheel is knotted into place with a moldy length of rope. It's impossible to know where these sailors were headed, but they've been sailing in one direction for a very long time indeed. Propped against the railing behind the wheel is a marlinespike, a nasty pointed thing that was someone's weapon or tool... or both.
Beneath the quarterdeck, a gaping doorway leads to the captain's quarters. Decrepit maps, a rusted quadrant, and a compass sit on the captain's desk, but the most interesting artifact is probably the old tricorne hat propped against the chair. Wherever the man went, his head is bare. The bed and wardrobe in the corner could give you more clues about the man who lived here, but the best clue is the log book folded closed on the chair - Captain's Log for the Dead Wizard's Trove.
Below the main deck, you will find the hold and sailor's quarters. Kegs of powder are scattered with a few ancient gold coins, Galleons by the look of them, but there is no further indication as to what the ship once carried. Was the ship a merchant ship? Privateers? Or pirates?
Christopher couldn't help but laugh at Elektra's response to his question. "The very same. I didn't know how famous I was!" He grinned to himself, secretly really happy that she talked about him. "I recognized your name, she's mentioned you before. And Elektra is not an easy name to forget."
His bright blue eyes shined down at the Snake, still smiling. "So what has Little Miss Violet been saying about me?" What? He was curious. And he certainly hoped it was good and that he didn't compare to Nathan in her eyes at all. Because the Gryffindor was still really worried that his friend's older cousin would steal Vi from him.
She knew her reaction was a little over the top but it was about time she finally met him. She heard som many stories from Violet about him and Elektra thought, at first that it was all a lie, but wow Violet wasn't lying about his eyes. They were so...BLUE!! She walked a little colser towards him examining him as Elektra can clearly tell why she like him so much. He was Violet's ideal type. She shrugged then leaned against the old walls of the Captain's Quarters. "Honestly? Nothing but good things about you Chris. She really likes you and I can tell why. You're her type. As for me..." she scoffs and shakes her head. "I don't know where he went, but it's as almost he fell off the face of the earth. Last time I saw Derian we were skating at the lake last year. Do you happen to know him by any chance? Derian? He's a second year Gryffindor."

"I'm right here Oakey." Mordred said behind Oakey as he adjusted his eyesight to the dark. He didn't know he followed the boy closely, so he could share the light from his wand. He too took out his wand and muttered Lumos as well. The quarters was definitely darker than the captain's cabin, and the smell down there was worse. "More artifacts, that's for sure. But hopefully we'd see something connected to the note book and the maps." Mordred inched toward a keg that caught his eyes. Something was glittering from the light of his wand. He found old galleon coins. He turned to Oakey as he held up the coin. "Antique galleons." he said. "They must have stolen these from wizards." he said as he held up his lighted wand over the rest of the coins scattered on the floor.

Of course, it would be best to assume he couldn't, but how hard would it be to float, at least. Maybe the ship had those small lifeboats just in case, and they could use those.
No exams? That didn't sound very bad. Eino really wasn't in the mood to study lately, but then again he had to do a lot of it. On the good side, he didn't have to take any of the exams, so it really didn't affect him directly. "Oh well, he sounds very nice." He did appreciate music after all. Eino was a little sad he had missed the musical introductions, that would have been very fun. And who didn't like Santa Clause? This man sounded like an angel. A fat angel. Transfiguration class sounded fun, too, and Eino was now even sadder he had missed that. So far, all of these ministry officers sounded like a great addition to the Hogwarts faculty. "Is there a reason why they are here?" Were there no candidates for the jobs? Why would the ministry want to teach classes anyway? And why would exams be cancelled?
Kurumi eyed Eino when he said he wasn't sure if he could swim or not. If he could swim as well as Faustus could fly, then they were in serious trouble. She was a fair enough swimmer, and she supposed that IF the situation called for it, she could carry him back to the shore without drowning either of them. "Well, I am sure it won't come to that," she giggled nervously.
Kurumi shrugged her shoulders again. "I am not sure...but Lord Borr is the new Minister of Magic and father said that they abolished the Department of Magical Education, so I guess that is why they are here? To observe..." Kurumi didn't have any idea either, but it sure seemed like her father was dead set on writing about them for the Prophet. "So...shall we actually get on board?" Perhaps start singing that one song about pirates that had something about really bad eggs?

Eino wasn't aware that the Department of Magical Education had been abolished, and wasn't really sure how that worked, or the entire Ministry, for that matter. "Maybe if we are good they will see we don't need them and go away." That was a problem though, something always happened. He really wanted to, but he couldn't find a way to board the ship. "How do we get up there?" He looked around. There wasn't a ladder or anything that would give them a boost.

