Jared's not big on formalities, but he likes a certain sense of decorum if possible. The door of the office is highly polished and, once you enter, the place carries the faint but lingering scent of expensive perfume. There's nothing special about the interiors - a big desk full of all sorts of drawers one can't see sits at the far end, facing a pair of high-backed chairs.

The only interesting things are - and perhaps not even those are interesting to the average person that enters - a medium-sized bookshelf full of old tomes, and a display that contains some of the things Professor Descoteaux has picked up on his travels, ancient and new, and gilded and worn-out. The office is enveloped in an invisible net of defensive spells to keep out intruders. There's a sneakoscope on the desk, and it spins all the time, though it has been charmed not to whistle.

Please knock before you enter.

Absently glancing down at the rubber turtle in her hand as she left the class room, unlike most others who were leaving Charms the Hufflepuff headed straight for the professor's office and paused as she reached the door, raising a hand to knock lightly on the hard wood.

Emmaleigh had come up to the third floor in hopes of finding a place to practice charms with the girl she had met in potions. The practice hall was the best place, but she had seen a notice that said she need permission to do charm work in there. So, she she was, in front of the professor's office. Taking a deep breath, she reached up and knocked on the door.

"Oh, Hello." the little girl said, just a bit startled by the professors arrival. She followed him into the office, and let her eyes wander around the room, until the stopped upon a thing spinning on the desk. That thing was very odd looking. Em began to sit at the suggestion, until she hear the word "both." She looked around, and spotted the older girl for the first time. She smiled at her as she finished sitting down.

Looking up at the professor, she smiled at him too. "Um, I was just wondering if I could use the practice room to help a first year with some of her spells." The girl explained. "And I would like to get more practice with the spell from class as well." She added.

For your understanding, your sympathy and your advice; I really do appreciate it." She should probably get going soon, ~~but the tea was soo good!~~ it was getting late...

"You have the Hogwarts house elves to thank for that," Jared said, smiling faintly. "... and please don't mention it, Ellie." He didn't see compassion as something that ought to be thanked for. Picked up, returned if possible and passed on, certainly, but not thanked for.

He could only hope that her personal conflicts would equip her with the strength to face life with courage and optimism.

Wait.. why had she been about to knock, again? Katie blinked. She knew where Prof. D was, Charms had just been dismissed. She knew to wait, too. The Hufflepuff simply shook her head, pushing away the thoughts that were obviously clouding her mind.

As the professor appeared and open the door, Katie nodded lightly before following inside. She waited until her fellow Hufflepuff was seated before taking the other chair, shifting ever so slightly to get comfortable as she waited for the Professor to speak first. Because.. she had ideas of why she was here, but she wasn't absolutely sure.

She's been having trouble controlling how much water she conjures." the young puff paused before stating the next spell, seeing as it was a little more dangerous. What made you choose the profession you did?" Although JP had question as to how he could become a cursebreaker an eventually a professor he wanted to get to know his professor better first .

The little puff smiled, "Thank you, Sir." she said enthusiastically. Her brows did furrow a bit at the mention of transfiguration. "Really?" she muttered, "I didn't know." For a moment or two, she wondered if they would be allowed to practice the spell, until she heard his next words. She was about to get up to leave when another question came to her mind. "Is there a spell to dry or siphon the water?" she asked. That would make cleaning the room easier.

Benjamin walked to the office of the charms prossor's office and knocked hard to ensure that the professor heard him knocking. "Professor, I'm Benjamin Trevors. I missed your last class. I'd really like to talk to about making up that credit, if I could.
"I'll wait out here until you're not busy." And so, Benjamin sat own in the corridor and opened his copy of the Charms book, and begain to read it. This is an interesting class. I must catch the next one.he thought to himself as he read the book. "Just look at all these spells I've missed. I could've learned more an more spells to help out my dueling skills. what a shame."

Benjamin opened the door and steppped inside. "Hello, Prfessor. Thank you for letting me inside. As you may have noticed, I wasn't in your class today, and I apologize for that. I got lost going to all of my other classes, I somehow managed to skip yours. I would like to know if you can help me catch up? And possibly learn some of the charms from past terms? I hope I'm not coming across as a first year, normally. But my father would want me to learn all that I can, and I want to learn all that I can. So can you please help me?"

Maybe she would tell Johnny about it, next time she wrote home? Or.. maybe give it to him, when she went home for the holidays. He would probably like that.

Dark eyes looking up as another knock sounded on the door, Katie's gaze then turned to the professor. Sitting quietly, she couldn't help but wonder if she was really in a little bit of trouble for her behavior in class or if it was something else entirely.

The redhead nodded as she listened to the professor's explanation. It seemed to make since. Why hadn't it been explained like this before. Thinking about it, she asked, "So that would make Aguamenti a transfiguration spell to?" Well this was embarrassing, and she just knew that her cheeks were turning red.

So there were two spell that could get rid of the water. "Do you think it would be possible for me to learn one of the spells? you know, so I can clean up the practice room."

"I suggest a map," Jared suggested, not unkindly. Quite a few students had told him they had missed, or been late to, classed because they had gotten lost, and a map seemed like an easy solution, at least until they became familiar with the castle.

As for catching up... "Of course. You can come to the Practice Hall, after classes tomorrow. We can work on the charms you missed in the lesson and, after that, any other suitable charms you'd like to learn."

Once again, her dark eyes fell upon the green turtle bath toy, her fingers tracing the lines on the smooth rubber shell, letting her mind wander just a little bit until they took a wrong turn and she pushed them away with a slight shake of her head, one hand reaching up to brush a dark, unruly curl from in front of her face.

Noticing her fellow Hufflepuff glance toward her, Katie said nothing but offered a polite smile and watched as the younger girl rose from her seat, leaving the office in a few short words. Then the professor's attention was on her. Katie silently shifted a bit in her seat, gaze lifting to meet Professor Descoteaux's as he spoke, her dark eyes blinked at his words. Not because his question was surprising.. it was actually what he had said before that, that puzzled her. "In what way do you mean, Professor?" In class? School in general? Or.. "If this is about class, I am sorry about that. About asking to be excused and all, I..," What exactily could she say to explain her behavior, without explaining what had been on her mind?