Oh...there was none. Well, now THAT was interesting. How were they going to get on the boat. Kurumi supposed the better question would be how did other people get on there?
"Do you think everyone else swam out to it?" she asked already knowing that that idea sounded a bit ridiculous. "Oh, what about if we try using that?" she asked pointing to a rather large piece of wood floating by the ship. Perhaps it had fallen off from the deck, but it looked like it was large enough for both her and Eino to stand on and then they could use their hands, or make oars from something, to paddle their way out.

Her type? That was odd. He didn't know Violet had a type. Christopher shrugged and grinned. "Thanks. I think." She was circling around him, examining him as if he were some animal or something, and he had to admit, it kind of freaked him out a little. Like if he weren't up to her or Violet's expectations she'd hex him or something. That scared him. A lot.
Now Elektra started to talk about a boy. A boy named Derian. Hey! Christopher knew that guy! Well, sort of. "I don't really know him, but I know of him! He was in my house, just a year younger than me. I saw him all the time in the common room and in the dorms, but I never really talked to him. I just knew he was a first year. Haven't seen him yet though, sorry." He wondered who that boy was to Elektra. Maybe it was a friend or a boyfriend? He leaned against a supporting post standing nearby and shook some of his dark hair out of his face, hoping the girl wouldn't be too upset about Derian.
A nod? That's all she got--a nod!? Well, at least it was better than the other boy's (Sally's) friend. She'd ignored Sierra altogether. Sierra returned the greeting in the same exact way--a nod. Well, she and this girl would just make the greatest of friends, now wouldn't they? ...hmph.

Unless there was a whale around.
But spiders? "I think Acromantulas would be the ones you need to be wary of, but not the little spiders," which were probably going to run away if they saw light.
Oh. He forgot one important thing.
The boy placed one arm around Sierra's shoulders, "Ellie, this is Sierra," he said, and then dropped it before placing the other one around Ellie's shoulders...or...something like that, since he was shorter than her, "Sierra, this is Ellie," and he dropped it just as quickly before taking one step towards the hatch and taking out his wand, "Now you know which names to yell for if you're in trouble," yes, please don't call for him.
And after gesturing for both of them to follow him, the boy's wand lighted up the darkness as he climbed down there...in search of Salamander, right, sorry, Salander.
"Salander? You down there?" Right. So much for courage.
"Don't make it sound like it's a bad thing. Besides, it's not going down. It's what's already down there." Apart from Salander. He wasn't scary. Bugs were. "Aside from the fact that this ship is old and could fall apart." With them on it. Not fun.
Ohhh Treyen. That didn't help. "There better not be Acromantulas down there, Treyen." Or she will leave. And only return with Little Professor. Even if it took all term.
But they were going.
"Good to meet you." If they died, at least they knew who they were dying with, yeah?
Ellie then lit her own wand, and motioned for Sierra to go ahead of her. She was younger, right? So, she should probably be in the middle. Things didn't attack those in the middle.

Sierra paused, looking at Lola but blinking at the same time. Had she just...obeyed her!? Sierra had told her to get up, and the girl had literally stood immediately to her feet. Oh, this was good--really good. She'd throw the girl a doggy biscuit if she had one handy. "Displease me?" she questioned, half-scolding herself for not snapping at the girl. She'd wanted to at least roll her eyes, but if she was going to win Lola over (for the purposes of having a loyal dog around), then she needed to sort of reel the girl in. "Of course not, Lola." Then she patted her on the back the way an owner would pat their dog.
Sierra was doing alright with the whole niceness bit until Lola started in on the screaming. "Yes, Lola, I'm aware that you're Lola Jones--aka friend," she said, her eyebrows creasing in annoyance. At least the girl hadn't used best friend this time. "...and if you push me one more time, I'm going to--." Be nice, Sierra. BE NICE. This just might not be worth having a loyal dog follower, though. She didn't have enough willpower to be this nice to someone. Especially Lola Jones.
"I was looking at you, you idiot, until you pushed me forward," she snapped. Exploring this ship with Lola Jones was going to destroy every last bit of niceness she might have on her body. She just knew it. "Let's just...get on with things." She waved her hand forward, urging Lola to get a move on.
Lola was looking at her curiously.
Pirate-Sierra?
Maybe it was an act.
The girl clapped her hands in success quietly when she was told that she had not displeased her best friend. She was even patted! THIS FRIENDSHIP WAS ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL. She obviously won over Sierra and they would be friends forever and ever and her heart was jumping with glee. Had the girl finally seen through the light? Did she see the message Lola was giving to her?! Because she was not like this at Diagon Alley.
Or maybe she was. Just testing her friendship capability all along and Lola Jones did not fail that test. She immediately forgot about her crazy idea of Sierra being a crazy pirate-woman and she her mind was filled with what to do next, maybe... START THEIR FRIENDSHIP CERTIFICATE!
"Oh really, Sierra?" she questioned with a giggle, "No no no! You were looking at someone. You know. Someone. A special someone." HEHEHEHE. But that thought made her even more curious to see who it was. "Fine theeeeeen, c'mon!" With that, the girl was getting impatient with the girl not walking forward and took her hand, leading her toward the... where? "Where do you want to exploooooore? Hmm Sierra, hmm?" Lola Jones was not a leader. Which is why this leading thing was a horrible idea indeed.

Elektra nearly moved like a snake watching this young lion. Besides the fact of being related to....well...just the thought of his name gave Elektra chills. She was glad she never met him. Even though he is her family...Elektra despised Voldemort and everything he did while he was around in this world, but now he's gone. She sighed in disappoinment about the news of Derian. She missed him so much. Her one person to go to whenever she felt scared...just -poof- out of nowhere. It was unexplainable and Elektra tried to hide the fact it upset her so she faced Christopher staring right at his blue eyes with her emerald green eyes and tilts her head to the side a little bit. "Why are you scared?" The only reason she could tell was by the way his posture was. She scoffs and then chuckles softly. "You can relax Chris. it's like I'm gonna bite you or something. From his position against the railing, Tate could hear some students discussing how to come aboard from the shore. He waited, giving them time to make the startling realization that they should come up the gangplank before breathing a truly heavy sigh and leaning out over the railing.
"Oy, you there! Just come up the gangplank and don't make a production of it. The free exploration is almost ended and you'll never even make it aboard." He pointed to the gangplank.
Nessie got onto the ship. She looked around very facinated then decided to go to the captain's headquaters. The whole ship seemed very interesting. Nessie tried to imagine her self sailing along the sea, ordering the other sailors about. It was a wierd thing to imagine, Nessie wondered what the ship could have been used for, but Nessie couldn't decide what.

"We should probably talk about that some time, you know?" he said, with one single nod. Just...not right now...right now they needed to defend Salamander, er, no, wait, Salander! from the darkness! At this point, the Slytherin boy and the Gryffindor Captain were probably two decks bellow them.
His eyes were on Sierra, but with a curious look. Why was she blushing? He'd said nothing to embarrass her or anything, right?
Ah! There was the girl he was more familiar with. The smirking Slytherin. Well, Hufflepuff had great smirking people too, you know? "I don't mind leading, but DO call for help if something happens, Sierra." He shook his head. Changes were that he'll be stuck in that ship if he ever fell unless he was found by someone else...that's why bringing Ellie too was a great idea.
WAIT.
Ellie. Was Ellie afraid of climbing down the hatch? Because...it had a stair to head down...and it was only dangerous if you were like Salander and missed a couple steps. "Yes, down there," he said, suppressing a laugh, "Please don't tell me you're afraid of going in there," she played QUIDDITCH, and has dealt with Bludgers before. This couldn't be scary at all. "Salander? You down there?" Right. So much for courage.
In a sudden state of nervousness for reasons she was trying to ignore, Sierra turned her head toward Treyen with a slight questioning expression. Talk about it sometime soon? Talk about what? Ohh, right--their potion! Suddenly, working on this potion with Treyen seemed a lot more exciting than it had last school year. Sure, it had been exciting then, too, but now...
She quickly turned away from the prefect in an effort to get her mind away from certain type thoughts. Thoughts she was still sort of angry at herself for having. Thoughts she knew her father would literally seethe in anger over. Looking toward the hatch Salamander and Simon had gone down, she nodded her head. "Yeah, ...some time," she remarked. Obviously not now. "Just owl me when you're ready."
UGH!!!
That had so made her sound like she'd be sitting around just waiting to hear from him. She had to get a hold of herself! "Or better yet, just be ready. I'll owl you," she said.
Again, she nodded when he told her to call for help if she got into trouble down that hatch. Come to think of it, though, she might just call for help even if she didn't... "UGH!" she said aloud this time. She hadn't meant to, though. She blushed and turned away, distracting herself by looking out at Kurumi Hollingberry on the banks of the water. Then she felt his arm around her. Her eyes sort of widened a little as she turned back around--to see his arms around another girl as well...

Ellie then lit her own wand, and motioned for Sierra to go ahead of her. She was younger, right? So, she should probably be in the middle. Things didn't attack those in the middle.
She eyed this other girl, wanting to glare at her but holding back for now. Good to meet you?! Sierra should probably return the line, but she just wasn't in the mood to attempt friendliness. She eyed Treyen again, noticing how friendly he seemed to be toward this other girl. With an inward sigh, she looked at Ellie and said, "It's...good to...meet you..., too." There. That hadn't been too hard. She would not be calling the girl's name if she got into trouble, though...

OOOH. CAMERAS.
Lola quickly posed, hugging Sierra for a camera-shot. "YEEEES!" CAMERAS. She was a fan of being on camera, the center spot of the holy camera. Always.
Sierra jerked her head toward Lola. Why in the name of all things good and magical was this loud, obnoxious, annoying excuse for a person clapping?! ...oh. Right. Sierra had willingly been nice to her in an attempt to gain a loyal dog. Seemed like it had worked, only, Sierra would now have to deal with all the ridiculousness that came along with being anywhere in the vicinity of Lola Jones.
Then suddenly, Lola's hand was clasped around hers, causing Sierra to sort of stiffen in horror. Where were they going?! Sierra was going to lead--she had to! Otherwise, she'd have to suffer through the humiliation of being lead around the ship by Loooooola Jones. She wouldn't have it! None of it! "Down there!" she suddenly said, the hatch seeming to be the closest place to her. She had just enough time to turn and look toward Treyen, hoping he was coming along, before she disappeared into the depths.

The last thing see saw was the blinding flash of Michael White's blasted camera as she went down the hatch.

William waved to Sierra. " How do you like the ship?" William asked Sierra. " I think of this as a pirate ship" William said to Sierra. " How about you?" William asked Sierra.

Grabbing Eino's hand, Kurumi turned her attention to a familiar voice calling from the boat. Her cheeks flushed and she followed the Headmaster's gesture towards the rather obvious looking gangplank. "...oh..."
Kurumi turned her attention back to Eino and shrugged her shoulders.
"Apparently, the entrance is that way."

Eino looked up to identify the voice and waved at the Headmaster. "To the gangplank!" Eino shouted with his explorer voice, which was deeper than usual, while pointing at it. Together with Kurumi, Eino made his way to the gangplank, and once they were on the ship he looked down. "Whoa!" It was like looking outside of the Ravenclaw Common Room window, beautiful but a little frightening. "Where do we begin?"

Giggling a bit as they marched their way onto the ship. She wished that she had one of those small telescopes with her so that she could maybe peer into the Forbidden Forest and perhaps see something really cool. Could they go fishing on the boat? That would be kind of fun and maybe her and Eino could even catch a mermaid?! She did very much wish to have a conversation with one.
"Let's go up to the wheel!"

"Let's go up to the wheel!"
"To the wheel!" Eino echoed in the same explorer voice. It was much larger than he imagined, almost as big as him and definitely much wider. When he tried to steer it he realized how heavy it was. It seemed so easy but no matter how hard he tried he could not make it move. "Do you think it's stuck?" Or maybe the professors had cast a charm on it so it couldn't be moved by anyone, but it wouldn't really make a difference if they could move it. Then whispering, he said to Kurumi, "How much do you think they will charge students to explore the ship?" The Headmaster did say free exploration was near an end, which means the ministry and professors probably brought the ship so that they could charge students to make more money for the school, or the ministry. Mystery solved.

With a spring in her step that she had been missing since Eino had left school, she dashed with him towards the wheel. Everything always seemed more exciting when Eino was around. She was reminded of the 'quest' Eino had taken her and Hugo on last term to 'defeat the beast sent by the Ministry' which Kurumi had always assumed to have meant Mr. Ikenna, but they never made it to the man's office to figure it out.
When they had arrived at the wheel Kurumi spread her arms out and found that it was wider than her arm span and the tips of her fingers could just barely touch the rim of the wheel. It was so big! It probably would take both her and Eino, with perhaps the help of the Headmaster, to move it. Frowning when Eino's attempt to move the wheel failed, she stood next to him and put her hands on one of the spots where Eino's weren't. "Maybe if we pull on it together it will move?" she asked before bursting into laughter at her friend's next question. "Somehow, I don't think that is what the Headmaster meant by free..."
Then again, perhaps if she bribed the man with lots and lots of cookies he would allow them to stay on board...
